Hey guys I just updated my media hub on the market JUST NOW, could this be FROYO related or am I just way 2 excited???
Erm.... dk28s media hub prompts for a non existant update...

I just launched the Media Hub and it sent me to the market. The update was there!!! Installed and works like a charm.
I'm on di18 stock

Doesn't matter. Im running Dk28 and it showed up. Media hub for Froyo users is fixed!

I'm runing non rooted dk28 leak. Leads me to believe that with all the talk of Sprint telling people not to install the leak, and a media hub update just making it to the market, the real ota might just be around the corner

I with you two. I did the non-rooted DK28 (which works just fine GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth and PRL and Profile updates.) Just got redirected to the market to install the Media Hub update. Pretty excited for Froyo if it's anything like the DK28 it should be pretty decent.

Yeah I came back from dk28 and it was amazingly fast so with a few more bug fixes its gonna b blazing fast when it officially comes out. Im no longer mad we waited so long because at least we are getting a good bugless update
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Very true. And from past experience even with the dk28 update we should still get the ota because we are not rooted at least that's how it was with my old samsung moment don't quote me on that though lol

Why would anyone care whether they could get the release OTA froyo update? When it comes out the rom cookers around here will already have something in the wind better. Enjoy a custom rooted phone now and always be smiling bigger than the other guy.

So has anyone that's on stock EA28 tried to check for an OTA update to see of the rumor of the aforementioned 2.2.1 OTA is actually being pushed today like various sources said it is supposed to be?

many of us are curious as to when/if the ota will drop...despite being on eb01 already.
basically the sooner the ota starts, the (hopefully) sooner the froyo source is released from samsung.

I will confirm for you in a few hours, but I can pretty much guarantee that its a negative, and the people who leaked it are full of merd.
I'm running stock and haven't received any notifications that there is an OTA update.

Considering that EB01 still has a number of problems (like the new GPS issues), I'd imagine they'd hold off on releasing until there's nothing too major.
Plus, they haven't announced that they're going to do anything, so it seems highly doubtful it's coming out today.
Totally agree.. Besides if they can not get bing up in our face what's the point of even updating us .. Ever

That hasn't stopped them from pushing out updates with a multitude of issues before. lol Just release the source. Who cares if it's buggy? Our wonderful developers will fix it and then Verizon can use that to push out to everyone.

Unfortunately the majority of Fascinate owners will never be able to reap the rewards of all the hard work that our developers put into making Samsung's Fascinate an actually great phone.
I am surprised that the Epic 4G got theirs as scheduled. We may not get it today but we will soon enough!
I hate to have to ask this question, but I've read 6 or 7 threads in the last hour and can't find a straight answer. I'm in S. FL. Will Froyo be updated on our phones automatically?
I understand I can update manually, but I don't have time for that, which is part of the reason I left WinMo.

If you are on stock Android 2.1 (Eclair), you will get the update over the air within the next 3 days.
If you are not stock Android 2.1 (Eclair), you won't.
Yes. If you are not rooted and stock rom, you'll get a notice on your phone over the next few days when it's your area's turn. If you are rooted, you should still get it if you are on stock rom and all the bloatware is still there.

The first update we received a few months back took a week to get to my phone, and it kept popping up at rather inconvenient times when it finally showed. The visual voice mail update took 4 weeks to get to my phone. I'm in Central FL
I did the simple update method, which I posted about here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964260. I had my update installed before most OTAs, and I did it on my time. You could do it on your lunch break without issue.
you know it just takes 10 minutes right.
do it while you're taking a dump or something

The update has been temporarily suspended, its been causing a lot of trouble with peoples phones. If you really want it, you're going to have to use the update.zip.
Ok, at this rate I will never get an update pushed to my phone. I wonder if its safe for me to just update manually.

Just realize that the Samsung tool wipes everything on your phone, and if you are on stock 2.1 I don't think there is any good way to back up everything. (no clockwork backup and titanium wont work w/o root)
My backup pro works just fine. it will save data and apps with data.

So is that it, Samsung not going to release the fixed Froyo!? After waiting eternity, Samsung released a long over due Froyo just to shutup pissed customers, only for the release to be buggie and them take it down shortly after and totally forget about us again! I think this will be the last Samsung phone I ever buy!
Samsung = company that only cares about future products...not supporting current/old ones.

No you should not have to wipe data
I think it sucks. The biggest thing in Gingerbread is sip calling which has been taken out. All they did was add pretty animations. HUGE disappointment

Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
OK, so I just installed it and it worked like a charm! It runs beautifully and it is quite a bit more responsive in my opinion. I'm going to begin testing everything I can. Running the hell out of it lol.
EDIT: OK, so far I have only one complaint. The hard buttons at the bottom of the phone are now insanely bright. It isn't a serious problem, but it is definitely a significant difference that I would like to see options for.
The buttons have been overly bright on all of the Gingerbread leaks, and unfortunately they still don't work quite right, even on the OTA version. They turn off and never come back on. That's my only complaint about Gingerbread. Other than that, it's fast, smooth, and looks great. I looked at an Xperia Play today with more or less stock Gingerbread, and I have to say, it was kind of ugly compared to Gingerblur, in my opinion.
Gingerbread
So far it hasn't been too bad, but I am waiting on a ROM based off of .596.
Anyone have a link to this that is not downloading at like 10KBps or have the direct google server address? If I can ever get this stupid thing to finish downloading I am thinking of mirroring it on something that doesn't the stupid ad-bloated crap. Just going to throw it up on a directory on my web server.
OK finally got it downloaded will install it and see how it runs a bit before uploading the image.
I updated my droid x to the stock version of gingerbread last night. With the exception of a few totally unrelated incidents, it seems to be working great. Gingerbread seems to be snappy and the new ui tweaks are mostly welcome. I have not noticed a big difference between 595 & 596. Thanks to black hat team for their hard work.
They got rid of the 'Paste from Clipboard' option ...I used tthat a lot in Froyo. Does anyone know.a way to get that available?

I know this isn't directly related to the epic but thought I would share it. My friend at school has Motorola Droid, the original one, with Netflix and streaming works. I asked him how he got it cause he's not rooted and he said its on the market. Its not on mine though :-( what up with that?

I think I remember reading it has something to do with the optimization of the hummingbird processors. Something is fixed in Gingerbread which is why it can stream on EF02 but not on EC05. Simple solution if you want netflix is to flash one of the EF02 roms like i3. I prefer the speed and battery of Frozen 1.2 though. Can't wait till we get our official GB update. I am excited to see what ACS can do with that source code.
+1 to Imann. It has to do with our processors and 2.2. It works perfectly on 2.3 for our Epics though.
I'm on the ef02 leak anyway so it doesn't really matter to me, I just thought that it wouldn't work on froyo period. Thanks for the info guys.

Got my false hopes up. :-( This is the #1 thing I want official GB for.
I apologize if this has been asked before but i just put gingerbread EF02 on my epic 2.3.3 thanks to qbkings youtbe video. Is their a way to get say the nexus s stock gingerbread on this phone or another way to get the sprint crap off my epic?

EI22 is the official GB release for the Epic. Read up and work your way into a stock rom based on EI22.
Is your phone rooted?

No sir my phone is not rooted. qbking video showed how to usea program called odin to put gingerbread on without rooting. it works well i just hate having sprint junk on my phone. people say rooting does wondersi just have no clue how to. qbking showed a very easy 5minute video on how to put gingerbread on and it worked.
OK so i took the plunge into rooting my phone. Thanks to Qbkings video I was able to put on the Legendary ROM in about 10minutes. Rooting was actually very easy. The ROM is amazing and removed all the crap off my phone and made it super fast. Now i flashed to 3.2 from 3.1 and 3.2 to 3.3 without rebooting and everything is fine but i read that you should reboot after doing each one. Does anyone know if this will be an issue? thanks
