It seems for some reason I don't get the motion effect option toggle anymore when I set up a static wallpaper.
When I first set up the phone, the option was there. Then after a few hours I tried another wallpaper and now the option is permanently gone. No restarts, clearing theme cache or resetting settings manage to bring back the option toggle. Not even using the same picture.
Anybody else experiencing this?

Sorry man I've searched and can't find anything. Hopefully someone will know but if not, you might be looking at a factory reset.

Go to Settings, Apps then Default apps and then make sure that for Homescreen, the circle for TouchWiz home is filled in.

This worked perfectly, thank you so much for this! It was driving me crazy haha

It works,cheers buddy ?
You're a friggin genius!!! Thank you. That was bugging me to no end.
Thanks, I was wondering where the option had gone! It must have been cleared when I tried the Pixel launcher.
I had the same issue today, where I couldn't understand why the motion effect was gone. Then I remembered it had something to do when I installed Nova Launcher. I tried the launcher but I didn't quite like it so I deleted it. I went to settings and checked if touchwiz was checked on and it was not. Always Make sure touchwiz is your default home screen. Simple little thing that can really make you go nuts. It's working great now.
Perfect Solution

That worked for me too. I was thinking they removed it within a update patch.

Motion Effect Issue
Hi everyone,
I called Samsung technical support and they told me within 2 mins now to fix the Wallpaper Motion Effect Issue.
These are the steps to follow..
1- Settings
2- Apps
3- The top right hand corner has a tab with 3 dots, hit that and go to "Default Apps.
4- Go to "Home Screen
5- Final step is, after going to "Home Screen" make sure "Touchwiz Home" is selected. If it's not Select it and that will fix the "motion effect" issue.
??
Hope that helps.

I searched for CM10 screen rotate, and all I saw were a bunch of threads saying it was enabled. Which makes me wonder...
I'm on CM10, have been for a day or so. REALLY great rom, esp for an Alpha release. But my screen doesn't rotate. I've tried checking and unchecking Settings>Display>Rotation to no effect.
Apps that require landscape will do so, but I can't get it to do it on demand. I feel certain I'm missing something, but don't know what it might be.
Any suggestions?
If you are using a launcher such as Nova or Apex, there are auto-rotate settings that must be turned on.

There is a setting under Accessibility that toggles rotation. Make sure 'Auto-rotate screen' is checked.

That one wasn't. I knew it was something simple.
What's really bad about all this is that it's the same launcher I use on my phone.
Thanks!
Fixed??

Yes, mine works now. If I turn the Nook, the orientation rotates as it's supposed to. A reflash may help I suppose, but check ALL your settings first (don't be like me!)
Settings>Display>Auto-rotate screen should be checked.
Settings>Accesibility>Auto-rotate screen should be checked.
And then look through the settings on your launcher to see if there's something in there holding things up. In Nova Launcher it's found in
Nova Settings>Look and Feel>Screen Orientation.
I'm pretty sure Apex has a similar setting, but I don't know where to find it. I had to check all 3 in order for the orientation to change as I turn my Nook.

Yes, changing in all locations did the trick. Thanks.

Hi I've just flashed foxhound rom 0.8 on to my s4 but when I go to change my lock screen wallpaper, the option to choose from gallery is not there. only from the default wallpapers. for home screen the options come out but not for lock screen. Any idea why? I can't Post on the developers thread yet. so if anyone has a solution or could help me post there it would be much appreciated. a couple of guys asked about it before but no one gave a solution.
Thanks.

What launcher are you using? How about navigating to your preferred image in Gallery, then trying to set it as wallpaper from there?
Im using Nova Launcher. Ive tried that too. I can only set as Wallpaper, not Lock screen Wallpaper. I cant ask the foxhound developers as i cant post there yet since i just signed up.
Hmm noticed the same thing here. Previous on TW, able to set lock screen wallpaper from gallery or from settings. Now on Google Edition, doesn't seem to have this option

Note that doing the next few steps will reset your default app preferences, disabled apps etc.
In Settings, Application Manager, hit menu then Reset App Preferences.. read the warning!
This would help IF whatever's causing your problem is actually a 3rd party app that "clashes" (in a way) with the stock Gallery app
edit: also.. if that doesn't help, maybe try changing wallpapers from within touchwiz launcher, THEN relaunch nova
Tried to do what you said adrian, but still no go. When i click on display, wallpaper, lock screen, still only shows me one option there 'wallpapers' . No gallery or option for any 3rd party picture viewer. Could someone maybe help me post on the foxhound 0.8 for i9505 thread?
Thanks alot.

Correct. Been using that app for two years now. It's way smoother and quicker than the stock Gallery app and has some very useful features as well (excluding unwanted folders etc.) :good:

doesn't that option use the samsung gallery?
I'm trying to set my lock screen wallpaper and when I try images from the gallery it won't set. It says saving but doesn't actually do anything. Seems like it only wants to use the stock wallpapers and even that sometimes didn't want to work. Anyone have this issue?

instead of trying to set the wallpaper through lockscreen setting go directly to the image you want and set it through there. probably will not work but it did once for me.

Go to app. List in settings - All apps - search for Lockscreen - wipe cache, data and stop the app service...
Change the lockscreen wallpaper once again...

Try that already but I don't get the choice to do it,it just sets the wallpaper for both automatically.

I use Google Wallpapers app that Pixel phones have. There are a lot of different wallpapers and you get the choice of home/lock screen or both.
I have never faced this issue on any of my devices till now.
On my Mi 9T whenever i open an app and try to swipe up to go back/close app, I always gets redirected to Nova settings page instead. However if I swipe from left or right to go back things works normally.
Need to know if this behavior is fixable?
I have also attached a screen recording video showing the issue.
Edit: not sure if Video is visible to anyone, will try to upload somewhere else and share the URL here.
Gestures? See if you set some up in Nova
Sent from my Mi 9T using Tapatalk
it's under Nova launcher settings> Gestures and input> Gestures> swipe up. But I don't think it's an options to swipe up to go back/close. You can disable going to settings by swiping up tho

Gestures are not the issue here. I have already tinkered around that before posting here.
It's something else, maybe a Nova launcher bug/compatibility issue with MIUI.
Can any of you install Nova and test the same thing for me? Would really appreciate!
Thanks in advance!

I have nova launcher prime and I have no such problem.
i dont have this problem but i have encountered it on a friend's poco. if i recall, the way to solve this issue to go to settings > full screen display > full screen mode > nova launcher
let me know if that helps!
I was having an issue with the nova app drawer or app search accidently opening instead of the MIUI recent apps, when on the main screen.
This is only relevant with MIUI gestures ofc.
The solution was to disable the nova floating app search bar.
Works flawlessly now.
