I ride a Kawasaki Ninja, and it's become increasingly difficult to be able to have one ear listening to music lately (using my Vibrant as my MP3 player).
The issue:
While riding at speeds greater than 15-20mph, the button on my wired headset is activated by the wind constantly (both the stock wired headset that came with it, and my new Skull Candy ones). This causes my music to "sputter" the whole time I'm moving. I thought maybe it was just the stock headset, so I went and got a really nice set....and...same problem. Apparently, it has to do with the wind blowing into that mic/button area, and activating the button. Both headests normally work just fine, but that wind is causing an issue when riding...
What I'm looking for:
I'm looking for a way to disable the headset pickup/hangup/play/pause button. At the very least, just the play/pause part of it, but I haven't found any solution yet.
My music randomly pauses for no reason... I think the button is just broken.
I too would like to disable the button.
Bump
Ideas? Anyone? Getting desperate...
Try a diffrent music player, also dig aroung the settings in the app

There's an app called poweramp and it has an option to disable the button (I think) the app can be found in the Vibrant themes n apps thread

Put duct tape over that part of the headset?
Use earphones with no button? Like the ipod ones?
Looking for an actual fix...
Reasoning:
1) Using a headset without a button:
I don't want to have to carry around 2 headsets (one for music, one for phone)2) Using a different app:
I want to be able to use things like Pandora Radio, which only really plays out of one player.3) Duct tape:
I could just as easily pour super-glue into the button cavity...oh, wait...no
So today I needed to use google maps to navigate to an address, so like i used to on my Incredible, I put in the address, selected navigate and everything was good until I came to my first turn, Pandora muted and I heard the voice turn direction, but it was not through my car's speakers. I checked that Navigation wasn't muted then I checked that the media volume was turned all the way up and it was. So what's the deal, is there a setting I'm missing or something, or is the Fascinate's only capability to play music through the headphone jack? I know you can't have a phone conversation with the phone pluged into an aux jack in a car as it keeps the mic on the phone mute, but it won't play nav directions through the head phone jack either?
This is a known issue. It is supposed to be fixed with 2.2. I hope.
There were a couple of devs working on a fix, but nothing that works yet.
I had voice prompts through my car stereo using Google navigation this past weekend while using the stock music player. Didn't try it with Pandora.
I had to turn the phone's media volume way down and crack the navigation audio all the way up, then crack my car stereo as the navigation volume is an order of magnitude softer than the media volume on the Fascinate (which is a known bug that is hopefully going to be fixed).

I had the same issue, then found a fix for it this morning. I posted it here:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/sa...s/85988-navigation-volume-low.html#post957765
As far as being able to hear the navigation through your speakers, it should work. Mine has worked fine since the beginning. I only had an issue with the volume being really low. Perhaps that is what you are seeing. Sometimes the navigation volume would be so low that I would hear the music turn down for the directions, but I didn't hear any directions until I turned up my radio to max.
I reflashed the rom I was using and that seems to have cleared the issue up. Thanks for the sound fix SnrSuave.
On my Evo 4G, voice search starts automatically when I have the phone on silent and there is a big vibration ( such a riding in a car or a big explosion in the game I am playing). A window appears asking which service I would like to use (Vlingo or default) but for the life of me I cant figure out what causes the option to appear. I am want to turned it off. Any suggestions how?
Well apparantly the area on my Evo screen directly above the search button (magnifying glass) can double as me hitting the magnifying glass for 2-seconds which leads to the voice search option. hm...
I was having this problem while hooking my phone up to my car stereo aux output while it was cradled in a window mount. It always tended to do it while listening to uprising by Muse

Anyone get the 3.5mm plug to work on the car dock / desk cradle after flashing DL30?
I thought the requirement was 2.2, but can't seem to get it to work.
It works
on both the car dock app and music app there is a phone icon. Click it. It will change the output from the phone to the dock.

It would be nice to have a toogle widget so that it wouldn't app dependent.

I can't find the icon. Does out only appear when the phone its in the dock? Can you use programs other than Music Player (such as Pandora, Listen, etc.)?
When you place the phone in the dock and the app launches (car dock or desk dock) select the icon. I would imagine once you have done this you can run another app (like pandora) and it should work

Anyone get the app to launch on dock when using Launcher Pro? Before a hit of the home key would launch the app, but now that doesnt seem to work. Anyone?

That's correct. Once you select the icon in the car dock app, just go back to your home by hitting the back button and launch any other app and it should play through the dock. I confirmed with Pandora and SlingPlayer.
You wont see the icon on the car dock or music player unless it is actually docked.
Hope this helps.
I get the steering wheel icon in the notification bar but the app didn't launch. Does it show on the car dock app?
Edit: I was a delta alpha. I located said button in the car stock program. I was confused because the dock didn't automatically pop up like it did in previous versions. I had to start it while in the dock. My only complaint now is that I have to manually switch it every time.

Has anyone else noticed that the sound quality is severely degraded when running through the dock instead of a direct connection to the 3.5mm jack?
I mean I'm talking absolutely terrible audio quality. Am I the only one? Try connecting a decent pair of headphones directly to the phone and then to the dock, the difference will be very, very apparent.
Try turning down your media volume on the phone while in the dock and using an external amp to control the volume. This sort of thing happens when my internal Sirius radio volume is turned up to full and then run into into the car stero.
It worked fine...sound a bit degraded though, but never the less, it works. Now byebye carrying ipod around.

My Dock has a lot of static, even when I have no sound playing. When I remove the power, the static goes away until I plug the power back in. I have tried a USB cable and the same static happens. When I have the same speaker setup plugged into the headphone on the phone, no static. Does anyone else have this issue?
Yea, noticed that too. I thought it was my cable.

I have noticed this even without the dock, mine I believe is a whine related to the charging, as it always stopped if I removed the charger while connected to radio. Only way I found to reduce it was to set the phone volume to about 13 or so, so I wouldn't have to run the car stereo quite as high of a volume.
Picked up the Verizon car dock today and what a joy it is to finally be able to use it for audio. As previously stated, you must use the official Car Cradle app to activate the 3.5mm jack. Since the app is basically crap (Bing, Verizon Navigator), I use Custom Car Doc, which allows you to choose whatever apps you want listed. I put Car Cradle on there and am golden. Just use it to activate the jack, then back out and you can use Custom Car Doc normally.
As for audio quality, it sounds great to me. Many cars add audio interference when the phone is plugged into the cig lighter. Amazon carries several cures for this. I installed a Pyramid NS12 12 Amp InLine Noise Suppressor, which was $6 including shipping, and it did the trick on my Mazdaspeed3.
I got the cardock to work, but not the desk cradle. I think in the superclean it was removed. It has the ASOP desk , there is no speaker button.
I use Alarm Clock Plus for my home dock and it has the speaker button.
I didn't like the stock car dock app, so I was using Custom Car Home for a while. That didn't have the speaker button. Then I tried Google Car Home. I could activate the speaker by going into the stock Music app, bit not from the Google Car Home app itself.
I guess ill have to buckle down and try the stock Samsung app. They suck.

After using DL30 for a few days, I have to say, the car cradle and desktop cradle both gives soo much static....
At least the car is more barable, but the desk was not barable.
I posted a request in the Apps section for someone to 'de-bing' the stock Froyo app, no result yet. What I did find, however, is that you can activate the dock audio from *any* of the apps that support it. So, you can activate it directly from the music app if you want to use the Google car dock, or you can activate it from the Stock Car dock if you choose to swap out to the AOSP music player. Just don't pull move like me and replace BOTH with AOSP apps and then kick yourself when you have to restore lol.
Hey guys!
So I got an update for the Moto Voice app recently on my PE running 5.0. Moto voice used to change ringer volume to work but would leave it at around 75% volume afterwards. I always have my Moto X on vibrate so this was really annoying...
But now after this update it doesn't do that anymore. It sets it back to vibrate once it completes whatever command I issued. Finally! I don't know if this issue has also been fixed in Assist (drive), haven't had a chance to test it out yet.
Just thought I would let you guys know!
Edit: It seems to be faster at processing the commands too! It doesn't take as long to pass the command onto google.
Noticed the quickness had been updated. Not sure about drive is fixed either. But I can vouch it is way quicker processing commands..
Took them long enough. I'd like to give them thumbs up for fixing it but it should have been done last year.
Now, how about they fix attentive display???
I have noticed that the moto voice notifications are a bit louder than before. Still not on equal footing with other apps like Play Music.
When in driving mode, connected to my car's BT radio, to keep the moto voice alerts balanced with play music, I can now turn play music to 75% volume vs 50% volume. The moto voice is turned to 100%. It's an improvement. I would still like to see the moto voice alerts on equal volume level as all other apps though.
It's faster passing commands to Google search for sure.
Unfortunately It now changes your interruption setting (if set to NONE) to ALL. Don't these clowns test this stuff before shipping?!?

how do you change moto voice alerts volume? I cant hear a thing on my car. It stops the music but the voice is really really low. In contrast, google maps directions work just fine.

When it activates with the volume up button. You have to be quick or have it read notifications so it stays on a bit longer.

Oh ok, I checked it is on full volume. It is really strange, if im using my earphones and playing music, I can hear google voice perfectly, but while using an audio cable connected to my car, I cant hear it at all. Any suggestions? Could it be that my cable is faulty? I can hear everything else just fine....
I've never seen that. I use Google Play music, BeyondPod & NPR One in the car. I keep those programs adjusted to 50-75% volume when using my car bluetooth.
However, at work I drive a Ford Escape. Using Microsoft Sync in that car, I find that the volume of Moto voice & my music / podcast apps to be almost on equal footing since the Google services update.
I know that whatever version Sync the car has, it is probably what came stock with the car. The car is probably 5 years old. It seems I get my best in car connectivity with the Escape Sync.
Could be a driver issue with the device or how the phone connects.
I would like it if I could get an aftermarket head with Sync, but it seems only Ford uses this.
If you find this helpful, just give me a thumbs up.

I always have the music (play music) at a 100 on my car. Maybe thats the fault. btw I connect through audio cable, not bluetooth. I will try lowering the music volume and also with another cable just to be sure.
Thanks.
