[Q] Bootloader screen help - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get the bootloader screen to come up on my MT4G. I hold down power and volume down for over a minute and the screen stays black. When I release, the phone instantly turns on.
I am just trying to check to see if i get s=off.

Please post questions in Q&A section.

Touch won't turn on - fixed.

I already fixed this, posting it in case it helps someone else (or I forget next time it happens).
Short version: If your touch won't turn on, check if any of the other buttons are stuck down.
My touch just wouldn't turn on. I tried pulling the battery. Tried all the possible startup buttons like going into the bootloader. Nothing.
It would charge through USB, but that was it. Power button seemed broken.
It was the volume slider. I've had issues with the volume randomly turning itself down. The volume slider is starting to die. And apparently if the volume switch is in just the wrong place, the phone will refuse to turn on. Moving the volume slider up and down then trying to turn it on again fixed it.
Maybe this will help someone else.
glad to hear it but next time you can just update your other thread

Unspecified Problems?

Okay, because I don't have 10 posts I can't post in the Android Development section yet. Okay, I've have blnkks (sp?) ICS rom for about a week now. Today I was using the Kindle in study hall at school, playing glow hockey. I locked the screen, cleaned it because it was full of fingerprints, and then unlocked it. After I unlocked it, the screen went weird. Every time I press the power button, nothing happens. The screen isn't fully off, because I can see a faint purpleish tone, which tells me the screen it on. It's not bricked, because it didn't freeze in a boot cycle. Any idea? I have TWRP 2.0 and I do have a recent backup, if need be.
Have you tried holding the button down for >20 seconds? Eventually it should turn off if you do that. Then hit the power button again and it should start up normally.

I feel really stupid. I held it down for about 30 seconds and it finally turned off. It turned on with no problem. Before I was only holding it for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help

[Q] Kindle Fire wont turn on after flashing Energy ROM 3.15

The title says it all. I did a back up and flashed the rom. It worked well after the first boot but the Google apps was FC so I reboot to flash the gapps file. However, after shut down the kindle it just wont turn on. When I press the power button the green light appears for 3 seconds and it off again. What can I do ?
Edit: Now when I press the power button nothing happen :|
maybe charging it with the wall charger for some hours ...
Try holding down in the power button for like 20 seconds them turn on

I had this issue and thought I toasted it, negative.
Check to see if screen is still lit, if so tap power, screen should turn off. Wait about a minute then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
By that time should still be off, then after you let it go tap the power and should boot right up.
Not sure whats causing this but a minor glitch in the matrix, no biggie. Still very much useable after install of gapps.

Thanks I was able to turn it back one after a few tries
It seems this rom doesn't actually shut down. When I select the shutdown option the back light remains on and I have to force it off with the 20 button press.

Black Screen, 5 vibrates, and LED lights on

This phone just broke after 3 months of use. Since I brought it off of amazon as unlocked, I do not have warranty on phone. The phone was not dropped nor water-damaged. It was sitting on the table and suddenly experiencing problems with lag. I proceed to turn off and try to restart phone.
The phone does not boot when I press the power button.
What I've tried:
case 1: I removed SD card, removed battery and removed USB cord. Press power button for 10 seconds. Put back battery and press power button
result 1: LED light on. The phone vibrates 5 times. Remains in black screen
case 2: I called my phone number from another phone
result 2: Straight to voice mail. This indicates the software did not even boot up. Hardware display is not the issue here. Most likely a Software issue.
case 3: I hold volume down key and power key to attempt hard-reset
result 3: LED light on. The phone vibrates 5 times. Remains in black screen
Since I routinely backed up my phone data. Last time I've checked (~4 days ago), the SD card was not nearly full. It was approximately 25% used space.
PLEASE HELP!! YOUR HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED!
Are you able to access any of the service menu's such as bootloader or fastboot mode?
If your not aware what those are, there are many references in this forum for you to find information.

No. The screen was all black. But fortunately, the phone was able to turn on after some trial and error.
You remove the battery and USB cord. Then while pressing (and holding) the home button key, you put back in the battery and press the power button. To hard reset, you must press volume down key, home key, and power key at the same time.
Glad that you got your phone working!
Mine continues to remain dead
I had this problem a few months back at first i too thought the phone was dead - but it did make boot vibration noise - but the screen would always remain "black" but after some time and after going into a very dark room i was able to see that the screen was not black, but that the backlight went out on it -- after having my screen replaced the phone now works fine - think i was using cm7 at the time.. hope this might help
Thanks for this tip! I'll check on the phone I had as well. I got to get it back from my buddy.

Phone turns on then off

I have the ATT S4.
I used the twrp app to flash a new recovery on my phone. I downloaded the jflteatt and flashed it through the app. Worked all day til the evening that i needed to reboot it. It won't boot up anymore.
I take the battery out, and put it in and then galaxy s4 splash screen comes up. but goes away quickly. I take the battery out again, and put it back in holding volume down, it brings up a screen saying "do you want to install custom OS?" "press volume up for yes, or volume down for no" but quickly the screen goes black again and i can't do anything, even if i try and press for yes.
I take the battery out, and put it back in holding the volume up button. I boots up to the galaxy s4 splash screen with "booting into recovery" in blue letters at the top left part of the screen, then the screen quickly goes black again and i it doesn't do anything.
Is there anything else I can do?
thanks for any help

Unless you can get it to stay in download mode, no. Does it show a charging battery if you plug it in?
