So, last night I decided to givemedia hub a whirl and downloaded 300 and watched the whole movie on the phone and I never realized how good this phones screen is for HD. It looks better than my tv.
But anyways, riht after the movie was done, I downloaded and watched V for Vendetta and fell asleep afterwards without charging, and right now I'm at 13hr 34min with screen on time of 5hr and 43 minutes.
Id say this phone handles media playback quite well lol

Yeah its good to watch movies on this screen.I downloaded about 5 from media hub sofar.Dont forget the files are stored on your sdcard,I had to delete them manually for some reason.
I love using the tv.com app and watching STAR TREK: TOS episodes. Anytime they use a communicator, I feel a tremendous inner geek fire and oh how warm it is. Heh heh.
veoh.com/iphone is high on my list, that and I rip alot of movies to the phone in high qulity, about 1.3gb on most hour and a half movies.
I also highly recommend : Droid Streamer
it's free on the market and streams tv shows, movies, and anime @ 480i compressed. There's a Pro version, but i dont know what features you get with that.
How much gb is a movie file?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
droid streamer is nice but it seems like it wants to much info, but I do keep it on the sdcard and install when I want to use it...Media Hub files range in size, most are around 900mb - 1.1gb

I wouldn't call droid steamer nice per se, but it is free and gets the job done when bored, altho the dev. needs to use a better player that can do aspect ratios.
Do Media Hub movies play @ 720p for 1gb -/+ files?
I think they are 720p native.
now if we could just find something that will allow us tpo play them through allshare woudl be great, i hate allshare can never get it to play any damn video
I use double twist for my player. Keep my music playlists there and watch TV shows and moveis with it. I transfer movies and shows from my pc to my sd card on my phone. And yes, it HD looks fantastic on Super AMOLED. It's the best screen I've seen on a phone

One cool feature i like is it lets you airsync your andriod to your itunes player. Do you know of a app that's similar to this but streams to WMP or VLC player?
How cool it would be to show the GT screen on TV through DLNA.. why use the HDMI dock if this would be possible.
Does anyone feel up to take the challenge of making such an app?
I would pay for such an app...anyone ells?

The CPU overhead would make it virtually unusable even if it can be done.
I believe you can stream movies and such to DNLA compatible TVs...
Don't think you can stream just the home screen though...

Correct, I can use the Allshare to stream videos directly to my Samsung TV, and it works quite well. But it doesn't do the whole UI, essentially it's just pushing the datastream to the TV and the TV does the decoding/rendering, so the only overhead is the usual WiFi processing, plus a little for AllShare.
It's actually a fairly practical solution other than the relatively limited codec support, which is still surprisingly good (It'll play some .MKV files!)
Sixaxis Controller is an Android application which allows the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 Playstation controllers to be used as bluetooth input devices on many mobile phones and tablets. This enables the ultimate gaming experience to be had in a completely portable form factor.
Up to four controllers are supported at once, and key mappings are completely configurable, as well as the analog sticks, which are currently emulated as digital key presses.

this is good, but what games can this play on the XPlay?

I could think of one game where the experience would be greater, medal of honor wich also uses the R/L 2 buttons wich I've maped to the volume button. Not so handy nor fast
It would have been the bomb if SE had made tv out or hdmi

It's great for other android users but I don't see myself getting my x10 out with a ds3 controller in public while waiting for my train or sitting my ride out haha.

That could be the final idea.
Think about transmitting your screen to another via WLAN or whatever and then just grabbing the nearest controler - pairing - gaming extreme.

As much as I love my Play as well would totally bring my ps3 w/ ds3 with me everywhere. I usually have a backpack at all times (Im weird like that) the controller is very light, kinda small and making an equally light-weight mount is fairly strait forward, and even if I never use it outside the house it's a very convenient portable N64 or PS1. And I have both of those too!
And there goes productivity...

Okay, my goal was to play ps2, gamecube, wii or any pc game on the xperia play. And I knew that can't be done via emulation... BUT you can do that via streaming(local or internet)
here's the result of my test via internet streaming:

why am I using teamviewer? because... we can only use the directional cross...
FOR NOW!!! 'cause, I contacted the splashtop team and they will work on adding the gaming controller.... http://support-remote.splashtop.com/requests/5647
Maybe if we are alot to demand that, they will add the gaming controller faster...
Also, you can get splashtop for free (5$ on market):

I don't really get why people try SO hard to play cool PC games on their XP via internet. This way only works on WIFI, so why da F would you rather play a good pc game on your xperia play? Instead of playing it on your computer like it supposed to be? I can see if it would work on 3g, but as we all know, 3g is no way near fast enough to stream a good quality game to our Xperia play.
So, if you CAN'T play a good quality pc game like lets say GTA 4 over 3g (with team viewer, onLive or other ways), then i'm not interested.
nice try either way dude. Not trying to bast your balls or nothing like that.
I'm so sorry, but I think that playing like this is a bit dumb.
I mean, you can only play via wifi (via 3g? lol no), and as seen on the video, you have to stay near the wifi device that outputs the signal for playing without lag, so in that case, I find smarter to play the game on the PC instead on a mobile after having to open a program on the PC and another on the Xplay.

Does it really matter? It's the same f-ing thing in the end? What i'm talking about is WHY for THE LOVE F GOD would you rather play a good PC game on your phone instead of your PC? :S I don't care if the app is made for just mirroring the pc screen or made for gaming, you won't be able to play it via 3g anyway so why even bother?
The ONLY reason i can see this would be cool if you got some friends over and you be like "Hey! I can play call of duty on my phone hahaha you can't!" and your pals will be like "ok.. but it looks like it lags like ****, and why is call of duty running on your pc? plus, can you play it anywhere". You answer "Well.. no but you.." and your friends says "HAH! .. then it's gay as ****".
That's exactly how it is.. bro. Prove me wrong.

I use OnLive on my laptop with no lag so why should it lag on my phone. Also why would i need 3G? I have WiFi at home and when im out i'm very rarely in a position to say oooh why don't i play a game on my phone. You seem to think OnLive just mirrors a desktop it's nothing like that. Yeah onlive is a totally different thing than this. HTC (afaik) spend 40 mill $ on this project and they're gonna bring it to smartphones and tablets in Q1 2012 where you can actually play games with a controller and hook it up to your tv (if the device got hdmi, wich those devices released with onlive will have). You've got a brand new console, a mobile one i might ad. I do see the point in onlive.

Dude, i know what OnLive is. But you still don't see my point do you?
Why would you wanna play a PC game on your phone? Instead of your computer like it's supposed to be? XP is a phone that also is made as an portable gaming device. But this isn't going to work. 3G network isn't fast enough to run good games in perfect speed (prove me wrong). So even IF it would work to play games on our play, we still would have to play via WIFI. And if that was the case, i would still rather play the game on my xbox or my pc. Not on a tiny ass phone.
The day someone will come up to me with their play and show me that they can play lets say GTA 4 (over 3G of course), then I'll be interested. But as it looks now? No thank you..

So you take your PC everywhere do you? The world is full of free WiFi hotspots, every coffee shop, every mc donalds blah blah blah. Lol no ****, I don't see how this other dude is even arguing against OnLive in any way. During a typical day in my life I am covered by Wi-Fi about 95% of the time. The only time I really don't have WiFi is when I'm driving, which obviously I won't be playing Just Cause 2 while I'm operating a vehicle.
OnLive is probably the absolute best possible thing that could happen to the Xperia play. Now not only will we be able to play every game pre-PS2 era, but we'll get access to just about every major release going forward into the future. How could you possibly not be excited about this? Also, the smaller the screen being outputted to, the better OnLive looks/works. It will require far less bandwidth for a smooth experience on the Xplay and look much better than on a 23'' monitor/HDTV.
Another huge plus - since console are such hot **** nowadays, most games are designed with a gamepad in mind now, so controlling them on the XPlay won't be a complete nightmare.
Bottom line, we'll be playing Deus Ex:HR on our phones within a couple of months, if this thing gets released on time.
ok i don't know what world u guys living in that you got time to sit at mc donalds and play games? :S Don't you have any work or some important stuff to do?

Lol so you post on an XDA forum for the Xperia Play - a cell phone that doubles as a portable video game "console." You obviously enjoy the device. So you're going to sit there and tell me that you only play games on your phone when you're at home, where you don't have the ability to "enjoy your life and your friends?"
WTF are you talking about? Why would you have this phone if you didn't enjoy gaming on the go? How is adding more games to the library at all something anyone would not want?! You baffle me, sir!

You're wrong sir I DO enjoy games. I play small games, like one race of Asphalt on a break. Or 5 minutes Muffin knight or something like that. But i don't wanna jump in max 5 minutes only to play Call of duty or something like that. IF i wanna play a serious game, i want to play it for minimum 45 minutes, and i don't have 45 minutes free when i'm not at home. That's what I mean. You get it?

The PS3 controller will connect via BT to the Note.. however
a) you must root the N7000
b) download the paid app "sixaxis"
c) manually pair the controller to your N7000 using a PC
d) setup a key map profile in the sixaxis app for each game...this bit isnt easy.
This would have been a great thread if someone would have a) stated the above and b) provided the key map..
Q) Why use the N7000 for games?..
A) Because you can
yeah it's cool

As the CPUs/GPUs get better on mobile devices, why wouldn't want to play games outputted onto a big screen TV? I mean we are already carrying mini-computers in our pockets already which do many things that full size computers do: email, browsing, office productivity, communications, etc.
I love playing games on my Note but replace my XBOX 360? haha
Its not even remotely close to that yet but for mobile gaming this cant be beat.
