Yea, I just downloaded the rom to my phone, xfrd it to the root of my internal mem. Then using rom manager, boot into recovery, click reinstall packages If ur in the stock recovery, then go to install from sd.card, then you pick the rom you downloaded. Thats how I did it, and worked fine. I went from stock, to obsidian_v5_beta. Team whiskeys rom

FYI T-Mobile Update Will Not Unroot Device

I just wanted to let everyone know that the T-mobile OTA update JI6 will not unroot the Samsung Vibrant. I was running the Stock Rom rooted and I uninstalled OCLF just prior to update.
Good to know, thanks.

Not true in my case. I updated via Odin and it removed root. One Click root worked just fine though.

problems with updating epic to froyo

I've been trying all day to get my epic updated to froyo but during recovery installation I keep gettin a message saying E:error in sdcard/update.zip. I've seen a guy on youtube do it and I'm using the same download and did the same steps. It was successful for him. Any help is appreciated
Have you tried searching the forums here? We have at least 2 threads going on about how to install.

Nope
Download the stock TAR file
Put the TAR file in ODIN under PDA
Plug phone in and it should get recognized
Hit start
Cross fingers

The pda slot is a slot in odin...bottom right quarter of the screen....that's wher u put the file, I don't think you need root but I could be wrong

Ownagemaximus: better read a little more about Odin. You don't need root, only to get into download mode. And a word of advice, don't flash anything in the "phone" part. At least it isn't good for us over in fascinate land.

Need help

Trying to install viper rom on my epic and when I'm in clockwork recovery mode it gives me this error:
E:/ Cant open / cache/ recovery/log
What does this mean? What can i do to resolve this. I keep getting errors when I try to install the rom.
I believe you are in the wrong version of clockwork. For the latest viperRom the cwm needs to be Orange 3.0.0.5
Reroot your phone with one click and try again. It appears your phone has lost root. If that doesn't work their are posts in the viper rom thread that describe a process of going back to stock and working your way to viper rom 4.02b. Another alternative is if you haven't flashed viper rom 4.01 first you might try that.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Dont think that is the problem I cant install any ROM s right now including the stock ROM.
Reflash one click root. It will reinstall clockwork for you and that might fix your issue. If not you might have to use odin to go back to stock. The links for this stuff is in the sticky above.

What v. are you trying to install? Is it ext4? what color is the text (v. #) in cwm?

Yeah you need to instal the dk28 modem first. In the epic sticky their is a version of dk28 froyo that you can flash through odin. Try that and then one click root and then instal viper rom.

U can use root explorer mode R/W?
this rom is pre-rooted, you need only superuser.apk downloaded from market. and root explorer works very good.

yes. I can. But I'm returning back to XXKB3. Here is too much problems yet.
Root does not work initially. For me, it started working only after the Super One Click rooting, although I also got the kernel panic message. But then rebooted and everything went fine.

Accidentally Formatted Nexus 7 (2013) OS... Please help...

Can anyone please help me get my OS back? I was attempting to upgrade from jellybean 4.3 to Kit Kat 4.4 and i knew i needed to wipe but i accidentally wiped the internal. Now when i reboot from recovery it said no OS.
I've unlocked and rooted, i have TWRP on my Nexus 7. I've been researching for answer, tried a few things and ended up confused.
I need guide... I need Step by Step, links to get the files. I'm not sure where to get ADB or SDK or whatever to make my computer pick up my Nexus 7... I need new Kitkat rom, new SuperSU. Please help me!

Flash Stock rom, and if you have the 4.4 OTA, you can sideload and then root..

Been there done that. As the post just above me says download the Nexus Root Toolkit. Follow the directions. Only tricky part can be installing the drivers. Also make sure you are installing JSS15R before you put KitKat on.
If you have a mac you'll have to download the Android SDK download some tools and make a folder with ADB and fastboot in it to flash back to stock. Then you can install TWRP, root and install kitkat.

Dont thank me, I didnt write the program..
Thank the Devs here and Wugfresh for making something so difficult so so so simple..
I just pointed you to the right direction..
As a rule of thumb, its best before you fiddle with an Android device, to be prepared in case of an epic disaster..
Always find out how to flash back to stock before playing around.. Take your time.. and make PLENTY OF BACKUPS!

You pointed me to Wugfresh's tool, when I've tried some other tool but then it come to a confusion for me because they didn't work. But yea... after i fixed my Nexus 7, i found out the tool was just updated and on top of the android development forum.
