WOOOWWWW tmobile just screwed my friend... - Vibrant General

So my friend was having problems with his phone. He said he was going to call me but wanted to see what tmobile told him to do first.
They told him to type a series of numbers in to his phone... and told him that it
"will make the phone run smoother"
What it ended up doing was completely wiping EVERYTHING off the phone ha... took him back to factory settings. deleted all his pictures and his apps and everything.
Anyone know the code he didnt write it down ha... this could come in handy some times i think.

LOL
I feel bad for ur friend.

Factory format
*2767*3855# Will format back to the beginning
then *#*#7780#*#* factory data rest.
This will really screw you up you if you have alot of custom rom on the phone
But one formats and prepare the factory reset resets all the factory settings
Never do anything like this without know from a better soruce than some 8 dollar an hour guy from T mobile LMAO !!

Honestly, it's not just T-Mo that does this, my friend soft bricked his Droid X and had to restore from a nandroid backup. He couldn't get picture messages so he called Verizon and their solution? To do a factory reset (basically the easy way out).
What was your friend's problem? Could have been him not paying attention when the T-Mo rep told him what it was going to do. Every time I've had to contact customer support whether it be it on the phone or on live chat online, they have never told me to type in a code because the problems usually on their end. (I've only called a couple times though).

ohhh his problem is the best part! NOTHING! haha
he was complaining about the standard lag that the vibrant has...
I told him before he got the vibrant it had lag problems and he was to scared to root the phone he said.. so he figured see what t mobile recommended.
Now hes going to root it so he can keep a backup... I guess this was for the best, ha.

Endless reboot...

Hey guys,
I've been lurking here ever since I got the incredible. Unfortunately, this is the first time I needed to post and it's bad news. My Incredible is rebooting more than 20 times a day, and I mean that not counting the reboot loop it gets stuck in. I have wiped the phone clean, started to go through the start up wizard, and it rebooted there, so I know it's not an bad app. It has rebooted randomly, though not as bad, before I rooted, so it's not that. I live in southern california and I get good service at home so I don't think it's the same problem as those incidents in south carolina. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? I'm running out of solutions and ready to just drop the phone, eat the ETF and go to sprint. Thanks in advance for the help.
Kiyoshi
I would flash it back to stock take it to verizon and show them what it is doing and have them send you another one, I brought mine back for the unresponsive screen issue and they said it was going to take three weeks for me to get another one but I received it 4 days later. so before switching to sprint and paying a big ETF I would try the above first. but if all else fails to ease the pain a little and not have to pay such a big ETF get a crappy verizon flip phone that you can activate on the line use it for a day or two then cancel your account. you will only pay a 175.00 ETF vs a 350.00 ETF. just a little round about way to "stick it" to the man.
Also, does downgrading and unrooting get rid of the wireless-n mod? Just downgraded and was in the wizard and right when I tried to connect to my network, it rebooted.
That's funny I just flashed it back to stock so I could do that. The problem is that I bought it from best buy in april and did not buy the extended warranty ( of course not, damn waste of money). IIRC, verizon does not honor warranties bought from a different store, correct?

if you reflash the stock ROM it wipes everything including root and wireless N, only reflash stock if you want to return it to the store otherwise you will have to go through the sd card root process again.

I am not sure if verizon won't exchange it, I think that there is a year warranty on the phone standard and extended warranty is only good for after the manufacturers warranty runs out. I would check with BB first and if they won't exchange it take it to verizon and see what they say, BB is an authorized verizon dealer so I would imagine that verizon will honor the warranty. but there is only one way to find out. Good Luck.
ok, so I took it to verizon today, and luckily for me it was rebooting away right after the CSR personally factory reset it. I actually was happy it did, too. She was so smug, telling me that I should have been using a task killer and that maybe I didn't factory reset it correctly. She starts it up and was giving me a "haha that's how you do it" look, when it rebooted on her. She battery pulled it, and then it went into a reboot loop on her. Her smug look was replaced by a look of defeat. It was worth the fact that I couldn't get it to stop rebooting for five minutes after that.
I then called 611 and they said they had a replacement for me and that it would be at my doorstep in two days. Evidently, they keep a separate stock for warranty issues. Well anyways, thanks for the help and I'll have an incredible back in my hands soon
Have u tried going into airplane mode and see if it does it? Just curious.

Haha I just read Ur last post, I find it funny cuz I work for Verizon also and man u would not believe how many reps say u need a task killer, dumbasses.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes, keeping it in airplane mode definitely helped. With that in mind, I might have an idea of what happened to my phone and potentially to other phones that have had this problem. I ordered the seidio 1750 batt. when I first got my phone, so I have been using it pretty much since the beginning. As you may know it can get unusually warm when in use. I would frequently use it when I'm at work to listen to podcasts and would keep it on the car charger while in use ( I work at a landfill doing gas monitoring, engineering, etc. so always in my work truck). That is first time I could recall a reboot occurring. I don't know how the internal layout is made up, but perhaps the radio or whatever else related received damage due to overheating. Oh well, already received my new incredible and I now have a battery charger so I will avoid charging and using at the same time. You guys are probably saying "Uh, yeah, of course that will happen, dumbass" but I've never had a problem with my other phones.

my experience trying to return my broken evo [long]

At least my conclusion is that it is broken. If at any point one of you thinks I did something wrong or there is something I can do to fix the issue, feel free to let me know.
I bought my evo sometime last year, I believe around September. I did not purchase sprint's TEP, I was content with the standard warranty and $35 repair fee if the time came. It only took me about two weeks to decide I wanted to root my phone, which I did successfully with unrevoked3. I removed bloatware with titanium backup, used setcpu, etc. and the phone worked great for a long time. I discovered rom manager soon after and tried some roms, including fresh, caulkins, cm6. I stuck with cm612 for a while and I loved it. I always cleared data before a new rom, and once I got used to the clockworkmod interface I used the cache/dalvik clear tools, as well as return the phone to factory specs feature.
Now, for as long as I remember, the phone rebooted itself unexpectedly, although it was very infrequent at first. Until about the beginning of Jan., it rebooted itself only a handful of times. It has progressed to the point where now I can't use it for more than 5 minutes without it rebooting. It will power cycle loop on the evo 4g POST screen, before android even loads. Sometimes, it will do this and stop power cycling, and simply vibrate 5 times and be unresponsive. The only way to stop this loop or the unresponsive state is the take the battery out and re-insert.
I troubleshooted as much as I could, before deciding that the issue was probably hardware related. Using the how to unroot your phone guide <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141> I unrooted the phone successfully (s-on), and loaded the original stock rom just fine. The phone still exhibited the same behavior with the stock software, so I took it to a store in Chicago a few days ago (I live in so. CA but was on vacation in Il). Anyway, I was foolish as I did not run the OTA updates to 3.7 and the tech lady told me it was happening because the phone wasn't updated. OK, my fault, even though that was a bs response.
I messed with it some more, it's still broken. So today I brought the phone to a sprint store here in CA, fully UNrooted, stock rom, updated all system updates. OTA 3.7xx, newest radios, pri, prl, profile. It is acting worse than it ever has before. I dropped the phone off and came back an hour later and the guy tells me that they reset the device and it should work now, and that I shouldn't root it as it voids my warranty. I said, how do you know it's been rooted? He replied with "our guys are really good."
So I took the phone to lunch right next door, fully stock again, and as I am logging into my google account to access the market it reboots itself again. And loops. I take it back to the sprint store and tell them look, its doing the same thing, you have completely reset it, it's not rooted, this is a problem.
Next they tell me they can't get me a replacement phone (for the $35 repair fee) because it has been rooted. I ask them to show me how they know it has been rooted, and he goes OK. He boots up my phone and one of their evos into recovery, and mine scans for the PC36IMG file and finds it. So ok, my bad again, but I say hold on a second. I took my SD card out and give the phone back. I ask them to prove to me that the phone is rooted, they try the same thing again and of course there is no difference between the phones in how they boot to recovery. Basically I press the issue further, the tech gives me some bull**** about how they can tell, if you root the phone EVER it leaves files on the phone forever. I can feel that they are lying to me, and they only know because I [foolishly] left my SD card in it as I dropped it off.
After spending about 30 minutes talking to their representatives and then about ten with the tech behind their repair center glass, he told me my only option is to talk to HTC to try and get a new phone. Mine has been red-flagged at sprint stores now for having been rooted, even though I NEVER GAVE THEM A ROOTED PHONE TO LOOK AT.
If you can't tell, i'm extremely frustrated, as my very expensive phone, on stock software and unrooted is completely useless.
Any opinions/ideas as to if 1) how I can get a replacement phone, or 2) what I have done wrong or what I can do to potentially remedy the phone?
Colin
Wow that sucks man. I know a lot of Sprint reps and almost all of them are rooted and running custom roms. I would delete the img file off of the sdcard and take it to a different Sprint store. It really depends on who you are dealing with, so try taking it to a different Sprint store if you can. If not, try to find a day where that guy isn't working lol. I'm sorry about your luck, but some people are just ridiculous.
Take to a different sprint store with a clean SD card and hope there aren't notes on the account?

Yeah, but you don't know that to actually be the case or just a scare tactic. I still say go to another store and try.
If they start talking about it being flagged on your account for being rooted, your best bet is to play dumb.

I really doubt that, I bet that is more of a scare tactic. Try what the others have said then take it to another store, you'll be fine.
So because your phone had a PC36IMG on your storage card that automatically means its been rooted? That's BS. I would call Sprint and talk to them. I would tell Sprint that you only had the file on your SD card because the phone wouldn't boot and you were trying to fix it since the store wouldn't help (the first store). When calling sprint its all in who you talk to and I always start off as nice as possible.

Yes. Like I said, I then removed my SD card and gave the phone back and asked him to show me that it has been rooted. He didnt even try, he just told me that "they know now" and that once you root "there are always files left behind" and they can always tell. I knew it was BS but they weren't giving me an inch. I was indeed very polite the whole time, while also pressing the issue.
I am pretty livid and I am almost to the point where I'd rather cancel my account then give them any more money for service.

Well I have told the computer when I first call and its asks why I'm calling I say cancel account. That will get you to someone who can actually do something. No TEP is a real downer in this case. Got another store around?

@zone
yes, there are several other stores around me with repair centers. They aren't uncommon in orange county.
Another thing I forgot to mention, at the very end of the debate with the repair tech, after he told me "there are always files left behind that we can check" after it has been rooted, I asked him to explain these files to me and if he could show me, he told me no and that "he's not allowed to tell customers that."
LOL. I don't like how the sprint representatives think they can screw with their customers like that.
To expand a little more and how different stores are. I called the store and asked what their policy was on rooted phones. They said as long as it wasn't software they didn't care. So after they couldn't fix the phone (bad ear piece) they ordered another one and told me they could only give me the replacement if I brought mine back in the original unrooted state. So that's what I did. Some of these stores just seem to have some real asses working.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G!
Of course with all that said I can somewhat understand where the stores are coming from. With all these SBC kernels and overclocking they probably think you damaged the processor. I'm not taking their side I'm just saying there are all kinds of people. The problem with rooting is you could absolutely damage the phone. Again I'm not saying this is the case just looking at it from another prospective that may help you negotiate a replacement phone.
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G!
Not sure if this will work but try rerooting then flash caulkins "format all" then reload a rom then flash new kernel and new radios, without 1.90 pri and nv see if that helps the reboot issue. i'd recommend Azreals stock turbo 3.70 rom. Had a friend with the axact same problem, this fixed it. I also reformatted his sd card while i was at it.
these techs know when a phone has been rooted. and yes they will flag your account for a rooted phone. my advice is to pay the fee they are asking.
Sorry to hear about your visit to the Sprint store...
1. It isn't illegal to root your phone any more. They passed a law not to long ago:
http://www.knowyourcell.com/news/548133/new_law_makes_jailbreaking_and_unlocking_legal.html
2. There is no way to tell if a phone was rooted. They are assuming that because you left the PC36IMG on your SD card. If the technician paid attention and seen you had it set in the off position, but that doesn't prove anything either.
3. Sounds like you got a guy that gets off being a jerk. Not the customer service type of person that Sprint needs working for them. Common sense says if you have the stock firmware back on the phone and it still is acting up, that the phone is defective. Not to endorse fraud, but if you nuked your phone or ran over it with your car and brought the pieces in, you would have been better off then being honest.
4. Your phone should still be under manufacturers warranty since the phone came out June 4th, so no way that have owned an EVO for a year yet.
5. I have found E-mailing to [email protected] seems to get results. Corporate wants to make things right, and they have the power to get things done.
Wish you the best of luck!
@zone
I can see where they are coming from as well. For morality's sake though, I can truthfully say I have never experimented with voltage modifying kernels or SBC kernels, etc. Only a few popular roms.
@ifly
If tomorrow I am still unsuccessful I will try more software options, although I am 95% positive it is a hardware issue. This is coming from a network engineer who is very familiar with hardware systems.
@fixxer
I was perfectly happy to pay them the $35 repair fee in order to get my replacement. I never said that I wouldn't. In fact at one point a sprint representative offered to do that, I said good, that is exactly what I came in for. She came back and said nevermind, I can't because it is rooted.
@weidnerj
Thanks for the link, and it sounds like we are on exactly the same page. Thanks for the contact, I will see what I can do with Dan.
I plan on trying another sprint store tomorrow to see if the phone is actually flagged.
Even if it is flagged I would tell them the phone wasn't rooted and hell I don't even know what that means. I have no idea were the other store even got that idea. Little white lie.

rooting still voids your sprint warranty & contract. that law only applies to unlocking phones to work on various gsm networks. jailbreaking isn't technically legal either on iphones.

[Q] HTC's Repair Department (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?)

I had a rooted Evo. A few weeks ago, I began experiencing random reboots, and random unmounts of my SD storage volume. I unrooted completely (with S-ON) to a stock Froyo build. I didn't even install any apps, and the problems still persisted.
So I got myself an RMA and sent the phone into HTC for repair, as it's still under warranty. I had given the phone rep a very detailed description of the issue, and also instructed them NOT TO UPGRADE TO GINGERBREAD. I also included a very visible note in the package instructing them to do the same. I even went as far to detail the issues on another sheet of paper in the package, just for peace of mind.
HTC receives the phone on a Friday afternoon. On Monday, around noon, I receive an e-mail that the phone is on its way back to me, but with no information about the resolution. I called to inquire, only to find out that they couldn't find anything wrong with my phone, and shipped it back unchanged.
I received the phone last Thursday, powered it up, and much to my dismay, those numbskulls upgraded me to Gingerbread!!! So now I can't even root my phone, and restore my app data with Titanium Backup... which I f*ckin' paid for! To make matters worse, as the phone begins to sync my contact/calendar data from Google, the phone reboots.
Way to go HTC... buncha crackerjack a$$hats!!! Your sh!tty repair process cost me:
* a week without my Evo
* $9 to ship my Evo
* Use of Titanium Backup, which I paid for
* Use of my SSH daemon, which I paid for
* Participation in the Swype 3.0 beta program (since I can't uninstall Sprint's stock Swype 2.x app)
* Ability to resize my partitions, and use A2SD. I'll probably need to ditch a few apps now.
* Obvious ability to root and customize my phone to my liking
On top of all this, my phone is still broken, and still covered under a completely useless HTC warranty.
Or.... maybe HTC is this awesome company that would refuse to return a defective product to a customer while it's still under warranty. Therefore, I can only assume the phone was damaged by FedEx... but there's no way I'm opening that can of worms.
So I just technically received a factory-refurbished phone from HTC. It's my same phone, but it went thorugh their Q.A. processes. I guess my best option is to sign up for Sprint's rip-off protection plan at $7 a month, and then pay $100 to have them replace the phone. What a sham!
Anyone got any better ideas?

Umm you HAD the better idea buddy, the freakin' Sprint protection plan. No it wouldn't have cost you $100 to fix that problem, they would've handed you a new phone with no problem. If the new/refurb phone was busted, they'd have gave you a 3rd phone, no problem.
Unless you lose it, accidentally call Asurion or severely damage the phone, then it'll be $100... or $35 if the screen is busted. Otherwise the $7 per month is all it costs.
Here's the thing not many people know about the insurance. You must sign up for it within two weeks of purchasing the phone. Otherwise, they won't add it. My friend learned that the hard way.

I've walked in and had my screen replaced for free for that little white hot spot that some people have had issues with. Left it with them for a few hours and bam, new screen no charge. Have also walked into a Sprint store to get a replacement battery cover and they just handed me one wrapped in plastic, no questions asked.
I can't imagine why one would ever want to deal with HTC directly, honestly.
Same however, after talking with tech support sprit and htc I kinda knew from past experance they just read a script. So I did not send the phone back instaed reloaded 3.7 stock RUU with old radio rerooted and now it sits on "prof the dead walk" gingerbread rooted stock. I pacitencly await the updates.
good luck

I am sorry for your loss. It's kinda like a turd wrapped inside a lollipop. You have a working phone, but you can't customize it to your liking. I hope they root GB soon. I am currently rooted running MikG 2.15. I called Sprint yesterday to ***** about the crappy 3G in my area (don't even hit 1Mbit) and they told me to take it to a corporate repair store to have it looked at. I told the lady on the phone it's not an issue with my handset, it's Sprint's crappy network. She then preceded to speak to another tech who informed her that I wasn't running the latest firmware. I assured her I was, it's just I'm rooted but was running the updated 4.24 software. She then told me I still needed to take it to a store before they would send someone to look at the towers. [email protected]&$*... I said FINE. What about me being rooted I asked. She then told me that Sprint doesn't care about rooting anymore. So I take it to a store, where the tech and the manager tell me they can't look at it because it's rooted and my warranty is voided. [email protected]&$?.. So long story short, the tech felt bad for me and wrote some notes asking them to look at the towers. I haven't called today yet to ask them to send someone to the towers, though I am dreading it.

Anytime you return a phone, just flash the stock "rooted" ROM onto the phone, freshly wiped with the SD card out of the phone.

Anytime you return a phone, just flash the stock "rooted" ROM onto the phone, freshly wiped with the SD card out of the phone.

I already had to do that with an insurance replacement.

[Q] Samsung direct support sucks worse then sprint, any advice?

So.. I've been fiddling with my phone on and off for a bit... I mostly run stock, ive tried a few roms here and there but they never made me so excited that I'd flash every version and such... I had gotten my phone from my uncle and sprint basically told me to hit up samsung for warranty. When i slide my keyboard down the touchscreen will occasion stop working.. Sometimes after rebooting from that I lose my email settings and such. I've had to odin it 2 or 3 times now to get the phone even to run after shutting it down.. so very frustrating.. So i decided to contact samsung through there online support.. seemed fast and easy... until they end and they told me to contact the galaxy s support line, they cant help over the internet :/ .... I called in at 7:10pm EST... its now 8:28.... im shocked my phone hasnt dropped the call (maybe the airrave helps ) Really samsung? really? Anyone know anyway to get a hold of samsung support quicker?
i know this is a question, but really more of a rant... Im still sitting here at 836.. and i really have to pee now... gahhh samsung! Making my bladder hurt too!
If they have a chat service, possibly that?

Yeah thats what i said I did.. here is the log
Sheila: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Visitor: Yeah, I had an Epic 4g given to me as a gift and sprint told me to contact samsung since I didnt purchase it directly from sprint
Sheila: May I know the question you have for me on Epic?
Visitor: I am having an issue where the touchscreen stops working when the keyboard is open. Sometimes the touchscreen even after closing will still not work.. I have also been losing my stored email accounts and have had to factory reset it every week or so as directed by sprint support.
Sheila: I am sorry for the inconvenience being caused to you.
Sheila: Since how long you were experiencing this issue?
Visitor: about two months now, sprint kept putting me off seeing if they would handle the warranty and they finally told me to contact samsung directly
Sheila: I see.
Sheila: Have you tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue?
Visitor: I know its less then a year old since the phone has not even been out a yar, but they didnt care since i didnt purchase directly from them myself
Visitor: Ive done a factory reset almost every week
Visitor: and they had me do something in recovery
Visitor: i also took it to the sprint store and they said they reloaded it
Sheila: I see.
Sheila: Do you have a screen protector cover on the phone?
Visitor: no
Visitor: I hate those things
Sheila: Okay.
Visitor: and it only happens after i slide the keyboard open
Visitor: to shut it down i have to hit the power button and then use the arrow keys on the keyboard
Visitor: The last time i tried pulling the battery it stopped booting and I had to take it to the sprint store
Sheila: As you have performed factory reset on the phone it clearly indicates that the issue is with the phone's hardware and it needs physical diagnosis in order to get it fixed.
Sheila: I see.
Visitor: The issue I see from your website is that this was a gift to me and I have no receipt
Sheila: However, not to worry, please file a service request for the phone, am I sure you will get it fixed by our service technician.
Sheila: You need to contact our voice support team to file service request.
Visitor: Ok
Visitor: Am i going to have to go over this with them again or is there a case number
Sheila: You need to just explain the issue and troubleshooting steps you have performed they will process you further for service request.
Sheila: You can reach them at 1-877-EZ2GALAXY (1-877-392-4252).
ok.. didnt take it to the sprint store the last time.. i odined it
well i give up with samsung... 2hrs 37minutesd on hold
Since the phone is under a year old and I'm assuming hasn't been dropped take it to a Sprint repair center, they don't care where you got it from and they should repair it for free or at most $35.
I went to sprint corporate store and repair center.. they sent me to samsung :\

yay 3.5 hours at the sprint store... about 8:55 before they were closing they gave it back and said it was fine... funny thing was that the touchscreen was not functioning with the keyboard closed and I handed it right back... tech didnt believe it... they changed my screen for $35 and it seems i have a whole new body and they put on a screen protector for me ... took them another hour.... no one liked me keeping them there to almost 10

ATT just shut down my phone, claiming it was reported stolen (internationally!)

No service, I can't even dial 611. They are not saying it went lost/stolen, they are saying the imei is on some internationally reported list of stolen devices, I suppose straight from the factory; and that seems quite unlikely. I know they have had great difficulty accurately tagging N-7000's correctly in their database, so Im guessing that is the issue at hand. That being said, it is proving quite painful; to convince Att of their own stupidity/ignorance in this matter.
Att says my imei (ending in 40000, which seems generic) was reported stolen months back and during a routine sweep they flagged me and shut me down. After hours of speaking with manager's managers, I finally convinced them I had an original bill of sale from Handcent (note to self, always make sure you go with the big brand name retailer, in case these matters turn up, I emailed Handcent at 7pm est and they got back to me, fully ready to help me by 9pm est, which is 2am in London; that's good service! Handcent you have earned me as a customer for life.
The Att rep said they'd somehow white-list my imei so this never recurs but it would take a few days.Anyone else have this come up? Any good solutions in case Att craps out on me, which I estimate at 50/50 currently? I'm currently back on my hd7 until this ugly matter corrects itself.

Should've backed up your EFS partition. Sounds like it got corrupted and your phone is now reporting Samsung's test IMEI.
That IMEI has been blocked in most countries for many months. I'm surprised it took AT&T this long.
Join the club. just make sure that you're not using the same generic imei number that got you flagged otherwise when you're calling them and reporting the case then they cannot restore service to your phone
If they act as if your the bad guy and actually stole the phone, don't accept that behavior.
Tell them straight out listen, you paid 600 dollars for your international phone from an reputable company , that wasn't subsidized by the clown circus known as att.
You are paying these animals an arm and a leg every month for substandard service.
Don't lash out on them though. This is one scenario that you don't want them writing notes on your account not helping you.

Mine is not the same issue but thought I'd mention anyway. Wednesday I went to make a call and I got a recording that I was blocked from making calls. I'm on straight talk. Never messed with efs folder and always keep backup. Called them, gave them my phone number and all was fine afterwards.
Don't know what the hell that was about.

Att are run by scumbags.
Sometimes I feel we would get better treatment if we paid for service overseas in Asia and add an international plan for use in the US

This same thing happened to me. Yesterday (Sunday) I meet up with a friend who tells me that he's been trying to call me for the past hour. So I try to make an outgoing call, and I hear a message that the device has been blocked. I've had the same phone for 2 years.
So I call ATT and after a half hour of discussion, they unblock it (in the conversation, the agent asked if I had put my SIM card in an iPhone 3gs recently, because the system showed that I tried to use a reported-as-stolen 3gs. Of course I didn't, I said.) A couple test calls/SMS and I'm back online, plus they gave me a $25 statement credit. I asked theym if they know who/when/how it was reported as stolen, because I never did. They said they would investigate, and set up an alert to email me if my service was disconnected again.
Anyway fast forward to 9PM and I realize that I've been blocked again. No e-mail alert. I call ATT again, explain it all again, and they unblock me again, and give me another $25 statement credit. Ok, I thought.. Annoying but whatever.
11PM. No service yet again!! At this time I'm super frustrated, wanting to go to sleep, but worried about missed calls and whatnot (when they disconnect it like this, it doesn't even go to voicemail, and all SMS sent to you are lost forever). So I call again and ask directly to speak to a manager/floor supervisor.
She explains to me that the phone has been blacklisted as a stolen device, and that they are investigating and should come to a conclusion in 24 hours. I ask what I'm supposed to do in the meantime. She says that she can reactivate it, but it will get automatically blocked again, so unless I have another device, she can't do much for me.
Really, ATT? 7 years with these clowns and they come up with this garbage now... 2 years with this phone, no SIM card change, no hardware change ever, and they decide that it was all of a sudden reported stolen, but they can't come up with an explanation as of how.

Check your IMEI to see if you have EFS corruption. If your EFS is corrupt and your phone is reporting the generic/default IMEI, AT&T will block you.
When I first bought my Note, I didn't know there were two different models because I didn't get on XDA right away and all. So, I bought it and went to ATT and they typed the IMEI number in and could NOT get it to activate. They were very confused and said its weird because the boot logo looks different. Finally, he said that I should contact Samsung and see if they would flash a new firmware to it. Wow, crazy. He went ahead and activated my account for LTE (because of the ATT Note).
So, when I got home I started researching everything and found out about the two models. I messed around and got it working and it has been working great ever since with no problems from ATT.

Same exact thing happened to me. I have been using a generic imei since the Note came out to get around att blocking it when they saw it as a tablet. I have been using it for 18 months no problem then 2 weeks ago I get it blocked. I go in and they say it was reported stolen, which was incorrect and they unblock it. Yesterday I get blocked again , go back in and they fix it. Blocked again this morning. I call in and they say the Imei is blocked( exact words were stolen). Revert back to original IMEI and all is good.
Same here
Got suspended yesterday without any notification. Had a chat with the support to re-activate my account. Roll back to my original EFS folder and seems to be fine for the moment.
