[Q] Wrong image thumbnails after changing the shutdown animation - Fascinate General

After replacing the shutdown animation in /system/media/video/shutdown , the thumbnails displayed by Root Explorer still show as Verizon's original up to shutdown_26.png (and yes, the new shutdown animation is correct.. just the thumbnails displayed by Root Explorer are not).
Anyone know how to refresh the thumbnails? It's not a big deal, but it bothers me a bit..
I tried the following and didn't work:
1. Deleting the content of /sdcard/DCIM/.thumbnails
2. Clearing the data from Gallery app
3. Deleting the content from /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media/cache/local-imag-thumbs and hires-image-cache
Help??
Thanks

I've noticed this as well, but if the animation is correct why does it matter?

Change Phone.apk key layout to black

Hi,
I changed the images and buttons on the Phone.apk, I made it with a black background. I created a new file and Phone.apk I later transferred to the phone.
I do not see my pictures changed, but still those old gray.
If I pull the file Phone.apk with adb, I notice that the file on the phone is what I changed myself.
Any ideas?
No one knows help?
Maybe it's a cache problem, but I have delete all cache in the recovery mode.
I changed the images within the application Phone.apk, the file has been transferred to the phone, but the images do not appear.
You know if the Desire moves images into a specific folder and not use those file apk amended from me?

Click to collapse
hmm don't know but you can try to change in the rom.zip like if you have defrost2.5 you can open it and go to app and change it to your program and after that flash it, wipe before. do a nandroid bakup beacuse i don't know if it works

[Q] Gallery issues

I have a few questions re: the gallery that I'd love some help with.
1. Gallery doesn't update a folder if I move a picture using a file explorer (Astro or Root Explorer for example). If I reboot the phone then the picture shows up in the correct directory. I'm guessing that restarting the gallery app would do the same thing. Anyone else having this issue?
2. Is there a way to have the gallery only look to one location for pics? I hate how it always grabs every image on my SD Card. Especially if you have Bejeweled installed. It adds about 10 folders of images that I don't want to have to browse through. Is there another gallery app that would allow me to set this if the stock gallery doesn't work that way?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Also noticing that the Gallery just doesn't update frequently. I thought it did this every time you opened it, but I guess not. Is there a way to force programs to re-scan the SD card?
SDRescan in the market works perfectly... and if you want to keep the folder from being seen in the gallery, just add a blank text file to the folder and rename it .nomedia
Thanks odrecords. Both of those work perfectly.
stock gallery will grab images from any folder on your SD if you don't want your gallery to load em theres two ways when in gallery hit menu then show hide. this will do as it says and either load or not load certain folders. Other option is to place a period in front of the folder name u want hidden i.e. ".test". This will hide it from the Android system in general but not file explorers.

[Q] Go Launcher EX dock background disappears after reboot?

All I'm trying to do is use a custom dock background with Go Launcher EX. I'm rooted and have both the android market and gapps installed. I installed Go Launcher EX via the market.
Whenever I set a custom dock background via the Go Launcher preferences, it only stays put until I reboot. After a reboot, the background disappears and there's no background at all. The background I'm using is a PNG which i have located in /sdcard/theme/docks, permissions on the file according to Root Explorer are ---rwxr-x.
What gives here? Why do I have to reset it after every reboot?
EDIT: It's interesting to note that if I use the "GO Theme background" under Preferences->Visual settings->Backgrounds for my dock background, the theme image is persistent after any number of reboots.
it's only a shot in the dark but i think at reboot the system is starting go launcher. according to this the rights have to be rwxrwxr-x
or the sdcard is'nt mounted when it loads - then copy somewhere to system might help
never done this - just some ideas ...
I'm unable to modify permissions of files in /sdcard. Also, I have custom dock icons that are located in /sdcard/theme/icons and they always stick around after a fresh reboot, so I'm not sure about the need to move my dock background PNG to /system. I currently only have apk's in /system.
the icons have the same permissions ?
maybe a bug in go launcher you just discovered !
Yes, the icons have the same permissions.
Could it possibly be that I'm cropping the image? Anyone know the exact dimensions I would need to use to avoid cropping?
just looked at my kf - can't find the original images - does anyone know the location ?

[Problem] No "sdcard", only "root" folder :(

Hello,
it's a little bit difficult to explain my problem. it started few days ago when my 7.7 didn't turn on.
Then i read about the trick to press the power button longer than 10 seconds and it really worked. First I was glad but then i found out, that my picture gallery and my mp3 player was empty!
First I thought that everything was deleted, but that wasn't true. The files are still there. In fact it seems that the system has changed the "/sdcard" area to "/root". So the apps can't find the files.
I uploaded a file where you can see what i mean. On my Smartphone is also a "/sdcard" instead of the "root".
My 7.7 is rooted, no other modifications have been made...
Who can help me to solve this problem without doing a reset to factory setting..
That's just how the stock file browser shows it, it's not actually mounted at /root.
If the gallery and music player are empty you could try giving it a little time for the media scanner to add your media. If it doesn't show up, then wipe the data of the media storage app and restart your tab. You may have to restart it again after it has built its database to get everything working properly.
i wiped the data, didn't work
what if the internal storage is really mounted as /root now? what can i do to change it?
because the empty gallery and mp3player aren't the only problems now. if i take a picture, i cannot use the preview to look at it. it says "no elements" then. so i think its a problem more deep in the system...
i really dont understand how this could happen, i just turned the tab on..
If you have ES File Explorer, it should show that same "root" folder as actually being the internal "sdcard" folder. I don't think it has anything to do with actually being rooted, it is just how the built in File Manager lists the folder.
Another option, perhaps Fix Permissions in Recovery may fix your issues.
can i find a tutorial to fix permission in recovery mode?

[Q] Gallery on stock ROM not reacting to manual FS changes

Sometimes I move some of my pictures from one directory to another using ConnectBot's local command line or the ASTRO File Manager. The problem is, after this the new pictures are not visible in the stock Gallery app, and there are blank rectangles where the old ones used to be.
I tried cleaning Gallery's cache & data, manually deleting sdcard/Android/data/com.android.gallery3d and sdcard/DCIM/thumbnails, but none of this helped. The only thing that helps is rebooting my phone.
Is there another way to force Gallery to rescan my file system?
