Just got a new 32gb card and phone says it has unsupported file system. Any one know a way to get it to work by chance?

Is the card formatted in NTFS? If so try formatting using FAT32.
Hope this helps
Or even FAT without 32 if that possible. And that should fix the problem
I just buy a Kingston 32G class 4 sdcard, my DHD is no problem. Other my sdcard format is Fat32.

I have the same card and it works very well formatted to FAT32. Good Read/Write speeds considering it's a big card.
Cool I'll try this but now have to get a card reader as one I had broke... nice to know other people got the same kingston card working
Good times people

What sd card is it?
I have a class 4 Sandisk of 16g and I only had to format the regular way. The camera records without lag so I didn't need to prepare it in any way. But if it's a slower card you can change the format settings to improve performance.
You can just copy everything from your old card to the new one and everything should be fine.

to format yr new card, put it into the phone, go to settings, sd and phone storage, unmount sd card, format sd card. then copy all the stuff from your old card to the new card and u're done.

Well if it's class 2 it's wise to format it to 32kb for smooth video recording. That is what I meant. It's a setting when ofrmatting it. You should do it on you PC with an adapter.
I was using a scan disk 2 n worked fine but now using a cheap 4gd SD card n the performance is crap

A class 8 card will deliver much better performance than the stock 2gb samsung or a (possibly class 1) cheap card in apps such as music and gallery. It will not make the overall phone performance better
A better memory card would mean better read and write speed. Anything other than that would be the same
And you'll notice a faster speed in transfering files via usb from ur comp to phone.
Go with Class 4-8.
Hey any time I insert my micro sd that has more then about 300mg of stuff on it my TF will keep restarting and not read whats on the disk. It works fine on the computer and I've ran a virus check / reformatted the card and I still can't figure out the problem.. any advice? It's a Class 4 Duracell micro SD.

Yeah pushed the wrong key. And yes apparently they do. I'm wondering if it's the quality of the card?
Also what file system does the TF accept? I've been formatting the card to FAT32 (the one my computer automatically chooses)..?
what class? just for for a test try another micro SD card and see if u have the same issue

Yup just did that, swapped it with the one out of my phone. Formatted both, loaded them up and the duracell works fine in the phone and the the other which has been perfect in my phone for months is doing the same thing to the TF. It seems that if there's too much stuff on the the TF goes holy **** **** too much! and crashes / restarts.
EDIT: it's a class 4
I'm going to try putting movies on instead of music... maybe it's the mp3 files...
Ok so now my TF is barely even recognizing the sd card... it'll say preparing sd card when i insert it but if i click on the file viewer there's nothing in it.. then 30 seconds later the little icon disappears and no more sd card found... **** this is getting annoying.. and im far away from civilization for work..
i was going to downgrade to 3.01 from the leaked 3.1 now i can't even do that.
Quick question. Can I format SD and microSD using the Transformer? I'm guessing this would be the most compatible alternative. I'm not yet rooted.

I can't find an option to do that no.

Sorry but i didnt find a topic about this on NEXUS 7 forum.
A few questions:
1 - Anyone knows if N7 can support all sizes of microSD? (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128..so on)
2 - What the lowest CLASS do i need to play videos without problem?
3 - What the lowest CLASS do i need to play GAMES without problem? (using life02 thread
4 - What about battery consume when using the MicroSD/OTG?
5 - I will post some links and you guys tell me which one should be better or trustble
Option 1 Samsung 32GB Class10
Option 2 Sandisk 32GB Class10
Option 3 Patriot 32GB Class 10
I dont have much money so the first option will always be the best one (Unless some1 tell to forget about)
Thanks You all (Sry bad spelling and gramatic)
The Nexus 7 does NOT have a microSD slot. No expandable memory at all.
EDIT- Oops you mean for OTG? In my experience anything Class 6 or above is fine, Amazon has a class 10 16GB for a good price.
I personally would not use a class 10 for anything other than movies, music, and pictures. They are awful at small random IO.

No, it will not work with ANY SD card.
There is no Micro SD slot.
There is no expandable memory.

I believe the OP knows that, I think they are looking for a microSD to use with a card reader.

Ah, way to make myself look stupid. I wanted to make sure he didn't glance over the posts, since it seemed he only focussed on the speed issue.
And it turns out, I glanced over the OP's post too quickly myself.
Can somebody confirm Nexus 7 can handle a 64GB MicroSD card? Much obliged.

For movies you shouldn't have a problem. Probably okay for games too if it is just the extra asset data. Now getting a game to install on an external SD card is a whole other story, you might need to manually copy it over and create symlinks. Could be a bit of trouble.
When the Nexus was first out I heard there were problems getting apps to see movies on an OTG storage, I think there was a root solution to that, but I am not sure. There might even be a simpler solution since then.
Note: I've not done any of this myself, just basing it on my general knowledge on how Android and Linux works.
Using a cheap OTG cable and a generic SD Card (full size; not micro) Reader, I can play movies just fine. Since full size SD are cheaper per gb than micro, I'm not sure why anyone would want to use micro cards, but whatever floats your boat. My N7 is rooted, but stock. I installed StickMount. All my cards are Class 10 or UHS 1

USB OTG sdcard limitations
Does anyone have any idea the limits of sdcard size and speed on the Nexus 10?

Hi,
When using my 4 GB to copy files from/to my Nexus I'm getting more or less 10-15MB/s, sometimes a bit more. The file size limitations comes with the partitioning, FAT limits it to 4GB file.

Actually I'm wondering if the Nexus 10 will handle a 256gb stick... Right now I'm using only 8gb

Hi,
Oh, sorry but I can't tell you it... As I don't have a 256GB stick. Maybe you can check if a friend has and then testing it . Although, I don't belive there'll be major issues, as long as you keep the FAT32 formatting.

I use an 250Gb usb ssd formated in exFat. It work quite well, it just unmounts itself sometimes.
ExFat permits to have files greater than 4Gb but it's not supported by all ROM. CM11 support it. You can also format your stick in NTFS.
Sticks that big are still pretty costly but worth it for backing up a tablet?
Thanks for the info.

ext4 should work fine for the file system. If you have busybox installed you should also have mkfs.ext2, vfat, minix and mkdosfs --- if you want to put different filesystems on it from the tablet.
