Epic OTA Froyo and No Voice over Bluetooth?? - Epic 4G General

I got the Froyo update yesterday OTA and I cant figure out how to get voice over bluetooth working. Am I doing something wrong or is this a fact.. No voice over bluetooth again?
Anyone know what the deal is here?

You cant use your earpiece to initiate a phone call. You know you press the button on your head set and it asks you who u want to call. That doesnt work with this update as far as I can tell.

I got it yesterday here in Manhattan on this new epic i received. I assumes it was OTA but it might just be installed on the phones now.
Either way..... NO VOICE OVER BLUETOOTH!!!! lol. I need it to work and it doesnt. Has anyone with the froyo update tried to get that to work.....????

Skype on Vogue

ok i heard about problems with it. Will it work>>???

.18 does have a little clicking noise on the cellphone side but the other side doesn't hear it.
I tried the newer versions today and none of them work.
rings once then nothing happens.
so how does it work ??? like you have a bar on the homescreen, and you can login and use skype out like VOIP??? THis will allow for unlimited calls! WOOT WOOT WOOT!

Just be careful, as this could violate you terms of service with you provider.
I know that Bell Mobility explicitly prohibits the use of VoIP services over it’s data network.

Anyone else get this? It says:
"FREE Verizon Wireless software update! IN VZW digital area, dial *228 and press send. Choose option 2 when prompted. This call is airtime free."

Maybe they updated the towers in your area to 3g or something

I got that txt when we were being folded into Verizon (former Alltel Customer).
If you are a Verizon customer, it doesn't hurt to dial *228 to update your PRL (Prefered Roaming List). Option #2 does just that. It updates the list of towers you can use and helps your phone stick with it's own towers. The people at the Verizon shop have told me it helps keep you up to date if you do it every 3 months.
Edit: Just for clarity, this only works if you are using Windows Mobile on your Vogue. I don't know if it has to be the stock OEM ROM, but I know it didn't work for me when I was using NFSFANS v13 WinMo6.5 ROM. I also know that I can't do it if I'm running Android on my Vogue at the time. It just errors out and disconects.
You were right I couldn't do the update with V13, but I was able to update after flashing to V14.

Duh, I completely forgot. lol

Cannot recieve any updates

First, do you have to be on 3g to update PRL or Profile?
Second, I have not been able to update my PRL or Profile since I first switched to a EE03 beta rom, I tried MANY other roms since, I even tried ODINing back to stock EC05 like it was when I first bought it and I get nothing. The only thing I ever get is... could not be updated at this time "Unknown Error."
The one fix that involes changing the OMA DM settings did nothing for me and I couldnt really find anything else that would be helpful to me.
This is really frustrating and I do not want to take my phone back to sprint to have them give me a refurb as a replacement. Anyone have any ideas?

Try to odin back from stock again and you have to unroot before you can get the updates.
You should be able to update prl on any rom... I had the same issue, odin back to stock tried to update prl again it still didn't work so I brought it back to sprint... it failed some test they gave it, and then I got a refurb 2 days later

I wouldn't worry about it. Call it a blessing...load 11114 manually and enjoy being stuck on that PRL. It's a good thing.

I actually run the modified verizon PRL cause sprint sux in my area! I dont even know what updating your profile is but it sounds important so I am upset that I cant do it.

Updating the Profile updates the handshaking between your phone and Sprint. If you have no trouble making phone calls you are good. But if you can't update anything it is something programmed incorrectly on your phone. Take it to Sprint.

It uses the same data path as the PRL updates do...ever notice how the 3G or 1X icon disappear when doing a PRL or profile update? It commissions the data on the phone, sets up the AAA key, etc so your phone can connect to 3G and 1X data. If your data is already working then don't worry about it, contrary to belief Profile Updates will not make your internet speeds faster.

or is every on still getting the poor network coverage error still?
I received it about ten pm on the 25th. No issues to date.
It's not geographically specific. I'm in Canada and have been getting that message since last night.
I wonder if anyone has tried contacting Acer?
EDIT: Well I tried contacting Acer... not sure why I ever bother trying to contact any customer service centre... they're hopeless. At least they didn't drag it out... All I got was to call their "2nd level support" mon-fri 8am-7pm Central Time.

Where are you in the uk ? am in the manchester area and still no update was getting your device is uptodate message up untill yesterday now am getting network covarage message as has alot of other people
It's nothing to do with your geographical location in the UK but rather to do with your devices serial number as to when you get the update.

I'm in east Yorkshire but as others have said it doesn't appear to be a matter of where you live.
Got sick and tired of that stupid " Network Is Poor, Move To America to get the update" message, ok, it didnt say that, but you know what I mean, so I ran this OTA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624908 and it works a treat, nice one OldGaf. Next stop, ROOT!

Considering that people in every country were getting the same message, no. I don't know what you meant.
Acer had some form of system issue, it wasn't in regards to any country.
That said, I took the same route you did and just downloaded the update myself.

Problem with that is you now can't access any wifi channels above 11.
if you use the ww_gen1 update then all channels are available as this is the one that's being pushed out to UK tabs.

Data and voice

Ok so I thought our update in Dec was to allow us to use voice and data together. Didn't need to until yesterday when I was out of town trying to get directions while on an important phone call. Am I wrong to think that or ?
Personally I cant wait for the devs to figure out root so I can use my phone the way it should.

You have to enable advanced calling on your account and then your phone.

Not sure what happened, I was on the phone with my wife and initiated navigation, on top of that accessed my bank account to get balances, I got the bank info I needed while navigation was guiding me and talking to my wife on speaker phone, when I hung up navigation continued running. So the phone and Verizon is capable of handling voice and data simultaneously, don't know what caused yours not to work.
