I agree. I'm very curious of how it'll run with its 192MB RAM. Veryyy interesting.
To think I just sold mine for a G2.

How did you even manage that?.... Didn't read?
Does this mean we will lose root? I love all the options and features of root but it would be nice to have a solid froyo rom.
nevermind. i think i have to unroot before i can do the update.

lol, I just nandroided back to CM6 this morning.
How do you guys think FroYo will run on the MT3G? I predict not well! I'm almost thinking I'd rather stay rooted on Donut or CM6 so I can at least overclock it.
Too bad I've got the 1.2.

CM6 = Froyo and it flys and works great. Why wouldn't the tmo froyo release run well? And what rom were you using that you had to nandroid to CM6? I'm confused by your post.

I predict we won't get the OTA update if we're rooted, and if we are it will most likely wipe out root access. I'm gonna need to reinstall that stupid amazonmp3 apk and unroot so I can get this stupid update.
If I don't like it I'm gonna SAPPIMG.nbh back to 1.5 so I can use flashrec to get amon_ra back and then nandroid back to 1.6.
Jebus, I feel like I'm speaking in tongues, lol.

most ROMs disable OTA updates.
and no way would I revert back to stock until it's confirmed that the official 2.2 doesn't somehow break root access.
Give the Devs until Thursday. and they will have the OTA with root to flash on our phones (if you want it). I, personally, won't go back to stock after tasting CM goodness!
Does anyone know where I can get the nbh file , and radio link to unroot? I have tried all the links on this site and none works anymore!

No radio update needed, the nbh file will take care of all of that.
Just copy this to the root of your SD card, boot into the bootloader (vol down + power), hit apply update and let it do it's thing.
DON'T restore anything through TiBa or mybackup until AFTER you've received the ota update. Should take about a day or two of the phone being on and connected to 3G.

The MT3G just doesn't have enough ram to support an OS this large. CM6 is good but still way slower than oem 1.6 w/androot and overclock.
I rooted a few months back by using sappimg and flashrec, then installed CM5 with mediocre results. I got sick of the instability and unrooted. Then I rooted the stock 1.6 w/universal androot, overclocked it, and left it alone for a while.
A week or so ago I backed up my oem 1.6 w/root, then I flashed CM6. 3 or 4 days ago I backed up my CM6 and went back to my nandroid of oem1.6 w/root. This time I ditched CM due to crazy bad battery life and the phone running way hot. I suspected it would have done better with compcache disable but I got sick of screwing with it.
This morning I nandroided back to CM6 to screw around with it some more, (wanted to disable compcache and give it another shot) but just now I'm going back to the oem donut again because froyo is inherently slow on a phone with this little ram, although disabling compcache helped a bit. Also the gallery is too slow to use.
Does that make more sense? Basically I'm indecisive and keep switching back and forth, lol.
Apparently Sprint is pushing out a new update for all HTC EVO users.
3.30.651.3 FOTA update.
So check if you guys have it and see if anything changes.
Good luck
Waiting for someone else to be the guinea pig and see if unrEVOked works after installation.

No, it appears that this is only available for users who have software version of 3.30.651.2
"Note: This update is only for newer devices with initial software version of 3.30.651.2. If you are running a different version than this, you will not receive this update and do not need it.
This update fixes power cycling issue when accessing the camera through some applications, like Qik, on devices running version 3.30.651.2 only."

I downloaded it a while ago. It's 6MB and when I installed it, I got the ! With the triangle. So I reported and never updated it. I'm using Unrevoked with Azrael 2.3 ROM.
So no update for me. Even though it still asks me to install it, I won't.

When the last OTA update hit I was unable to install over the air it until I replaced clockworkmod with the stock recovery. Maybe the same thing is occurring here?
it is just a patch 6.4Mb and the download link can be found in a logcat

Does it still have HBOOT 2.02?
I'll root it and post it when I get home from work in 4 hours.
if you're getting this update it sounds like you already have a newer evo that is a bit more difficult to root anyhow. unrevoked doesn't work on the phones that seem to be getting this update to begin with, i doubt it will break root any harder honestly.
i'm installing it, my phone reboots when running qik and i can't get root from unrevoked as it is.
i got notified by my evo today about the update, i chose against installing it too.
i installed 3.29 ota, rooted via unrevoked then used the update zip to get to 3.30 even though apparently we should not have been doing so.
update works great, qik now works, and the flashlight toggle on my toggles widget no longer reboots the phone either.
Same here tried update , Running clockwork and I have Azreal 2.41 running. After reboot Triangle.
Cold boot back and update failed.
Maybe someone would be so kind as to post this in a ZIP.
Thanks
Gin.

Froyo Update
My Intercept updated to Android Froyo 2.2 this morning!
Guys, there's a ton of talk that the Froyo update bricked half the phones that did it. Happened to my sister's phone this morning. It installs, then gives you the triangle with the exclamation mark. When you reboot, it freezes after the Samsung animation.
No problems here....wife's intercept.......good to go.....noticeably faster...home and back button work fine now. Good stuff

My sister updated hers this morning....nothing like a full upgrade OTA!!! looks great, went smoothly BTW, just so there's no confusion, updating formats your internal storage....back up all your data first!!! You'll lose messages, apps, games, contacts, settings, etc.
Update was pushed to me, I tried it it failed because I have inxane's custom recovery installing so I need to find a download of the rom or wait for ubuntdroid to come up with a 2.2 release

Here you go. Not sure if it's 2.1 or 2.2, either way I'm using it unbrick my sister's because the OTA has a 50/50 chance of working. Also the stock kernel is here:

Bricked my wife's phone this morning. Took it into the store and they replaced the phone. Updated the new phone without a problem. Phone is way better than it was before IMHO.
Got it this morning, installed cleanly. Spent all day trying to root it. Tried SuperOneClick, Z4, and Rage Against the Cage. Anyone successfully root the Sprint Intercept on 2.1? Thanks.

Z4 won't root for me on 2.2 either
I had tried Universal Androot as well. I haven't heard to many people talking about finding a root that work. YouTube hasn't been much help either.
see here for rooting 2.2

Thanks, I finally got SuperOneClick to work with Froyo.
I managed to unbrick my sister's Intercept and then upgrade it to 2.2. Super easy and no rooting required.
Samsung really has to get their act together. Did you guys see this?

Ironically people complain about Samsung being slow to update their phones but I wouldn't want them to release a version that bricks the phone instead.

They have done exactly that, though almost half the intercepts updated have bricked during the process lol
Is the 2.2 update only for Intercepts on Sprints service, or does it include those under VM as well?
I would like to install the TouchWiz / Samsung Visual Voicemail app now that I'm on froyo 2.2 DL30, but I can't get it to install. I tried pushing it to the /system/app/ and tried install through Rom Manager (one of the developers has a dl for stock VVM, and this worked for the 2.1 roms. I also tried pulling the 2 apks and 2 odexs out of a few system dumps. No dice. Also Titanuim seems to only do a "no data" backup of these when they were installed on 2.1. I was able to dl and install the verizon version from the market, but prefer the samsung one. Anyone know a fix, or is there not a 2.2 version of that app out yet? Any help is appreciated.
BTW Very excited to be playing with Froyo. I'm sure this will all be cleared up when more leaks or official ver is out.
waiting for the 2.2 blackhode rom
it should be up in rom manager soon
that;s where the options to install app were with 2.1
Google Voice is a great alternative to those (and free) if you havent tried it yet.

yeah but I suspect that maybe there is no .apk for 2.2 with the froyo leak and am also trying to confirm that it isn't somewhere else or that there's a way to get the 2.1 version to work with the dl30 leak
So picked up a G2 from a guy on craigslist. Everything works fine except the camera app crashes everytime and I have to force close it. The dedicated camera button does nothing at all. Have tried doing a factory reset and no luck.
Any ideas for options? I am pretty sure the warranty is not in play as I am the second(third /fourth) owner.
thanks in advance

Are you willing to root the phone and try custom rom?
Otherwise you can try to search for another camera in market, to see if it works.
I'm guessing this a sense Rom you're using and since its android version 2.2, the camera will not work. This is because sense is closed source and it would mean virtually rewriting much of sense in order to get it to work. Since you're running 2.2 you must also be rooted so why not try out a custom 2.1 sense rom, they have a working camera. I suggest villain rom 13.

Ah, I see, he has 2.2, while 2.1 is the last official version from HTC. In that case I can reccomend latest FroydVillain release.
I am using CM7 nightlies, but they are not as stable and have some annoying problems.
