Google I/O 2010
This application is a great resource for Google I/O 2010 Conference goers.
*Look at the schedule
*Look through detailed session info
*Look through info about companies in the Developer Sandbox
*Look at a conference map
*Take notes on sessions
Looks pretty interesting....
downloaded.
This app is perfect for people that are attending.
Posted in the wrong section....
Does it mention anything about what they are going to talk about at the event?
I don't have a use for this app, but I must say... it is one of the better UI's I have seen.
Just downloaded the app. Very impressive. Even has a section to take notes for every session. Man I wish I was going!
And just in case people are interested in checking out the keynotes:
[Streaming] Live, from Google I/O!
5/06/2010 12:00:00 PM
More than 4,000 developers will be joining us at Google I/O on May 19-20, and if we had the capacity, we’d host many more. In order to give the entire developer community a chance to participate live, we're happy to announce that both keynote presentations will be streamed live. To watch, just go to http://www.youtube.com/GoogleDevelopers at the start of the keynotes each day. We recommend watching on a high-speed connection for the best quality.
Here’s the schedule for the keynotes at I/O — it’s also available on our agenda page:
* Day 1 Keynote: Wednesday, May 19, 9:00 -10:30am PT
* Day 2 Keynote: Thursday, May 20, 8:30-10:00am PT

I'm in marketing and I hope for Samsung FR's sake that's just a viral video. It's cool but it could be for a monitor, PC, television, or a dozen other things. The consumer retention of what product that's for would be close to zero.
such a irrelevant add.

Nice add. Almost makes me wanna buy another one.
actually i loved the add..
I can see how it's not apparent until the end what it's advertising, but if it was shown in cinemas (since it's too long for a TV commercial) a lot of people would want to look the video up on Youtube later, thereby giving them a ton of other Galaxy S II info in the Related Videos on the right.
Sometimes I think that's all that is needed. The Galaxy S is popular enough for the name to be recognisable and not need introduction, so the act of presenting displaying a Galaxy S II, even for a few seconds, should get people talking or interested enough to Google it in their own time.
That ad is sick!

I bought it today and I think it sucks. I just cant leave swype. Its too good.
But I did buy Minecraft. If you have friends that will link up with you (works with iphone) over wifi then its an insanely fun game. Even alone its a good time waster and just a fun way to be creative. Glad that I waited to buy it though because the regular price is 7$. Deal win.
Edit: I can only pray for titanium backup to show on this list
I like swype also, but I like how swift key predicts words. There are a few things I need to get used to with it, but overall I think I go faster on it. Also I hate how swype picks up incorrect spellings and continues to throw those out as what you wanted to say.

This is quite off topic, but according to the news, the US will be experiencing a Solar Eclipse Sunday all over the country around noon (not specified). They say it will look like a black circle with a ring of fire around it. From what I knew, I thought it was a white ring or maybe this is a special one. But anyways, everyone just look out for everything going dark and go check out this rare event. The last one in the US was 18 years ago.
CORRECTION: Got some incorrect info. It should be around night time for most of the US but around 5PM-6PM for the West Coast. And this is a very unique Solar Eclipse. Its actually an Annual Eclipse. The moon will not cover the sun completely causing it to look like a red ring of fire unlike a standard eclipse which is only a white looking circle.
Kewl, thanks for the info!

Not really the ring of fire solar eclipse happens every 18 years like clockwork lol not real hard to predict, I predict it will happen in 2030, which is when it will occur again, does that make me some kind of prophet?

The Calender ending not what its about. Its the end of a cycle. There will be an awakening on that day. Another theory by the Mayans is that we will have a visit from the lords of the stars.

The annual eclipse? Because most people lived way longer than 17 years old and its not hard to predict the previous generations seeing.it every 18 years.. and no predictions have been correct. People add things to the calendar after the event has happened. Did anything happen in 2000? Nope? 9/11 wasn't on the calendar until after the event. It's a fake prediction.

Lol really? They had a calander obviously, not hard to mark down the event each time it occurs and then track it across multiple generations to see it occurs on a pattern. They were pretty good with math. That's like saying how did they build the temples they didn't have the tools and none of them were architects. And the end of the Mayan calander only coincides with the end of a solar/lunar cycle it completely meaningless other than it's time for a new cycle to begin. Any and all predictions made by anyone, Mayans, Nostradamus, etc are purposefully generic enough that any similar event can claim the prediction came true.

So how is this any different?

Well I'm not one of the sheep that believe in any of that crap, no worlds end predictions no magic bearded man on a cloud granting wishes. I'd believe the ninja turtles and transformers were real first any and all organized religions are the exact same stories regurgitated over and over with different names and places attached if you actually read all of the books(I have) there are so many contradictions in them I can't believe anything in the books are more than just stories, not that I don't believe in a God just not the ones from any of the books

I can drop the religion bombshell. But there's no arguing with it. People decide to follow the teachings of a book that one man claimed God told him.. anyone can say that and back in the middle ages everyone was claiming God says this and that. I'm not saying ANYONE'S religion is incorrect, I'm just saying anyone can say anything and just because someone in the past said something, it doesn't matter besides a historical standpoint? I can say the world will end in the year 3000 on some stone and future generations will freak out.. the myans I think have only predicted one think correctly out of countless.. when you predict so many things, one out of all of them are bound to be correct.. and for anyone who thinks, we aren't arguing, we are seriously discussing lol..
But anyways, guys, come on, A BADASS RING OF FIRE SOLAR ECLIPSE and the last was 18ish years ago.. its going to be amazing

I wouldn't say anyone is wrong for believing whatever the believe, I just don't believe in the book versions of things, thousands of years of stories combined and edited into one book doesn't not a believer make me, since the Christian version has been called the bible its already been translated, edited and revised hundreds if not more times, so if it was the word of god the meaning has been lost along the way. Remember that game "telephone" by the time you get to the end of the line whatever was originally said doesn't even exist anymore and a whole new phrase comes out, try that in dozens of languages across thousands of years and different cultures and see what happens. A good example of why I don't follow organized religion is Scientology didn't even exist 50 or 60 years ago and now its a recognized religion with all the protections and tax exemptions to boot its sad nothing is really sacred anymore, I think I'm gonna start the church of the android and get me a tax exempt status . The ring of fire solar eclipses are cool, I have some photos of the last one taken with a telephoto lens and a solar filter in one of my photo albums somewhere. Yeah I'm old enough to have seen and remember the last one, they are one of the only solar eclipses you can look at with the naked eye, most others you need a filter to see so you don't go blind and so you can actually see the eclipse cuz they are caused by a. Venus or mercury and not the moon

Anyone here has any info on why there are not many reviews or hands on by any of the tech sites? We had more leaks and even reviews before the handset was released but even after 4 days of official announcement, there has not been much coverage about the device. Most of the tech sites only talk about the specs. That looks a little odd. Maybe there is some restriction on publishing reviews of the device till 13th?
Most likely the sites got their phones after the reveal on noonday, Androidcentral has got their unit and they were the ones who broke news about the GLONASS feature . Thus they need a couple of days to try it, probably under NDA until Google says so. They will probably time it with the delivery on the 13th or 17th or whenever it is supposed to launch they want to spread the hype over time to create mindshare and pick up some space in the news-cycle.

I read on a review site (forget where) that Google put a restriction that no official reviews can be published until this Friday... I think they want everyone to try the device for a longer period of time, which is better for us in the long run...

The reason is there was a huge hurricane on the east coast that caused Google to cancelled the press event in New York.

I think Google put an NDA on reviews till Friday, or at least one week, allow reviewers some quality time, get a good feel for the phone after a full week. Not just 24 hours.

This is exactly why. If you read the Android Police teaser review, you'll notice he says he had to run somewhere in New York to pick up the review phone Google had. These are the phones they'd have handed out if the press event had happened as planned, but with Hurricane Sandy cancelling the event, things have been thrown a little off-track. I'm ok with that, too, because the reviewers will have more time with the phone and can give us a more in-depth review.
Patience...
