Sorry guys but I need some serious help getting android to run on my htc hd2....
I have been trying to get android to run for the last 5 weeks+ but I have not even got close....
HSPL 2.08 installed.....
Tried mostly all android builds....
Tried every radio known to man in combinations with custom ROMs....."AND NOTHING"
Currently running....
HTC HD2 UK (LEO T858) 576 MB...
MANILLA VERSION: 2.5.20191914.0...
ROM: Energy.Leo.21683.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.DinikGlass.Nov.02.7z...
RADIO: 2.12.50.02.2...
SD CARD: SANDISK SDHC 4G CLASS 2...
Formatted the sd card with....SDFormatter V2.0 many times....
I follow all instructions from the professionals I.E the chefs....and also have been very patient with regards to letting android create its .img files sometimes leaving for hours at a time......
I have read copious amounts of threads relating to this issue, so I have not been lazy...... but all avenues circle back to the same conclusion "no android no work"....
The only thing that I possibly hindering me is my sd card, but some say that android runs smooth from these type of cards...so instead of going out and spending a fortune on a top of the range one I thought that I would post this thread first....
Is it something simple that I am missing........?
Please any help would be most appreciative......
same.. :/
Hi, i seem to be having a similar problem
I run haret and it seems to run through some scrolling text, then leave a blank black screen for ages at a time.
Have i too done something wrong?
Any help wud be greatly appreciated
Same...
Me too, the exact same thing. Have tried MDJ froyo rev 1.5, with S1 kernel and with Hastarin R8. Both types I get a black screen with HTC in green - but stays like that for upwards of 10mins.
Running:
HSPL: 2.08
Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
Rom: kwbr topix 1.6.3
Radio: 2.15.50.14
Memory card: Sandisk 16Gb SDHC Ultra
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the other thing you can do is get the android sdk, install adb, and watch the logcat, it shuld be obvious if it starts to loop, or copy the logcat and post it so someone can help you debug.
my guess, your card's corupted... try formating it to an ext4 file system, then back to fat32. or scan it on a linux box and see if it shows up corupted...
Thanks t1h5ta3....
I will give it a go....
i used to face the same issue. place the android folder in the root of your sdcard
and check your startup.txt for your android path
e.g set cmdline "rel_path=Android"
you've probably did it before....
So why not pay a little money and get a low end SD card for testing? That would tell straight away if there's a problem with the card.
I use a 16GB Sandisk class 2 with no problems and also have a 16GB Kingston class 4 that runs fine.
Never had any problems, except SOD (and there's a fix for that), with these 2 cards.
Both formatted Fat 32 with 32 kilobyte allocation size on a Win 7 machine.
Makes Sense.........
"Enough" is "Enough"
From my previous post I have purchased another SDHC card (TOSHIBA 8GB CLASS 4) for testing android and surprise surprise I am still getting exactly the same problem, not a thing in regards running android. Why is such a simple thing turning out to be so problematic, my head has finally dropped and I am losing the will to live.....?
Common Issues.....
whilst linux is booting android it will always stop at "SMD: ch 1 1 2 -> 2".......... ???????????? i have searched for this with little or no success.
And one thing that I find very confusing is the Startup.txt files... what should it actually say because many people have different opinions.....BOOT or BOOTLINUX ????
Can anyone please please please post a complete setup in regards of rom, radio, etc etc of there HTC HD2 (LEO) European version """(NOT A 1024)"""" running android, so I can compare and find out what the BL**DY hell is going on...

Once again any help would be extremely appreciated....
The only other thing I could think of is that maybe it's the Windows rom that you're using. Haret Android actually makes use of bits and pieces of what winmo leaves behind in memory, and since you are running a rom with cht built in, it may be using the ram memory differently, storing different things in ram addresses that Android doesnt expect. I would back up your NRG CHT build (shouldnt be too bad using XDA_UC), and flash a stock rom or NRG's bare bones Android rom. If it doesn't work, at least it's one more thing you could cross off the list of likely suspects

try my proven and tested method, very simple
HERE
The plot thickens
Thanks for the suggestion huggs....
I flashed Energy.Leo.COM2.Barebones WM Build.For.Android as you suggested and have been getting some strange results??????
Firstly because that particular build auto boots into android once you switch on your device with an sd card inserted it does not detect either my Toshiba micro 8GB or my Sandisk 4GB SD"HC" cards and says "NO STORAGE CARD HAS BEEN DETECTED"... although saying that I can open file explorer on my device and read both storage cards.....but the auto boot does detect my Sandisk micro 2GB "SD" card and auto boots android but Linux stops at line "usb: product_id 0xff9" and hangs......
Either my hd2 does not like micro "SDHC" cards or it is knackered......
I AM CONFUSED.COM
Thanks Jigners i have already tried your methord but i think something a bit more drastic is required for my device....

since you have HSPL already
bootloader
connect to pc
Task 29
disconnect to pc
battery pull
bootloader
flash VBNDroid-Reloaded2Alt-21913-Oct08
format SD card
download [UPD][BUILD][18.11.10]|MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4 [kernel: MDJ S6.1]
unzip
put the Android folder to your sd card
with device off - put sd card to device
boot
manually click on clrad then haret (do it fast, you must activate haret while
hardware keys are alight)
print that step by step guide, you can never fail on that.
jingers i preformed task 29 and i can not get my phone into the bootloader ?
Hi there,
One question to all of you having problems with Android. Do you happen by any chance to have extended battery?
I similar problems with Android. One day it worked and the next day it wouldn't and no matter what I did it just refused to work on any build I tried. I was so sure that it was because of the memory card that I even didn't think about the extended battery causing problems.
So if you try everything, including different wm roms, different android builds, changing sd cards and are totally at loss just try any rom with extended battery support or try changing the kernels that support one and then try again.
Provided you've got extended battery and are not too much experienced in Android issues I could bet that this is the cause of your problems.
hi rafian a good shout but no i am not using an extended battery.....
But is does not matter now because i think my phone is bricked after doing a task 29 because it will not enter the bootloader ??????????
Also because it is not entering the bootloader and all i get is the NRG flash screen from my preivious rom and that task 29 has not removed it am i right in thinking if i send my phone off to be repaired / replaced they will see that splash screen and know that i had HSPL installed and void my warranty ???????
I'm sorry to read it Frank. This is the worst case scenario ( .
WHY O WHY did i do a task 29......................
Got my HD2 to work
Hi all,
I also faced many problems in my attempts to make Android run on my HD 2. I got stuck on the startup screen (starting Linux kernel etc).
In the end irrespective of what the other form user stated, you need to install HSPL (article link provided below). Be warned, to install this I had to switch off everything (wifi, BT etc) but phone (and a reset was needed) and had to make sure on windows desktop that Windows Mobile Device Centre was able to communicate with phone BUT was not synching anything.
Once HSPL was installed I found out that my Radio ROM was too old. need 2.07... + (I had 2.06...) I then updated my Radio ROM thenTADA I am now running Android on my HD2.
Here is the link that resolved my issues.

Thanks for you reply RayHeath, yes right now i flashed with the factory rom.
First i wiped everything by task29, then i flashed with the factory rom tracked by my serial number.
Even thoug Only 162.42 MB i can see in Total storage, if you have the same device can you please check with yours how much its showing please.
Imp note : in settings --> about phone ---> hardware information , i can see RAM SIZE : 576MB & FLASH MEMORY SIZE : 512 MB
ARE THE VALUES CORRECT
when you perform task29 you have to flash magldr again, did you think about that?
I think with task29 also partitions will be deleted...when you are able to install stock winmo rom you must be able to flash any other rom. At least mdjs cm7 should work when you try an android rom because it uses less memory than winmo.

First thanks for your reply, Task29 wil not remove partitions, it wil wipe fully thats what i can conclude after my 2 days of investigation, the harware information which shows the values as 576 MB & 512 MB are fine. even i agree with you, as it is giving the values of hardware present on phone.
can you give me once your values @ settings ---> SD Card & Phone Storage please, then i can explain you more clear.
My values : Total Storage : 162.42 MB Urs :
Total Program : 208.20 MB Urs:
If any one have the same model with 512MB please provide me the inputs, usefull for investigation

I think you have to add these two (Storage and Programm) because winmo seperates?! Please, correct me if I'm wrong^^
I can tell but it would be useless because I'm using Android w/ data2ext
btw: I'd wp7 on my device 3 times and I always could get back to Winmo, Android or whatever. Maybe you should try to install magldr 1.13 and cwm 400mb. I don't think that your nand has gone

You are right. Task29 does wipe everything. He was having problems with his internal storage.
Naughty, first he´s right, you should now flash the MAGldr 1.13. Then choose an Android NAND Rom from whoever you want. Most of the cooks have included the CWM already with the right size. It would definately be easier for you using one of them. I personally use CorDroid. It´s fast and used doesn´t use that much of the internal space on the HD2. And a lot of eye candy. And again very very FAST. Okay?

Yes, those values are ROM and RAM... the ROM, or internal storage seems right, I think, because a lot of the internal storage is taken up by the operating system. The RAM seems a little low, though. Some of the RAM isn't shown because it is used by system and radio, but you should still have a total of 300 or more, I think. I can't remember what the numbers are suppose to be exactly. Try asking in WinMo section what their numbers are for the totals.
What WM rom did you flash? I have heard there's a problem with build 3.14 and HSPL, I think if I remember right. If that's the stock rom you flashed, you should probably try a different stock ROM or just task 29 and go directly to MAGLDR and whatever android or wp7 rom you want.

thanks for your reply, i just dropped in Winmo and waiting for inputs....
I Flashed with 3.14.707.3 (04666) WWE, before this itself i had problem with it. I am not remembering , i tried for "DL.DesireZ.v3.4.final.nand" and also "Motoman234_MyTouch4G_V3.1_DAF" after WP7... from here i am seeing this problem.
Before WP7, i loaded "Motoman234_MyTouch4G_V3.1_DAF" just for review and it worked fine, but now due to less phone memory after flashing HTC SENSE itself is not loading "its force closing" nothing i can do just loop of this force close. So i concluded that there was some partition operation went accidentally, and now there is only 162.42 MB partition available for phone memory to use totally.
Are there any tool to work on phone memory partitions..??? i tried task29, clockwork recovery where i went for advance & wipe options too.

Okay, try the CoreDroid Rom. All of the apps will be installed automatically on sd card and you don´t need to worry about you internal memory. Here´s the link. By the way please read!

Hippeee....Hurrrraayyyy....!!!
Total Program came to 336.17 MB, i removed HSPL and i got this.
But sir still i have one doubt, Now My RAM Size is showing 448MB, where before i had saw it as 576MB. How come suddenly it had been decreased. any idea...what should be the exact value of RAM Size should be in harware information...??
FYI: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11286863&postcount=6
Stock rom doesn't let the users use the full 576 ram. It will save some for the system.
[Q]What's the different between (512Mb & 1Gb) data file running Android from sdCard??
Good day everybody,
I just want to know [Q]What's the different between (512Mb & 1Gb) data file running Android from sdCard??
because I'm having problems with running the MDJ FroYo HD v.4.6 in 512 Mbyte HTC HD2 version, such as;
- freezing
- slow movement while browsing the menu
- can't access the Market where it always saying that the username or password is wrong
while the same Android ROM is running smoothly on the T-Mobile HD2 version without any single problem and very fast.
both phones, the T-Mobile HD2 version and the HTC HD2 512Mbyte version are updated to the latest Radio (2.15.50.14) and Microsoft Windows 6.5 ROM (3.14.531.1)
any hints??
512Mb & 1Gb data files are simply the amount of space u'll be taking off d sd card for android apps & data installations...So d bigger,d more space you'll have for your android and less space on your sd card for things like music, ebooks, images etc...
IMHO....1GB & above is highly recommended so u don't have low memory issues after tossing android on your sd card..This is cuz u might end up needing more apps & some apps lyk high-end games do tk up a lot of space.
As for speed differences between the two Leos...Well d TMobile Hd2's more buffed up and so..........U might want 2 try lighter android builds cuz d HD versions are some what heavier....Also your choice of Memory card class & capacity also helps...i'd recommend an 8GB Class (4)...
The Data.img isnt your problem anyway your problem is that you are trying to use a very old and outdated rom that was never very good to begin with

hi
what kernel do you use?
try the hastarin 8.6 kernel. i used to have similar problems (i mean laggy phone) and the kernel kind of sorted it out (i use the same android build as you do). maybe it'll help you (i don't know if it's gonna help market problem but i think 'freezing' might be cured)

I mean if I move the apps & games I downloaded from market to the sdCard using the Manage Applications under setting menu, will it make any diffrence???
Thanks

Yes it might be the kernal, the kernal in the phone shows these lines:
2.6.32.15.s8.0-gf06973d-dirty
[email protected]#10
Mon Dec 13 17:53:37 KART 2010
And I do remember that when I un-rar the ROM file, there was a kernal folder but I didn't use it because I don't know how!!!
Whould you please upload me the kernal you're using or give me the link you download it from??
Would some tell me how to install the new kernal ???
Regarding the Market issue, just don't worry about it " I was entering the wrong pass " Many thanks

Thsnks for the reply, but it's not helping as I said in the first post
" I'm running the same version of this ROM in more than one T-Mobile HD2s and all of them run very smoothly without any problems"
Then how it works in the T-mobile smootly but not in the 512Mbyte version ???

Swap the SD cards between the phones and try again.
If it follows the SD Card (and you're sure the setup is EXACTLY the same) it's your SD
It could be a bad SD or you may just have to delete/recreate the partition and format it.
Your phone are also different. I'm not sure it's just the mem size, some chip could be differents, drivers...

Thanks for the reply, so does it mean that I will have only a 1 GB in the sdCard dedicated for Android and all applications from the market???
I mean if I move the apps & games I downloaded from market to the sdCard using the Manage Applications under setting menu, will it make any diffrence???
Thanks

Yes u'll have only 1GB dedicated to android and all apps...By this i mean it'll show up as available "phone" memory (just think of it as a virtual drive but in reality it takes physical space 4rom ur sd card)...I.e..using an 8GB mem card? Phone storage will read 1024MB while SD storage will read abt 6.xxGB...
Yes, if u move apps 2 sd it'll mk a difference but i think 1Gb is enuf for apps and u don't really need 2 move apps 2 "sd" storage as it might cuz slight speed issues since u r running android from d "same" mem card.

Hi everybody
I am using a android SD build with exceller boot loader. today i was about to flash MAGDLR on it so then i can flash Android NAND build, but when i did active sync and i opened the option to view my files on my sd card, here comes the problem when i opened it i saw two 1GB disks.
I only have 1GB sd card in there and i thought HTC hd2's only have 576mb of ram then why is it showing me two 1GB disks.
I can upload a Picture if u would like to see it.
Thanks.
1gb of RAM? You mean ROM right? Rom is internal storage while ram is active memory or whatever, i won't dive into it.
Well maybe your phone is a TMOUS HD2, which has 1 gb of ROM, EU hd2's have only 512mb.
If you see a t-mobile logo at the top of your phone, your phone is a TMOUS hd2.
do u mean, when i install an app it install its on the ROM?
"I am not a NOOB"
It matters not whether or not the HD2 has 576 ram or what not, why would the ram show up as a place as to where you could store files? It's not supposed to happen or possible. >.>
You're running winmo on NAND and boot android through SD card, correct?
1gb refers to the NAND storage
1gb refers to your SD card
These are ROMs, not RAM.
Yes I got it. It was the nand storage and now I have installed android on it so it is done now.
Thank you all

How do i know if my HD2 is the leo 1024 or 512 or Tmous?
If it's a tmous version. it will have a T-mobile logo on top of the screen and a green button for picking up call and red button for hanging up. also, 1024 is the same as tmous
All TMous are 1024
Can you get 1024s on O2 UK, cos I'm running android off SD card, and need to store apps on the phone storage, and it says I have 1gb internal memory? I'm slightly confused, cos it says this in Winmo as well
O2 use the EU 512's
The apps that only run from phone memory need to be installed there, but use app 2 sd to move the apps that will work on the sd card

Like post #2 said if you have a red end/power button and a green send/call button and have T-Mobile in silver at the top of the device right under th ear speacker. Then you have a TMOUS HD2. Also if you had 1024MB in the ROM flash, memory in Settings>About Phone>Hardware Information in Windows Mobile you have a TMOUS.
Where exactly are you lookin at in the settings while in Android to see 1GB of memory? I have a TMOUS and I am running Android from NAND and I only see 411MB of Memory on mime.
I think the OP means he has 1gb memory but i assume means that the data image file within thr android sd build is 1gb .img. This i assume is what is used to store all the apps and.data when running android from SD card (1gb = loads of android storage) If i am correct then the oeiginal 448mb that is reserved for stock winmo and can only be used while booted un winmo...ie...is untouched when running android from the sd card...I Think!

Dang how did I miss the fact he was talking about a SD card build, crap must have been off in la la land when I read that post.
How come when you run Magdlr cwm zips you have a limited amount of memory compared to a sd android build. i thought the tmous had 1gb memory?
Sorry, My bad...my post wasnt in reference to the OPs original question but was instead referencing Nigeldk post
Slightly confused tho as to how or why you can see 1gb internal memory in winmo. are you maybe seeing 1gb avialable storage on your memory sd card while in winmo? Since im sure my EU hd2 only shows 448mb "intenal storage" but in reality only has around 199mb avialable for actual personal programme/media storage. I assume the remainder of the 448mb is given to the actual winmo system apps/files. Dont take my word for it tho as im pretty new to the hd2 and still working things out
MAGLDR had to be compatible with all HD2's that ment that the size was limited to 512MB since only the US tmobile HD2 has the 1G nand.. so what ever you put magldr only wrights to about 512MB
(so ive heard, and makes sense) feel free to correct me

You are correct the DFT had to make MAGLDR compatible with all HD2's. Being that the TMOUS has 1024MB of ROM and the EU HD2's has 512MB of ROM. but I do not think it is limited to 512MB of ROM cause if that was the case you would not have separate ROM downloads for EU HD2's and TMOUS HD2's.
I do know though that MAGLDR was made to work with the TMOUS's 576MB of RAM just like the TMOUS Win Mo ROMs. This is why you have to have a 2.07.50.xx or higher radio with MAGLDR and also why MAGLDR unlocks the extra 128MB of RAM in the EU HD2's
I was probably looking at the wrong thing. It says 576mb in actual fact, which makes more sense. Thank you so much for your help
