[Q] touchflo style picture widget - Epic 4G General

I would like to start off by saying that coming from winmo with the touch pro 2, i really hate how flooded the market is with crap. im so glad my disdain for apple kept me away from the iphone.
with that being said, the thing I loved the most about touchflo was the picture tab. it made taking good pictures rewarding because they were always on display essentially right on the homescreen. furthermore, the way you could scroll through all showcasing the great pics you've taken was great. it also only showed the pictures taken with the camera.
unfortunately the gallery app that comes with the phone is lame in comparison, and the widget only shows one picture. all of the market's Apps have been pretty bad...
does anyone know of any Apps that are similar to touchflo's picture tab?

if not, can this be moved to the app section so that someone who would be interested in creating one can see it?
thanks in advance for any input

nothing at all

I have no idea how touchflo works but have you tried this app below? I had it on my evo and it floats the images across the screen very nicely, people are very impressed when they see it.

iPhone-like "picture" app?

So my AT&T 8525 died around Christmas. I wanted to get a Touch Cruise, but the overseas inflated prices are KILLING me. So for the time being, I've gotten a Blackjack II and I'm waiting for the next big thing.
Yesterday, I went to an Apple store and played with an iPhone for about 15 minutes. The coolest things about it, IMHO...
1) The picture functionality - While turning the phone and watching the pic switch too is nice, and sliding between pics is excellent, what I REALLY like is spreading your fingers to zoom! That's amazing!!! Do any Win programs have that functionality?!?!?!?
2) The weather - Having the city, then the extended forcast is nice. But what I didn't realize before is you can add multiple cities and scroll between them with your figure... just like you can flip screen on a Touch! That was just sweet!
3) Google maps on my Blackjack II is nice, but Google Maps on a touchscreen phone just rules. And it feels so smooth on the iPhone, it's like it was MADE for it. Damn...
And I assume the video is smoother on the iPhone, especially watching YouTube videos... but I must admit I didn't try that.
If anyone knows of an app that lets you look at pictures like an iPhone... I'd LOVE to upgrade my old Sprint 6700 to WM6 and then use that phone to play with images until my figure falls off.

This is a multitouch screen thing, and no I don't believe there are any WM devices out with multitouch.

Uh...the version on the iPhone was made for it. There's a version for WM too that works just the same.
try the s2v program... (slide to view)... almost like the iphone picture app... this program is nice and its free... thanx to A_C for developing another great app... kudos....
there are tons upon tons of new photo viewing apps for WM, ever since the iPhone's release.
1)
S2V (Slide2View)
HTC Camera Album
PocketCM ImageViewer
PictureFlow
PocketCM "Even Nicer Flow Stuff" (no actual name, since it's a test)
2)tons upon tons of applications for weather, and many are skinnable. so although you probably can't get the slide, you can get some really great looking skins for apps like WeatherPanel. There's PhatPhinger, iPhone themes (looks like the iPhone's. no sliding, though), etc etc
3)Google Maps? Really? It's been out for ages for Palm and Windows Mobile. Shockingly to many, even before the iPhone came out.
http://www.google.com/gmm/index.html
There's even a maps application from Microsoft, Live Search, that is actually more fully featured than Google Maps, whether it's on WM or the iPhone. Just ignore that it's from Microsoft, it's actually a great app.

Any links to this app? Did a search here, as well as on Yahoo, but no dice.
i think i know why. it's because you're using yahoo instead of google
only kidding, to each his own. however, with google,
"slide to view" yields the correct result 6th
"slide2view" yields the correct result for the entire first page
and "s2v", yields 4th, 7th, & 8th
i'll give the benefit of the doubt, though, because "slide to view" doesn't show up anywhere when searching with yahoo or the Xda Search. you need that "2" in there, lol.

I really like the .3 version of PocketCM ImageViewer (latest version doesn't run on my device).

That's just a task manager. There's a skinable one for WM whose name I can't remember right now, but it's been discussed on this forum recently. Since it's skinable, you can make it look however you wish.
but
I look at mobile reviw thats part of new sense for android
The new version of HTC Sense features several nice touches - a more detailed screen with contact's personal information and his activities, plus the new Sense's main attraction, new screen transition system.
I don't know how it's implemented on Windows Mobile phones yet, but on Android it works like this. What you are at the home screen, pressing the Home button calls the Screen menu allowing you to pick the one you need, which is pretty convenient, but there is one flaw to it. The phones that were featured at HTC's MWC booth made that window pop-up only when we pressed the button while staring at the Home screen. If we happened to be looking at Music, Weather or any other section of the phone, punching the Home key got us back to the Home Screen and that was it. I feel like this feature must work in any place around the UI, and I hope that it will.

Android home screens are customizable and can only be switched one by one which is why the helicopter view might be more important. You can fly with the slider bar on WM Sense so it makes it less useful - plus it'll be difficult to get all our tabs in that Expose-esque view

Actually that's not a task manager, thats the new pinch to zoom homescreen that zooms out to let you select the home screen. It's called leap, see demonstration here

But that's such a massive downgrade.
Lose 0.6" off your screen size, lose WinMo6.5.3 (which is better than Android imo), and lose your NA 3G coverage (assuming you're rocking a T9193).
I will say that at least HTC finally smartened up and started putting flashes in their phones. My buddy has an HTC Hero and the only complaint he has about it is no flash.
To be honest, I ordered one and will sell my HD2. I lose 0.6" screen size and one camera LED, but I gain Android.
Since I'm in Europe, I don't lose 3G.
I've used Android on an old Samsung phone for some time, and I discovered that I simply enjoy using it.
Despite that this phone is awfully slow and has a very small 3.2" screen, I find the experience to be much better than the one I have with my HD2.
Thus, I'm getting a Desire.
(I'd buy a Samsung Galaxy S with 4" screen, but I want at least one LED for the camera: http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/samsung-announces-galaxy-s-android-smartphone/)

Same thing.
Taskfacade has nothing to do with that... except that it looks similar, but totally different functionality.

did anyone else miss this??

Had my aria for a month now and never recognized this...
On your homescreen click to add a widget to it. Now look at the top of the list..
You can download additional HTC widgets not listed. There's a battery widget that shows percentage and, takes you to battery info when you click on it. Along with a dozen other widgets. Apparently its a list that gets updated at HTC's choosing.
Clicking menu gives refresh list and setting options
Damn I love HTC
Yeah, I discovered this a while ago.
Still a nice surprise--I was particularly delighted to find a Profile widget, which I felt was one of the things that was missing from the phone. Sure beats long pressing the power key to switch profiles.
Just as a note, this only works with the Sense UI. Or, at the very least, the option is not there with Launcher Pro.
Noticed it first day and had battery widget but it lacks the functionality of the battery widget by geekyouup free in the market.
Nice that HTC is thinking of its users though!

Thanks! I had not noticed it.
Awesome find I never noticed that now I know 4 people with the aria and all of us are missing the outer camera lens that keeps stuff out of the camera hole, has anyone noticed this? The att store demo phone is missing it as well

The notepad/post-it widget is really good. I definitely suggest it. I use it everyday for quick notes and as a To Do list. Best of all it sets on your screen and gives you 10 pages you can flip through.
Thanks, I'd missed that, good call.
I like how the notes app will let you draw on the screen, nice touch.

Something annoying about HTC Sense..

So i've been watching videos of both stock android (Nexus one, G2) and videos of the Desire HD rom with Sense on other devices. Something that's become quite apparent in the sense rom is that HTC decided to strip a lot of the nice animations that make stock android pleasing to the eye.
Examples include, when you open and app you get a zoom in effect, and when u close it u get a zoom out. Also when the keyboard pops up it sort of slides from the bottom. Another is when you open the app tray, the icons fly in.
But on sense there's no animations. Everything just appears instantly. That really is sort of putting me off Sense, and that's a big disappointment considering i like the look of HTC's widgets.
Has anybody else noticed this? What do you think of it?
Agree to disagree...
...
Must say, you are right, but aren't the guys from Cyanogen Mod going to do something about that?!
CyanogenModders only work with stock Android, so whatever magic dust they decide to sprinkle on the DHD, it will not have Sense in the mix
Next week is looming large... Im gonna take a day off work to show my new baby some love when it arrives)))
I had a nexus and the zoom's are really nothing to write home about

Im sorry to say but you are wrong. If you go to the display settings and under animations set it to 'All' you will get keyboard sliding animations, screen transition animations, the only thing you dont get is a 3D effect with the app draw, but it does slid nicely into view from the bottom and is just more professional. However as mentioned previously its android, customise! Add all the animations you want!!

could u tell me what all the options are? thanks
The Desire HD Sense has a fade in/out effect by default for both Sense tabs and applications unlike older Sense versions ... its actually very pleasing and runs smoothly on HD2 so definitely will be awesome on the actual HD
Animations are nice eyecandy, but everytime they play you have to wait till they are finished. After some time they'll only anoy me. I am happy with as few animations as possible, so I turned them off. Just my humble opinion.

[Q] [NAND] Pixelated graphics and widgets in all NAND roms. (Banding)

Hello xda,
Im currently using the rom on my signature which runs close to perfect. But I want to know why and how can I fix the ugly pixelated graphics and widgets in the rom. Is not a specific rom issue since all NAND roms i've tried have that problem. Back in SD this issue was fixed and graphics looked perfect. How can I achieve that sharp and nice look?
Thank you all, this community is amazing.

do you have a screenshot at all to show us? Maybe a photo of the screen from another camera if that is easier?
Here's a screenshot with music and calendar widget.
Notice the ugly pixels and blocky look.
Edit. Actually don't know why drocap won't show it. But all of you who have nand open those widgets and you'll see what i mean
sorry dude... it looks normal... and looks totally fine on mine, I have a Telstra HD2 (512ROM) tried the CM and Desire and MIUI based ones, they all work great on mine, no odd looking pixels

Maybe that issue caused by image compression ... I think.
The rendering of widgets can be affected heavily by the launcher. I've heard suggestion that Launcher Pro will get rid of that problem. Worth a try since you just uninstall it if it doesn't fix it.
If it is down to the launcher, there's not going to be any fix for you, other than hope that there's an update to the launcher you use, that addresses the issue.
Thank you all for your answers. Will try another launcher and see.
I installed launcher pro (free) and tried it in the beginning with MDJ 2.6 G-bread nand version... I noticed pixelated widgets but kind of did not care. I also installed bunch of things after 1st boot and started using the phone. Among other apps it was ADWlauncher EX which I paid... I rebooted after that once for different reason and once it booted up again I literally noticed huge bump in how smooth and fluid motion was with this launcher - pixelation was also gone and I do not know whether it was launcher that made it that way - but I definitely love it
I know what he is talking about. I try to avoid widgets with that ugly looking thing. Which is why I'm currently using transparent widgets.
These screenshots have been taken with this app called "shoot me" As you can seen, they look perfectly fine
But, now look at these pictures taken with my digital camera

Looking at the pics you posted I believe this is the banding problem alot have referred too caused by the 65k limitation on the screen.. Yes it is capable of 262k but the devs haven't figured out how to unlock it yet.. Winmo say it's a software limitation.. Hope this is a lil explanation.. The reason your screen shot doesn't show it, is cause android itself isn't limited to 65k colors only the screen is (currently)..

I'm facing this problem too, and I'm still keeping the power control widget even though the pixelated one looks very ugly..
