[Q] Restore to original - now updates not working?

Being my first android phone, I had a play around - used Unrevoked to root the device and install several versions on the Wildfire ROMs, but to be honest I am getting fed up having to re-install everything every time there is a bug fix, so thought I would go back to the stick rom. So I decided to restore my original backup which worked fine, only problem now is there is an update to download and install. When I try to install the update it boots into clockwork recovery and so the update does not go ahead. Any ideas on how so solve this problem? Voda unlocked UK device
BTW:- Thanks for the guys who put all the work into the custom roms, this is not a criticism of their work - its just I want to go back to a fully working system. Cheers
Hi, you have to rename the zip file : "update.zip" and put it on your SD card. Then, you choose it in recovery.

The update is downloaded automatically by the OS it's not something I have downloaded manually - Do you know where the system would download the file?
It downloads to sdcard/downloads folder i think.
I think too
Thanks guys, yes the upgrade was downloaded to that folder - it took a few attemtps to apply but worked.
So if I wanted to get rid of the clockovery pieces will I need to apply one of the RUU shipped roms? There is not one listed for voda (english) but would it be safe to apply the latest WWE ?

Download your rom from there and flash it. Do remember all app, settings and root will be lost if you do this. So don't forget to do backups.
how can i flash it.. it's .exe file. not supposed to be zip file?

If you open the .exe and connect your phone, it will flash itself.
Or you can open it, go to your temp directory and get the .zip from there.
theres no .zip in temp folder.
Updated rooted Wildfire running custom ROM to official HTC OTA update
Hi,
I have managed to update my rooted Wildfire running a custom rom to the official HTC OTA update.
I tried to update my Wildfire by restoring my pre rooted backup. This did nog work. I got error from clockwise. I ran the following steps to succesfull update my phone.
1. Install HTC Sync. For rooting purposes you had to change the Android PC driver. By installing HTC Sync that driver will be restored to the default.
2. Download a shipped rom from the link above.
3. Connect your booted up Android to your pc.
4. Run the shipped rom executable.
5. After the shipped rom is installed you can download Android OTA. By checking for updates.

Can't download
I'm trying to download a stock ROM from the above link but it gets about 7MB into the download then fails. Downloading via chrome or IE it does the same.
Is there another location to get the stock ROM from? That site seems a little naff.

I upgraded to Nougat Manually and it half worked :S

So I followed a tutorial online to install Android Nougat 7.0 on my Huawei P9 lite. Once I was in TWRP I realised I was supposed to install two update files from two different .zip files. Trouble is I only had the one update on my phone at the time. I didn't want to exit TWRP at that stage because I already installed one of the update files.
When I booted my phone after the update, it all seemed to be working with 7.0 installed. Then I noticed my internet data wasn't working outside of wifi, and my bluetooth isn't turning on. The rest seems to be running fine other than those two things.
I rely a lot on bluetooth and internet on the go. I need it back, does anyone know what I could do, outside of factory reset?
Thanks
factory reset wouldn't help, you need to reflash update.zip and data_full.zip AT SAME TIME without rebooting

Okay, I realised that just now. Trouble is I am having trouble booting into TWRP now. I just get "your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted." with an orange web link.
For some reason my phone says in the settings that I'm still on android 4.3 although the ui and functionality is 7.0. Also, the EMUI is 2.0. I don't know how I got TWRP working before but I think there's a conflict due to it half being 7.0 so recover won't boot. I have tried loads of tutorials online but none of the rocovery.img or twrp.img files are working.
have the exact same problem, on android 4.3 and stuck.
from what i understand to dload a working stock rom, you need to have the correct oem info that matches the recovery stock rom. i cant flash any OEMinfo as i cant get root from revolution recovery.
no access to Data partition either.
no other recovery's to install as its the only one for nougat.
So i need help for this issue too.

I fixed it! It was more simple than I realised. I used the dload folder method; Placing the update.app into a folder called 'dload' on an sdcard. Then holding power, both volume buttons to initiate the update.
Thanks for your help guys!!

How I got back to stock 4.1 EMUI after update and failing to root (FRD L04)

Hey all! I havent seen anyone posting about this and I know there has been a lot of question about it here on the forum... This is the process I went to in restoring my phone completely back to stock... even reset the bootloader. I kept my unlock code and have successfully reused the same code multiple times on my device. Also Im apologizing now for spelling errors and formatting... Im not putting too much effort into it as im tinkering with phone on the interim.
I Just recently got the Huawei notification to update to EMUI 5. I was rooted on stock firmware and just uninstalled all the bloatware I didnt want making the phone perfect for my needs. I saw that there was a root for Nougat and updated without looking into it much further... I didnt realize it wasnt SuperSU and I havent figured out how to get it succesfully flashed. I got the PHH method working but it was not the Root I was looking for. I couldnt do a number of things.
So now I was stuck. I didnt make any backups because I am dumb and I completely wiped the phone.. formatted the device. (It is usually how i did my samsung phones because i kept all important data on external) I basically bricked the phone to where all I had was fastboot mode and twrp 3.0.2 for honor 8 ( 3.0.3 wasnt working for me, heck no other version period was working).
I went to Huaweis Websiteand downloaded the official rollback package and the official 6.0 package they have on that page.
Using the huawei image extractor I extracted the recovery for both of the images and put them in the respective folders i made for them.
While still in TWRP i did another full wipe of phone, then while plugged into pc , I put the dload folder from rollback package on the internal storage, I rebooted from twrp into fastboot, loaded the recovery.img from the rollback package, rebooted phone, and unplugged from pc.
I then held volume up, down, and power to force the update of the rollback. It did so successfully.
I then repeated the process, flashing the 6.0 recovery and putting that UPDATE. package in the dload folder on INTERNAL STORAGE! ( that part seemed to be key, I kept failing from ext sd card)
and voila! I am back to complete stock.
This is really a guide as a reminder for myself of the process I went through and for anyone else who may be trying to do the same, or is stuck..
Basically if you have unlocked bootloader and you can get into fastboot you are able to use a combo of twrp and stock recoveries that will get you back to stock and even re lock your bootloader erasing all flags

Re-installing Nougat c432b370

HI,
I had **** load of troubles with my phone today, I decided to downgrade to MM because Bluetooth was not working, some files missing according to logcat.
How do I re-install Stock Nougat?
Is there a single file (or two) that I can flash from twrp?
Or should i but files to dload folder at my sdcard and re-install that way?
Thanks in advance!
