UPDATE:
bootloop and red triangle problem solved!
BWhite22 tutorial :
If you have access to a Windows box, I would recommend doing what I did to get out of the bootloop:
1. Boot phone into Fastboot (with goldcard inserted in my case, because I have a North American Bell phone - your mileage may vary)
2. Connect to PC
3. Run RUU
4. Bingo
That's all that was involved here. Please be sure to follow all the usual RUU precautions: battery charge, PC on a battery backup to avoid a power loss during flashing, etc. I'd hate for anyone to have problems after all this!
give thanks to Football for the RUU file

BSwhite wrote a longer tutorial.
give him thanks
First off, before you do anything else, consider some precautionary questions:
- will flashing FroYo WWE void your warranty? Check on your provider's website, do any additional required research here.
- are you risking any language options by going to WWE? - input languages differ but are a similar list, except you can also do some East Asian languages for input. (And Turkish, I think)
The languages/locales included in WWE are: (some guesswork in here)
English - many different European countries, South Africa, Israel (The South African English TTS voice had better sound like Wikus from District 9! )
French - various European countries, but names are in French so a couple former French colonies might be included that I haven't noticed
Italian - Austria, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Italy
Spanish - Spain, UK
Dutch - Netherlands, Luxembourg
German - Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Luxembourg
Greek - Greece (or at least it's Greek letters... I assume it says 'Greek'!!)
Portuguese - Portugal, South Africa
Norwegian (Bokmal) - Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland
Danish - Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland
Swedish - Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland
Czech - Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania?
Polish - Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania
Russian - followed by a good 8 or 10 Cyrillic names that I have no idea how to read
Suomi (Finnish)
Hebrew
- is there any possibility that flashing WWE will cause network problems for you? There was a gentleman or lady in this thread describing some network problems on Bell - I believe it was resolved to their satisfaction however. (In and around posts 480-490)
There may be additional questions worth asking yourself. I can't make any guarantee, but I also don't want to sound like your Dad, so here's the rest of the instructions.
- Back up EVERYTHING as much as you can. The RUU will wipe your phone. Instructions on backing up are outside the scope of this post. Back up the contents of your SD card if you plan to turn it into a goldcard.
- Get a goldcard if you don't have one already. http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how...te-a-goldcard/ , but skip section II and steps 3 & 4 under section III. Instead of those steps, use the Astro method outlined in the comment on that page by 'rooli'; the comment starts with: "i had really big problems getting the cid till i found out all you need is the "astro" app.... than:" Then proceed from step 5.
- Insert your goldcard into the phone. Connect your phone to your PC via USB. You may need to install HTC Sync in order to get USB drivers.
- I believe you should be able to run the RUU from within normal device operations mode, but if you have to go into Fastboot to do it like I did (my phone was badly messed up from before) you will need suitable USB drivers from the Android SDK. The SDK is a free download which also requires the Java JDK to be installed.
- Once your device is successfully connected, run the RUU. Ensure your phone is at least 30% charged and that your PC will not lose power during the operation. (Do it on a laptop with a decent battery charge, put your desktop PC on a battery backup, etc.) Follow any other precautions the RUU provides.
NOTE: You may want to try flashing RUU 2.03 (available at shipped-roms.com) or something onto the phone first as a test-run, because that won't bring your HBOOT so far ahead version-wise and having an older HBOOT can be pretty handy in some cases. Once you're satisfied that the 2.03 RUU is done and the WWE is working, maybe updating to 3.15 (FroYo) will be easier. It's your choice.
That should be all there is to it! If I've overlooked anything, please let me know.

my phone cant install the new froyo update.
when installing it goes to the known red traingle with the ! mark.
things i tried.
renaming update to update.zip en tried to install. -failed
formatting SD card -failed
other Sd card -failed
factory reset -failed
anyone some ideas/solutions?
the same question!
So with this progress we will have our community which will called "Fckng Red Triangle"
Same here for me. A brand new unrooted Legend.
I'll try with another SD card after work.
a have faith soon we will have a working froyo.
maybe its something ****ing simple.
ill keep on trying.
Same here... Very dissapointing.
hmmm im happy that i am not the only one with the problem.
with more people its easier to find a solution
When I try to install it from the recovery mode, I got : "Error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7)".
I'm looking on the web if there some same trouble resolved. I found some topic about the NExus one having the same issue... Now we have to find how solve this...
yes! I'm waiting now for answer from htc support... maybe them will give a good solution?
and i'm downloading now the update from my phone one more time :-D
the same here.. tried to update trough recovery mode.. no luck though.
Red exclamation mark at 25%-33%
SD card has 248MB left, internal memory is now 45MB (I removed some apps after first error), so I don't think it's related to free space...
Note that my phone was originally branded (SFR - Vodafone France), but previous OTA updates worked fine :'(
after I40 user:
From OTA_Legend_Froyo_S_HTC_WWE_3.15.405.3-2.05.405.2_release_160.zip extract firmware.zip from it, rename it to LEGEIMG.zip and put it on your sdcard.
Reboot into recovery.
im just trying that.
After all these weeks waiting because HTC was "testing" we have an "official" **** that doesn't install... hell yeah!

this method want a goldcard...
if im lucky my other sd card is still an goldcard
ill give it a try.
The error seems to be because of the CID, anyone getting that probably needs a goldcard inserted before trying the update, I forgot mine at home booo
still no luck..
do I need a goldcard to apply this update from sd?
I'm sorry I'm a sort of noob with terminology but... what's a goldcard ?
Is this SD card related ? Is the packaged card a goldcard ? (I'm currently using my old 8gb I had with my Touch HD...)
(Edited: Ok, I found some explanations... Whaaw! Do we really need to do all this stuff just for an official update from HTC ??)

Tired of waiting until your service provider releases HTC updates for your branded phone?
Here comes your step by step guide on how to unbrand or debrand your HTC HD2/Leo using a PSAS Goldcard.
(Thanks go to svc und oliverweidel)
Introduction:
What does a Goldcard do? Mark's post answers this best:
"All a GoldCard will do is bypass the carrier ID check when you attempt to flash a stock rom via the microsd card that you wrote the GoldCard to. A GoldCard [as such] won't unbrand your phone, that is only acomplished by flashing an HTC Stock Rom [with your Goldcard]. If you flash a carrier's Stock Rom [with your Goldcard] then it will still be branded with whatever that carrier added to it. That means that you have to use that same card everytime you want to flash a stock rom and you have to use the same method to flash it (via the same microsd card). It wont sim unlock your phone and it wont let you flash any other roms apart from stock roms".
Note:
If you experience problems:
- Check first whether you have correctly followed each step carefully
- Read the Troubleshoot Section below
- Search the thread for a similar problem
- Post a question (Please do not send me a PM with support requests but post them. Thank you!)
A. Prerequisites:
A.1. Micro SD card (no SDHC [HighCapacity], it needs to be <4GB)
A.2. The "PSAS" Software
A.3. PC with ActiveSync or MobileDeviceCenter Connection to your HD2 (Guest is good enough)
B. Make your SD Card a Gold Card:
B.1. Back up your system (especially your SD-Card!! for a Goldcard you have to format your SD-Card)
B.2. Format your Micro SD card with FAT32
B.3. Insert your formatted SD Card into your HD2
B.4. Connect your device to your PC (ActiveSync/MobileDeviceCenter)
B.O.1. Option 1: PSAS Full Version:

D.5. Boot to homescreen
D.6. When on homescreen –> Softreset
D.7. For more information, read the first page of the Artemis Forum
*** Troubleshooting ***
In case you experience a problem check these points:
1. Is your card a no SDHC Card? -> SDHCCards (all cards 4GB or bigger) often cause problems, especially many of the no- or low-brand cards.
Then, follow these steps again:
2.1. Format your card again, using a Windows PC instead of the HD2's card utility.
2.2 File System must be FAT32 and allocation unit size 4096 Bytes
2.2. Make sure your card has no name (no Volume Label).
2.3. Double check your drive ID. You need the CID of drive ID 07.
2.3. Double check your CID.
3.1. Download your HTC Stock ROM a second time.
3.2. Extract RUU_signed.nbh from the newly downloaded Stock ROM again.
3.3. Rename RUU_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.NBH.
3.4. Copy LEOIMG.NBH to your newly formatted and try again.
4. It didn't help? Post a support request on this thread with a detailed description of your problem and when it occurs.
Note: Do not send me a PM with support requests but post your problem here. More persons can help you and others benefit from it as well. Thank you!
Nice job pcwe! Hope this will help many LEO owners to flash the great Artemis v.40 by Sir sternas...
So, HSPL actually will not be neccessary to flash 3.14 Stock roms (SPL 3.03...)

No, HSPL does not go well together with Stock Rom 3.14/Artemis40.
But using Goldcard, you don't need to remove HSPL before starting. It removes everything on the device.
Howdy,
very nice thread!
One question:
HSPL will be overwritten through this procedure - thats clear as eggs in eggs - but will the stock rom from sd card start to flash without hspl?
Maybe stupid, but I thought, I read something about this somewhere...

Shinson
Thanks pcwe. The goldcard image you sent worked perfectly. I was able to install the stock 3.14 ROM on my Telstra HD2, and then Artemis v 40.0 ROM

with this Goldcard you can flash every rom on your HD2 you dont need anything on hd2. If HTC Build the HD2 the first flashwas with debug same as Goldcard.

A gold card comes with its own boot environment. Its only kicked on by your bootloader (whatever version) and flashes all: Your current bootloader, radio, OS etc. Aftewards you have an unbranded HTC device like one bought in shop.
I, yesterday, tried the "gold card-method", following step by step the tutorial.
But, unfortunately, flashing process stopped at "Os" level.
I went back to artemis V37, but i'll try again, perhaps sdcard issue ?
Thank you for your tutorial, pcwe.

Try formatting your card on Windows PC (it must be FAT32). Then insert it into the device, but do not format it again. Then follow the steps to get to your CID and send a PM for another Goldcard image.
Sorry but I'm just a bit confused why you created a thread with the heading as [TUT] which has no tutorial apart from a link to the artemis roms thread which then links to another thread that gives instructions on flashing via a goldcard (which has already been written a longg time ago). I commend oliverweidel on offering to make goldcards for members as I have made about 20 in the last 2 days and it does get a bit tedious lol.
Maybe you could just explain to me why this thread is labeled as a tutorial when it has no tutorial when its really just a link to a tutorial.. Sorry im not trying to be mean or flame this thread I'm just a bit lost as to what its propose is lol
Ohh and I'm on my phone right now using xda app so if something didn't display and I actually missed the proper tutorial then i humbly apologize for this post lol.

Thanks for your input. I'm glad you mentioned that you're working on your phone. Maybe I misunderstand what a tutorial is. When you watch it on a PC, though, you see a tutorial that includes 4 sections with a total of 43 steps (including 2 options). I only link to the PSAS page and to the Artemis' frontpage. So IMHO this is a tutorial. Since you are a very experienced XDA moderator, I hope you get to see the full thread and let me know what you think about it. I'm looking forward to receiving your feedback.
(And yes, I made 15 Goldcards over the weekend, so I'm happy we can share the load )
When I turn the phone off after following all the steps and hold volume down and press power button the bootloader screen laods but it doesnt load the LEOIMG.nbh.
At the bottom it just says 'Serial'.
What am I doing wrong? I have followed all the instructions.
Although maybe I didnt get the correct Goldcard image? I went to the psas website and clicked on 'Free Goldcard gererator'
You then enter your email and sdcard id and you get emailed a goldcard image. Does this one not work?
I also got the phone to format the sd card as it does format it to FAT32

For some reason when viewed on the xda app it shows absolutely none of your tutorial apart from:

1. Micro SD card (non HCSD that is
Softreset

Maybe its all the quotes in your post but you can understand why I was confused when I first saw it lol
I may have to contact the creator of psas as ALOT of people are now asking for GoldCards and at the moment they can only be created with a paid for version of the program so if he has objections about using it to make goldcards for anyone who asks then it may have to stop. I originally asked him about 6 months ago for permission to make goldcards for members who had mistakenly flashed a stock rom via sd card whose spl wasnt covered by HardSPL (to get them out of a hole and allow them to flash a rom with a lower SPL). Looks like people are now wanting goldcards purely to change stock roms for which they should really be using a paid for version of psas.
I will try to get hold of him over the next few days and ask if he has objections to making goldcards for users who havent already buggered their phones up then I will let you know.
Keep up the good work
Mark.

That doesn't work, its for Android only (see the title of the page). You have to follow the instructions on the first page of this thread. You either need to by PSAS (Option1) or ask somebody that has it (Option2) to generate one for you.

Guys, last night I got flooded with requests for Goldcards. I case your request is still unanswered, PM me again.
Feedback appreciated
Did your Goldcard work? Drop a line here. Thanks.
Hey guys,
First and foremost, I would like to say I have no idea about anything, and everything on this website is in a foreign language to me (can't understand anything), so please bear with me. I set up a new thread because after reading everything, I still don't get anything (being a noob).
I just signed up with vodaphone in australia to get a HTC Legend (my first android and smart phone after using n73 for the last 3years). Everything is going fine until I wanted to get apps from the android market. I didnt have a gmail account, so I signed up for one through my computer. However, when i tried signing in through the phone google account set-up wizard, after waiting 5mins for the phone to communicate with google servers, it fails and the phone would not let me, citing that it cant establish a reliable data connection to the server, being a temporary problem (Tried it with both 3G and wi-fi, also with 2 other friend's log-in). Any help on this would be good. Also, with HTC sync 3.0, I was unable to sync and backup all my sms for a factory reset. Is there any other ways to do this without the apps? Additionally, I cannot update my software to Froyo (Firmware 2.2) FOTA or finding a download for it onto my comp as the phone says my software is up-to-date (But HTC Australia shows that there is an update for Software 2.2 FOTA).
Alright, I know what goes through your mind, get the apps to do that, but without the sign-up for gmail settings, I cant access Market, cant download apps, basically cant do anything (and mind you, I dont know about programming or xda or anything of that sort to check the shell script or whatever that goes on in the forum).
I've went around looking for answers but never really got a definition, mostly about how-to's which I am not interested as I have no idea what they are.
What is flashing?
What is rooting?
What is un-branded or Vodaphone branded (in my case, if it makes sense)?
What is a goldcard and what's it for?
Is RUU or custom rom or rom the same thing? does that have to do with my firmware? and what is it?
What's with downgrading and upgrading for other stuff (to versions 1.1/1.3)?
What is Clockwork and Fastmode and all those other stuff?
What's the latest firmware/software for Legend (2.2 or 3.0) as I have read threads with firmware 1.3 or 3.3 (or something of that sort)?
I know I AM the biggest noob you guys will ever find. Seriously, no websites actually explain all these stuff, and I'm getting paranoid over using an android phone. I know you guys might just tell me to get a simpler phone, but I upgraded to an android to know more about it.
Thanks in advance guys, if any help can be provided. I have a cool phone, but I wanna use it fully.
Regards,
William

I just helped about with the basics, the more experienced people will be able to answer you better. Did you get a black Legend?
hey man, thanks for that. mightily helpful.
however, wat do u mean by various settings for wifi? there arent much to set.
also, what do u mean by debranding as well? like not go vodaphone or smtg like dat?
btw, i have a silver Legend i think? the metallic case.

There are apps on the market, if you can sort the issue above then check those out.

You are correct, I have said about apps. If you temproot using visionary you can install Titanium backup which can backup everything. Both of these are available for "sideloading". Without a file manager on your phone I can't think of an easy way to install them. What I'd do is go to the settings, make sure USB debuging is on (Settings --> applications --> development) and then use adb to install it:
Code:
adb devices
adb install Visionary.apk
adb install Titanium-Backup.apk
This is assuming that you rename the files to Visionary and Titanium-Backup, and have them in the same directory as ADB. For an easy installation of ADB do this:
Download this file and unzip it to C:\Android\ADB\
Open cmd (start orb/button, type "cmd" and hit enter)
In cmd do this:
Code:
cd C:\Android\ADB
Now you can use the adb command listed above. If you have the apk files in the same folder you can pretty much copy-paste those commands

Flashing is the process of writing a new operating system to NAND (internal) memory, otherwise known as flash memory
Rooting is like gaining administrator rights on a Windows PC. On Unix-like systems (Android, Linux, OSX) this is known as the root account, hence "rooting"
Vodafone branded means that Vodafone has it's logos and apps on there. Think of the ROM on your phone as a custom ROM, made by Vodafone. You need to wait for Vodafone to update it. Un-branded simply mean that all of that is gone, it's like having the ROM that HTC meant for it. So we only need to wait for HTC to update it
A goldcard is an SD card that has been specially prepared for making the phone think it's CID is different. I don't fully understand how it works, all we need to know is that it does, and that we need one for rooting
ROM and firmware are the same thing RUU is "ROM Upgrade Utility". It's a method made by HTC for upgrading the phones firmware. A custom ROM is simply a ROM that's been customised. It may be based on the official ROM from HTC, or the open source version of Android
ClockworkMOD is an open source recovery image. It allows us to do full backups of the NAND memory (nandroid backup), as well as easily installing new ROMs/updates. These come in zip files Fastboot is a way to test stuff quickly. It allows you to flash certain parts of a ROM without the need to flash the whole thing, as well as boot from a kernel that isn't flahed to the device. It's a dev thing
The latest version of Android for the Legend (officially) is 2.2. HTC firmwares follow a different numbering scheme. HTC ROMs v. 1.x and 2.x are based on Android 2.1, and v. 3.x is based on 2.2

Hello her last day i got a new legend and it was black and it looks like my old htc hero
Hi @all,
as my thread was closed but i still want to thank you and share my experiences, i'll create this new thread.
It belongs to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=926835 but maybe also can help other guys to get root on theire updated unrooted phones.
this weekend i did the work and finaly i can say:
on my phone I AM root!!!
Just to thank you and maybe help some less experienced people here, i will give you a small overview and some hints for changes to be done for the tutorials to work with the desire z.
so thanks for your help, it worked like a charm.
For the backup i used myBackup as it doesnt require root for backing up and it restored my data as i wished. So myBackup is the product i can recomment. It is available as 30days-demo and so is enough for the process of down- and reupgrading.
Another thing to remind in the following steps is: at any time usb-debugging works with the htc-sync-mode, too. so use this mode, as usb-mode at any time, as in another case (harddisk-mode) the phone cant access the sdcard anymore.
After the backup i removed the card from the phone and worked on with a blank one.
The following both tutorials i used:
Goldcard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683&highlight=gold+card
Down-Reupgrade: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting
You may also use this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503
This one describes all the goldcard und down/upgrade-stuff explicitly for the desire z, but it looks a bit more hacky and seems to be good for people already experienced with hex-editors and rooting, also it doesnt mention, that the first 2 chars of the cardcode neet to be converted to "00", thats why i recommended the other tutorials.
I formated it to fat32 and put it into the phone, this step wasnt mentioned in the tutorial, so i tell it to all who dont know.
Then i read the card-ID with adb. Here is another problem with the tutorial. The DesireZ had no mmc1 with valid data, for the desire z you have to read the cid from mmc2!!! (just change the path from the tutorial) (so: adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid)
After that remove the card from the phone and reinster into the cardreader and do the patching with the image and the hexeditor.
Then youre done with the first tutorial (in step 18) and can move on with the cyanogen one (as it seems more trustful )
So now reinsert into the phone and copy the firmwareimage and then "update" to the older version (was very nervouse while that, but succeeded finaly )
If you get an Error in "/data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.33.405.5" (i got one like "unable to backup") you have not inserted the sdcard or used the filetransfermode, so the card is not mounted into the phones filesystem.
If so, switch to htc-sync-mode and try the command again.
When in the firmwareupgrade-mode after the reboot, you can navigate with vol-up and vol-down and enter with the powerkey.
After permroot install the rom of your chioce, best one with allready permroot done, that saves work
i decided for the virtuous as it has sense, any other/better rom someone can recomment???
When done that, too, at first reinsert the original sdcard with your backup on and restore that backup, as it overwrites existing data, it would be best to avoid any sms or calls to arrive before you restored the data, as those calls and messages will be lost.
After that you can set up all things you want and finaly you are done with a new 1.72 rooted and unbranded phone.
Thanks all for your help especially to guhl for giving me those links and taking the fear from me of bricking my phone....
Yours TK

There's a Vision-specific Gold card guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503&highlight=debrand , which does uses mmc2, you might want to link that one up instead ?

I only use 1.34 because I haven't got round to trying anything else yet. But it works well enough not for me to want to get away from it as soon as possible. Virtuous is a popular Sense-based ROM, and I may well give that a try (it's based on 1.72 as well).
I use the 1.72 virtuous and feel good with it, as i have the impression that it is a bit smoother and the batteryusage seems to be a bit improved, but dunno if thats realy cuz of the new rom.
Only disadvantage, max volume doesnt seem to be bettered up, hope that gets solved soon
hoped to hear of any other rom with that solved and maybe packed with some nice gimmicks

Assalam aleikum,
Hi Iam using a german vodaphone 1.72 rom and want to downgrade to get permaroot and so on for a brother,
I Tried to get the downgrade working with this scripture but it dont works i ve done all the way down from goldcart with hexediting stuff and so on but when i reach the point to flash the 1.3 rom on hboot i get everytime a wrong cid error message and he wont install
is there a way to change the CID? for vodafone phones?
hi
i've been trying to downgrade my girlfriends new desire z (bought in a german store). but everytime i tried to flash the PC10IMG.zip in the bootloader via fastboot, it startet searching for it, found it, checked it and then brought up an error "incorrect CID", which i didn't quite understood. i checked the infocid and it's HTC__102, so i did not have to do the goldcard stuff. but i still did not get it working. solution was: not every PC10IMG.zip you can find in the various threads about downgrading the desire z seems to work, for me only the one found in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261 worked.
just wanted to let you know, in case anyone is searching for a solution for this problem
Hi folks, i'm looking for 2 days a way to solve my DHD problem:
It can't boot anymore. It pop up the "htc quietly brilliant" screen, play the boot sound and, start this step again, and again, and again...
So I'm googling a LOT about how to solve this, if exist a way to restore the original rom. Because i'm thinking that was the problem, my original rom is gone.
That happens when i try to install 3 softwares from appbrain, my device got freeze and i hit the power button to reset. So, after that, my device is gone.
So i came here, to ask you folks: There is a way to recover the original rom ? Without send to warranty (because it spend something like 1 month here).
I'm not a mobile hacker or something, i'm just trying to be happy with my device.
Thanks a lot and sorry for my poor english!!
Perhaps try booting to the bootloader, by holding Power + Volume down button. From there, you should be able to do a factory reset, which may or may not fix your problem. Worth a shot at least, imo
And if it does not work when you do a factory reset, you can use a rom.zip from HTC RUU to restore your phone.
Now the important thing is to know which HTC rom you are running. If it is unbranded, 1.72.405.3 is a sure shot. Download the RUU.exe from Stock roms thread in android development subforum, and run it. When the window pops up, open run prompt, and type: "%TEMP%". Then search for rom.zip, copy it to your desktop, rename it to PD98IMG.zip and put it to your SD card (I hope that you have a card reader). Then just reboot to bootloader as tmh described, and watch the magic happen
Then if your phone is branded, you can still use the same technique to make PD98IMG.zip, but you have to get the RUU that matches your branding. There are lots of RUUs in android development subforum, just search.
Hi guys,
thanks a lot for quik reply!
I perform the procedure indicated by tmh, but without lucky ;\
I think it is unbranded. I buy it at Portugal and i'm using at Brazil right now.
I'll perform your tip jkoljo.
I'll post a repply to let people know if it works or not.
Thanks a lot!!
Hope the advice the last guy gave helps , a factory re set may work fine and fix the issue. Iv had 3 dhd since the day of release , the second one I had wouldn't switch on, had it replaced by Vodafone . Not sure weather or not they will give you a new one . Hope u get it fixed

the different is just the radio version. just try flash one of them and see if that work.
WWE means World Wide English, which is an international release

Sorry ask for your help again, but at Official thread (thread number 841207) for DHD files, both 1.72.405.3 links are broken.
So i search for another thread, and found another one, but when i run the .exe, it ask for a USB connection to device, so it appears wrong.
Could you gimme a hand to find the correct file?
PS: I can help with a web hosting to all correct files.
You probably found the correct RUU, now proceed to %TEMP% and copy rom.zip to desktop.
You can find RUUs here: http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
I am not completely sure if those zip files are actual rom.zips, you can check that. Open up the zip, and if it has a long list of hboot, system, android-info.txt etc, then it is rom.zip and you can just go ahead and rename it to PD98IMG.zip.

Hi again,
i keep a little hope that i can restore my phone, so i found a possible solution:
OTA update.
At "showthread.php?t=667728&page=2", i found a guy with the same problem i think, here is the quote:
Kinma said:
I had the same problem last week.
I suspected it had to do with the EXT3 partition.
Solved it by first flashing the OTA 2.2 ROM (for rooted users) as this does not use the EXT3. Then used Rom manager to recreate the EXT3.
Now all ROMs that use the EXT3 run fine!

You are welcome.
What happened was that after a reboot of the phone the phone started rebooting in the boot sequence, i.e. a boot loop.
I tried a lot of things and nothing worked.
Finally I suspected that the problem might be with the SD card. I had a backup, so I had no problem doing a factory reset.
Then I booted the phone without the SD card.
The phone booted fine.
That way I was certain that the problem was with the SD card.
I had 2 partitions on the SD card, an EXT3 part and the rest was a normal Fat part.
I could still read the card, so I made a backup of all the data on the card.
Then I reformatted the card using windows.
The phone booted fine with an empty, reformatted, SD card.
Since I use Apps 2 SD, I had to recreate the EXT3 partition.
If your rom does not use this, you do not have to do this.
After recreating the EXT partition, put back all files that I want on my SD card.
My advice would be to do a factory reset and after that boot the phone without the SD card.
If the phone boots, you know the problem is with the card.
Hope that helps; good luck!

I'm really without luck with this.
I do:
- Factory reset
- Clear cache and userdata
- Boot without SD or/and SIM cards
- Reflash RUU WWE 1.72.405.3 Radio 26.04.02.17_M2

- erase all SD
One show was use OTA update.zip, but at this step i got "invalid operation"
SO, nothing works!
Well, it appears a lost battle =\
thanks folks for all help.
Yeah, there must be something wrong in your device itself, for example a motherboard fault. Send it back to HTC.

Hi,

Hi Guys, Just did something I though t I should share, I sim unlocked and updated to Android 2.2.2. on my Telstra T-Touch, IdeosS7 or what ever other name it goes under.
It now works with Vodafone, 3mobile, optus, virgin and even woolworths and Telstra Sims, I did this with 3 T-touch device all working and no issues, hope you all have the same luck.
They are the S7-104 models
How, first download the Russian Ideo S7 from Huawei site,
huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3212&tb=0
select the software tab and download the from the following selection:
S7 V100R001C70B112(Russia Channel)
2011-08-24 Host Software -- 128.76MB English
Unzip the file and extract the dload folder completely.
Format a blank Micro SD card in your pc and copy the dload folder to the root directory
******* BACK UP YOUR DATA *******I wont be held reponsible for any loss of data or stuffed up equipment
Power of the unit and remove battery, place MIcroSD into the Devcie, replace battery and cover and turn on, wait, the device should show a status bar and when complete the word 'OK' the device will now reboot, when it turns off, and before it restarts, remove the SD card and wait for the unit to cycle through and install the software, it may restart 2 or 3 time then ask you to calibrate the screen, this might happen twice as it did for me, and after that it was perfect.
You need to change the input keyboard to english and add your APN data Australian data can be found here:
hdmp4.com/APN
And that should be that at least for me it was, best of luck.
You could use the Norwegian Rome as well, which was what many of us had done. The unlocking is also permanent meaning you can flash to another rom later if you want to. Eg I flash to the telstra 2.2 later for better stability (for me).
