where is the 3gmobile hotspot file located in a rom? and what is the name of the file? I deleted the file and now I want to restore it lol.
It's called mynet.apk and it is found in /system/app.
OK found a copy of the file after I unzipped the rom, but it gives a "failed to install" error...
would be nice if that was a bit more informative... anyone know how I might get this back on my phone?

I understand that I can copy file from SD Card to phone directory with Astro File Manager but I have downloaded Version 2.5.2 which comes with ads and there is no option which I can enable the permission to copy file to phone directory.
Can anyone advise me whether what file manager can perform this function as I tried to find Astro Pro in the Android Market but cannot find.
Please advise me, thanks.
Say I like the icons on one CM9 ROM and want to use them on another, any way I could locate them and save them to the SD? If so where are they located? I've been looking through my root files, and haven't found them. Thanks.
One way to retrieve the icon, is to pull the apk for which ever program icon you want and using 7-Zip (or zip program of your choice, to open apk in another zip program you must rename from .apk to .zip. 7-zip automatically recognizes apk files as an archive, which is nice. ) , open the apk and look in /res/drawable-mdpi and find the icon and copy it to your device.

Thank you very much.
I've installed cm9 but it doesn't come with any file explorer.
I don't have any internet access on my phone right now so I can't download from market, but I have to restore the apps using titanium backup.
So I need a flashable zip with a file explorer that works on cm9 to install TitaniumB from my sdcard
you should have copied a file manager apk to the app folder in the rom archive before flashing :|
No need to flash, u can use adb shell to install the app.
adb install filemanager_name.apk
EDIT:
Success !
Thanks

The easy way is to put the apk file in the same folder with adb command
or indicate the path to this apk (e.g. adb install /documents/android_apps/filemanager.apk)
the best way is to go in browser and type file:///sdcard/file_managername.apk
to the app folder in the rom archive before
flashing :|
I don't know if it's just me or not. When trying to copy a custom bootanimation.zip to system/media after upgrading to cyanogenmod 10.2, file manager asks to confirm the overwrite, and after clicking overwrite I get an error, "The file or folder was not found." After the error I try going back to storage/emulated and file manager doesn't show anything below emulated. I have to restart the app to see the files and folders below emulated. I am sure the file structure is okay because I can connect it to my pc and browse and manage the files.

Latest root method in Android 4.3 no longer work on /storage/emulated/0/, try use /storage/emulated/legacy to copy your file.
You get used to doing something one way ...

Thanks, that did it.
On a rooted phone, when i try to copy specific apk files to system partition, app or priv-app, it fails with error "copy failed" in root explorer, some other explorer states insufficient space, etc.
Does anyone know why this is happening and why the ROM is blocking the copy? Is there mechanism that is blocking the copy or move? Is there a way to copy it.
Strangely even recovery flashing though successful truncates the file, for e.g. a 14mb file shows up as 13mb and is corrupt and of no use.
Also tried skipping signature check by modding services.jar but no luck. ...inputs would be greatly appreciated
