I really don't understand why froyo has the animated wallpaper. It's a nice gimmick for a screensaver but it draining the battery like hell. You can put it off but then you have a problem with putting a nice picture up on every screen.
Oogh yess, dell had that one right. Let only dedicated app turn when you really need them in portret mode and let's enjoy our 5 inche screen in landscape.
Damn i really wish someone could figure out how dell did this in 1.6 and put it in a froyo rom.
Google had to make just an dedicated screensaver app for the animated wallpaper, not let it take over my phone and battery.
Microsoft has tried it before with an active desktop.No succes.

Don't really understand the problem? You want your live wallpaper turn off? Or you want any wallpaper you set to look correct in both orientations?

I don't need wallpaper in portret mode, this device has phone optional.
If i wanted it to be my primairy phone , i bought a smaller screen, so more portable.

The omina has some fancy animations to rotate the screen when you turn the phone back and forth from portrait to landscape. Can this be duplicated/ported over to the HD?

Yeah they're pretty much only put in there to give the device time to load the new screen.

Yes it is eyecandy (like Dynamo Task switcher) which is why I like it. We need to impress iphone users lol!
I am bumping this thread again because I would really love to see the Omnia animations on the HD. Anyone willing to work on this porting project?
i dont think that it is so easy to do that though i would love it.
but the hd hasnt even the landscape option in every app. as we have to use gyrator i dont think it would be so easy to add that kind of animation

You can have manual screen rotation set to hold the left softkey if you enable landscape in settings then go the buttons,Select rotation then when you hold call it'll rotate every app.
I find it really useless, it takes too much time rotating the screen when you are instead, trying to make the device more responsive and faster.

So I just found the fancy widget apk which imitates htc.s sense UI and..
It Looks awesome on my x10, but the widget doesnt display any weather information ¿
Do I need to install something to access this feature?

I just got Beautiful Widget yesterday and its lovely. Yes I had to pay 1.78 Euros for it but well worth it. Might be an alternative if you can't get yours working.
You may need to go to the fancy widget config screen and uncheck the location box at the top and then 'set location'
Will no longer be greyed out. Set ur location and it should work. Did for me neway . . . .

Can someone post a video of beautiful widget running on their x10? I want to buy it based on what everyone is saying but I don't know much about how it actually looks
To be fair its a bit pointless showing you any pics of it cos its soooo skin-able that it would take 100's of shots to show you.
Its 4 colums wide and two deep, you have large clock display, day, date temperature and picture of the weather. The clock can be either in its own box with background or a see thru one so it sits over your wall paper nicely (which is what I have got!) The clock font and colour is hugely changeable, you just download more skins to your phone - free once you've made the initial purchase. The weather pictures probably have a dozen different settings. The text colour for the day date bit is entirely your choice.
It is 'beautiful' and for under £2 its pretty darn cheap for what you get.

Just wondering if it is possible for us to have rotation animations on the Galaxy S. It would much improve the looks of it, and would make the phone feel more smooth. I heard that cupcake versions of Android had it, so can we not use the libs to port it to 2.2 FROYO on the Galaxy S?
I put £20GBP as a bounty to the person who does this. Please post here if you wish to offer a bounty to a developer who manages to do this!

This is one of those situations where open source would come in handy.
Your best bet would be to wait for cm/aosp for our phones and then modify source.

I too would appreciate this as long as it didn't sacrifice performance in any way, shape, or form
Another thing that bugs me is that the screen fade on/off is not quite perfect. It was terrible in Eclair, in the latest Froyo XWJPA the fade on is nearly perfect but fade off is still choppy.
You'd think something as simple as fading the display on or off would be piece of cake for this beast. The Aria and Milestone that I use do it very smooth no problem.
It's just little things like this that, when put together, make or break the experience.

If yo guys try it in SGS Tools it will animate. Maybe someone can port that over to all other apps? Pretty sure its not very simple...

Not as far as I know. No Android device has had it since cupcake and I don't see it coming back based on the fact that nobody has worked on it for any phone AFAIK.
The latest Froyo ROMs like JPY are fast enough that's it not as important as it once was, but I still feel that it would give an awesome premium feel to the UI and I'd gladly donate if it was done.

what do you mean by rotation animations? is it same as transition effects? as I start with Froyo I dont have any Imagination about cupcake

I see it on the Tablet-PC Video with Android 3.0. But it is a long way to it. So I would love to see a good animation on the Galaxy. I would donate, too!
I wonder if we could do a pseudo rotation.
You could run a service that monitors the sensor and when the phone is turned it could quickly take a screen shot. The animate that and then show the real screen.
So it would go: Sensor rotate triggered> Portrait Screen shot before rotate allowed, Rotate screen, but show Portrait screen, Screen shot screen underneath> Spin Portrait screen shot around center>Fit and overlay ontop of Portrait screen the landscape screen shot to center and stretch to correct size> then show real landscape Screen.
Hmm I know it sounds alot, but this phone it fast and actually the Iphone rotate isn't THAT fast, it seems to have a little more delay tolerance on rotate than Androids do.
I'm sure this kind of thing would be very easy for a dev to try out. Wish I was a dev

Hey guys was looking around because I know we all have had problems with wallpaper sizes........I think I found the solution ( not sure if it has been mentioned ....just thought I might help) just try using a programme called multipicture live wallpaper that can be downloaded free from the market........ it automatically resizes any pic to fit and also has options to change wallpapers by double tapping and also have different pics on different screens.......hope I would have helped someone out there........enjoy

No not really, i've posted on here about 10 times that 1610x1280 fits perfectly, people disagree and quote blah, then 2 days later they're back here again winging that their wallpaper doesn't fit.

It seems to use Live Wallpaper. Can you make it work with just regular wallpaper?

I've tried this app...it works pretty good but as the other poster said....as long as the resolution is correct...then it's just nice to have and not a necessity.

any 1600x1200 wallpaper or higher will work just fine.
the actual size is 1980x1408
Personally I have no issue with the image scrolling left & right. It does annoy me though that honeycomb zooms the image and moves it up and down when you go into the apps menu or widget menu...
I posted this solution in the original themes and apps thread; it actually looks MUCH better from a clarity standpoint than cropped oversized wallpapers. Of course, if you're centering and resizing you will have identical quality BUT you will not have a giant black bar across the bottom of your screen when you switch to portrait. If you love switching wallpapers and you use high quality SLRs and such this is the only way to go.

I tried it, but I dont like it. The one long continuous home screen is cool, but I dont like the dullness that is the app drawer. All I want is the stock launcher with the ability to go to 1 home screen and change the grid size. Anyone know of such a thing for honeycomb?
i do not get the need to change to launcher ui.when I have my tablet in my hand im looking at a app I use. Don't care much for all the not needed flash .keep it simple save the CPU cycles and memory for the apps and browser.
With that said the pics look nice. Just dont see tthe point
Good responses I didn't like it cuz I have SPB shell and this launcher still needs alot of work to it in my eyes. That being said FOR THOSE THAT WANT CHANGE and don't wanna spend 15 on a 3D launcher this might be of interest which is why I decided to post

keeping it simple is why i want to removeall but 1 home screen and change my grid, but sadlyall these launchers app drawers are so bland

Who needs an App Drawer when you can have these Folder Cubes.
This video is after an hour or so of goofing with it.
No way was this a quick process. But it was easy to do.
Yes I did move every app from my App Drawer to the Folder
Cube on the desktop.
And no. You haven't lost or began to need reading glasses.
Just try imagine that I took the time to clear up the video a little bit.
There's not a lot that I can do to lessen the pointlessness. So. Much like the video. I didn't

Look for a app called Folder Organizer.. I have it and set it up once it allows you create groups with menus on your home screen .. not exactly what your looking for but you might like it.. also DENSITY CHANGER APP.. im not sure the exact name .. changes the screen density . This changes the icon size not sure if it will allow you to drop more on there or not..

No problem. This app works just as well on the Nook Color as it does on the Acer. (?!?Maybe even better?!?) Thanks again for sharing the find. I'll use this for a solid couple of days and report back on the stability. As well as any news. So far so good though.
