[Q] Jumped the gun on the leaked update - Droid X General

I'm sure I'm not the only one, or maybe I am????
Last night, I tried installing 2.3.320, but ended up looping at the eye. I forgot to do a full wipe before I started the install. Anyway, I decided to try using an SBF to restore, but I used the wrong one. Bootloader now loads with these messages, "Err:A5,70,70,00,1F" "MEM_MAP Blank" "Service Req’d".
I redid the install for 2.3.320 but still boot loops, is there anyway to clear the user data in case this is the issue?

Check you bootloader first if it says 30.03 use the 2.3.15 SBF if it says 30.04 then use the 2.3.20 SBF from Team black hat

When it loops:
Remove the battery
Put it back
Boot into normal recovery (hold volume down and home button while powering up)
Choose wipe data/factory reset
Reboot after your finish and you should be good.

2.3 OTA bricked my phone.

I have been running on stock 2.2 for a week or so now (SBF'd and was running with no issues)...not rooted or modified in any way. I did the OTA update for 2.3 and now my phone boots to the droid boot animation, and hangs. The boot animation completely freezes up, and the phone is unresponsive. Tried SBFing the 2.3 over and according to RSD that was completed successfully...but got the same thing on startup.
I got my phone the week it came out and have SBF'd many times, had rooted, ran all sorts of roms (as long as your counting different versions)...and of all things...an OTA update bricked it. Awesome.
I'll be heading to my local Verizon store in a few hours. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
That sucks Let us know how it goes at the store
With all the bootloader lockdown crap motorola put on these phones its just a matter of time before their own updates cause problems... anything strong enough to keep out hackers is also strong enough to cause serious problems when legit updates mess up...
Boot into stock recovery (power and hold X, then press the search key at the ! In the triangle)
Wipe data and cache
Reboot

^+1 this. Quite often when restoring the phone via an SBF it results in a bootloop which is corrected by performing a cache and data wipe through the stock recovery on the phone. It seems this can happen because the SBF doesn't actually wipe or replace /data and /cache
Another WIN for karnovaran!

Wow. Thanks! Worked like a charm.
Anybody that might have my same issue after installing the OTA, follow above steps, and wipe data in the stock recovery. My phone booted right up afterwards.
Thanks guy!

Boot Into Recovery From power off

Am stuck on The Rubix Logo. I was on Rubix 1.89 then I was messing around w/phone a lil bit so I decided to load the stock rom back. It loaded up fine. I attempted to load Rubix 1.93 and decided not to wipe (Stupid mistake) and now am stuck on Rubix boot loop. Can someone assist me in loading into Recovery when DX is powered off please. I hope no one mentions SBF. I have no clue how to even begin that process
Been in a similar situation. I assume we're talking about getting into clockwork recovery?
If that's the case, your only solution is an sbf if it isn't kicking you into clockwork already.
Getting into stock recovery is achieved by holding down the home and power buttons from power off.
SBFing is done from the bootloader. that is entered from power off by holding down power, volume down, and the camera button.
You will need the 2.2 sbf file and RSD lite 4.8 on your windows machine in order to perform sbf.
Yes You assumed right about CW, I knew it wouldn't be long before I Fd this up. I already have RSd lite 4.8(I think...have to double check). Where can I get this SBF 2.2 file from? I've looked all over but most links are dead This really Sucks..
Couldn't I just load the Leaked 2.3.320 file instead of the 2.3.15, since I wanted to do the upgrade anyway? or is it just not that Easy?
The 2.3.320 is just a system sbf. I think there were kernel changes that went with that you'll have to have. Standby for PM.
im in need of that 2.3.320 too i have a sitting brick that will not do recovery but can flash with a sbf
Not sure what your situation is but I posted some help over at DF as well and my issue has been resolved by Seph and these instructions I followed. Hope it works for you as well and fyi here's link(http://www.droidforums.net/forum/drod2169-x/99143-rubix-focused-1-8-9-1-9-3-a-34.html#post1021218)
First thing to try, is to wipe data and cache from the android recovery (NOT clockwork recovery.. as.. most liklely you can't get to clockwork recovery.
Easiest way:
--Battery Pull
--When you put the battery back in, hold down the home button the phone.
--As it powers up, let go of the home button when you see the M logo.
--It should go into android recovery. When you see the little droid with the ! in a triangle, hit the search button.
--From the menu, wipe data and cache, then reboot.. it should take you into Focused...
When you get back in.. the FIRST thing I suggest, is to reload 1.8.9.. as it sounds like you do not have the TBH leak (If you don't have it, you probably don't want it)...
PLEASE read the first post, that talks about the differences between 1.8.9, and 1.9.3...
Since you will have already wiped data and cache, you shouldn't need to when loading 1.8.9.. if you have troubles with loading it, just wipe data/cache again...
I wish I had come here first!!!! Been trying to get ROM Manager to work and finally got all excited because it seemed as though it had finally taken, well, now I am stuck in a the Rubix boot loop as well. I've wiped my cache as mentioned about but not data yet. My only option for that is to wipe data is to wipe data/ factory reset. Is it safe to do that since I am rooted? I was running OTA 2.2 rooted.
I am in sbf with rsd lite and can not get it to do anything after loading the file for sbf on my X. It recognizes it but the radio button for the start will not do anything.

[Q] Need Help With Recovery

So this is what happened...
I was helping my buddy install a Rom on his Droid X, and after wiping everything and installing the rom, i rebooted the phone and it got stuck on the "M" screen.
So i figured i would go into recovery and either restore a back-uped session or just wipe everything and reboot again.
But in recovery, he doesnt have an option to restore sessions or anything. and when i try to wipe data and clear cache partitions, he still gets stuck at the "M" screen when i reboot.
Also, in recovery, it gives me a message that says,
"E:cant open /cache/recovery/command"
and after googling this and looking for solutions, none have helped. It says try pulling battery for 5 minutes, or deleting the "update.zip" file (which i cant because i cant boot the phone up), and even pulling the SD card (which doesnt make sense, but nonetheless didnt work anyway).
Any help would be appreciated. I feel real bad for putting his phone on a soft brick haha so please help a brotha out.
Thanks in advance

What ROM? What was the Android version before hand? At this point it's not going to matter, you're going to need to SBF (factory restore). Check google for guides, or look @ the site in my signature.
Yeah, seems from you described you got your hands on a bad file; maybe the file didn't get downloaded completely. In any case, your best bet is to sbf your phone (restoring to stock using software). There is a ton of info on that, do you shouldn't have a problem on how to do that. If you need help or direction, please let us know.

you have encountered my one gripe about my X. You can't get to recovery if you get stuck in a boot loop.
Your only option is to sbf back to stock and go again. I just had this happen today while I was at work. I decided I want to run Apex 2.0 alpha 3 and messed up. I was stuck at work all day without my toy.
im having the exact same problem and i tried to sdf back to stock using rsd lite as explained in another section and it goes thru the whole process reboots itself, says 100% done and tells me to "power up this phone" only i cant because when it rebooted it got stuck on the M screen ands stays there and i cant power it up.....Any suggestions appreciated THANX
Get into stock recovery and wipe

Randomly stuck in boot loop unrooted - How to get out of it

Hi Everyone,
I have been running the unrooted leaked 2.2 since it came out, and have had zero problems until today.
My phone ran out of batteries, and after I plugged it in and turned it on, It got stuck in a boot loop.
I have tried the following to get out of the bootloop:
- take out the battery
- take out the battery and the sd card
- boot into recovery mode and restart from there
I know the official 2.3 ota is coming out soon, so I want to fix my phone and also be able to upgrade to that once it is out.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Eric
UPDATE:::
I finally just booted into recovery mode and wiped data/factory reset and it fixed it.
Then I just easily re-downloaded all the apps from the market on my browser and I'm back to normal.
Thanks!
prob gonna have to sbf or try a factory reset first... hadn't heard or read that one yet

Go back to recovery and wipe data
SBF, it's not hard, may even have to do it twice - I had some random issues like that too, SBF, now all factory stock, waiting for official update.

IT WILL STILL BOOTLOOP IF YOU JUST SBF. You still need to go into recovery and wipe data
Link to the Motorola help page on how to manual wipe (sorry I can't hyperlink because I'm a forum newbie)

Yeah, you are correct, I always wipe first, didn't think about making it an explicit step.

Stuck in Recovery Mode after SBF

I got this phone from eBay as "stuck in M" and thought I might give it a try to SBF it back to stock. So I tried SBFing to 4.5.605 and it works great but after the first reboot, it boots straight to stock recovery.
I read some threads online and some mention to wipe data/cache. I do that and reboot and it still keeps going back to recovery no matter what. I have complete access to the phone with RSD Lite but I cannot get it to boot to the OS. It just keeps booting back to stock recovery.
I would really appreciate some help here. It would be great if I can get this phone working again. Am I doing something wrong? Something specific about the Droid X I'm not aware of?

sounds like its bricked it is possible that your sbf file is slightly corrupted or its the wrong one altogether try redownloading the sbf file or try .602 sbf dont reboot it if you can help it root it and put a different rom on it may just solve your trouble the linux method of sbf is more sound look into that instead of rsdlite if you have to use rsdlite make sure its is the newest leaked version of the program. Always make sure the program completes to the end and it says passed. pull the battery afterwards and do a factory restore hard reset should be good to go
