Light Flow update??? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am wondering if any of you guys use Light Flow on the 6P and if you updated in the last day or so? I update it last night and a persistent notification is now in my notification bar and will not remove itself.
FYI the persistent notification thing is unselected in light flow (see attached).
Any ideas? Any of you experience the same thing???

I looked in the play store and there are many people complaining the new update is showing the persistent icon and no way to disable it.
Also you could go to settings and go to apps and try this:
settings>Apps>notifications>Block all
see if that resolves it

thanks for the reply, but if i block all notifications, i then get no notifications at all from light flow.

The developer is aware of the situation. Unfortunately it is a Marshmallow issue. He is working on a "legacy" app that will deal with the persistent notification. If you check the reviews in the play store he has replied to the recent complaints. On a side note it is situations like this that has taught me to not immediately update an important app without reading the reviews for a few days. Either that or have a titanium backup handy if the updated app is not playing nicely!

Here's Reactle's blog post on the persistent notification and other changes for Marshmallow: http://www.reactle.com/2015/10/changes-for-android-6-marshmallow.html
Basically, they were exploiting a flaw in the OS itself to gain control of the LED without a notification or root. That flaw has been fixed, and now without having that persistent notification LightFlow will crash.

AT&T Software started updating on its own? V42_1_1303_0_5

So I was hanging up on a call and noticed that in the "ongoing" notification, it said"device management - downloading software update, please do not" and had a little notification icon on the bar of 2 arrows facing opposite directions grey/blue one red. I tried to click the notification but got nothing, so I long press and looked at app info. It said AT&T software update Version v42_1_1303_5_1. I have tried searching this exact version number but nothing comes up on here or on google. I shut the phone off until further notice so I can see if this update is going to screw me in any way. Right now I am just rooted w/ TWRP recovery, but I don't want to do anything that locks this phone up. 32gb AT&T S4.
Thanks
EDIT: scratch that, i had written down the version number incorrectly, it is trying to download v42_1_1303_5_1 (not _0_5). Still, does this mess things up bad? trying to read that now.
Also, the watch on app out of nowhere is now putting its remote in the notification pull down at start up without me even touching the application. I like the app and use it from time to time but I havent touched it in a few days and now it is auto-starting on its own, strange.
Hey, I noticed the watch on app doing the same thing on mine. I didn't realize I got an update but my phone did do an unexpected reboot and watch on was running in my notification tray also.

It's just a theory, but it sounds like "Samsung Push" services might be doing some updating for you.

[Q] Help removing malware

I don't know what this came with but has anyone seen this random popup when opening app drawer or google voice - it'll also bring up Heroes of Dragon age from the play store randomly. How do I get rid of it? Thanks. Sorry, I don't know how to resize images.

they look more like ads... Do you remember which app you installed before they started appearing?
Try uninstalling that app... It may solve your issue...

that shouldn't be too hard..
If I am correct, the new apps are placed last in touchwiz... try going back in that order....
I will recommend making a list of apps using list my apps or similar app so that u can install the apps that were removed in the process here..
u can also check recently updated apps in my app section in Google play, that may also be doing that..
good luck!!

WIFI Calling now available

This morning I received an ota that enables wifi calling. It's about time AT&T gave us this feature. Not sure what else was in the ota but I'm sure they patched the security holes that everyone has been talking about lately. There's no information available yet but as soon as I find it I'll post it. Screenshots show ota software version and wifi calling.

Thanks for letting me know I never would have noticed that since I use a 3rd party launcher I'll have to check it out [emoji41]
Edit: The app drawer is still not available on mine but that's ok I never use the stock launcher anyway

AT&T cloud backup for SMS/MMS with default messaging app. It was syncing all day on my BFs G5 until I turned it off after work. He said it kept killing his battery. (I'd hate to see what the data is on his line too thankfully he was home on Wifi the majority of the day) It completely borked MMS on my S7 edge when AT&T pushed the update, had to install Google messenger to get a picture to come through or be received. It probably failed 70-80% of the time. May want to keep an eye on that if you use the default messaging app.

Has anyone figured out if you can disable this entirely unnecessary and incredibly annoying persistent notification about "mobile data not enabled" now? I didn't want to update and now I'm forced to deal with this ****. No.

Mine too i also have this problem

App Edge notification

My wife owns a S7 Edge. She loves the device and edge features. Problem is, she receives notifications within the edge panel that won't go away. I've done everything short of a factory reset to no avail. The app in question is Google messenger. Any help would be appreciated.

Does she have a notification on the regular app icon too(not the one in the edge panel)? I sometimes have a lingering notification on the Google Messenger icon, haven't figured out much to do about it. But sometimes i just go thru and open my message threads one by one, just to ensure that I have indeed read all the messages lol. Sometimes that fixes it because maybe there was a message that I actually never officially read. Or even if i did read them all, just opening the threads sometimes makes the notification go away.

No. Only in the edge panel. Not only have I opened every message thread, I've deleted them, cleared its cache, uninstall and reinstalled. I've even cleared the edge panel cache and data. As a last resort, I cleared the device's cache through recovery (stock). Nothing seems to work.
By the way, I'm running 7.0 nougat official

Unwanted popup

My phone is stock, no changes other than a few apps have been disabled.
I am getting an unwanted popup after I receive a call. It wants me to install Instagram, or another program. I have scanned with Malwarebytes but it finds no viruses.
Any help in getting rid of this appreciated. Please see the attachment.
Thanks.

Do you have ES File Explorer (think I see it in the background)? Try uninstalling that app and see if the ads persist. ES File Explorer may be presenting adverts and popups.
Thanks, but that did not work. Onto the next guess!
are you using a custom launcher? some of them provide ads on your ohone.. also try removing any apps that are known for showing popups
Chinese apps tend to have overlays like that, especially those cleaning/boosting apps. Get rid of those and see.
When it pops up, do you see anything more in the expanded notification bar? If yes, then press and hold on it and tap on "app info/detail". From there you can see which app is displaying these pop ups and disable notifications.
Thanks, Using ADW. Removed and still there.
Don't have any of those, but good guess.
No way to expand the notification nor any way to get more information. Talked to Motorola support and they had me clean the cache and that did nothing either.
Last case resort, start uninstalling apps one by one with the newest one first. When the pop ups stop, you've found the problem.

Prior to using the last resort method provided by riggerman, you can view how much data/wifi each app is using that is currently installed on your device. This can be done by navigating to network info in your settings. Then simply compare that data to which app is eating up your memory at the time of the pop up. A more in depth method would to use an app that is designed to gather in depth data on installed apps specifically for the user, such an app would be Android Addon Detector available in the Play Store (link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector). I wont write up the way to do it cause I don't have that kind of time at the moment, and it'll do you good to teach yourself given the internet and the app FAQ and developers site because knowledge is power, and knowledge also helps to quickly deal with little piece of bull**** that land on your path in life, such as annoying popups
Removed 2 backup apps and seems to have gone away, thanks.
Had the same popup problem. I said STOP in response it has gone away.
