New swype update - Nexus One General

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up there is a new swype update out.
Version:2.15.56.14870.t100

Seriously will this app EVER get out of beta so we can get it legitimately?
I'm not kidding! They've been beta-ing this for what, almost a year?

What's in the update

I have this legitimately through their beta program and others have it as a stock application on their phone through OEM agreements.

gmail was in beta for a good four or so years

I'd kill for a Swype beta invite.

I got the email but when I clicked the link the post int he forum it linked to was from the November update, so I didn't bother updating... but that build number is definitely newer. That was a quick update... I wonder what was changed so quickly after they let us suffer with it for several months?
Edit: Changelog for people to lazy to find it themselves:
INSTALLER v.1.1.15121
* Revised installer workflow. Users can now enable Swype and select it as the default input method from within the Swype installer.
* The installer now includes a repair feature. If a previous installation failed, or if the existing Swype BETA installation is broken (missing/corrupt license, etc), the installer will attempt to resume the installation process and repair any broken elements.
* Clarified error messages to give a more accurate description of the specific problem encountered.
* Added links to the tutorial and tips-and-tricks videos to the end of the installation.
SWYPE BETA v2.15.56.14870
* Added support for new installer features, such as version checking and installation repair.
* Merged the most recent changes from trunk (mostly device-specific bugfixes)

Yup knew it swype gmailed me the new beta update.. I am still rocking on the new gingerbread keyboard... looks really good

I hate swype, mostly because I'm not allowed to use it!
What's a guy gotta do to get an invite to the beta program?!

YES!!!! I just got an invite for the Swype Beta today!

I think I got my beta invite in like less then a week when I signed up right before it was banned from being posted on xda.

I've installed the new swype keyboard but I can't change it, I'm using gingerbread keyboard right now

I was just accepted into the BETA Today!!!! YES

Funny that I posted about killing for an invite, and less than a day later I got said invite.

Love swype, want it on my Nexus. I wonder if there is a waiting list or what, their web site just says closed beta?

Holy crap! I just got my invite to the beta after posting my massage! I love this keyboard!

I got an invite to the swype Beta as well! Oh Happy Day

You guys are killing me how long ago was it that you signed up for the beta program?

Swype died today

My version of swype (1.25.16.5612) died today. I searched and found a newer version (1.56.30.7625) but it tells me it was made for a different phone so it won't work. Does anyone know of a link for a working swype for our phone? Thanks.
I just dl'd THESE, about to try them.

Yep that works.
The time between nukes is getting sooner and sooner. I wonder if they are planning on releasing something soon.
However, I always thought Swype decided to go the manufacture route and sell directly to them... But then they have that Beta... But then there is no indication they are going to sell this as an app and they only market Swype as a feature of certain phones.
I think they might have an old licensing contract that states they can't sell Swype as an app to individuals but that contract might be expiring soon.
Does anyone know what the hell is going on with that company and Swype?
I have no idea what the inside scoop is but it boggles my mind that Swype isn't on the market for $5 or even $10.

Agreed - I could do five. btw/ thanks much for posting up the links in the other thread. I went to text my g/f this morning and was horrified I could not swype. I was so dazed, I just gave up on texting for that moment. =P
1.56 working perfectly.

yeah my version of swype died the same day as the TS did, found a verison that worked later on that day, then got my beta invite that night. It was swype over-load

New Version 3.70.651.1

Didn't see any posts about this, but it came across today at work. it said release date was 12-13, but that was yesterday, so....
Unfortunately, i don't have the exact changelog in front of me, but it included some pretty cool stuff, like Swype keyboard, a try it/buy it game from gamesoft, and others.
anyone else hear about this update?

This + This + This = Hard to get excited about a stock ROM that packs in more bloat.
As a side personal note, I've been furiously working on a revamped Gingerbread theme so I'm ready and anxiously waiting.
PS: I know added absolutely nothing to this thread.
Hard to get excited about ugly aosp. And yes your post had no value added to the thread. Based off their release numbers this would be a significant jump, could be something could be nothing. It's getting bot like to hear the tired old line of bloatware.......

and what exactly do you expect people to be talking about?
The only information anyone has seen is:
HTC - EVO 4G (A9292)
Software Version: 3.70.651.1
Release Date: 12/13/2010
Method: Available OTA + Retail
PRL Version: 60671
Version: 1.90_003
Hardware Version: 0002 / 0003
Fixes:
NEW FEATURES / SERVICES IN MR3
- Blockbuster (including WM DRM 10)
- Kindle eReader
- Preloaded try/buy video game: NOVA from Gameloft
- Sprint Zone update
- Latest Telenav
- Latest VVM App
- Latest Sprint TV app
- SWYPE Keyboard
- Scan Now Widget for 4G (does not need to be available on any panel, just a widget option users could find and use).
and noone even knows where that came from for sure.
What do *I* see in there? I see a bunch of new crap features and absolutely nothing under the "Fixes" section....
So you say bloatware but my phone feels fine, have fun repeating all the other crap other folks say. makes sense, you both were iphone owners, i wouldn't expect anything less

That's what some people like to call consensus.
..and slurping CM? I slurp no man. If I wanted to I'd just buy a Nexus S or just get some of my developers to port it for me - but having someone like CM (and the other developers) is just a bit more convenient and non-stupid.
...and with that I exit this thread.

oh no I owned an iphone for 2 years! Say you what you will but there's something to be said about a phone that doesn't need a firmware update every month or to be plugged in every 12 hours......
Don't get me wrong I love my Evo, I just wish it was as trusty as every other phone I've ever owned. In fact, I would go as far to say that technically the Evo is the most unreliable phone I've ever had. There's no way I'd turn my parents loose with one. It's the price you pay for technology though. It's strange to realize that the Evo is more powerful than my eeePC, runs longer on battery, and fits in my pocket. What an age we live in.
However, I had to cook my own rom just to get this thing "usable" in my book. With the iPhone it was just jailbreak and go....

I'm guessing like any update Sprint/HTC roll out, there are going to be delays in certain parts. I'm sure it will be hitting devices sooner than later. Sprint/HTC are probably getting their servers up to par for a mass of people trying to get their phones updated.
To the mods, If I posted in the wrong location please move. Thanks
On a side note:
Please do not update if you are rooted or are going to root. Like the recent updates in the past, this may get rid of the root exploit.

This update is most likely the precursor to Gingerbread kinda like what they did right before froyo was released put everyone on the same level with all the fixes then upgrade them all at the same time no haveing to wait for differnt builds due to partition issues of course since we're rooted it doesn't matter to us really

Swype vs Voice
One of the posts following the Engadget story reported that you lose voice input when you use the swype that comes with the Sprint update. Is this true?
It makes no sense because the latest version of the Swype beta has the mic button, and voice input available.
If the voice input, mic button is not there in the version of Swype that comes with the Sprint update, it may be due to Sprint specifications. What would the point of that be.
Thank you for your time.
Ok flame away but where is the update? I dont see it in any links or my phone says there is no update available.

Hopefully that is a typo and he meant 9AM. A couple people have already gotten the update.
I guess you go to about phone and update firmware and if the firmware is ready it will give it to you?
Personally I am doubting that the rumors of anyone getting the update already are true. I can't imagine that with as many people who are watching and waiting for this that nobody who is on any of these forums has gotten anything yet.
I have been sitting here toggling back and forth between forums thinking just that and then I saw the 9pm time and it all made sense.

Yes it means the real thing is coming in about a fortnight (according to what I've read, pls feel free to correct) after the SOAK testing starts
for those of us already unlocked and running a version of 4.5.91, is it even worth the hassle of trying to sign up for the soak, and get our phones ready? (if even possible with the possible brick above our heads)
or just stay with what we got and continue riding the wave? lol
I'm not signing up for this soak. Figure after all the hard bricks and such its probably not a smart idea to try the ota over an unlocked bl/ken's gb.
Been waiting for the official release, thanks for the update.

Thread Reported. Mr. Clown, can you please step in and do your thing here?

In the survey you completed previous to this one you agreed to keep all communications confidential. If you selected "no" to that question you would never have received this new notification.
It says keep private but it also says to share this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BG8FYV5
if you want to sign up for future/current soak.
Y'all are posting in a troll thread.
