hi as the title says i need help. gti9000 rooted not lag fixed. open on all networks.
my phone is running: pda : i9000NEJG3
phone : i9000NEJG1
csc : i9000HCGJH1
firmware version : 2.1-update1
baseband version : I9000NEJG1
kernal version : 2.6.29 [email protected]#2

Just wait 1-2 Days , 3's Official ROM will be available soon , You can Update then Through Kies easily ...
I am also waiting and hoping for it to come out soon.. Fingers Crossed
i am tired of waiting and heard it might not happen lol.
You are able to flash any available rom but I seen europe rom is good compare to australian rom, u also download from samfilmware
Or wait for official release from kies .

hi i am a little confused.com as to which rom 2.1/2.2, csc file or no csc file to use so i can keep my provider settings apn ect.
please help with some ideas for the roms.
jpo on sam firmwares says jm8 512pit repartition. then jpo no repartition but i noticed theres no modem file or csc files very confused.com.
could some one giv it in an explanation as to the whole procedure so i dont get it wrong. my wife is disabled and relys on my phone to work so bricking is out of the question.
please help as i would like froyo 2.2.
very greatfull
marvin
ok if i flash the modem file which is : -The MODEM (called Phone). This is the firmware of the wireless chipset of the device and will operate you WiFi, Blutooth and 3G/2G/GSM connections. (ie Radio ROM). will i loose all of threes settings, as jm8 requires this file for flashing.
i also see that jpo is just the code file and 803pit, so the csc file isnt used in either flash and the csc is : -The CSC (short for Customer Specific Customization). This includes connection data for the broadband networks as well as apps that are only available in certain languages/intended for a specific area. so the broadband setting will stay then.
so after flashing jm8 with the modem file will i loose my 3g, wifi ect.
please confirm thankyou.

I got tired of waiting for the Orange UK Froyo and plus i didnt like their bloatware nonsense that came on my SGS. Didnt really want to faff around looking for rom's .etc and would rather use Kies to flash and not Odin so...
I used the kies patch here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628
Select which product code you wish to spoof, i chose XEU full instructions are given, read through the thread, and Kies updated my handset to stock Froyo 2.2 not bloatware crap....thought it would be useful to mention it here just incase you wish to debrand/rid the three version.

ok i flashed jm8 512pit, then jpo with 803pit. all is ok
now for three users if you want to keep your apn settings download apn backup/restore and back up your apn settings, works a treat.
titianium backup pro, backed up all apps plus data.
uninstall any lagfix/2e tools, left root
also used adb for the reboot, recovery\download mode, as my phone does not have 3 button enabled.
after the jm8 had no apn settings so went right on with jpo and then reset the phone.
used apk 3.0 to load z4 root and rooted the phone, installed apn backup and reset, then installed titianium backup and restored apps and all works very well.
last lag fixed with oclf sweeeeeeeeeeeet. and reboot phone not factory reset.
installed root tools from the market and chaned fonts its now finnished.
3 weeks of reading and app searching and it was a success.
regards all and merry christmas in advance.

Don't you mean I9000DTJG4. ie. JG4
Might like to update the thread Title.
I'm thinking of reflashing my OPTUS SGS back onto JG4 OPTUS firmware.
Wondering about my warrantee even though I bought it unlocked through an OPTUS reseller not through OPTUS.
You got it through Kies is a pretty good acheivement in itself with all the negative responses out their about Kies.

I've gotten 4 updates through Kies on the Korean phone, a guy I send PMs to on here just got an OTA update yesterday which surprised the hell out of me.
*EDIT* He is also in Korea on the Korean version. And 2 of my firmware updates might count as one since they came bundled, but I think they were separate releases and I just happened to get both at once.
I guess I am not able to update to this versoin because I flashed with JM2 ??
What if I flash with soemthing like JG1 ? Will I be able to upgrade ?
One more question, how does kies knows that it's an optus device ? Is it the IMEI or the Sim card or the current ROM ??

Did it fix the lag and GPS-issue?
Kies Sync Problem after upgrading
Hi,
I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S to the new JG4 firmware.
I have the following builds:
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband I9000DTJG3
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build: Eclair.DTJG4
The problem is that after upgrading Kies i can no longer connect back to my phone.
The MTP USB Device driver comes up with an error as soon as Kies fires up. The old version of Kies had no problems but the latest release has some real issues.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Peter
Thought I'd use mybackup pro before I try out this jg4 update. I havn't rooted yet - will I still be able to backup all the app and data needed? I guess the important bit to know is - what can't I backup because I'm not on root. Probably should figure that out before backing it up and going to the update!

Flashing your phone removes applications, contact, email and everything you hold dear hence why in most of the trheads it say's to back this up using the available backup programs.
Lost settings, contacts and apps after upgrade
I am new to Android and the SGS. Is it normal to lose everything when upgrading the firmware?
I lost everything also! This is my first time updating android firmware and coming from an iPhone I wasn't expecting it. I don't recall seeing a warning message, but I may have missed it as it took several attempts to get kies working. Searching the HDD for dll files/renaming/moving around just to get the update to work is bit much to ask!
Unfortunately it hasn't done anything to fix the GPS problems, I can't get a location after trying for an hour. Have had trouble with wifi in the past, but this seems to be resolved now.
It seems that Market is broken in this official firmware
I can't find Skies of Glory or MSN Talk Pro
It turns out that all protected applications are not shown in Market - pretty lame from Samsung.
Poor effort
Sorry Samsung, but to lose all your contacts, settings and downloaded applications while updating (and without any warning) is a very poor effort regardless of any improvements that may have been made. This is very disappointing and unprofessional and the update should be withdrawn until these problems are resolved. F grade.
Regarding Kies not connecting to the SGS. I had that problem prior to updating and tried many things to resolve it. Eventually, formating the SD card fixed this issue for me.

I can confirm this is the case. It would appear other applications are creating the issue on the phone with 16digit extentions or files. After an internal SD format kies worked correctly.
I have to agree with you all in theory.
Even flashing the firmware on say a Nokia phone, a message comes up asking you to backup your data prior to upgrade as you will loose it on the phone. Samsung have poorly implimented this in Kies. It will flash the firmware but give you no warning of the implications.
I guess you could also argue that this is an Android phone and not a iPhone. Things are done differently in Android then in iPhone and maybe a bit of reading might have identified that you should always back up you data prior to flashing the firmware.
That being said Kies should have an inbuilt ability to backup and restore your data and applications if they are also offering to flash the firmware.
Wish you all luck with it.

Yep, I find this a serious serious problem without a working KIES. I don't want to be forced to surrender personal info to google. MyBackUp steals the info to the cloud even if you wanted to backup just to the storage card.
How does this compare to JM2 to those who had tried both, in terms of lag and GPS accuracy?
Rooting is not what a typical consumer will do..so how can you officially back up in android?
So samsung must had a serious bug in kies it shouldn't remove your apps.
I Odin to m2 n yes I lost all my apps but I was expecting that fair enough but from kies cmon
Though my contacts being sync to google that was ok...
Hi everyone. This is my first ever post in my life and hope it will be helpful. I do appologize for my English if I have mistakes in words and sentences.
I have installed Android official Froyo 2.2 upgrade from stock Eclair 2.1 three days ago and I did not liked how Froyo is working (slow). So I decided to get back to Eclair 2.1 and apply RyanZa`s lag fix (and wait for RyanZa to make it work with official Froyo) as it was not working on Froyo 2.2 official (could not root it). I was searching today for the right Firmware version for me (I9000XXJM1) so I can use official upgrade to Froyo from KIES again. And I have found it(many thanks to everyone who helping each other and we all can find answers). I am not sure if it will work for all Galaxy S i9000 8 or 16GB, but it definitely worked for me (I have an upgrade message waiting for me on my last KIES everytime I am connecting my Galaxy S but I do not want it now ). I have uploaded all files you will be needed, see the attached picture as I can not put link in my post (rules of XDA). ODIN program and Firmware I9000XXJM1 in one file.
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S i9000 16GB simfree United Kingdom version I believe.
This is how I did that (how I learned from XDA):
1) extract all files using Rar or Zip to a folder
2) open Odin3 v1.3
3) check Re-partition box
4) select PIT file - s1_odin_20100512
5) select PDA file - CODE_I9000XXJM1_REV03_LOW_20100721_2206.tar
6) select PHONE file - MODEM_I9000XXJM1.tar
7) slect CSC file - CSC_I9000OXAJM1.tar
8) put phone in downloading mode - volume button down+home button+power button
9) connect your phone to PC with USB cable
10)you should see com port in ID:COM section in ODIN
11)press START button in ODIN
12) your phone will restart itself when downloading is finished
Congrats, you have now Eclare 2.1 and should be able to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 from KIES
It is not my work and honor, there much more clever guys out there then me, I just used they`s knowledge and want to have an apportunity to help everyone who need it. Maybe I am late already?
thx, was just looking for this,
I am glad.
z4root works fine with 2.2, as does flashing a rooted kernel (e.g. CF-Root kernel) using odin. Both are available on this forum if you do a search.
Oh, thanks for info. Will definitely try z4root.
heloo mate the files are no longer there, is there another way i can get hold of them please?
File no longer exists.... update please if possible
It is there. I did not remove it. I am sorry but I can not copy paste it here becouse of the XDA rules but I promise you they are uploaded and still there. See the URL on the picture above. By the way "z4root" is not working for me (SGS i9000 16GB FROYO.XXJPO simfree UK), it just never end to attempting apply root to the phone? was doing it yesterday more then 1 hour.
Ok .. go the files from samfirmware and downgraded from JPM to JM1. Did as you said with re-partition. I then did a factory reset on JM1 then upgraded via kies to JPO.
Just to be sure I get a clean install I then did a factory reset on JPO too.
Works like a charm... Now I can update via kies whenever they (if they ever) release new updates....
WICKED!
THANKS
Oh almost forgot.... I used a Samasung Galaxy S 8 Gig model from the carphone warehouse!
Thanks mate, finally done it, i typed in upper case according to the link, i had to do it in lower case instead. thanks once again.
Woked for me thanks, wanted rid of the Nordic firmware, will wait till the UK froyo is released.
Thasnks again
I am very glad that it works for you all.
I will try it tonight and come back with the answer. I'm from Romania, I have nordic froyo and right now we have the official version so I have to downgrade first
Hope it`s working for Romania as well but not sure. Anyway, good luck.
Hello,
Thanks for this, I downgraded from 2.2 (installed last moth using Kies hack) to JM1 but I still can't upgrade to official Froyo using Kies, it says cannot update this device's version.
I'm on Orange in Romania.
Could someone help? How can I upgrade to official 2.2?
Thanks.
NKProds - try downgrading to an Eclair version that was used for Orange Romania phones and please post the results.
1. If I make upgrade to froyo with odin can i make the same steps to downgrade him to 2.1? (because title say downgrade from official froyo who means from kies).
2. I have problems with camera (not open) and with scroll bar (not open) after i make download and install thetering from market(
I reinstall camera but problems stiil there. That is the final choice (downgrade-upgrade again from kies) to try something before to send to service.
I have problem. In downloading mode computer not regonize phone. HELP.
Open Kies and let it run in the background connect phone see if it finds drivers .

Thank you so much for this post, saved me hours of searching.
This morning connected my Galaxy Tab to KIES and it prompted that there is an update !!
it took ages to download its binary files then finally after it got done, it gave me a decryption error !!
I have changed my sales code to gain access to market, could this be the problem or do i redownload the files !!
Isn't there a way to UPGRADE fw via OTA? or placing update.zip in root of sd nd flashing from recovery? (similar to HTC devices)
how do I upgrade to the latest version? help please
Cheers
Jackie
PS: Please find attached the firmware code : current and new !
Are you UK based Jackie? Just guessing as you said cheers! I've seen nothing this morning though have read there was an Android Market update which I had already downloaded and applied, maybe why I'm seeing no update.
no I'm based in UAE !! that's just teh way I speak !!
Ah right, nice to read it all the same, Cheers!
so anyone has any idea?
Jackie,
I don't bother with Kies.... It put my SGS in a right mess and couldn't be used until I sorted it out with another ROM and a different PC software upgrader by the name of Odin.
Your best bet is to go on over to samfirmware.com and check out the latest ROM's available.
I'm sending you also a link which although was written for the SGS and Froyo it's still relevant for ROM files for the Tab and how to use Odin.
See here:- How to use Odin to Upgrade the SGS to Froyo

First, what ROM version do you currently have installed?
Next, look at the list of ROM's available see here.
You need to find out if you are on a European, Asian, Arabic, etc ROM and decide if you want to stay on that list or opt to another nation list.
For European lists JMA is the latest. There's a topic on JMA here.
PDA: P1000JPJJ2
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
CSC: P1000OJPJJ3
is what is being reported on *#1234# and samfirmware says this is the Arabic firmware and the latest for Arabic is P1000JVJL1 December 2010, not that I'm interested in any of the region specific apps - just wondering what has been fixed in these firmwares and also if flashing would delete all my data (I'm guessing it would)
I don't mind flashing a European firmware too, so which would be best?
PS: Tab is currently rooted with OCLF set ! =)
Cheers

It should not delete any data.
The browser and camera have been improved.
The browser now scrolls smoother.
The camera focus's much better.
No idea what other improvements have been made.
It does not really matter which firmware you wish to use BUT bear in mind a number of users who have performed a lagfix have had issues in upgrading the ROM.
You MUST ensure you remove any lagfix applied otherwise you stand a good chance in bricking the phone.
Also, ensure you have access to the Recovery and download mode.
You will need this if you 'brick' the phone.

You need someone who is on a T-Mobile locked phone to answer this. I have heard of users on carrier networks who have run into issues.
Basically, unless you have a sound knowledge in what you are doing I would not attempt it until you get good solid advice.
seems like a long procedure, I'll hold off until i'm done with my exams....

Got a similar problem... info says its P1000XXJID, valid euro firmware... Bought the tab in Hungary (Middle of europe), carrier free, and after looking at samfirmware.com's ROM list I was wondering about the updates.
Kies tells me this version can't be updated...
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Many, Many of us here in UK are having problems and are unsuccessful when trying to update/upgrade using Kies.
Hopefully Kies will get fixed properly to allow us all to use it.

Even ActiveSync was better... at least it didn't offer the SW update...
to trick kies to update u could use kies registry patcher. I have sucsessfully updated via kies from jj3 -> jj7 (when no updates was availible)
read thru this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863386
Use the info from check fus and paste it in registry patcher, reboot pc - start kies - connect phone - something should happen.
Before anyone flames me down ive used the search multiple times to no avail and the capcha thing made me want to shoot myself.
i bought a galaxy s about a week ago (converted from and iphone) and im moderately happy. ive upgraded it to 2.2 and its 'better' but still lags n freezes and eats my battery in about 5hours but its ok.
now i want to upgrade to 2.2.1 because i hear it may fix some of those issues. i connected the phone to Kies which told me to go away as there was no update?
im really confused and new to the android scene, could someone help a noob out here lol?
it was originally locked to vodafoneuk and i have managed to unlock it.
any help would be greatly appreciated, all i want to do is make my galaxy s the best it can be performance wise.
in Kies my current software is PDA:JP7/PHONEJP5/CSC:JP7 (VOD)
thanks
Update is only if Vodaphone have an update ready .
Other route is the unofficial one and is outside warranty .
That involves flashing your phone via Odin with a stock Samsung firmware for your region . That is not your network customized firmware .
Or installing a customized rom with a faster kernel lagfixed etc .Again its outside warranty .
I would use rom kitchen as an easy method .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
http://romkitchen.org/sgs/?s=home
https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub...MWI2LWlSR3IwM0dnYmdLX2kzMEE&hl=en&output=html
The following should give you a fast UK phone from the kitchen .
XXJPY Wipe CSC XEU Kernel Supercurios Modem JPY
the rest you can choose or just pick stock .
Again as a new user this is outside of warranty and may brick your phone though mostly recoverable .
jje
thanks mate greatly appreciated!
Just a caveat. Make sure you can access the recovery mode via the three button startup BEFORE you do anything or you may end up with big problems.
If you have Kies v1.xxxxxxxxx_102 you can use the kies reg hack utility found elsewhere on the forum to force an official 2.2.1 upgrade to your phone. It is also very worth while doing a full factory reset and cache clear before starting.
I upgraded to 2.2.1 about a month ago with my vodafone uk i9000. No mods or reg hacks.
When I first tried it said no udpates available, I let kies update itself fully and once that was done it immediately offered me 2.2.1.
It didn't wipe any phone data or apps, but it did wipe the icons on the touchwiz screens so I had to set them up again dragging from the apps list.
Vodafone didn't give me a branded phone though, I had one from the first batches they got into the country.
after upgrading do make sure it's set to make the wifi sleep if the screen goes off or your battery will suffer
Hey all,
I bought my GNote off of Amazon (I live in the States), and it's been running great. I've been waiting for the most recent update to push to my phone, but it hasn't rolled out yet. So I've been doing a lot of searching to try to figure out where my phone actually came from. Pulling CSC using *#1234# gives me N7000UUBKK2. I can't find reference to that anywhere. When I run Kies or dial *#272*IMEI#, I get the following three options, which I've been able to identify.
VNO (selected) = Venezuela
TDR = DOMINICAN REP.
TTT = Trinidad & Tobago
Anyway, I bring this up because I can't seem to find this in Dr.Ketan's huge list of Stock roms (or any roms from those countries at all, though I am running 2.3.6). Does anyone know more about my rom, or when I can expect to get the newest update that enables the 1-handed keyboard?
@projectrally --- this is something I have not come across from anywhere myself...
Maybe, you be able to find out if you do research through samfirmware.com
you know the one i am talking about ?
There was a UBKK8 firmware floating around the DEV subforum a couple days ago... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478060)
I think "UB" is Brazil, and being that mine started with the same firmware, I'd say that you purchased the "samsung galaxy note gt-n7000 unlocked cellphone -- US Warranty (blue)" that's actually sold by amazon directly (not a 3rd party.)
I'm curious why would you want to keep the UB firmware? There are much more recent firmware versions for other regions, and they'll all work on your phone. I'm currently running a XXLA4 firmware with no problems.
If there is an issue where I need to send this back, I can easily put a UBKK1 firmware back on the phone.
Take care
Gary

I purchased from Amazon through a 3rd party seller called Worldwide Imports.
I don't really want to keep the UB firmware, but I've got a mac and really zero friends with PCs that I can use to reflash this thing. Even at work we've got all Macs. I tried installing a wineskinned version of Odin, but it couldn't find my phone via USB, so that didn't work. I've read a lot about heimdall and most of it's bad. I'm new to Android, and I'd rather go with a tried and true method (i.e. Odin on Windows) for my first crack at flashing a new rom.
Eventually I'll track down somebody with a windows machine to do this update, but it might take me a while. In the meantime, I'm sort of stuck with what I've got, so I was just wondering what info there is out there on the build.
I have the same build. I bought mine from expansys last week. I plan on keeping the rom as is and wait for the ICS upgrade. Really enjoying the phone. Everyone notices it.

Gary,
I've got a problem. Maybe you can help. I borrowed a friend's windows laptop and I've upgraded to XXLA4 using the following method...
- Root before reflash using zergrush
- downloaded and extracted zip file for XXLA4 to tar.md5 file
- flashed using mobile odin pro.
The result is that I get a successful update, but I get the "null" problem when typing. People have said that I need to update the CSC file by manually pointing the Cache file at the new CSC file, but I don't have a new CSC file to point to. When I unzipped the XXLA4 file that I downloaded, it was a single .tar.md5 file, which is the file I used to flash. If I put that same file in the Cache field of mobile odin (and don't change any other values) and then flash again, I still get the null error.
So Dr. Ketan says to use the CSC file, but I don't have a CSC file. If I extract the .tar.md5 file again, I get the following five files:
cache.img
factoryfs.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
zImage
Is one of those the file I should be using in mobile odin in the Cache field? Should I clear the cache first?
For now, I just went back and used PC Odin and flashed the KL1 version of XXLA4 without root. I'll keep searching and see what I can sort out. This would be easier if I didn't have to borrow a Windows machine to do this...
