I have a White Dell Streak from Best Buy AT&T. I was trying to update to 2.1 or 2.2 and I cannot get it past the boot logo. I get the flash LEDs.
Can someone help me get the device back to 1.6 Stock for US?
I am so beat down right now trying to fix it.

For some reason, the white streaks are different... the usual methods for flashing do NOT work. take a look at this thread, this has worked for others that have the White Streak. Follow the QDL tool guide word for word, and you should get straight to 2.2. Your not stuck because of anything your doing wrong... its just something with those white streaks. Good luck.

Thread can be closed but I thought I'd share that it was fixed using QDL Tool on streakdroid.com

Just picked up the dell streak from Rogers ... and going to upgrade to dj steve's build 1.3. Before I even attempt to do this I am trying to find info. on how to backup the stock recovery.
I can not find any information on how to backup the stock recovery... I have not seen the stock recovery for download with this build 1.6 build 7921 either.
I would like to do this just incase I have to put the phone back to stock to return the device... so if some one can point me in the right direction that would be great.
I thought fastboot would help me in my quest to backup the stock recovery but nothing that I can see would do such a thing.
The other thing is I have not seen 1.6 build 7921 stock rom either so I would assume that I need to install clockwork recovery and backup my rom using nandroid?
I believe these are the only 2 things I need if something messes up and I need to return the phone back to stock?
Thanks,
chunkd
Anyone?

BUMP ~ in the same boat here, want to be able to downgrade back to 1.6 and upgrade with the ota update when it becomes available. Anyone?
same boat..
i cant get the build 7921 to the O2 build either
I am on rogers. no problems doing it. it took a while for me to figure it out. basically you have to go to o2 1.6 then up to 2.1.. then 2.2.
I have also successfully downgraded back to 1.6 (when i was on 2.1). But there is no reason to ever want to run an official dell build when steve's builds are so much better.

how did you get onto O2 1.6? any guide that will work from 7921? thanks
I followed one of the guides on here. you should find a 1.6 US to 1.6 O2 guide somewhere. The thing that screwed me up was getting the right drivers for windows. that was a biggie. took me a few hours of reading to finally figure it out.
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...-dell-streak-android-1-6-with-online-kitchen/
this might help. i cooked my own custom 1.6 rom before upgrading to 2.1. I had a problem with the flashing buttons because i had my baseband mixed up. so downgrading back to 1.6 with a custom firmware fixed it. then i updated to 2.1.
then i flashed this:
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...r-the-dell-streak-android-2-1-online-kitchen/
read through the thread. for both flashes you require a specific recovery utility. and the corresponding baseband. And some knowledge of fastboot and installing a custom recovery menu.
There is a bit of a learning curve but once you set it up flashing new updates is a 5 minute procedure.
I wish i can sort out all of the exact files used but i downloaded so many different ones trying to get my streak going and i am now unsure of the exact files used. It just took me a lot of trial and error. Also got stuck in the boot loop a few times...
there is lots of threads on here. i suggest you do lots of reading. it took me a good solid 12 hours of playing around to finally get it going. mind you i am completely new to android phones and flashing... Believe me i was frustrated quite a few times thinking i bricked my phone. But be patient and do lots of reading.
sorry i can't help anymore then that.

YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME. I LOVE YOU MAN!!! IT WORKED 2.2 official build. Do I have to worry about anything? My original build was att 1.6 locked with BB-31.
Hey Lucf,
Now that I got the 2.2 official froyo how do I improve quadrant score. Right now I am at 853.
the only thing that works is the Qualcomm Diagnostic and the QDLTool but the dell still no work...

So I was having a similar issue, and just tried to run my phone into the recovery mode. After selecting update to the .pkg file from sd card, phone went black.
I'm going to try this again and do a battery pull to take it out of this state, hopefully it works.
Also, did you just put the 00 baseband on and flash straight to 1.5, or did you go to 1.1.1 and then to 1.5?

Actually this process that lucf explained puts you on official froyo 2.2. I tried to get on steves froyo but that is whats screwed up my streak. The process above saved it.

I want to do everything from a clean slate to not risk screwing everything up. Is there any way I can get out of DJ Steves 1.5 rom and back to the O2 stock Froyo? Otherwise is there at least a build with swype? Thank you for your time.
Doesn't steve's 1.5 have swype?
Over at modaco Dj_Steve uploaded the official dell 2.2 as a .zip so you can flash it via recovery.
If not, in the android development thread theres one with upgrade and downgrade guides.
Eh, I was an idiot. Just realized roms arent flashing due to no recovery image. I can't get a recovery image on there... its locked to one that will not let me boot absolutely anything at all. Any ideas (and ive tried fastbooting the new one and all, I'm getting nothing)
hello guys as the title says I bought the dell streak from best buy on jan 2 and was trying to put the 2.2 on it, so I did the one click root and it worked, but then by mistake I did the fastboot mode .... and root it again .... after that the phone got stuck on the dell logo with the flashing lights......
is there a way to run the stock recovery and rom on the computer so I can fix my phone.... please I need input.....
I want to restore the phone again .... can somebody help me ...????
is it fixable?? I have a dell streak white at&t 1.6 android 6601

yes I can still get into fastboot or recovery mode I tried running some rom's but after the half point an error comes out and aborts the new roms...
If you can get into fastboot and recovery your fine. I recommend the qdl route personally.

Only way to upgrade the white dell streaks is with the qdl tool. Theres something about them... All other methods just leave you in a boot loop. Go to the guide section of streakdroid.com it has everything you need to get to 2.2, including a great video tutorial.

use QDL holmes, or better yet exchange it and get a black one. I could never get the white one to work. I eventually bricked it, took it back and got a black one. Never tried anything with the black one until last night, and it went flawlessly with QDL.

well you are going about this all backwards... first and foremost. You have a white streak, so the ONLY way to get 2.2 is through the QDL tool. Secondly, no matter what color the streak is, you cannot jump directly to one of steves builds from 1.6(donut). You flashed the 2.2 baseband, which is not compatible with your current stock rom, that will kill your data and phone connection amongst many other things. You need to go to streakdroid.com, take a look at the guides section and then upgrade via the QDL tool. That is your only way other than waiting for the OTA.
I know I should never play with stuff like this, it never works for me. I made it half way through the guide in the set up of my phone and it wouldn't let me install the driver software saying something about it being unverified. I already did the part on the 64 bit install, asking me to type stuff in the CMD to disable digital signing.
So since I am unable to get past this part, does anyone have any advice they can give me to attempt to finish (or abort) the set up of my streak? I really don't want to have a brick. =(
If your using windows 7 while your computer is booting up after the bios are done and before windows boot press the f8 key it will bring up another page at the bottom there will be a way to disable signed drivers

What version of Android 2.2 gets installed when you use the QDL Tool? It's definitely a lot better than 1.6 and it has a lot of goodies. i'm actually hesitant on loading the official released version now...
I'm not sure of the build, but I used QDL tool last night after I bought my streak, and the build was nice, but I upgraded to the latest Dell build from their website, and it works great as well.
I put streakmod on my wife's streak, but I think she'll be happier with the stock dell build plus root.

Using QDLTool will get you to a pre-release of v2.2. From here, you’ll want to upgrade to a newer release
