[Q] download manager.apk deleted - Vibrant General

Hi, I am new to the android platform and recently rooted my vibrant. I deleted the download manager file and now I cannot download files from the market. I get the (process.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Is there a why to restore the download manager file. I do not have a backup. For some dumb reason I thought that was tied to the samsung media hub that kept running whenever i rebooted my phone.

Ended up using ODIN to reload firmware, I was able to load all my apps back from the market-downloads. Now I will do a backup this time and re-root. Now that I can successfully root back with ODIN, it ROM time.

Download your rom from there and flash it. Do remember all app, settings and root will be lost if you do this. So don't forget to do backups.
how can i flash it.. it's .exe file. not supposed to be zip file?

Click to collapse
If you open the .exe and connect your phone, it will flash itself.
Or you can open it, go to your temp directory and get the .zip from there.
theres no .zip in temp folder.
Updated rooted Wildfire running custom ROM to official HTC OTA update
Hi,
I have managed to update my rooted Wildfire running a custom rom to the official HTC OTA update.
I tried to update my Wildfire by restoring my pre rooted backup. This did nog work. I got error from clockwise. I ran the following steps to succesfull update my phone.
1. Install HTC Sync. For rooting purposes you had to change the Android PC driver. By installing HTC Sync that driver will be restored to the default.
2. Download a shipped rom from the link above.
3. Connect your booted up Android to your pc.
4. Run the shipped rom executable.
5. After the shipped rom is installed you can download Android OTA. By checking for updates.

Can't download
I'm trying to download a stock ROM from the above link but it gets about 7MB into the download then fails. Downloading via chrome or IE it does the same.
Is there another location to get the stock ROM from? That site seems a little naff.

Need Help, can't save files to root dir, can't save rom

So I got this Tablet a few days ago and wanted to get root. It came with the 3.2 update already installed so I read around and saw I needed to downgrade the os, root, flash recovery, then flash a rom via recovery.
I plan to install this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290318
It is basically stock acer 3.2 with root. Which is all I really want.
I followed method 2 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
After booting and installing the unstable version to be able to get root, then I did the adb push for cwm and itsmagic. Wasn't sure what to do after this so I rebooted. (I tried downloading the acer recovery installer but my market would not let me type anything in with all the force closes)
So after reboot I am unable to get adb to show it as a listed device and everytime I try to copy the rom over I need I get an error "Cannot copy *filename* The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected"
In frustration I figured I didn't get cwm installed properly so I downloaded the apk from the web and installed it via dropbox. It let me apply it and actually boot into recovery.
I powered off and tried getting back in but my pc still fails to see the device listed in adb or save files to it via the basic windows file explorer.
I'm currently letting the update install itself (I flashed back the original recovery via acer recovery installer) don't know if this will fix it.
If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
Update:
It upgraded me to 3.1 but I still can't save anything to my tab (atleast the fc's are gone). It doesn't list anything on my tab just shows 0 files. Not sure how to get this fixed.
Update:
I did a factory reset. Now it detects it and I'm able to save the rom to it. I did the root, and flashed cwm thru acer recovery installer. (avoiding adb entirely). However when I'm in there now it says "E:Can’t mount /sdcard". Read some folks are throwing it on a usb drive and flashing it that way.(BTW I put the rom zip on the root file directory, not on the external SD). Will update if it works or not.
*RESOLVED*
Got it working. It installed off the USB thumb drive just fine. Was able to install the 3.2 root Rom mentioned earlier. Everything is working as it should. Able to read and write to and from the device now. Showing superuser in my apps. Now to start removing the crap Acer put on there
This is just in case anyone runs into the same problem. Took a few hrs but its working nice
Basically I suggest this if you wish to just install the the 3.2 stock rom via cwm
1.) Since the unstable flash doesn't clear your data, download and install everything you will need first. ex: Acer Recovery Installer, Iconia Root. Put the rom on the root drive and/or a thumb drive.
2) Flash the downgrade.
3) Run the Iconia Root tool.
4) Run the Acer recovery installer (since you'll have root now) and reboot to recovery
5) Flash the rom. If it doesn't detect it try it on a usb thumb drive. Done
I always put my ROMS on an external microSD. That is the only thing I use my SD card for, and as far as I can tell is always the recommended place to store your ROMS for updating. In the root of the microSD card.
Glad to hear you got it working though.

[Q] Can't move back to stock ROM from Custom.

I have been running a variety of custom roms on my N10, and finally being fed up with everything I want to revert to stock again. I downloaded the stock ROM from developers dot google dot comand have tried every way to sunday to install it but nothing seems to work. Side loading with ADB fails on install, copying the ZIP over and installing through TWRP fails as well as copying the whole extracted .tar over and trying to install the ZIP inside it fails as well. Please help, I really want to go back to simple, easy stock.
You don't flash the stock rom though recovery. Reboot the tablet into fastboot-usb and just run the flashall.bat file that is included in the stock rom download.

Samsung Galaxy Camera (EK-GC110) Debloat or Recover [Stock ROM+ (Odin) Root]

My camera got stuck in a boot loop and i wasn't able to find clear instructions on Stock ROM flashing or debloating apps method for the EK-GC110.
Through trial and error, i was able to find a method which i'll leave here for anyone else who runs into the same issue.
Warning:
I'm not responsible for bricking, boot loops or other malfunctions caused by this method. Proceed with care and at your own risk. A backup is always recommended.
Requirements:
Odin V3.0+
Root File
Stock Rom File
Root File:
http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=26455604418346418921
Stock ROM: Google "Updato firmware" to access free Samsung ROMS. Find the model and respective country file for your device.
Odin: Can be found on XDA forums and Google.
Instructions
Download the required files & Odin.
Install Odin.
Reboot device in download mode.
Use Odin to flash the Stock Rom.
Use Odin to flash the Root file.
For debloating, remove apps which do not impact the camera or general operating functions of the android device. This may take a few trial and error runs. You can delete the main contacts app but don't delete a secondary system app labelled "contacts storage". This will leave your Camera stuck in a boot loop. If you're unsure, consider disabling the app instead of deleting.
I also found the System app remover APK from the google play store to be less buggy and more effective than titanium backup. :good:
