Hey guys, I have a rooted fascinate running jt super clean rom(revolutions) and non voodoo kernel, the question i have is that now after the root, in my music there are a few annoying phone jingles that are now showing in the music player. a lot of them are headed unknown artist and then UI then(for example) Camera Shutter or Charger _ Connection. Are these safe to remove since the are on the sd. or will that f&$k up the phone? if they should not be deleted is there any way to hide them???
Thanks Guys

Hello to everyone reading!
So,everything went ok and the X8 is now rooted/JIT/xRecovery-ready!
The problem is that since I rooted my phone,I cannot change individual ringtones/notifications.
I mean that whenever I try to edit a contact,it only lists the internal preinstalled
ringtones/sounds and I have no option to use my music or mp3s.
Any way to change that or even use an app to do this?
I cannot understand why its happening.
I only changed my general ringtone using ASTRO Manager, but thats it!
N.
Bump! Noone?! Maybe I need to change the mp3's folder name on the SDCard or does it have anything to do with files permissions?
N.
FIXED! Downloaded RingoPro which somehow restored the regular menu!
Totally weird if you ask me!

Have something similar, only that when I try to set a ringtone contacts app crashes. (com.sonyericsson.contacts has closed unexpectedly) Don't know how to fix that yet.
UPD. This strange behaviur happens when no default ringtone is selected (something went really wrong, when restoring backup).
Same problem. Thanks for this app! because nobody can solve this...
Is there any way to disable gallery 3d from displaying my Picassa pictures?
Thanks in advance.

I know you're asking about Picasa sync issues, I don't know if they are saved on your sdcard but this may help:
Drop a .nomedia file in a folder and all media files become invisible to the gallery..
A .nomedia file is just an empty text file saved with no name and the extension .nomedia
You can make the file yourself, or just copy one of the many that are already on your card and paste the copy in whatever folder you want hidden from the gallery.
There was a bug last year that caused previously indexed media to be deleted if they were subsequently hidden. I'm pretty certain it's been fixed but you might want to test on a file you don't mind losing before you wipe out your entire porn collection
edit: I'm running CM7rc0 and it appears the bug has been fixed. It's an old bug, I would guess late versions of 2.2 are fixed also. I just tried this on some junk files, rebooted and they are still on my card but not in my gallery

Amazing. Exactly what I needed. I never even thought to look there.
Thanks a lot!

My gallery worked fine when I had CM6 on my G2.
I have tried CM7 RC1, #7, and #32 or something like that and my gallery doesn't work for any of them.
By doesn't work I mean it fails to scan for media, and there are no photos in the gallery.
I have tried all the media scanners and rescanners on the Market, but they all stop scanning after 1 second, and does not do anything.
Also, when I browse for a picture via file manager and click on it, it takes forever to load, but when it does load, it first shows this weird wallpaper that is from the Cyanogen wallpaper pack for a brief half second then shows the picture i clicked on.
I don't know what's going on. This has been driving me INSANE. All I want to do is just to be able to set my wallpapers. I don't know how to do it without gallery.
Any help at all?
Thanks!
EDIT: "Are you certain that you don't have a file named ".nomedia" (the "." at the start makes it a HIDDEN file) in the directories with the media to scan?"
Yes I am certain I don't have that .nomedia in the directories of my photos.
EDIT EDIT: There was a .nomedia in the root directory of my sdcard so that is why it won't scan ANY folders. Thanks!

mate, I use 3D Gallery instead of the stock. not only will it scan and place in folders, it'll also pull your online Picasa pics. i used it on my stock Froyo (even though froyo uses a different version.. I found 3d gallery was actually the stock Eclair gallery) and I use it now on my CM7 Desire nightly (bravo11). works like a charm.
I use the one that came with ROM. Works great.

The one that came with the wrong doesn't work. And the 3D gallery doesn't work either. It says There are no items in your collection.
Reflash the nightly build. what build are you on?

I reflashed like 4 different ones. right now i'm back to RC1.
Thats weird. Perhaps something didnt wipe right?
Try QuickPic in the market. I use it alot now.
I wipe dalvic cache and perform a factory reset via CWM 3.0 each time i flash.
Quickpic says pictures not found. Is your SDcard mounted? And that made me think. Could it be something wrong with my SDcard? I mean, I can access stuff in it via Root Explorer...

THERE WAS A MOTHER FKING .nomedia not in my pictures folder, BUT ON MY SD CARD ITSELF! WDFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
Now I know a good way to prank my friends! Thanks for all your help, guys!
Ok so I just bought the evo shift from sprint and its been working great. I have over 500 songs and lots of pictures et cetera and I've been playing them all the time. This morning however I tried to play some music and it says music not found. Same thing with pics and vids. Apps saved on the card are fine. If I use astro and select a pic or mp3 it will open and play. Just not from any music players or photo viewers. Any ideas?
Edit: also a new development. I forgot to mention that I have clockwork mod recovery installed. And it won't let me turn my phone off. I power off and it automatically boots to recovery. Quite irritating.
Also I should probably mention that I am running my shift stock. No custom roms. Only thing I've done is root it using amoamares gui root method and the only root app I have is cache cleaner ng.
1. Not sure about your music.
2. That is a known issue with the recovery.
Ah I see I well I guess ill try getting rid of the recovery and go from there.

You might try copying them to your computer, making a new music folder on the sd card and moving them back.
Try moving your pics to the download folder and see if they show up.
What device are you coming from?

You don't have .nomedia files in those folders do you? Just throwing out possibilities.

After a little file snooping I discovered a .nomedia file on the root of my SD card ;p problem solved lol . Thanks for the help. Also in regards to my other problem - the forced recovery menu - anybody know if there is another safe recovery I can use?

Hey guys, just got a quick question that may be simple but its stumping me. I find myself downloading music off of g-tunes a ton. Love the app its great but I always find myself plugging my phone into the computer and dragging the files to my SD card. Which works just fine but it gets real annoying. Is there a way that whenever I download music it will go to SD card by default? That would be very useful to me if so. Thanks in advance for your responses.
