Being my first android phone, I had a play around - used Unrevoked to root the device and install several versions on the Wildfire ROMs, but to be honest I am getting fed up having to re-install everything every time there is a bug fix, so thought I would go back to the stick rom. So I decided to restore my original backup which worked fine, only problem now is there is an update to download and install. When I try to install the update it boots into clockwork recovery and so the update does not go ahead. Any ideas on how so solve this problem? Voda unlocked UK device
BTW:- Thanks for the guys who put all the work into the custom roms, this is not a criticism of their work - its just I want to go back to a fully working system. Cheers
Hi, you have to rename the zip file : "update.zip" and put it on your SD card. Then, you choose it in recovery.

The update is downloaded automatically by the OS it's not something I have downloaded manually - Do you know where the system would download the file?
It downloads to sdcard/downloads folder i think.
I think too
Thanks guys, yes the upgrade was downloaded to that folder - it took a few attemtps to apply but worked.
So if I wanted to get rid of the clockovery pieces will I need to apply one of the RUU shipped roms? There is not one listed for voda (english) but would it be safe to apply the latest WWE ?
Before anyone say "do a search" which I did and not able to find a guide or answer.
What I want to do is modify a nand rom into cwm zip in order to be use with cwm. Spent the last few days working on nand rom. I got the rom working but what i want to do is turn it into cwm zip. With the zip that I put together, it was able to install and boot to the HTC logo but not able to get pass. What file needs to be modify in order to to get it working? Any help is welcome.
I'm having trouble flashing the stock rom vache has provided on the dev forum. (SD_Acer_A500_7.006.03_COM_GEN1.zip).
Downloaded fine, used the decrypt tool with key $12, Clear/wipe/format everything, and try to install with CWM.
Problem install aborts.
Can anyone help? I am assuming either the download is incorrect/incomplete, or the decrypt hasn't worked? Has anyone been successful with this rom?

Did you download an official acer rom from vaches thread
is it a full rom or just an incremental update - better check!
yes it could be a bad d/l - where did u get it
If it didnt decrypt you can check by trying to open it in windows. You wont be able to 'open' (not extract....) the zip if it is still decrypted
did u extract the actual "update.zip" and flash that?
make sure the you havent named it "update.zip.zip"
how did u try and install with cwm
if u use flash zip choice u dont have to rename it to update.zip
u do if u pick flash update.zip
What rom are u currently running??
Many thanks for the help, it was me being a noob and not extracting the update.zip file.
thanks again
So I was able to build FFOS from source today, ran flash.sh and was able to boot and play with it. I would like to make CWM flashable zips so I can make changes and just flash the zips when I am ready. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?
I have ran
Code:
./build.sh target-files-package
but that doesn't flash via recovery.
Any tips are greatly appreciated. I will upload the ROM as soon as I figure out the best way to distribute it.
Hi guys.
So my P8 Lite (ALE-L21) won't connect to wifi.
I changed like 30 versions of android via fast boot, even bricked it once, but nothing fixed the thing.
I'm looking forward to install 6.0 on a hard flash
The thing is, how would I do that? Because updates come in an .app file, which if you extract you get the boot, system, recovery all that but I have no ideea how to make a .zip file out of it, considering I think it needs some sort of a file that tells the recovery thing how to install the system.
Can someone help, please?
PS. I am also into the balong bull**** (can't post images yet)
can you make it more clear ? bcz I didn't get what you really want to say here

aha , well, it's simple , you can download sokobban B574 deodexed rom , it's marshmallow with a lot of other features included and it's a twrp backup so you can flash via TWRP
There are other roms too you can flash whatever you like

This thing is asking for the stock 6.0 installed, but I have the 5.1
some say if you don't risk you don't win. it may work if you come from 5.1 ,not sure about it but you can try. since it needs to wipe system, dalvik, cache, internal storage it may work. but keep in mind ' MAY ' . if you dont wanna risk , google might be your answer. download a stock 5.1 rom with update.app and search for a tool to unzip the update.app file ( it contains system.img , recovery.img and all the things you need). after you unzip it you have to flash them with adb. to get rid of balong you will need the vendor file, dont know where it is exactly but it should be somewhere here in the forum(take a look at the guides here). once you are done with balong you can try to update it to 6.0 . goodluck
note: update.app extractor
