latest pit file? - Epic 4G General

wondering what's the most appropriate pit file?
the reason I ask, is because when I use the pit file that comes with odin, I can flash both DI18 and DK28, but when I go to root dk28, I get out of space errors when it tries to push clockwork recovery to /system. I assume the majority of people aren't getting this error and therefore have a different partition setup.
so I ask, what pit should my phone be setup with?

About using Odin and Flashing New EB13

I am wanting to flash EB13 back and make everything stock.
Question is I have the EB13.tar.md5 files, and I will use Odin with that in the PDA section.
What PIT file do I use with that or does it not matter. I have the one that came with Odin as well as s1_odin_20100512.pit
I just dont know what the pit file does and if it needs to be paired with other files correctly.
Thx,
Force
When flashing a full tar file pit is not needed. Just pit the tar in PDA and make sure reboot is the only thing checked on the left side and hit Start. Should take like 3-5 mins total

Bricked my sgs4?

Hi, Tried to install root through odin for the first time but the install didn't complete.
Now my sgs won't boot anymore.
It gives, the firmware upgrade error.
I can boot into download mode.
When i try to flash the original firmware for the i9505 it gives an error (something about a pit file missing)...
What can i do to get my sgs4 working again?

seems partitions are corrupt so try getting the 16GB pit file and set it in odin with the repartition option enabled..... and try flashing the new firmware
Under normal circumstances, DO NOT tick "re-partition" during Odin flash of firmware.
Only tick "re-partition" if you have the PIT file as described in previous post
Ensure any firmware (double check !) is that for your specific model.

There's a .pit file in the DOWNLOADER folder at this link: moulnisky DOT com/index.php?dir=Samsung/Firmwares/GT-I9505/
I haven't tested it so don't know if it works, but there you go.
P.S. I had the same issue and restored my phone using Kies firmware recovery mode: samsung DOT com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00048586&fm_seq=52928

[Q] i9506 4.4.2 Problem

So I flashed 4.4.2 that had been released yesterday with Odin and I got "FAIL! (Size)" when it tries to flash hidden.img. I first thought my phone got bricked as it was only able to get on the download mode and couldn't get to recovery mode and when I tried to flash it again it did the same error. After reading about this problem fro the internet someone said to ignore that error message and go back to download mode after flashing the rom and flash a custom recovery. I did so, went to the recovery mode, wiped data and cache and I was able to boot normally. When my phone booted up I started to have an error message that bothers me the most; "Unfortunately, Samsung keyboard has stopped working". This happens every five seconds or so. Is there any fix for this, as I'd like having Samsung's keyboard working on my phone?
You can't just ignore Odin warnings.
Almost all Odin error can be resolved by the following.
- Different usb cable
- Different usb port
- Different pc
- Reinstalling drivers.

Most likely you are flashing different size partitions. Is it stock?
If so, please download pit file for your model, flash with pit file and repartition marked, do not reboot phone, go to recovery, wipe phone and reflash again, this time without pit file and without repartition marked. Shall do the job.
Final tip: NEVER ignore Odin errors messages.

Does it have to be 4.4.2 pit file as all I found was a pit file for 4.3? Does it harm my device in any way if I try to flash with that?

should not, I used 4.3 pit to flash 4.4.2.

[Q] Re-partition System

Hi Guys
After trying out ART I realized that my System Partition went up from 5.5gb (Approx) to 7.2gb(Approx). At the time, I thought that as soon as I returned to Dalvik the System Partition would restore itself to normal but it has not.
I have done a lot of research but have not been able to work out how I can get my 1.5gb back now that i have returned to Dalvik full time.
I was wondering if there is a way to restore the system partition back to its stock size via re-partitioning or some other method. Is this what the Re-partition check box is for in Odin? If so, does this mean I need to flash a fresh stock rom and go from there?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Ed
Try re-flashing the stock firmware for your device via Odin with the PIT file.
You can obtain a PIT file from another device in its original state.

Thanks mate.
Will give it a try tonight.
Never use a pit file unless a firmware requires it.
The safest way is to use kies and do software restore from settings. It will flash the latest file for your S/N.
Just remember to add the pit file before you check the repartition box in Odin lol
I've heard of a few people being told to repartition, so they've just ticked the repartition box, but not added a pit file. If you do that, your phone is hard bricked, and only a JTAG box will fix it..
But it's a safe procedure if you do it properly, I've done it many times.

I have read read read cant find a specific solution ..Ok im on KOT49H I337ucufmld. I was on 4.3 before I have flashed with odin many times at first I got a fail at the start aboot.mbn nand fail ..so I removed that file and it started to install but failed at the end... my knox is set to 01 . my boot loader of course was locked down when I tried to flash another recovery.. so I read and people suggested pit files along with tar so I did that. no firmware Samsung official or otherwise will try to install at all with the aboot.mbn intact within the tar . ive flashed and flashed ..everything... so then I got a 32 gb pit file and did a nand erase in odin...and I noticed that by doing that I have my stock recovery back . I then re flashed the proper 16gb pit file and it remained working..so now I have download mode and stock recovery both working but have NO SYSTEM at all installed and cant seem to install one....I need good solid advise..is it a paper weight or is ther a way to zip or tar back either by odin or stock recovery.. help please.

Are you sure you're on the mdl bootloader? What do you mean when you say you're on 4.3? That's not consistent with mdl bootloader. My guess is you're not on the mdl bootloader and that flashing the mdl tar in Odin won't work for you. In a terminal emulator on your phone type
su
getprop ro.bootloader
They'll tell you what bootloader you're on.
If you're not on the mdl bootloader flash the nb1 tar in Odin.
