Hi guys
we knows that we have to but our headset to run the Radio because it is working as antenna! but if we have a good signal we dont require headset can some one make it working without a headset?
How you come to the conclusion it will work without antenna?
Haha lol. You want the impossible. Maybe you could also find a developer to transform your mobile into an airplane our something like that.

take your home radio. cut the antenna. do you think you will get ANY reception? the error in your thought is that you obviously think that the headset cable is just to improve reception and that the phone's internal antenna is also for radio reception but you are wrong. it won't work!
the solution is an internet radio app
It works instead! I tried it with a single connector without any cable on it and it worked. Don't know though if you could bypass that problem by software programming or if you need to do some hardware modification

Yes, of course, I can easily remove antennaz in many radios at home ( unscrew the antenna) and that work nice, even if there is more noise

A question can be asked two ways, so always back your end up with facts.
As for the OP, its a legitimate question, one that needs some baksmali/smali edits to the radio app in order to make it think the head phone is connected.
Lol
at leats some one understand me
thankx ''profete162 '' and ''Daneshm90 ''
so any idea from where i can change the values so i can run radio without headset even with noise at least it will work
i am noob in programming
On my old Sony Ericsson K800i, with a patch applied to remove the headset requirement, the radio would work absolutely fine when the headset connector was held in the vicinity of a large metal object (didn't have to be touching), so there is every chance this could work.

Good News
i hope someone can do it
Up....
need someone to make patch to able the radio in SGS work without headset.
it will work without anntena, signal should be good enough. btw its basic physics, a antenna like the headphone will give u max 3 dBi , which is not that much (Google dipole anntena) compared to the signallevels u normally encounter.

Guess I must be missing something, but I can't see what all the A2DP dramas are about.
I have a new Jasjam and BlueAnt X5 stereo bluetooth headset and I got the skiping problem the first time I tried it. I soon discovered switching off WiFi completely fixed this and then I read about the reg hack to get stereo working.
Now my setup works perfectly.
Is there something wrong with me?
No, join the club. Worked right out of the box for me too.

"Completely"? How? Just keep it off in Connection Manager? Or something else/more? I've never used WiFi on my JASJAM and I still have skipping, even with the WIDCOMM stack.
Its all headset based. I'll add the ?BlueAnt X5 to the rather short list that works out of the box. The other ones I know of are the Nokia HS012W and the I-tech clips.

Shame. Looks like I need to find a replacement for my SE HBH-DS970.
Where can I find your list? Is it "Internal Use Only. For Sleuth255's eyes only." ?

Ahh, no there was meant to be a comma in there... switching off WiFi, (comma) completely fixed it.
Yes just in Comm Manager.
Thanks esseff. What excitement a single comma can cause . . .
I guess I'll wait for AKU3.3 before deciding for a replacement for the DS970.
I can also confirm that the Nokia HS-12W works right out of the box.

I don't have any problems with my I-Tech R35, but there are reports from other people who do. I always try to keep the number of simultaneous tasks down to a minimum, and close apps as I go along. Being tidy, and not loading the device, I intuitively believe helps reduce problems.
I don't think it's quite as simple as just being a headset problem, although it's certainly a contributory factor (another is definitely the distance - inversely proportional to distance squared - the headset unit is from the phone unit when using a2dp over bluetooth).
Hi all
Does anyone know of a tweak to allow radio to be played without inserting a wired headset, I often listen to music via bluetooth and would like the option of radio as well, thanks in advance.
By the way, I did search the forum before posting this as I know you guys have certain protocols in place.
Cheers.
try this and see if it works
Change the following registry : HKLM\System\State\Hardware\Headset from 0 to 1
hi, thanks for the reply.
I don't have my headset with me today but after I changed the reg the radio still would not play directly through the phone, what exactly should this reg edit do?
it should make the phone think that a headset is plugged in..havent tested it myself to be honest but it should work..however whether or not you will have a signal from the radio is another story
Dude, ther is no use for this... Even if you would get the device to start the radio without the headset pluged in, there would be no sound since the headset is the antenna...
So it would be like you are watching tv without cable... no reception!
There must be at least something in the mini usb plug. I found that it works at least a little bit when plugging in this thing only and playing the sound over the internal speaker though reception is poor at best.

Good luck!
There is some use to it... although the wire is the antenna the phone will act as an antenna also so you will recieve some signal it just won't be as strong.
Without fully testing there is no way of telling how good the signal would be, surely a phone that can pick up a GPS signal and a mobile signal should be capable of also picking up a radio frequency?
no, its not possible:

ok, I get the message. Thanks for all your help.
OT - I searched "Radio without Headset" accross this forum and had no hits.
I noticed that innocent people get shot down when they don't search before posting a question, how are they supposed to get decent results with a search engine that doesn't work properly. - Great site guys, the people here really know there stuff but perhaps go a little easier on people who search to no avail before posting. You don't have to reply to the post and if you do wouldn't it be best to simply give the answer or direct them to another post, up to you but it doesn't help anyone to just put - SEARCH THE FORUM or RTFM (a new one on me!)
Hope you see the point of this post, I am simply giving my opinion as an outsider who has just purchased a Diamond and I'm just getting into mods and tweaks!
p.s. Loving the GPS cycle computer. Best app by far!
GSM is in a very much higher frequency band, so it uses a very much smaller antenna than you would need for your radio. This is two very different systems. It will not work without an antenna
hi all
I've heard that Leo can play FM Radio without headphone work as an antenna? I wonder at it?
Is there anyone can confirm that....
Thanks!
Negative m8, Leo's FM Radio needs enclosed earphones handset to operate as an antenna.
I would love the day the manufacturers could put in a antenna to allow use of the FM radio without putting in a headset.
I hate using a wired headset.
Try one of these, no need for headphones and a bit cheaper!

Mind you they are getting bigger, so one day you could have a £500 fm radio with built in antenna.

i dont think its as easy as just putting radio antennas inside a body of a phone.
one might have to think about interference to/from the phone antenna, wifi antenna, bluetooth antenna, gps antenna and any other antennas already present in the phone.
I don't think it's even physically possible to make an antenna small enough to fit in a phone which is sensitive enough to receive low-frequency signals like radio.

Mmm..I dont know how to say but I just heard that from someone. They said Leo could play FM Radio without headphone in new coming Rom update. Any Mods here knows it?
It is not a bad ROM, it is because of radio-frequencies all need antennas that fit their special wavelength to work.
If you use radiowaves you can use antennas that are only half or a quarter of the wavelength, so 10cm waves need 2,5 cm or 5 cm antennas.
Radiowaves in FM are about 4 m wavelength, so you need 1 m antenna!

The FM Radio tool from the HTC Debug Tools (On the prototype phones) does work without earphones.
Also tried the tool in my release phone, als also there the fm radio worked without earphones....
just a few more months and the Sony Ericsson MW600 headset will be availlable with build in FM radio.. I have a SE HBH-DS220 at the moment and it works great sound is awesome..
I wish we could enable audioboost with A2DP

i don't bother the built-in FM radio. Try use WunderRadio. Internet-based radio. Of course you need unlimited data plan for this to work.
Some walkman phones have built in fm antennas like w960, and some cheap chinese phones too, i don't remembor which one though, i read their test on mobilearena long time ago, so if it is possible.

That's great, except when you are on the move and lose data coverage which is exactly what makes the FM radio useful.
I just had the july 8 nrg rom in and the fm tuner would open & receive a few channels with NO wired headset plugged in & played it though the speaker..
I want to know if the fm tuner capabilities are based on the rom in general or a specific "fm tuner driver"
Currently on kumars 2.4.1 and of course the fm wont open without a wired headset plugged in : (
My G2 broadcasts signal on 98,3MHz (or 98,25MHz, it depends on radio) - it's silent mono signal. It's not connected with CPU speed - the same radio frequency on both 804 and 1017MHz CPU speeds.
Has anyone else the same thing happening? You can check it by choosing 98,3MHz in phone's FM radio (should be silent) or putting phone very near to some other radio set to 98,3MHz.
Maybe there is some way to put some sound to this signal and make FM transmitter?
The truth is out there. I want to believe.
GSM radio going off?
Spec says fm transceiver. No one really knew if it had an antenna tho... I guess this answers that... now we just need software to control it

If that thing I found is really FM transmitter, not some noise, it has no antenna. To receive it on any other radio you nearly have to touch phone to radio's antenna.
Have you tried it with the headphones plugged in? The cord usually works as an antenna.

You are right - headphones act as antenna in this case too.
It's still very weak signal, but stronger with headphones connected.
If you perma root and install the desire z rrom from the forum you will have fm radio and yes it uses what ever is in the head phone jack as the antena .

It's not what we're talking about here.
We're talking about phone transmitting something that you can receive by other radios.
Is anyone's phone acting as mine? Can somebody check if it's transmitting something on any frequency?
I'll look at it on a network analyzer today and get back...
This may be a clue! (I'm pretty ignorant about this type of technology but when I read this it made me think about this thread)
Another tidbit that leaked out was that this phone had near field communications capabilities, meaning you could potentially replace your credit cards (something one of our trusted sources tells us Google was looking to do with these next couple of iterations of Android.) The phone he was holding was running on T-Mobile’s network, as well, lining up perfectly with what we learned from Best Buy’s blunder earlier last week. Score!

Sorry Agent Mulder, better luck next time.
Put my phone up to my o-scope to check this out. The 'silence' you are 'hearing' is a 12.5% duty cycle square at -40dB. Adjusting clock speed affects both the fundamental and duty cycle. Conclusion:You are picking up fundamentals of the CPU PLL for clock speed generation. Sorry, your phone is not intentionally transmitting anything, much like the noise you hear when your phone is transmitting GPRS packets next to a poorly shielded speaker amp.
I have searched the Desire hd section for any Bluetooth problems, but seems that im the only one with a problem????!!!
My Bluetooth conectivty SUCKS with any headsets!
i have tried 4 diffrent headsets! and all "god" ones.
But i get the same result, as soon as i move i get lots of bad sound (Donw know how to explane, but like a Tv sound without a signal)
and i have to have the phone at a maximum of 5-10 cm so i can get a "good" listning sound.
The person who talkes with me have no problems.
I tested with 3 diffrent Nokia BT
one of them is bh-606
Jabra Bt as well.
I have the latest firmware. But lots of apps in my phone? can that cause a problem?
Try settings/energy saving function/ deactivate bluetooth. (Turn off)

Hmm Thanks but that only says that it will close Bt connection while there are no calls active?!
I can alsaw add that my Wifi Connection sucks aswell. tried it with 3 routers. and if im not in the same room so the connection is not even detected! But if im in the same room i came upp to 18 mb download with a speed test app. So the Range seems to be a problem both for the BT and Wifi.

Plz Any help here?
Need to use BT units while driving + at work and i cant!
Edit:
i did a little test today with a Stereo Bt unit!
then bt connection works well!
so it seems that the problem is a software issue and its only with mono bt units!!!
Yet a nother sieries of tests!
I have now concloded that its the Mono Bt units i have problems with, and that its a software issue!
I used the BT in my car, and the sound works without any problems..
And i tested with a Nokia Stereo Bt, and same there, even upp to 10 m i have a clear sound..
SO it seems to be only with regular mono Bt units i have this problem!
Any tips?
