I'm trying to get a korean locale for my dad to use on his new verizon galaxy tab.
Anybody know how to get this done? Do I have to flash a new firmware on it? And if so, do you know which firmware is going to have Korean in it and also work well?
Not at all experienced with the samsung line, and so I thought I might as well post on here before trying something stupid.
Thanks

You just need to change locale from setting. At least tmobile version has korean locale.

Gah!!! I knew my dad should've gotten the tmobile version instead of verizon.
I hope someone ROMS this to vanilla version, cause morelocale 2 app works with vanilla.

Is there a specific reason all custom roms are not for GT sprint users?. Thanks!!!

If your asking why you cant flash a rom like overcome or something gsm
Each carrier has thier own crap on the tab plus there is a differance between types. Sprint is for instance cdma, while att is gsm. You can not flash a gsm rom on cdma. Breaks your tab.

Thanks for the info!! Is there a reason the DEVS only develop for gsm?
Bad news - most devs have gsm tabs. Personally I think this was a conspiracy that goes all the way to oboma. Good news - the one overclock and voodoo kernal we have is actually sweet as shiatzu. It is for vzn and sprint. Also the roms for vzn are very sound. Not sure about sprint there.

Is there a toggle in the AT&T version to switch from 3G to 4g.
Negative

WTF why does AT&T never include this? Didn't include it on one x either.

Sure but it's such a basic function it should just be default. It actually IS default on most manufacturers stock roms, but AT&T actually removes it. For example, Canadian One XLs have the ability to turn LTE off. AT&T version does not. Absolutely ridiculous for AT&T to go out of its way to remove that feature.

Every ROM needs to have this built in.
I agree. It should be basic. This is whack.

So it looks like you would be able to turn lte off when you connect to wifi? That would be great. If you have to configure it someone would have to tell me how to do it because i'm a ra-tard.
I'm getting a bell gs 3 and I am wondering if anyone knows of a good forum for Canadian variants. Do people mostly stick to these boards. AMD has anyone with a Canadian I747 tried rooting yet with the att root.

Just got mine today too. No plans to root yet. Coming from a desire hd, this phone is awesome. I'm sure I'll get bored, and root it in a few weeks.

Got the bell version, model number is SGH-I747M, am pretty sure its the same as the AT&T version, and usually all the canadian gsm hardware is compatible with AT&T, inlcuidng 3g and hspa+/LTE frequencies
Picked up mine from Bell today, planning to root it for ad block and titanium back up etc
Are the 32gb Telus, Bell and Rogers ones released already or only 16gb?

I bought the 16 gb I747 s III and rooted it using a step by step tutorial from zedomax
Just go to galaxys3root .com and you there will be instructions for sprint/tmobile/at&t which are the same phones that the canadian carriers received.
Mine was from telus though.
Worked fine, should be no problems
Using this method, do you keep stock recovery. I want to root so I can use adb to pull stock kernel and stock recovery and i will make them into cwm zips.

thanks for the link. i'm gonna try rooting now to be able to use root explorer, setCPU (until kernel is modified), and titanium backup and restore the data of all my games & settings. i just got my phone yesterday without a preorder. got a 32gb pebble blue. can't wait for jellybean now... mainly for the fluidity and the offline maps.

never mind.. just found out offline google maps is already available for the s3. can only download 100MB of maps though.. still covers all of calgary and some.
Honestly im not sure. Im pretty sure that it changes the kernel though.

It's not ready, besides before it can be sent out to carrier branded models the carrier adds their bloat and approves the update. Ultimately making those who have carrier models wait longer
The Developer Edition obviously isn't branded so once it's ready the update will be released
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Ultimately I think its good because it will get 4.3 dev ed out soon for the developers to use as a base for roms...
Won't help those of us that have Sprint devices as we'll have to wait for a Sprint version to come out but maybe the Verizon 4.2.2 can be used...
MG
HTC's US President also says that they want EVERY US model running 4.3 by September. Good news.

Yey. ARHD Sense will definitely be running 4.3. Or maybe we can flash the RUU too. They still haven't given a RUU for 2.24 and I'm stuck with custom ROMS. ; -;

I always hear people say this. What does the carrier have to do with it? They don't change anything on the ROM except maybe some connection settings. All they have to do is make sure the new radio firmware still works on their network and approve it.
Or maybe things are done differently in the states. Here in Canada all HTC One's are like the Dev edition. I have never experienced this "carrier bloat"

Yeah US carriers do more extensive testing and stuff with these. I used to do device and update testing at a carrier and because US networks are crap and a hodgepodge of standards and what works in LA without many changes doesn't work as easily in NY without some network adjustments.
Then there is the carrier bloat issue that they want all their garbage on them and then that too has to be tested, etc...
No excuses as they take too long and load too much on devices, just explaining why it takes so long...
MG
So do you think USA will get 4.3 before Europe and Asia? If so would devs change their base or wait?

They perform quality control and testing. It's a VERY long and tedious engineering process trust me.
So not only does it run through HTC but also the carriers right after.

I definitely believe that areas outside the US will get it first. The only thing I want from AT&T is the firmware. All the software is virtually the same minus the fact our carriers overload it with bloat.
Glad I went S-Off on my Developer Edition and flashed the 3.06 already.
To all those saying "testing" is the reason 4.2.2 is delayed... why is it available for branded phones then? I don't understand why bloated versions have 4.2.2 already while the Developer Edition doesnt? They are essentially the same phone. If "testing" is the reason, why flashing 3.06 to my Developer Edition hasn't given me any problems?

Exactly... base Android 4.2.2 was a fix to a bad release. Its fairly common that although 4.2 brought some of the coolest new features it was buggy as hell and had some deeply ingrained issues. 4.2.1 & 4.2.2 were both bug fixes , with neither fixing the root issues.
I prefer they move to 4.3. For being a new release it is very very solid and a worthy stable release to launch KLP from. Similar to the 2.3.5-7 to 4.0 jump.

Yes. Here in the states these carriers are crazy. Especially Verizon. They're the top US carrier. They add like useless apps to your phone.
The issue is carriers want to make sure that the phone complies with what they want on their network. Their wants are pretty trivial. They're just expressing their power.

Will the 4.3 update come to Unbranded USA HTC One 32 gb too?
I mean 'software' updates in the title, not suggested.
I have the S7 edge from Tmobile, the 935T variant.
Does anyone know for sure if this will work in other countries, like in Asia, after I get it unlocked by T-Mobile. Also, since T-Mobile sends the software updates, will I still get them and will there be any problems because of that?
