How do I "properly" do this? Is it the option on ROM Manager where it says "partition SD Card? or is there another way I am suppose to do it.....? Please help...My phone is getting bogged down or held back because I am using too much memory on the phone. Thanks, Ratmuscle
Apps 2 sd
It's in the market.

Depends if your rom supports it & of course you have an ext 3/4 partition, if all is good go get you apps2sd, for me on the evio rom it can be enabled in spare parts...
Or go to settings/applications & you can move some of them to the sd, you should see the option there if the app supports it, in froyo.

Hey everyone....this is adumb question....I'm using modacos r21 rom frf91 and noticed none of my apps are on my sd....how do I download apps to the sd....thanks in advance to all that respond!

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> "Application Name" -> Move to SD
It doesn't give me the option to move it to my sd...if I click on the app itself in manage apps....it doesn't say move ti sd anywhere....any suggestions?

Why don't you use apps2ext so they go on an ext partition? Froyo apps2sd kinda sucks IMO, makes things slower to mount, more problems with apps not showing up after a reboot, breaks widgets, only moves part of the space used for an application, etc..
And wouldn't this be a better question on the Modoco forum? Maybe I'm wrong
Is there any way to move all apps to SD, possibly without deleting my current setup?
I have found that some applications have "Move to SD" disabled, so my phone is filled up already.
Titanium Backup is free on the market - that will do it.
When you run it, open the menu, select batch, and look for "Move user apps to the SD card".
Titanium Backup does loads of other very useful stuff (as well as backing up, obviously ). It's worth getting anyway.
Just be aware that not all apps will run once you move them to the SD. If you find anything that doesn't work, just move it back to the phone and it should be okay.
In cyanogenmod you can set to allow all of your apps to move to sd. If you don't have CM you should try the method mentioned above

Ok I've got a stupid question but havent stumbled across the answer yet... HTC Aria, I've found plenty of info that says you can move apps over to the sd card to free up phone memory but I cant find the option to do this. I've gone through the settings menu, gone to the apps, but there is no button to 'move to sd'. Do I need to upgrade this phone to 2.2 in order to do this?
Personally I'm using the Samsung Captivate loaded with 2.2 and have no problems moving apps over to the card. Even apps that are 'apps2sd' enabled dont have the option to move on the Aria, apps that I was able to move around on my Captivate dont show the option on the htc.
Rooting and custom roms are not an issue for the user, they just keep getting 'out of memory' messages and asked me to fix the phone. The only downside to loading the official 2.2 update is the fact that all data is lost but I do have some spare time to reload everything - I just dont want to waste my time downloading and running the update if it still wont let me move apps over to the sd card. Thanks for the help
Android's built-in support for moving some applications to the SD card (apps2sd) requires Froyo (2.2), so that is why you aren't seeing the option. It is supported in the official 2.2 update for the Aria.
Those of us here don't like to recommend updating to the official 2.2 release because it makes it impossible to root your phone or install custom ROMs at a later point in time. There are a few custom ROMs available on this forum that can give you 2.2 Sense on the phone with things like sideloading and free tethering enabled, and most of the AT&T preloaded apps removed. However if you're OK with AT&T's limitations and don't have a problem not being able to use custom ROMs, then that's your prerogative.

not with the built in a2sd. but if you create an ext2 or ext3 partition on your sd card you can use the s2e app from the market to move apps to the sd card and still use your widgets.

Just to clarify (and potentially save someone some trouble), S2E only works with ext3, not ext2.
Also S2E only works with CM7, don't try it with any other ROMs!
No internal option within Apps themselves.
Tried a couple of app mover apps off Google Play Store -- no dice.
Anyone?
Thanks!
I don't believe you can thanks to ICS.

Wouldnt blame it on ICS as such, works on other ICS devices.

From what I've heard on other forums, Motorola has disabled the feature to move apps to the SD card. I believe that they did this to remove any root exploits. I'm not sure if this is a feature in the developer edition sold directly from Motorola though. Maybe someone with a developer edition could enlighten us.
Now that we have root and jelly bean (I still cant get root on my jb leak but I'm open to suggestions) .....any possible methods to move our apps to the damn SD card?? I'm already getting notifications that the internal storage is almost full.....****ing ridiculous

Try the files on this page
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/10/16/droid-razr-hd-razr-m-and-atrix-hd-all-rooted/
including the new su and superuser, not sure if they are the ones from aosp.us but they worked for me on jB leak
Also when it says press button combo for bugreport, I hold vol.up and power, until the root process is complete, vibrates a total of 5 times for me but it worked flawlessly twice, so yeah I suggest u try and hold the buttons until it reboots because of program

Thanks man, I got it to work finally. I appreciate it...
so any ways you can think of that we can move apps to SD?
Hey guys, I got a BONAFIDE way to move our apps 2 sd!!
first: partition your sd card
then: install and use link2sd
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459
boom there's the tutorial, took me a good 30 minutes to do (was watching the new always sunny episode while doing it) but it freaking WORKS...
definitely the best bonus of us getting root on our razr m's thus far as the internal storage is realistically only 2-3 gigs so this adds like 33-66% to your apps storage!!

I attempted this while carefully following the directions and it did not work on a Droid Razr M..... I succeeded creating the 2nd part. and the app identified it accordingly while looking under storage devices, but unfortunately the app only allows the option to move to "sd card"....which is the name on the internal memory, so it gives an error...motorola sly-fully named the internal memory "sd card" so the app keeps trying to send things there and all I get is an error message.............have you succeeded doing this with a Razr M?? And if so what could I be doing wrong???? Thank you!

Yeah it definitely works on a razr m, I'm using it right now and after I was done the internal memory grew back around a gigabyte....
Hm I'm not sure about that error, I'd say start over and try again with the exact programs it uses

I'm also having the same issue; Link2SD is giving me an insufficient space error, because the internal storage is called 'sd card'. What did you do differently? I've followed the original instructions twice from scratch.
Im not sure, I feel like I've been having problems with link2sd since I ota updated to jb...I can't tell if its working or not though its linking all my apps

Tried starting over and partitioning the apps partition to FAT32 as well as Ext 2, neither worked. Tried on another card, still no go.
The app thinks the internal storage space is actually the SD card, because that's what it's called. If you look around with a file explorer, you'll see that the internal storage space is actually /sdcard. If you want to get to the REAL sd card, it's under storage/sdcard1. storage/sdcard0 seems to be the same folder as /sdcard. Is there a way/a different app that lets you specify where you want to establish your new apps folder? I think that's all the fix it needs. But I am no dev.
Its called external1 actually.

Any update or luck to move apps to sdcard?
Do we need absolutely to root the device ? Apps like gps navigation, maps.... need more space and I can't move them to the external card.
Yeah if anyone could look into this that would be awesome...my car got broken into in Newark yesterday so I'm busy tryna get that taken care of, I'll be able to mess with it myself later in the week
It's getting really irritating though, i can't keep large game apps on here because of this problem, which is ridiculous seeing as to how the phone runs them like a champ and i have a whole 32 gig card in there
