Every time I try to switch plane mode / flight mode ON, I get an error first ( phone process or sth has to close ) and then it works.
Is there any way to make it work without errors or should I use that "APN ON / OFF " widget?
I am unable to access Zinio, hence my magazines are unreadable in flight.

My problem is the ERROR, plane mode works after the error, but it takes like 1 minute to switch to plane mode. When I switch back to normal mode I don't get any errors...weird really..maybe some app is causing that, don't know..
Anybody with a stock euro firmware? It seems this problem's gone after flashing the latest firmware.
I have stock Euro firmware, and experience the same issue. Phone app is force-closed when entering Flight mode.
I haven't tried flashing new firmware, it's rather a drastic step to fix a pretty minor issue.
Finally...now we are 3..I found one more guy in another forum.
I wonder what causes it though...yeah I haven't updated the firmware yet, as it's the only issue I have, really, but still it is a bit annoying.

I know that this has been an issue addressed in the past, but has anyone found a solution for the Wifi toggle error that has appeared when using the Samsung Epic stock froyo OS EB05. When I try to turn on my Wifi, about 75% of the time it will stall for a few minutes and say "turning on" until it says "error". Then if I go into the main Froyo settings, I can turn on my Wifi successfully about 50% of the time the 2nd time around. Very frustrating....
I've not experienced the error... can you logcat the error and attach it??
Right before doing the wifi thing..
Adb shell
Su
logcat *:V |grep wifi & net & error > /sdcard/error.log
Then do ctrl-c to end it a few seconds after the error
Then attach error.log off the sdcard.. it might get kind of big though

I have the same experience. If I turn Wi-Fi off when leave home and turn it back on upon return it will not work and return error.
Another annoying bug is with mp3 playback. After a while it will not play mp3s in any player saying file are of wrong format also some of the notifications sounds also will not sound (Twitter). Amazon mp3 store will not play previews and mp3 that I bought. Pandora will hang in the "Loading" state. The only way to fix is to restart the phone.
My phone is not rooted, full stock. All updates were done OTA.
Both issues are started after EB13 upgrade.
Have you tried leaving the pulldown open while the wifi activates?
I had a similar problem on Nebula such that I would pull down the menu, hit the button and close it immediately. I noticed that a couple times it hadn't stalled I had been distracted when turning it on and hadn't closed the menu.
I started leaving it down until it acquired and haven't had the problem since. Sounds silly and it could just be happenstance but it couldn't hurt to try it.
It does not matter which method is used (Pull down, widget or directly through settings menu). Results are the same.
Yes, I agree. It doesn't matter which method that I activate wifi, it still hangs and says there is a connection error. I've used the widget, through the android settings menu and by the dropdown. No luck. I'm shocked that Sprint would not post a fix for this if enough people are having this issue. Maybe its a Samsung issue. It never happened with Android 2.1.
I too have the same error, I'm running bonsai 4.01

Logcat dump us so we can see what's happening with the OS and it's systems when this happens.
Put it over at pastebin.com

Do you have ultimate juicedefender running by chance?
I had the same problem for a while, but only when I was experimenting with battery saver tools like SuperPower and UltimateJuice, even when it was the tool that was trying to turn on the WiFi. Once I stopped using those tools I have not seen the issue at all and I can manually toggle the WiFi as often as I like.
P.S. I stopped using SP and UJ because with Bonsai I get fairly good battery life and I don't really need them anymore.
i've had this problem with stock eb13 and ec05, and with syndicate rom. only way to fix it for me is to reboot

i have the problem with no battery saving tools.
only way anyone can get to the bottom of it is someone with the problem is gonna have to provide some data.. might be too much info for a pastebin.. but if its not then put it up... if it is then attach the file here...
This happens all the time on stock EC05. It doesnt matter how I turn it on, or what steps I take, and sorry can't get a log for anyone.
Typed by Z using the Gingerbread keyboard.
No JD for me and no root, so I can't run the log, unless there is some other way of obtaining it.
Is Anyone else having this issue with the New Market? My Atrix will download and update anything through the market when over wifi, but when i try and use 3G it fails to download anything, it shows no progress whatsoever and there is a caution emblem in the notifications.
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201342
I posted it but no one seemed to care at the time..but I think it is the issue you are experiencing.
Usually when I'll hold the power button down and go into airplane mode then wait 10 seconds and go out of airplane mode and it starts downloading. Don't know why but it hangs there for a bit after flashing a new rom....at least for me it does.
Use appbrain, it syncs your apps with the market and scans for updates.
Worked like a charm for me
When I have this issue I go in to manage apps, clear data in the market and then try again. It's a pain, but works for me.
Tapped from my MB860.

this worked perfectly, quite the peculiar error.
Sorry for such a basic question, but I am out of the country and worried that if I reset my phone while in airplane mode it will resume with the cell on. Dont want that to happen since I will get nailed with high fees from all of the sms msgs that will come in and data issues.
Just wanted to see if you reset it in airplane mode will it stay in that mode when it boots up? Very much appreciate a response.
By reset, do you mean restart or factory reset? If restart with it on, then airplane mod will still be there. And reset, it will be gone.
Sorry, yeah, I just meant a restart, not a factory reset. I am running stock 2.2 non rooted. Glad to hear I can restart it and it will be in airplane mode still.
Yeah no problem. Have fun in airplane mode
I am a slave to finding open wifi. I guess it shouldnt bother me since I am supposed to be on vacation and should be happy with unplugging for a bit.
Having last travelled by plane with an Optimus T and on a carrier that will charge my bill across the room for data across America's boarders, it's right handy. Something you may want to bear in mind is sometimes you can't use everything off whatever WiFi is avail.
Good example: sitting around Edmonton, my phone couldn't access gmail via the app, but I was able to boot my netbook and use the gmail website no problem. Ditto in a hotel six hours away, having to use the netbooks web browser to get access to IM networks.

Hey guys,
This problem has been going on for a week or two now. Phone worked great when I first got it, but something must have changed (newest Verizon update, perhaps?)
Let me preface this by saying I've seen this happen both on Wi-fi and 4G. When on Wi-fi, and it happens, I've tried turning Wi-fi off and still get the same errors.
The apps affected seem to be random. A couple days ago it was Google Maps, I was getting the "offline navigation" prompt. Today it was Chase (couldn't screenshot it), TeamViewer, IMDb and so on.
Here are some screenshots. Note the time in the pictures.
- First encountered the problem when opening TeamViewer.
- Did a Speedtest to confirm that yes, I'm really on 4G as the phone shows, and it's quite a stable and fast connection too.
- Let's try some more apps. Here's Target's Cartwheel
- Delta app? Same problem.
- TeamViewer Host app. Same problem as the client.
- IMDb. One more random one not working.
- Lastly, I went back to Pokémon Go to confirm I DO still have network connectivity (not sure why the screenshot got ghosted like that, but you can see I just redeemed items from a Pokéstop I was near with no errors)
So as you can see, the phone itself, as well as certain apps, work fine. But others don't. I tried turning airplane mode on and back off, disabling/enabling mobile networks, nothing works. The only thing I can do is reboot the phone.
Any ideas? This gets incredibly annoying as I can't seem to go a whole day without *some* app whining that it has no network access. Some apps work flawlessly every time (like the aforementioned Pokémon Go) but others don't.
By the way, that little screenshot button in the bottom left is from this neat app called Custom Navigation Bar. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with this problem, though, all it does is add buttons.

Do you have powersave mode on? I've had some problems with it enabled..
No I don't have power save mode on. Should I turn off the power monitoring of apps as well? Didn't think that mattered as long as power save mode was off.

I turned all the power saving stuff off and still have this happening. As in, I set it to not even monitor how much power each app is using.
Hi, I'm running a rooted stock Oreo (version 8.0.0) and I've just discovered that when I turn flight mode on, if I then turn wifi on, I get the pop-up message "In flight mode" and the wifi icon in Quick Settings stays a light blue shade but Wifi doesn't actually turn on.
I may be mistaken but I thought this was working last year and I haven't done any updates to the phone.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
Kind regards,
Mack.
Hi, I'm pretty sure you can use this:
SystemUI Tuner - Apps on Google Play
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INSTALLING
play.google.com
One of the settings allows you to tune Airplane Mode.
Just to update - I think there must have been some kind of data corruption... I did a factory reset and it all worked correctly again.
