Anybody download the Adobe Reader off of the Marketplace and if so does it work? Mine downloaded and installed fine but it won't read an Adobe File.

I had no problem with it. Works fine. Possibly a corrupt file?
Tnx Robert,
I will delete the file and reload it tonight and try it again.

Don't have troubles downloading apps from market or staying synced but for some reason it doesn't like downloading through the browser. Says unsuccessful download, file format incompatible with your device, anyone else have this?
Or know of how to fix? Not sure if its sd card issue or what.

Download astro file manager from the market, and there is a setting in it to fix that. Though read the warning about reading PDF's in Gmail.
I used to have Astro manager but had uninstalled it because I preferred another one but I reinstalled it and didn't change any settings and now it works, thanks!
I did see the option of using the downloader inside Astro and the warning to shut it off when opening attachments from gmail, never noticed that before.
But nice catch and thanks again.
Try a different browser. I have to use Dolphin to get some things to download correctly. Hope this helps.

Same problem here, still looking for an answer.
I never had this problem. In fact, the file that i download using stock browser shows up under the downloads app. What type of file are you downloading?

If it helps, I'm not having this problem at all with Dolphin HD or the stock browser. Let me know if you want to compare stuff (settings, configs, apps, etc.)...?
I haven't tried this on the Acer, but I had the same problem with my Droid x at first.
Go to the market and download "Download All Files". On the Droid, this is a browser addon for stock. Try to install it, launch it, then try the browser again. You might have to kill the process first aafter installing it.
I'm going to test it now for myself.
Download problems
Do you have 'Unknown Sources' checked in Settings-Applications? If not, you won't be able to do it.

I had the same problems, since then for downloads I am using Opera Mini and for normal browsing Dolphin HD.
Ok I have tried to open some pdf files downloaded and it is not working out. I have tried reading them out of sd and nook memory and I get can't open file. I tried some other apps for pdf and still had problems. One error message referenced java problems. I have a web site I can go to to view the pdfs on line and I can't view them either. I am using CM7 stable build. HELP!!
Have you tried ezPDF Reader?
It is a paid app, but it works pretty good.
If you look for it on the web, you may be able to find some older version and try it first.
Good luck.
hi,
i'm not experienced enough to post in the holy dev-forums, so i put my question here.
current rom in use: ER3BUS XL3.5 [GB 2.3.5][Sense 3.5][Runnymede 1.22.461.2]
issue: everytime trying to open the adobe reader, oder a pdf file it shows the error-message "process canceled, please try again" (or something similar, the message is in german )
via market i can only open adobe reader, but i can't deinstall it, or reinstall or something else.
even restart of the phone didn't help...
does anyone have an idea? i like this rom very much, great job! =)
Download market apk from the internet. Google Android market 3.4.4 apk download. Once done install it. It will ask you to replace system app. Do it. After you're done open settings-applications and find market. Clear cache. Do the same for Adobe Reader. Open market and search for adobe reader. It should be able to find an update.

thanks for your advice - in general it helped me, but finally i used titanium backup to delete adobe reader completely.
i followed exactly your steps, but i didn't help - so titanium backup came back to my mind
after that reinstallation of adobe reader from market.... and it works!
thank YOU for triggering my brain, and also thanks to titanium backup
Yeah titanium works too lol. I don't know how it didn't occur to me. Glad all works now.

Try android commander...duering install process you have choice wether to install to regular instalation (android is choosing right way...if U have ext, it will installed on ext-partition)...also U can choose to install to system/app...permissions will be detected and setted.
Did you try putting it in /system/app with the correct permissions?

Any way this version can be installed without rooting? Basically would like to have the newer version of Youtube (like the one on ICS) on Gingerbread. Thanks.

No. Unless google releases a signed .apk of the new youtube.
Here is Youtube 3.5.5:

Parsing error usually just means the file is broken, either A: redownload and recopy, or B: recopy the file.
When i get parsing errors, i just plug my SD card into my laptop via an adapter not the USB Mass storage option. I noticed, while using ubuntu, that things are still happening with the drive and if you unplug it without safely removing it you will get broken files.

Thanks im trying it now report back later if it works
Oh and for the other guy, youtube is not a system app. However it may be placed in system by ROM chefs.
Okay, this still doesnt work, gives parsing error, where are you obtaining this APK from???
OK last edit, after flashing ICS, works without a problem. So its the fact were trying to put it on GB that is failing. Its prolly gonna take some serious editing for it to work on GB
