X10 charging LED override - XPERIA X10 General

I am happy with 2.1, but unhappy how the charging LED works. I would like a way to have system messages such as incoming SMS notification override the constant green charging LED. In 1.6 the LED would at least turn off when charged, so the LED would flash for part of the day. I leave my phone charging all day at work.

Have you tried "blink" from the market? Not sure if it over rides whilst charging but I will look into it and report back

I will look it up as well. It really makes no sense to me why LED doesn't override for actual messages over charging notification. Should at least be something in the options.
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk

Definitely... its pretty obvious when your charging your phone so I don't see why the LED notifies anyway? There may be a file within build.prop or something that can be "tweaked" ill google it to..
With both of us on the case we should be able to fix it somehow

Perfect... look up "always flash" by dev neilandtheresa in the market. For rooted phones and sounds like its perfect!

Lol, well my phone isn't rooted. Just the stock Rogers 2.1 rom. But you are right. Makes no sense to me why it would stay solid green when charge is complete.

Take a look at this, available free on the market to root your phone "z4root" you can unroot whenever you like too. People root their phones for all different reasons (huge bonus is the power to uninstall system apps, like quadrop!) system app remover free from the market works. Plus many other cool apps like ones to make the flash on the camera a bright torch

Is that app trustworthy? Lol, I'm scared if third party apps that do anything significant to the phone!
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk

Tried that z4root thing. I didn't have data after temp root but forgot to check my APN. So maybe mine was removed. Kinda scared to try again as there's no option to unroot. It kept re-saying to root. Uninstalled out of fear..haha also after, no busybox was installed like it said.

There talking about the second WiMAX led.
I've never seen the LED pertaining to 4G. Even when turned on but not connected.
I can only get it to flash using the widget mentioned in the first post too. I am in a 4G area.

You can get it to flash by running these commands via terminal emulator:
Code:
su
echo 1 > /sys/class/leds/wimax/brightness
To turn it off replace the 1 with a 0.
Is there any way i can make that led blink when i get a text like an app or something o ya and im not rooted.
I'm working on an app that makes use of this for incoming texts...stay tuned!

Samsung Galaxy S trick:Change brightness with a simple swype!!!

Yes it works!
You can change the brightness from the home screen without change any option or install any application.
Press on the notification bar (not open it) and after shows up with the date, just swype left or right to adjust the brightness!!!
Here is my video on youtube to see how it works:

Welcome to 2010 lol. (sorry!).
I think the correct way to do it is just to hold an area on the notification bar (not swype). left is less bright, right is more bright. (at least on latest fws it works like this).
This has been known since éclair. You must have auto brightness off for it to work though.
Thanks for sharing anyway, original thread has probably been lost in the folds. I'm sure there are plenty of new sgs users on here all the time. It is still one of the best smartphones on the market today, and now it's dirt cheap.

Just rooted the phone today and DL'd TiBu and am looking for the process that causes the volume to decrease with that ridiculous 'Listening at full volume may cause your head to explode' stupid A warning so I can freeze the thing. Tired of constantly having to increase the volume to full when listening to music and then that stupid warning popping up. What is that process called so I can freeze its azz???

Well, that didn't work. The only thing it changes is no notification it's dropping the volume. It still IS dropping the volume about a third down. That is what I want to prevent, not necessarily the notification that it's doing it but the volume drop. Any ideas how to stop it from dropping the volume when I use Google Music, PowerAmp, Pandara, etc???

I use tasker for that. As soon as I plug headphones in I have it set to move volume to max. I've never found another way unfortunately.

That's one thing I miss about my old Razr Maxx, the Moto task manager that allowed me to change values during certain times of day or during certain actions. Does Tasker work pretty well doing that?? I'll charge my phone overnight at times and when it hits 100% it turns the screen on and it never goes off. And the volume is full blast at night and I'll get a task and I'll nearly jump out of my socks when it sounds.

Light Flow update???

Hi,
I am wondering if any of you guys use Light Flow on the 6P and if you updated in the last day or so? I update it last night and a persistent notification is now in my notification bar and will not remove itself.
FYI the persistent notification thing is unselected in light flow (see attached).
Any ideas? Any of you experience the same thing???

I looked in the play store and there are many people complaining the new update is showing the persistent icon and no way to disable it.
Also you could go to settings and go to apps and try this:
settings>Apps>notifications>Block all
see if that resolves it

thanks for the reply, but if i block all notifications, i then get no notifications at all from light flow.
The developer is aware of the situation. Unfortunately it is a Marshmallow issue. He is working on a "legacy" app that will deal with the persistent notification. If you check the reviews in the play store he has replied to the recent complaints. On a side note it is situations like this that has taught me to not immediately update an important app without reading the reviews for a few days. Either that or have a titanium backup handy if the updated app is not playing nicely!

Here's Reactle's blog post on the persistent notification and other changes for Marshmallow: http://www.reactle.com/2015/10/changes-for-android-6-marshmallow.html
Basically, they were exploiting a flaw in the OS itself to gain control of the LED without a notification or root. That flaw has been fixed, and now without having that persistent notification LightFlow will crash.

White LED?

Anyone else notice the white led that lights up while charging?
I wonder if this could be RGB as well and light up with other colors?
Perhaps someone can bring a tweak or mod that can activate the LED for notification purposes?
Just wanted to get this thread started for anyone also interested in this happening. I hope a Dev can come forth and make it a reality!
This has been mentioned. I am not rooted yet but I wonder if anyone has tried the Light Flow app from the play store to see if it works.
I am rooted, and have tried lightflow. Unfortunately it reports that the LED is white only. :crying:

No, I could not get it to have any control over the LED. I tried the legacy version as well, and direct mode and also granting su (all suggestions from the author of the app). Nothing worked.

I don't think so. It's pretty much the same led that was on the 3rd gen Moto and it's not much use for anything actually useful.
