So earlier today I was listening to my music with no problems. I got home and found my replacement Vibrant waiting for me on my doorstep. I turned off my phone, took out the battery, memory card, and sim card. I got the new replacement Vibrant out of the box and put in the sim, memory card, and battery. Everything was working perfectly until a few hours later (now) when I turned on my music player and I notice I only have 5 artists on the artist page? I used to have nearly 30 on this phone. All of them were on my memory card because my previous Vibrant was rooted (so all of its internal mem was deleted) and after I rooted that Vibrant all of my music was still there. Any idea on how to get my music back?
Your music was most likely on the internal SD card of your old vibrant, not the external. And what does rooting have to do with wiping your card?

well i dont think it was on the internal because when I flashed different roms my internal memory was erased so the music would have disappeared and i was able to listen to that music for months after flashing the roms. now that i switched vibrants tho the music is suddenly gone

How can someone who roots their phone and installs custom ROMS not know the difference between internal and external memory?

How can someone not know that the Vibrant does NOT have a disk drive in it? It has internal and external flash memory.
30 whole songs? Oh noes!
Yeah, I have 300 on my Vibrant and they are on the microSD card, NOT the internal memory.
If your songs are gone, then you probably put them on the internal memory of the old phone.

Oh really?
Just put the songs back on your phone. 30 songs... should take like 10 min. Or you could just get something like Audiogalaxy from the market and stream your entire music library to the phone and not use up any space.

I've recently bought a brand new HTC HD2.
It was working just fine untill I transferred around 700+ music files(6Gigs worth of space) on the memory stick.
Ever since it has became really glitchy.
It freezes and sometimes just restarts itself.
6gb worth of music is nothing compared to what i have on my iPod.
Is this a known issue?
Is HTC HD2 not designed to load so much music on?
try removing music from the card and see if the problem stops, and always call your carrier and HTC to complain, f#3$s should be working hard on all these fixes
Well yeah, i removed the music... it works just fine.
This is so not... what i expected from HTC HD2.
Such an awesome phone, but ya what's the point of having
16 gigs of memory when your phone acts as its on down syndrome... when you have only about 6 gigs of music on it?
I have about 5GB of music no slowdowns whatsoever.... try reformating your microsd card, HR your phone, then load the music, then put it into the hd2... see how it goes..

if you have the t-mobile version then nothin is wrong with the phone...the memory card has a low class...a higher class memory card will work fine
there was a workaround mentioned a while ago that loads the music when the phone starts not when you open the music tab. I can't find it anymore but maybe that helps with your issue (btw I'm looking for that workaround too, can't find it anymore).
i beleive there is a fix something to do with sdcard power management basically your phone is scanning the sdcard and when u have lot sof files it can really mess with the phone but search the forums there should be a reg fix
HR your phone
@doctorcete: What does "HR your phone" mean?
Thanks
HR=Hard Reset

ya if you can post a link, I'd appreciate it
hey try these reg fixes in this post
should we apply all of those in that thread for it to stop searching?
The ones that have SDCARD in it but the others are good as well for battery management!
Is it possible and if so how do i do it? Im using 1 gig build and i just figured i should use it and not let it go to waste.
Well android hasnt gotten to the point of getting it installed to internal memory so no, you cant put music on internal memory, since android runs off the SD card you can put your music there and plenty of it depending on what size the SD card is.
Ok so here's the problem...Whenever I try to transfer my music or any other medias from my MediaGo Library to my X10i, the whole system's speed drops signifcantly...After dismounting, I wait for it to autolock...And when I unlock it just goes to a Blank/Black Screen...Then from there on, nothing will happen and just wait for it to drain the battery...I've tried repairing it via PC Companion countless times but still nothing happens...I have to dismount the SD card just to return to normal...So does that mean that transfering/storing medias in my x10 is useless and cannot use it for multimedia purposes??
Never seen such an issue before here in xda try flashing stock 2.1.435 rom and if that doesnt help well im afraid that i wont be able to help you, its surely not an physical issue tho.

are you using any rom?
Nope just the official 2.1 update...Tried rooting it via SuperOneClick to have access to the speed of the SD but the rooting didn't work...I tried transferring 354 songs, 700MB worth of videos and 400mb worth of pictures and wait for it to load for 6 hours and it works..But when I add beyond 354 songs, the problem returns even if I wait for it for more than 6 hours...
Your using the 3d gallery correct?
Try get quickpic it's much faster.
Does the same thing happen when transferring files by dragging and dropping to the sd card?
You sure about the capacity of your sd card? I've bought a few fake 1s from ebay that when they get past 2gb full (of 32gb) it starts to cause problems. Search for fake flash/ fake sd cards to find tools to test.

Have a 8gb SD card and with all the 354 songs, 700mb videos, 400mb photos, it would easily consume 4gb worth of space but you have to wait 6 hours though for the phone to return back to normal...But when I add more songs, thats where the problem starts...I tried also deleting all the videos and photos and replace them with songs and add beyond 354 but thats where the problem occurs...
I had the same issue with another phnoe. Your SD card might be dmaged.. try to use another one. there are a lot of softwares to make a low level format an repair. hope it helps.. And try to clean the Micro SD pins with a rubber or isopropilic alcohol
Good luck
Hi all i'm fairly new to the xda forums but I just recently had a strange occurrence happen on my S4 that I was hoping someone could help me resolve or at the very least explain it to me.
Ok well I have the sprint galaxy s4 with a 32 gb external SD card if i'm not mistaken. Well I enjoy downloading videos and files to my phone instead of using the internet to watch them because I get bad service where I work. So it's much more convenient to just download them beforehand and watch with no buffering.
Well after awhile of doing this I downloaded androzip file manager so i could rearrange my files so I knew exactly what was on my phone. Well as of yesterday my total space on my device was 16GB and my available space was around 7.2gb. My SD card as i said was about 32 or so and my available space was around 14 to 15GB.
Well I went to try to download a 4 and a half long video in high quality and it all of a sudden said that my memory was full. As far as i knw this video was about 4 gb or so...which should have fit on my device or SD card. Well after finding this unfinished download then deleting it I decided to try to free up some space on my phone to hopefully have more room. Well I googled it and alot of people said an app called SHREDroid was the way to go and that it would completely erase files that I had previously deleted so it wouldnt take up unnecessary space on my phone. Well i used it on my internal and external memory and now my storage looks really funny. My available space on my device is somewhat normal at 7.82 GB. But my SD card is just strange. I havent downloaded anything else and it went from that 14 or 15 GB down to 2.82GB.
How in the world could this have happened. I have nothing new in my external card as far as i know. Can anyone please help me with this?
Sorry for the long post i just wanted to be clear and concise. Please feel free to tell me any details i may have left out
Thanks everyone!
Lots of reports of bad SD cards, so that's a real possibility here.
But what I'd do is backup everything on the SD card to a PC. Then I'd format the SD card (Settings>More>Storage - Scroll to the bottom). Then copy everything back onto the card from the PC and see if that fixes it.
Is your sd card formatted to FAT 32?

I bought sandisk 64 gb sd card. I used it for 1 day it has 2-3 music. After that i downloaded 300 music and put my 6000 photo inside of it. And Some 4 season serie.
Whatever now i use my sd card normal like 15-16 gb. But my battery is draining like hell. I slept for 7 hours, screen was off, wifi was off and %20 of my battery gone. And still decreasing.
I checked the battery stats. Something named " Media" using %71-75 of my battery LOL ??
I was using crash rom. I go back to stock rom, wipe everything and still this media thing draining my battery.
I tought it's happening because of sd card right? And when i listen music or something from sd card phone can cook meat .. overheat...
And this starts when i put something to sd card. If i can't use it with full memory why i buy 64

Actually i did that one time. But didn't work :fingers-crossed:
Now i am downloading neat rom. And found some solution for this media server scan my sd card over and over again. Putting".nomedia" to name of big files. That makes media server pass that files
But still its not a solution. It's not logical to scan all time my sd card god damn it :cyclops:
I solved it
I used roms without full wipe. First stock s4+legend rom+wanam+arrow+omega+crash rom. And used comadose all time. Phone sucked up I made my phone full new with kies. Using legend rom + comadose + greenify +viper +poweramp all the time. Screen opened 8 hours. 4 hours music . 30 min game + whatsapp etc. i used phone for 15 hours with browsing.
And no sd card problem. Media never drinks battery. I didnt hide the files with .noimage.
Thanks for rom devs :highfive:
I suggest legend rom + comadose
Stay calm cya
It may be the same problem in this thread.
