Still no update for root - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the MyTouch 4G and want to root. I have seen the threads about rooting but they say that you have to have the update. I see no option to update the software in the settings. So, do I have to have the update to root. I'm really not sure what to do at this point.
Thanks

How to unroot nexus one?

i wanna make it as the factory rom. can i do that?
Nope, pretty much we are stuck with root (i've been trying to find a solution as well)
same question, different day...
You can unroot it and restore back to stock rom, but your bootloader will remain unlocked. There is no way to re-lock the bootloader as of yet.

Follow this thread and it should put you back to stock excluding the bootloader.
Hey you know what'd be nice?

Why don't you just do it? If your N1 ever has a hardware issue, HTC is repairing them, bootloader locked or not.

Help me re-root my Glacier running Royal Thunderbolt.

Hi...It has been a long time since I have posted in this forum because I thought I had bricked my phone and given up.....somehow I got out of it and now I need your help again.
What originally happened is that I tried to restore my phone with pd115.img so that I could sell it to someone that wasn't exactly tech savvy... being a dumbass I make the mistake of booting with pd115 not knowing that I should have restored JUST my radio first...anyways this pretty much screwed me...until somehow I restored it to a working ROM(because there was no ROM on it before)...so I am now trying to root my phone....again...so that I can run the radio update and then the pd115 that will completely restore my phone to stock. Problem is I can't get VISIONary to work at all... i tried permaroot..didin't work, so i tried the same way I did originally which was temp root and then terminal method..but i don't think the temp root is even working...when i click it, it just kind of flashes...i thought i remembered it doing more work then that, anyways, can someone help me please?
Is your current ROM not rooted? Or do you have root access, you just can't S-OFF or change ROMs?

[Q] Atrix 4g. Any help would be appreciated!!!

First off im not a noob. i have/had a nexus s; captivate, att sgs2 all rooted flashed and the sort. my wifes atrix 4g is a mystery. it could be because i havent spent as much time with it as the other phones but anyway heres the prob: when she got her phone it was running either 2.2 or 2.2.xx cant remember but i rooted it using gingerbreak. then she did the gingerbread update on top of the root. here is the problem. the phone still has the supersuser app and looks like its rooted but its not. how do i remove all of the the components of the root then reroot? theres nothing wrong with the phone it works fine no problems whatsoever. a lil info any advanced users could use: system version 4.5.91.mb860.att.en.us running 2.3.4 kernel 2.6.32.9-00001-g41bc3e0 [email protected]#2 build# 4.5.91
any help will be appreciated. ill try to check this tread as often as i can. we just had a newborn 3 weeks ago and a 2yr old running around as well as working full time. feel free to send a pm with any question r possible solutions. thx

What makes you think its not rooted?
In any case, try "re-rooting" using the info in this thread.
Any app that requires root permissions says its not rooted. ill try that and see what happens. thx

restore... unroot questions

What would happen if I allowed the at&t update to happen? I am rooted with towel root and added titanium and safestrap. that's it. Can I restore to the original AT&T rom? I am obviously on AT&T and rolling with the s5 Active.
not really impressed with the root on this particular device...Samsung will allow a ton of custom setups and I can deal with the bloatware compared to the instability of just being rooted...Ive had more call drops and stutters and blackscreens since rooting... no biggie
Just want to know if I can just apply the update or do I need to jump through hoops?
Please understand that I'm "slow" and rode the short bus to school...Please refrain from treating me that way. im not all there.. just help Thanks.

I suggest you learn more about rooting. It's awesome once you know how and what you can benefit from it. Worth the Knox 0x1 at some point.

The update may comtain a patch for Towelroot so you might not be able to root after that, CF Auto Root will work but it will trip KNOX.

If you notice... Ive been a member of this forum for 5+ years... Post count means nothing...while others are posting, I'm "learning more about rooting." Plus, I'm highly gun shy about posting idiotic and useless comments around here. There is no tolerance for such sensationalism..
So, thanks for the suggestion but I'm as well read about rooting as you are. Yes, its awesome...I know. Thanks, though... but The Problem seems to be that (with AT&T) stability is compromised. Worth the ability for me to lose bloatware? ...especially with a highly customizable Samsung?? Questionable right now...
Still "learning."
Just wonderin' about restoring...

New T-Mobile Update Root?

So I understand that there is a new update out and I'm wanting to upgrade to it. I'm currently rooted and have xposed installed. I was wondering if I will keep root and not have to wipe my device.
If I have to re-root it, could someone please show me the steps to take? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Yes, to upgrade to the newest firmware you will lose root and more then likely have to fully wipe your phone, just make sure you back everything up. The root method is the same as when you 1st rooted your phone, but I will leave you a link to the root thread. Always try to search for the answer's before asking question's. Hope this helps you out buddy Click here

Hey bud I hope I caught you before you took the update. I would read the stock rom thread for that update. Something about not updating the bootloader . I have not taken the update as of yet so I dont know about it but here is the thread for it. You might want to ask in there before updating.
