Well the best thing out there so far is the latest Cyanogenmod 6.1 RC3. It's stock Android based with tons of enhancements and very stable. Everything works, wifi, bluetooth, etc.

What is the most current radio for the slide? I just put CM6.1 RC2 on my GF's slide, but nothing else additional (kernel, radio, etc.). What else do i need to get it as up-to-date as whatever OTAs are out?
(I'm coming from my DX rom experience so i don't know as much about HTC devices as I do the DX...)

I have one question for the people using cm6, once your rooted and have flash cyanogen are you still able to use flash lite to see videos on your web browser???

ok so im new to ROMs and i was wondering what would be good for me?
i only have 2 criteria:
-has to be fast
-has to be good with games
thanks!
I'm kind of interested in this too, because my friend has a 32B white T-mobile mytouch 3g and I flashed CM6 on it but it's incredibly slow... wondering which ROM to flash to so it's faster, perhaps a non 2.2 ROM?
I'm a fan of cyanogen for 2.2 and the rooted rogers 2.1 rom if I'm feeling like using sense. Both are relatively fast. I don't do much gaming on my phone though.

I have been looking to get the liberated aria rom FR008 but I want to know does it keep the HTC sense with active weather and all the HTC Widgets? Also is there any bugs with that rom like Bluetooth or wifi etc?? I got clockwork on and the only thing left is to flash rom. Please let me know if there is any problems with this rom, I considered cyanogenmod but I like the HTC active weather to much. Thanks

Yes, this ROM is a rooted version of the HTC Gratia (European version of the Aria), so all of the HTC features work, including the FM Radio, WiFi, BT, etc.
a simple read through of this Liberated Aria Froyo ROM thread has all the info you need.

+1 - If you want to keep Sense, it's a great ROM and very stable.
I had reserves as well, but I rooted to FR008 ROM and haven't had a single problem. Been running it for around a month now.
This was the first rom I flashed when I rooted (I only had the phone less than 3hours ) it was stable and everything worked perfectly. I've moved onto the cm7 nightlys tho

CM is lighter than sense, smaller footprint, generally very responsive. You do give up a lot of eye candy relative to sense, CM in comparison just looks unpolished. Of course polish is not its purpose. You can get a lot of the eye candy back with Launcher Pro + Fancy Widgets Pro + other free stuff on the market. Plus you get some nice features with LP. In fact right now I run FR008 with LP as the default launcher.
Why not just switch to CM? The biggest issue for me with CM is the total lack of ability to sync desktop Outlook without your data ending up on Google's servers. As best as I can tell there is no 3rd party app, paid or free, that will let you do that. The basic problem seems to be that stock Android will not allow calendars that are not synced to the cloud but still visible to the OS. HTC's version of Android does that, and does it well. So I am sticking with Sense for the moment, despite a few drawbacks.
Rooted mine yesterday finally and flashed liberated fr008 Rom w/ sense. Seemed to be a lot faster than original 2.1 for a few hours but now everything lags and incredible amount and battery is about half as efficient than 2.1. I also noticed my apps such as HTC music player and email are constantly running in the background even right after I kill them they will restart immediately. Do not really want to flash a whole new Rom w/out sense already since I just finished this one. I did not use Hong Kong kernel because I have no clue how to... wondering if that is the reason this is happening. This is my first time ever modding a phone of any kind. Does anyone else have this issue?

Did you have to flash the Hong kong kernel with fr007 or did u leave the original? And is that with the sense UI?

No I believe it is the Graitia kernel. It is running sense. Running Liberated Aria (FRF91) with kernel 2.6.32.21. Hope that helps.
Hay guys im new to this forum and new to rooting and roming phones. First of all i was able to root the my touch 4g and add a new rom the first rom i add was royal ginger older version before i noticed the update. I liked that room but the problem was that i could not watch stream videos at all or flash even though i updated the room to royal ginger 3.0 latest version and nothing it seemed that the flash did not work properly. So last night i decided to try a new rom so i ended up using Android Revolution HD with sense 3.5. The rom works perfect and streams flash and usual stream sites my only problem is that the 3g and 4g switch on and off when im not using the internet or looking at streams it goes on 3g but when i do go online or stream it goes to 4g. My friends phones always stay on 4g but my doesn't so im wondering if its the rom. Also in advance what would be a really good rom that doesn't go back and fourth with the 3g and 4g and that is able to stream videos and flash working. Doesn't matter if its sense with android or stock vanilla with android thanks in advance.
The device actually does this to help you out. It goes to 3g to save you battery when not on the net.
Oh really i did not know that at all. What do you recommend as a really good rom.
I was on dark sense for a long time. Still think is a good rom. Decided to try something new though. I'm on android revolution hd now and its a great rom.
Oh ok i was going to try coredroid i heard its really good have you tired it before.
never tried core.
Well i let you know im going to try it out tomorrow and seee if i like it.

I suggest darkside sense as well, i havn't found any bugs and it is my daily driver. otherwise you can try infernosense which is really good as well
Also check out MikRunny 1.01. I've had a great experience with it in terms of battery life and it is, I believe, the only other ROM besides Cyanogenmod that supports changing music tracks by long pressing the volume buttons when your screen is off. That is one feature I cannot live without
You can also look at cyanogenmod, miui, or virtuous. I have my eyes on creamed glacier, and looking forward to flashing this rom asap. Cannot base my opinion on yet since I have not tried it.
good roms
Bliss Droid & MikRunny are great. Fast, stable, all features working. If you want a little challenge, flash Creamed Glacier. It's a great ICS Rom, just still in the early stages, so be prepared for some bugs.
I currently use stock rooted MT4G, but have started to enjoy the Virtuous Unity Glacier ROM that gives us Sensation's abilities. I have noticed that normally MT4G finds 5ghz wifi w/ no prob, but w/ Virtuous Unity it's gone. I want to find out if someone has a way to restore the support in not only the GB builds, but now also the ICS builds that share the same problem. Before anyone brings up wiki on this issue of whether MT4G supports 5Ghz and starts a flame war, I have both bands running in my house and have even done wifi calling through the 5Ghz band, so don't bother quoting specs. Need further proof: URL pdf.eccn.com/pdfs/Datasheets/Broadcom/BCM4329.pdf I believe the issue has something to do with how the kernel is compiled with the bcm4329.ko module. There may be a switch or parameter not being set in the module's build files (written in c) before a build is initiated. The resulting .ko file seems different depending on which phone it's being used on. Obviously this is a senior developer/kernel jockey question and I lack the know how to do this myself, but it's an important issue considering every developer wants to put out as bug-free a build as possible.
Any ideas?
Spec:
MT4G unlocked, and rooted. 4ext Recovery
Factory MT4G w/ GB and Virtuous Unity Glacier 1.27

Hey I have asked the same question before but got no answer, I know nothing about what you wrote but I would love to have it working again.... I also have a dual band router that sends out both 2.4 gHz and 5.o gHz freq. at the same time and it is great for media. I would love to see this fixed.

Froyo never supported this for MyTouch 4G.
The official GB kernel came with 5Ghz support. Oddly, no developer never had support in their custom kernels. If you MUST have it, you could try flashing the stock kernel (extract it from the official ROM) or learn C and have at. This has been asked about many times and no one with the skills seems to want to add it.
If someone knows otherwise please correct me.

I got the mt4g on the first day it was sold and 5 ghz wireless n did work on the froyo version and all of the stock roms (until the Android 2.3.4 Software build number 2.32.531.1 - when they partially broke it - it worked but not consistently .. see support.t-mobile.com/message/75827 ).
My take is that the kernels are using a generic driver that works for all of the similar devices that did not have the 5 ghz N. There are very few phones that have 5 ghz wireless N - so I assume that the linux kernel either isn't from the HTC mt4g source or the wifi driver for some reason has been changed out, but a dev would need to weigh in on that.
I think the bindroid runmed 2.5 supports 5. (Don't quote me) and IMO its better maintained then virtuous, so I would recommend checking it out. I think youll see a massive improvement all around.

So I got my MT4G up and running after my eMMC chip went out so now I have to S=OFF and install a custom rom and the one you suggested morgan5814 is going to be the first one I try out, if I like it then good but if not then going to try ICS roms because before my MT4G broke there was no ICS around.

Hi everyone, I apologize ahead of time if these questions are redundant and can be found in different forums. I recently received a MyTouch 4G from T-Mobile as a replacement for my wife's lost Samsung Galaxy S 4G and am trying to set up a stable system for her.
I've already downgraded, rooted, and installed a custom ROM (currently CM7 7.2.0 RC1) but wanted to ask a few questions.
1) ROM recommendation? Rock-Solid ROM with non-buggy WiFi calling is a must since we have poor reception at home. I imagine that a ROM based off of an official T-Mobile base for the Glacier would be best but I'm not sure.
1a) For such a ROM, is there a preferred standout kernel?
2) Is there any hope for ICS roms to gain solid WiFi Calling capability?
3) Out of curiosity, why are there so many ROM ports? Are they just as stable and functional as one specifically for the Glacier?
Thanks a lot for your answers! I know it's very subjective but I'm hoping to get some good feedback so I don't have to keep deleting her data as I try out different things
Virtuous Unity is an oldie but goodie and everything works. Use the kernel it comes with.
There is always hope for any feature. Wifi calling will work well on ICS eventually. Give it time.
There are many very good roms for other phones that port well. The MyTouch 4G has two "sister" phones that share the same SoC and port easily. Why build a whole new ROM when you can port? Also, keep in mind that a non-ported ROM has to be compiled from source which, for the most parrt, limits you to AOSP, AOKP and CyanogenMod. We have lots of that. Any sense ROM that isn't based off of a glacier/panache build is going to be a port, as well as MIUI.
Edit: I almost forgot. Android Revolution HD is right up there with VU in functionality and is still supported. There is a camcorder fc, but a fix can be found in the thread. Doubleshot cam and 720p setting, as I recall.

I used to have an HTC Sensation (which my 1-year old son tragically dropped into a cup of joe) and ARHD was definitely one of the most stable and popular ROMs.
However, because of his commitment to a stock experience I had to flash several add-ons to get desirable tweaks (battery%, ultra-smooth rosie, extended quick-settings, custom power-button settings).. are these also available for the Glacier version? (I read the thread and it seemed like the latest version does not have these yet?)
Thanks again!
ps. Is it best to keep the kernel that comes with it?
flash rc tweaks. There is a link in that thread somewhere. Also, that kernel is really good. If you don't like it you could try thederekjay's sense kernel, but I doubt you will need to change.
The ROM called LeeDroid is good too, I've been using it for several weeks, no problems.

Thanks!
I installed ARHD 7.0.3 with RC Tweaks and it's been pretty darn amazing. Everything works (so far) and fast!
Thanks again for not letting me flounder around.. very much appreciated!
The real test is whether or not SHE likes it.
Haha.

Call me blasphemous but Sense feels a lot smoother than CM.. have you seen how smoothly the screen transitions ? It also looks more polished IMO.
Having said that, is there any way to adjust the haptic feedback level on ARHD? It's too strong for my liking.. tried to search but didn't turnip anything.
