Update List Of X10 Questions

Updated list of questions for my X10a.
Dont have to answer all!
Listed from most important to least
1) Proximity sensor doesnt work. It works when I test it via the SE Secret Menu however, it doesnt work while im calling. Im using the ADW dialpad and custom skinned Phone.apk and Phonebook.apk
2) Can you alt-tab? Like when I am running apps/games and I want to open another app to do something or make a call etc and then come back. I know the home button kinda works this way but it sometimes doesnt. Would be nice if I could minimize to the status bar or something.
3) Whats with the display draining so much battery. Its always the major battery drainer. My brightness is like 30% on the bar.
4) Can you change the icons? (drawer and desktop)
5) Can you make the ADW launcher drawer slide out? Not setting the "Slide Up Gesture" to "Open Drawer" but a draggable drawer.
6) How to disable the auto screen dimming when battery is 10%. IDK if thats an app I have or what. But I dont want the screen to dim.
Any Applications that can do these
-Disable slide to unlock. I just want to activate the screen with a press of a button (Best if its power button only). I tried NoLock but it activates the lock screen at random times of phone usage.
-On the fly orientation on/off. Dont want to go back to desktop
I will add/remove questions as I find questions/solutions.
Thanks!

Turn it on in your "accessibility" settings. I think that's where it is. Should be a setting for "auto rotate".
Or check the notification area for the rectangle with two semicircular arrows
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
just swipe down from the top to see your notifications. There is a toggle right there to unlock rotation.
I tried everything but still not responding !!!
Shall I return it or try to fix it ?

Try opening an app and see if it rotates in that.
Thing is, even when you unlock rotation, the home screens won't rotate - made me think it was faulty too when I first got mine. You need a third party launcher if you want home screens to rotate to landscape.
If even in apps it won't rotate, then maybe it's faulty.

Swipe down your notification bar, to the right of the date is a lock with two arrows circling it. Press that and the lock will change shape.
Now all apps that support it will change orientation, the home screen does NOT support this. To rotate the home screen you will need to download a new launcher from the play store.
Test that rotation is working with a stock app like YouTube, not all third party apps are coded to rotate.

I opened all apps and still not responding !!
I did rest factory ,.. nothing change
I recommend Apex or Nova for a launcher. I am partial to Nova right now but both of them are top notch. Everything rotates beautifully now. Make sure to do what they said and also don't forget to check in the launcher settings as there is an option there too.
Cheers!
Thanks for responds !!
But it still not working , I'm going to return it back

[Q] CM10 Alpha, screen won't rotate

I searched for CM10 screen rotate, and all I saw were a bunch of threads saying it was enabled. Which makes me wonder...
I'm on CM10, have been for a day or so. REALLY great rom, esp for an Alpha release. But my screen doesn't rotate. I've tried checking and unchecking Settings>Display>Rotation to no effect.
Apps that require landscape will do so, but I can't get it to do it on demand. I feel certain I'm missing something, but don't know what it might be.
Any suggestions?
If you are using a launcher such as Nova or Apex, there are auto-rotate settings that must be turned on.

There is a setting under Accessibility that toggles rotation. Make sure 'Auto-rotate screen' is checked.

That one wasn't. I knew it was something simple.
What's really bad about all this is that it's the same launcher I use on my phone.
Thanks!
Fixed??

Did yours get fixed? Mine doesn't respond to the changes. Maybe I should reflash.

Yes, mine works now. If I turn the Nook, the orientation rotates as it's supposed to. A reflash may help I suppose, but check ALL your settings first (don't be like me!)
Settings>Display>Auto-rotate screen should be checked.
Settings>Accesibility>Auto-rotate screen should be checked.
And then look through the settings on your launcher to see if there's something in there holding things up. In Nova Launcher it's found in
Nova Settings>Look and Feel>Screen Orientation.
I'm pretty sure Apex has a similar setting, but I don't know where to find it. I had to check all 3 in order for the orientation to change as I turn my Nook.

Yes, changing in all locations did the trick. Thanks.

KnockON

Anyone else having problems with KnockON not working? I have it enabled but tapping on the phone isn't turning phone off.
Using the stock launcher?
No issues here. I'm using Nova. Not sure that launcher matters though...

Do you have nova setting an administrator account? Nobody else has been able to get knock off in nova to work without either hitting the status bar or setting an administrator account which overrides the fingerprint sensor.
To turn the screen off using the KnockOn feature, I double tap the status bar. (using Nova launcher)

I knock the status bar. I thought that's how it works. But I never even tried the stock launch so maybe it works everywhere.

Ok thats why I asked if he's using the stock launcher. In that one you can knock anywhere.
Go to Settings > Display and scroll down to make sure the Knock On feature toggle is turned on.
Good luck!

Thanks but I have that turned on and I'm using Nova Launcher.
I use Nova Launcher as well and have had no problems with either knocking on or off. You probably already know this, but just in case....
There is also a setting in Nova Launcher that assigns what Nova does when you double tap. It's in Nova Settings > Gestures & Inputs. Mine is set to "screen lock" when I double tap. Good luck!

Wallpaper Motion Effect Option Gone

It seems for some reason I don't get the motion effect option toggle anymore when I set up a static wallpaper.
When I first set up the phone, the option was there. Then after a few hours I tried another wallpaper and now the option is permanently gone. No restarts, clearing theme cache or resetting settings manage to bring back the option toggle. Not even using the same picture.
Anybody else experiencing this?

Go to Settings, Apps then Default apps and then make sure that for Homescreen, the circle for TouchWiz home is filled in.
Made an account just to say thanks!!
This worked perfectly, thank you so much for this! It was driving me crazy haha

It works,cheers buddy ?
You're a friggin genius!!! Thank you. That was bugging me to no end.
Thanks, I was wondering where the option had gone! It must have been cleared when I tried the Pixel launcher.
I had the same issue today, where I couldn't understand why the motion effect was gone. Then I remembered it had something to do when I installed Nova Launcher. I tried the launcher but I didn't quite like it so I deleted it. I went to settings and checked if touchwiz was checked on and it was not. Always Make sure touchwiz is your default home screen. Simple little thing that can really make you go nuts. It's working great now.

Motion Effect Issue
Hi everyone,
I called Samsung technical support and they told me within 2 mins now to fix the Wallpaper Motion Effect Issue.
These are the steps to follow..
1- Settings
2- Apps
3- The top right hand corner has a tab with 3 dots, hit that and go to "Default Apps.
4- Go to "Home Screen
5- Final step is, after going to "Home Screen" make sure "Touchwiz Home" is selected. If it's not Select it and that will fix the "motion effect" issue.
??
Hope that helps.
