I'm having a couple off issues with the latest release.
First of all I can't turn Wifi off and keep it off. Everytime I go into the menu to check on it, it's checked, so I uncheck it, and it'll turn off for a minute or two and then all of a sudden turns right back on. This is extremely annoying.
And the other is that it seems like in some apps my touchscreen presses don't keep the phone awake. So I can be interacting with the screen and then all of a sudden it'll go dim. I'll keep pressing on screen buttons and a few seconds later the display will shut off completely. The only way I can jog it back awake in its dimmed state is to move the trackball or press some other hardware button.
Anyone else seen these problems?

I've seen similar issue with the screen staying awake, thought it's just the phone. Also not sure if it's related sometimes I'll click on a button for example, but it will almost not recognize the spot i'm clicking on and click something else on the screen.
These are the same problems I've been seeing on my phone. I imagine it is due to the multitouch hack, but I haven't gotten the motivation to downgrade my phone back to 1.31.
Do you have anything installed like power manager or locale? One of those progams may be turning on wifi.

Nope, I had installed Power Manager once a while back and didn't like how it worked so I uninstalled it. Don't have Locale installed either. I ran the task manager to see what was running and there was nothing that I could tell that would turn the wifi on.
The touch issues are rather widespread amongst 1.41 users. However, don't know what's up with ur wifi. I have a strange issue with my wifi as well though. Whenever I boot up my phone and wifi was enabled when it turned it off. I get 2 not responding errors. Everytime. Its like clockwork. With 3g? Never. It took me about 20 wipes and 10 or so hours to finally figure it out. Hopefully all these problems will be fixed with rc33
I have also noticed that Applications don't check for new updates anymore. even when I go to "My Downloads", It used to show "free" next to any application that has an update or has been uninstalled. Now it shows "Installed" next to all the applications but when I go to the application by category, It shows up as "Free" meaning that there is a new version.
the case in simple points:
1. when I open the Application..... It doesn't detect the update.
2. when I go to "My Downloads" in the market, It doesn't show "Free" next to any application that has an update.
But if I go to the application by category, It shows "Free".

i havnt had a problem with it staying on, i noticed that my phone was dimming to quickly. I know theres probably an adjustment somwhere (i think at least) but i havnt had any problems what so ever with it.
Very strange. I haven't had either problem (wifi or touchscreen). I have noticed that my battery drains more quickly than it used to, but I have been blaming this on the DroidSans autorotate feature always flipping the screen everytime I move the phone (I mess with the phone an awful lot).
Droidsan
I can not get auto rotate on JF RC-33. Does anyone have this problem???
another issue with with this version was that all my ringtones were changed for my contacts and stuff
pretty wierd.
i don't have any problems mentioned ATM.

DroidSans Tweaks checks the version. At the moment it's not going to recognize RC33 as a valid version. Wait for it to be updated.

What he said... But don't forget to enable auto rotate in your browser though. You don't need droidsans for that.
So, my brother and I have been running MoDaCo 1.1 core for a couple days now.
My phone has stopped connecting to the mobile network. All it says when I try to connect is "Standby for connecting to mobile network" with a green checkbox. I also notice now when I select the checkbox to connect it turns green instantly and shows that standby message. Before it would take a couple seconds to connect and turn green.
I have tried changing the mode of operation and it still doesn't want to connect. There is no 1x or EVDO in the notification bar. Wifi and GPS still work fine.
My brother's phone is still working fine. I have no idea what the problem can be.
Anybody else having this problem with MoDaCo 1.1?
I think that it has something to do with airplane mode. I enabled airplane mode yesterday, then turned it off. I didn't realize my data wasn't working after that since I don't use it while I'm at home. I am not sure if that is exactly the problem, just trying to think about how it could have stopped working.
I've noticed mine will do this at random on the MoDaCo 1.1 ROM. Every now and then I'll look at my phone and realize my EV symbol at the top is gone and I have no network connection. When this happens both the option in Settings and the small on/off widget on one of my home screens say it's still turned on. If I turn it off and back on, then I just get the "Standby for connecting to mobile network" message too. The only way I've found to get it to work again is to reboot the phone.
FYI this same problem happens to me with the stock ROM, even when it wasn't rooted. I've noticed it only happens when you turn airplane mode on, and then off.
Hmmm...I never touch airplane mode and I never saw this happen once in the month that I had the phone with the stock ROM. Maybe my problem is unrelated then.
Even when I reboot my phone it still doesn't work. I have tried messing around with the widgets turning things on and off multiple times and still nothing can get it working again.
I just went back to an old nandroid backup from before I put MoDaCo 1.1 on the phone and it seems to be working again. I'm going to put 1.1 on again. I'll use it for a while and try to recreate the problem to figure out exactly what it is.
Sprint/HTC has to fix that. it's a bug.
Lately, I've been having an issue where if I go into an area with no service (or at least I think I have no service) I never get service again, even when I'm in areas where I know I have strong service. Sometimes if I go into airplane mode and back, it comes back, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes when this happens, and I turn on airplane mode and turn it off again, the phone shuts itself off and I have to manually power it back on.
Anyone have this issue, or know what could be going on?

I have this same issue myself. Dunno what it is and wasn't able to fix it either. You can look through my comments to find an identicle thread I started a couple of days ago on this same issue titled "Data connection issue" to see if it helps.
I'll have airplane mode on for awhile but when I finally turn it off I get 3g data showing in the status bar but only one of the arrow's will light up if I try to use the browser and eventually sputters out. Same thing would happen with the Quicksettings app when I would turn off the apn data toggle for awhile, when I turn it back on there is no real data connection even though the 3g is showing...
I've tried the whole thing about pressing the #4#... etc to turn off the radio and turn it back on again but nothing works for me. I wish someone knew how to fix this
mine does the same thing. the only thing that works for me is turning it off and back on again. such a PITA.
mine does it also
I fixed my similar 3g problem by (re)flashing the radio from recovery.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mzwzdmatvyy
same problem i just restart
same problem sometimes...i just switch airplane mode on and off and it usually fixes
Old bug: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2845
I'm hoping that Froyo finally brings a fix for this (and full Exchange calendar), or it's Craigslistville for my N1.

Hey guys,
This problem has been going on for a week or two now. Phone worked great when I first got it, but something must have changed (newest Verizon update, perhaps?)
Let me preface this by saying I've seen this happen both on Wi-fi and 4G. When on Wi-fi, and it happens, I've tried turning Wi-fi off and still get the same errors.
The apps affected seem to be random. A couple days ago it was Google Maps, I was getting the "offline navigation" prompt. Today it was Chase (couldn't screenshot it), TeamViewer, IMDb and so on.
Here are some screenshots. Note the time in the pictures.
- First encountered the problem when opening TeamViewer.
- Did a Speedtest to confirm that yes, I'm really on 4G as the phone shows, and it's quite a stable and fast connection too.
- Let's try some more apps. Here's Target's Cartwheel
- Delta app? Same problem.
- TeamViewer Host app. Same problem as the client.
- IMDb. One more random one not working.
- Lastly, I went back to Pokémon Go to confirm I DO still have network connectivity (not sure why the screenshot got ghosted like that, but you can see I just redeemed items from a Pokéstop I was near with no errors)
So as you can see, the phone itself, as well as certain apps, work fine. But others don't. I tried turning airplane mode on and back off, disabling/enabling mobile networks, nothing works. The only thing I can do is reboot the phone.
Any ideas? This gets incredibly annoying as I can't seem to go a whole day without *some* app whining that it has no network access. Some apps work flawlessly every time (like the aforementioned Pokémon Go) but others don't.
By the way, that little screenshot button in the bottom left is from this neat app called Custom Navigation Bar. I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with this problem, though, all it does is add buttons.

Do you have powersave mode on? I've had some problems with it enabled..
No I don't have power save mode on. Should I turn off the power monitoring of apps as well? Didn't think that mattered as long as power save mode was off.

I turned all the power saving stuff off and still have this happening. As in, I set it to not even monitor how much power each app is using.

Sadly, I have just encountered this same problem - had my Yoga Book for a couple of weeks only, ran through the Android (version) update(s) and chucked a load of my usual apps on......and then this issue manifested
Having read around, seems that the only/most reliable 'fix' is the Battery Saver toggle, which - frankly - is not good enough. Whatever gets 'suppressed' with this mode is the key - something is not playing nice, and it is restricted to no effect when Battery Saver is on.....but what??

To me the behaviour seems like the update apps function has been disabled with the wrong battery saver state
What exactly happens? I have not got this issue but have seen similar issues on other android devices. If the OS thinks there is an app drawing over the screen. The Install button will show but do nothing when you press it. This is normal behaviour and part of the security for Android. Otherwise an app could draw over the install button with something else to trick you into pressing Install. Battery save is probably a red herring. It just happens to be killing the app with draw over other apps permissions. Look what apps have that permission and then force close one by one till the install works again. That will tell you which it is.
Hope that makes sense.
What happens for me, and I have only had my YogaBook for a few weeks, is that any app you try to update/install from the Play Store just doesn't actually start downloading: You are able to click on the 'Update' or 'Install' button, but then all that happens is that the horizontal progress bar appears, states 'Downloading' but never actually starts/progresses - you can leave this screen in place for several minutes/until patience expires(!)
Only solution I have found is, as per others, to turn on Batter Saver in the settings menu, and the same install/update/download then more or less instantly commences to actually happen!
Very bizarre......some sort of power saving setting in relation to the 'Download Manager' service, I reckon.......but nothing empirical to back this up. However, without fail, toggling the Battery Saver option on instantly allows the download et al to happen.

I noticed - I have not found a clear pattern - that sometimes, apps are installing or updating without the battery saver mode being on. Not always, and again, essentially always battery saver mode fixes this. It seems like they install on battery saver off more often when my VPN is active, but again, it isn't consistent.

Well as i type its back to installing as normal and the only thing i can think of is that my device previously went to zero charge. There was a google apps update too so not sure if its to do with that either.

Its certainly a good hypothesis, however, if i turn battery saver off, i am instantly again not able to download from the play store.
Ok so gets more curios - i installed CCleaner and opening the app makes downloads resume.
Ok so i think i have solved it. In my case it was outlook - i uninstalled it and now can download apps fine
Ok so scratch that, back to usual behaviour. Thought it was touchpal keyboard but no
I've never been able to find a direct cause as to why this happens. I've tried everything, including a full stock flash of the firmware. Even full stock, it worked fine for a while, but the issue eventually resurfaced.
I believe the service that's affected is D2dTransportService - com.google.android.gms.backup.component.D2dTransportService within Google Play Services. For some reason, it becomes disabled, and even forcing it to be enabled through a services manager app doesn't keep it active. I had a lot more insight into this a while back, but have since stopped caring as nothing worked and Lenovo isn't going to fix anything at this point.
No idea what's going on, but as others have said, the battery saver toggle is the only surefire 'fix' at this point. Given everything else seems to be working as expected, I've let it go and just accepted this as the new norm, ha.
I had kinda given up too, as the battery saver toggle was a hassle but worked. The past few days, it hasn't been working however. I spent most of the morning disabling various apps and services just to get back to being able to use the battery saver workaround. I'm so annoyed with lenovo and won't suggest their stuff anymore.
Ok so it gets more curious - the downloading works as expected when running in safe mode. The only thing that I can see that isn't running in the processes monitor is under 'Google services'. I have managed to get the downloading working as normal with a combination of disabling various processes but I can't replicate the steps each time.
right so i've narrowed it down to swiftkey keyboard. removing swiftkey and clearing the data of the download manager has fixed my downloading issue. back to normal!
Hmmm, I haven't installed Swiftkey (or any other 3rd party keyboard) on my YogaBook, and have tried clearing Download manager data/cache previously, along with all the other Google Play related things (services etc.)......and no joy, still only manage to download/update from Playstore when the Battery Saver is enabled.
Interestingly, however, the tablet will always identify/notify of available updates.....this means that the connectivity in Playstore works partially at all times, it is just the actual download element it fails on!!!!!

I'm bumping an old thread, but how do you get it in safe mode? I tried holding down the volume key on boot and it did not seem to work.
I thought at one point that, when I had SwiftKey installed, I started getting a lot more random reboots and also apps would not update even with battery saver. When I uninstalled it, apps started installing with battery saver again, but now I just re installed it, and they are still downloading with battery saver. So I still don't know, and now I'm not sure if it is causing the random reboots, either. Every once in a while I futz with it or else I just kind of let it be.

Try a "force stop" of the "Android Accessibility Suite" then start "Play Store" and see if updating now works.
