Hi.
Is there any way to install an app (apk file) from PC to the phone ?
I can't install app by the phone directly.
Thanks .
Yes, DroidExplorer or via HTC Sync.
Or through android market on your pc.

True, although strictly it still downloads the apk from the Market and doesn't install an apk that you already have saved to your pc
@mattfmartin, do you happen to know where the data for this download would be charged to, ie would it come off of your pc bandwidth or against the phones data bundle? I was just wondering that and as data costs are pretty expensive here in SA it would be really useful to know?
Look into using the adb on the Android sdk. Simply put is adb push insertnamehere very simple

Thanks did know that. WiFi is also not that prevalent here (starting to pick up though), but I guess I do need to set up a home wifi network sometime though LOL.

Hi all,
My KF has been rooted and it has Go Launcher on it. However I can't open pdf file even it recognizes the file (the adobe acrobat icon next to the file name). Whenever I try to open the file, there's always a pop-up screen asking me to register to Amazon (I already created an account before but no matter how arduous I try, I'm not able to log in). Please advise

thanks for the suggestion, but I would like to use KF's native pdf reader instead of using another app.

Well, If you do not want to take someones advice why ask for help?
only way you are going to use the kindles native reader is f you install all of the amazon system apps and have the core libraries functioning.... which can be done with careful mod work on cm7 but isnt worthwhile imho.

Thanks for your explanation, I guess I don't have other choices beside installing another pdf reader app then.
Has anyone ever tried to make ROM2SD work for this device so we can just get a nice SD card and use that for the entire devices roms and such? I'm not a programer and don't know if this is possible or even a good idea but thought I would ask as Google and XDA searches don't turn up any results.
Thanks in advance for all the information you can share about this idea.

Can anyone suggest an app that will allow me to copy my SD data from my old phone onto the Essential over the air? I thought Google's File Go would work, but it seems to restrict which files I can transfer directly, phone to phone. i need access to files beyond the 6 categories File Go offers. I'd like to stay away from any kind of wiring or PC use. Thanks.
Dropbox seems to be a solution. I still would appreciate additional input. Thanks.

You can take an ADB backup... Which should copy everything on device to computer...
If you are rooted... You can do it via wireless ADB

I'm using an app called HandShaker...work fine for me...
X-plore file explorer will transfer over wifi sharing.
You might want to check into an app called superbeam. It uses wifi to transfer as well and you can use it afterward to transfer files from your PC to your phone and from your phone to PC.
