I was on break with some coworkers and we were all adding each other on Facebook. They both had I phones and I had my EVO. One of them could not get a signal in the break room, the other had one bar and was on EDGE but it was super slow. I had 4 out of six bars and 3g. I turned on the hotspot and they all connected over wifi and was impressed with how fast their phones were going being connected to mine. They started asking me what else my phone can do and I gave them a nice demo of the EVO and the benefits of root. One is for sure is dumping Att because of the lousy EDGE coverage and the other was still trying to justify her iPhone, Maybe a few more hotspot sessions she might realize what she's missing out on.
I just thought I share this story with y'all.
Nice!

What ARE the "first" eye-catching benefits you show off? When comparing your Evo to iPhone? What about to people about rooting?
I ask this because when I get in discussions like that, it's not like we need the tethering or anything at that time, and I feel dumb showing them the HTC Sense UI and all that when they just reply "Well my iPhone does the same sliding back and forth" blah blah..
So what apps/features do you think really makes an iPhone user go ".. wow.. damn that's cool." ??
I let two iphone users tether last week due to their lack of signal lol

Angry Birds.
I turned someone to the evo last night my self told him about the 8mp cam that shoots 720p video and the front facing camera that can do video calls without haveing to be on wifi, and the much larger screen with an awesome 480p display that although doesn't compare the the Iphone4 in color resoution it still kicks its ass with its bright wvga oled screen. My brother on the other hand is a different story he is so far apples ass i don't know where steve jobs ends and my brother begins

thats a really good story OP. i got into an argument with a buddy about iphone vs android(it's never-ending). I started to gain the upper hand when i explained that i could customize my kernel, rom, menus, launchers, icons etc to my exact needs. then i lost ground when i showed him my layout(which is using iphone-esque icons) and he accused me of trying to imitate the best. i tried to explain that i simply liked the uniform look of similar icons and that iphone was NOT the first to use these, but it was too late.
point is, we're most like always gonna be "at war" with the iSheep. i love hearing a story where an EVO shows them up! nice work.

This.
<rant>
Just because I use icons that resemble an iPhone does not mean that I want an iPhone. It's simply that it is much more aesthetically pleasing to have your icons match in shape, size, design, etc. It also makes usability better by more easily identifying the icons based on color.
</rant>
Anyways, good story! Sorry to kind of thread-jack hah
I usually do the "widget" thing.....Iphone can't compare. I want to change my "style", I can change it via sense.....easy, I can add and remove whatever I want....Iphone can't compare. And as for signal, AT&T sucks where I am at, so that's an easy win
But if you really and to impress them, show them your monthly cell phone bill
I hate iPhone users..well not really. I love the people, but hate the attitude they develop when talking about their iDevice. It's ridiculous. Me being on Android they are so quick to talk about how the iPhone is killing Android...even though all evidence points to the opposite. Once I bring that up then they want to talk about interface and whatnot...which is dumb, what's more customizable than an Android phone?
Nobody wants to give credit to Android, a platform that started from nothing not to long ago, the iPhone came out a year before the first android device but the iPod and Mac lineup has been out for far longer and it's a pain in the ass that people don't want to give Google credit because they just came out with their first device 2 years ago and now they are kicking ass.
Now I just put the Android v Apple debate in a category along with debating Music and Politics. Everyone thinks they know everything about those subjects and that's why they argue...even if they dont know anything themselves, they'll just begin repeating waht they heard someone say a while ago and then the debate goes nowhere. I just find it easier to agree with the iPhone users when they bash Google and Android. Since they don't know much themselves they can only say a few things against Android and once you agree, argument over.
Most off these arguments are against AT&T and not the iPhone itself. Either way it's pretty much a given that Verizon is getting the iPhone now, what then?
One last thing, how many of you pay fort tethering? None of you? You all root? Guess what? You can jail break a iPhone and get free hotspot tethering too.

Just the fact that my phone provided them service where att failed them miserably was the main thing that caught their attention and of course the bigger screen. These were not techy people like us, and for the record, besides the typical stock apple apps they had the same 3rd party apps I did: angry birds, blackjack, Skype, Facebook App, aim, etc. I wowed them with music junk 3, ADW launcher, set CPU, swarm, Sprint hotspot, and adfree Android. I did mention that rooting the phone allowed me to remove all the sprint bloatware. Yea I know i was kinda giving them a sales pitch but I did make the iPhone look obsolete and limited IMO.

You can jailbreak a iPhone and get many of the things you just mentioned (widgets, ad blocking, torrent clients, over clocking, hotspot).
Usually a video call over 3g shuts them up... But if not i go to www.mobilespeedtest.com and show them how my 3g is 2-3 times faster than theyre's and 4g is 10 times faster, Custom launchers (launcherpro), ADW, Netfront, Soundhound finds songs in 2-3 seconds theyre app takes 20-30 seconds, change my camera setting, widgets there are many things the iPhone cannot do and the EVO or android period can do but alot of them like smaller phones so EVO is out or just the name "i have an iPhone"... I have an iPhone and and EVO i perfer my EVO no question but the iPhone is nice very smooth but boring i get bored easily with my EVO im flashing a new ROM everyday if i find a nice one ill stay for a few days i dont use my iPhone anymore its a 3GS dosent even have a charge been dead for months

I know that, but of course I didn't tell them that. But you still can't justify the 5gb cap, dead zone, and having to use my SPRINT EVO ANDROID PHONE hotspot just to make the iphone functional in the break room.

AT&T's 3G network is 80% HSPA+ meaning that you can get 3-5 Mbps on the iPhone 4 like you can here where I live. Video calling over 3G? You can: 1) Jailbreak and use Facetime over 3G, or 2) Use Fring, Tango, or Yahoo video chat over 3G without jail breaking.

What sort of apps are you looking for?
The Apple App Store has many thousands of choices but for every good one there are probably 2 or 3 bad ones.
The long established WinMo app sites like PocketGear and Handango have pretty much anything you could need, but lack the easy download/installation that the MS and Apple App stores offer.

just for that reason i bough me an iriver instead of ipod
I have a few friends who have the iphone. I quite like the iphone and what it has to offer.
I bought a HD2 though so you know where my preference is but the iphone is ok. I enjoy all technology.
To answer your question would I kill them (my friends that is). No.

Makes me wonder why those apps are not finally put into the MS Store...does not matter to us - but for casual users - they will not want to search for aforementioned websites.
Another issue is the price. I am not willing to pay $20-$30 for PPC apps. The iPhone app store is mostly 99c. And what WM is missing are those LITTLE apps - restaurant finder, train schedule etc. They are so simple, yet not available. I mean on the iphone they are basically nothing more than simple webservices hidden in an app. I mean they query some website, which saves you going to the website and just opens an app. I think it would be great if we had more of that kind. If MS put more effort into filling the app store i think prices would go down, too, as more people would buy the apps, there would be no need to keep a high price to make decent profit.
HD apps
I choose the HD2 over the iphone because HD2 gives you much greater control over your phone and what you can do and install on it. The iphone is a good phone but overall the HD2 is much better. When it comes to applications there are more than enough for the HD2 and not gimmick apps
The HD2 can trash the iPhone until maybe v4 comes out so make the most of it.
Screen size, clarity, stronger gps chip and reception, stronger radio reception. Better sound quality. WM has a very decent app collection, add mobihand to the list.
I still love the iPhone though. Its clamped down but just works.
hold on to your horses, this is a long one:
Why is it that whenever someone picks up my phone they say, "its just like an iPhone" or "its an iPhone wannabe" or something along those lines. About the only thing the Evo has in common with the iPhone is a touchscreen and camera. One of my friends said it LOOKS like an iPhone. HOW?? It has red accents, a kickstand and something I think the iPhone lacks, character. Apple has a lock on the smartphone market for the average consumer, and it infuriates me. The Evo is, IMO light years ahead of the iPhone, as is Android as an operating system. iOS4 is just now starting to catch up to Android in terms of necessary features, and is still lacking in other departments.
With the announcement of iPhone 4, the ONLY thing that the iPhone does better is the display (I would still prefer the mammouth Evo screen), the battery (will have to wait for reviews to confirm) and camera. Also, I have to admit that the video editing on the fly capabilities are very slick. The thing that has pissed me off the most is the "revolutionary" video chat feature in the new iPhone. BULL! With the Evo, I can video chat ANYWHERE I want on a dependable network, not only when I'm tied down to a WiFi network.
I just wish people weren't so "OOOH iPhone" like. Don't get me wrong, Apple makes phenomenal products. I'm writing this on a Macbook Pro with my 2 iPods charging next to me. But I think people really limit themselves when it comes to the mobile market. The only thing I applaud about the iPhone is what it has done for products today, the Evo most likely would not be here today if not for the iPhone. I used my dads iPhone to download and play some random game, in the middle of the game he got a text message. I was absolutely amazed that there was no way to see what the message was without exiting out of my game on this "magical" device. It could've been an urgent SOS from my brother saying he was being held at gunpoint at a bank, or it could've been my mom asking if we had any milk left. How do people function like that???

MODS: delete if anything is wrong with this post, I had to get this off my chest though
iPhone 4 is another letdown just like iPhone 3GS. I had the iPhone 3G and didn't upgrade to the 3GS because it was not enough to move me. Anyone who says Evo 4G is a iPhone lookalike is a fanboy.
They put the iPhone 4 display against the plain ol' background on a 3GS. How are you going to compare a background that's in grey to a black plain one. A real comparison would be a JB'n iPhone 3GS background with a background of the iPhone 4.
I'm open to new things and I will admit I jumped the on iPhone due to the hype. I soon became really bored with it and the fact that my phone would constantly go into safe mode. JB's iPhones are so unstable as far as crashing.
Honestly, the iPhone got so much attention because apple can afford to market it like a mofo.
They are going to deceive people with this whole retinal display BS. I will hand it to them that the built in GYRO is cool. I'm pretty sure there will be cool apps but still not interested in it let alone the price of owning one.
I had ridiculous amounts of drop calls that I still have nightmares. I find myself looking on my Evo screen when I hear silence just to make sure it didn't drop it. Thankfully I haven't dropped a call yet.

You should be safe, I've never dropped a call on Sprint. When my Dad is working in NYC, its not even worth making the call. Even at the Indy 500 a couple weeks ago he couldn't complete a call. Nothing about it makes sense, it baffles me.
The developer community is incredibly strong, but even that argument doesn't hold up too well. Most good apps for iPhone have a Android app, or at least something comparable.
It makes sense none of us get it though, it is an Android board. We've seen the light

I was more referring to the notification system in Android. In [almost] any app you get a little preview of what the message is and who sent it in the notification bar. It's not perfect, but worlds better than nothing.
Thats the power of Apples advertising. Everyone knows the iPhone. Its so bad that even "tech" people compare every phone to the iPhone.

op, you're wrong.
iphone vs any other phone (best android phone at the moment) is very relevant. Both phones have a lot in common with each other with some key differences.
Well I did notice that the new iPhone seems to have taken some design cues from HTC, I remember when I first saw the leaked images of the new iPhone the first thing I thought was "hey, that looks like the HD2"

The evo is a lot like the iPhone and without the iPhone we probably wouldn't have Android at all. We would be here still making windows mobile 6.1 roms.
I'm a big fan of Android, but give credit where credit is due. Apple created this industry, google ,ade it great, and Microsoft still hasn't shipped a significant update to their flagship mobile operating system.
The average person is an idiot.
The iphone can be successful used by 5 year olds.
Their success is entirely because if two thing. What it does it does well. KISS.
We all should thank Motorola (although they butchered the Android name).
They got the Android OS out there. They have marketed the Android heavily and I am glad.
But because of them, however, is why people call the Android system "Droid."
I guess the Apple fans can agree to disagree and they have that right. When it come to little touches I would have to give the edge to apple on it. I would have given another thought had it had a larger screen to really take advantage of that resolution. But in the grand scheme of things and Apples marketing process they wanted to be the worlds thinnest phone and claim longer battery life and this might not have been achievable with a 4 inch display. The Samsung galaxy is close at 9.9 mm. They added some perks to their software update and now claim to have made the best multitasking method for the mobile phones. We will have to see about that.
What I don't like it the many unfair claims towards the Evo for battery drain. I have not seen those numbers yet on my phone. So to all the journalist tech bloggers who reviewed the Evo please re-review them or correct your article because I only read a few that said "in all fairness the Apple iPhone 3gs lasted just as long". The battery has been what has hurt the Evo more than the 4G network in the reviews.

I wouldn't go that far, I am pretty sure we have WinMo and PalmOS to thank for Android, considering Google purchased Android Inc. in 2005, back when the iPhone was just rumor and speculation.
And I realized why most people find it hard to use smartphones other than the iPhone. It is not based around the concept of 'iPhone is naturally easier because it just WORKS' but more along the lines of people have this notion that smartphones SHOULD behave/look like the iPhone.
For instance, when I showed my friend my Evo he looked at the screen and said "Where are the apps?" I said I only keep a few on the main screen that I use frequently such as SMS/Phone/Voicemail/Dropbox etc but the rest are in the app drawer. He said "Yeah... but that's gay they should all be on the screens" after switching from screen to screen only to find a few apps here and there I realized that people are accustomed to the clutter and confusion of iOS rather than the simplicity and organization of Android. It really seems counter intuitive to me. While the iPhone is a ****ing AMAZING phone (whoever says otherwise is a fanboy) it definitely loses in some areas to Android but people base their standards off the iOS which is a clear bias. I never knew how much of a grasp Apple has on the smartphone industry until this event. Coming from a Blackberry and having owned an iPod I found the transitions to be seamless but I also worked at IT for a long duration.
The conclusion I reached was that the notion of Android is harder to use because you need to be a geek to understand it is also false. Android is not more difficult to use, it is just different in itself. Turning on wifi on an iPhone is the same process. Downloading an APP is the same as well. Making phone calls and sending texts are identical. Hopefully we can see a growth in smartphone technologies that embrace the BEST possible user experience which I believe goes to Android for their sheer volume of phones as well as operating system capabilities.
Sounds like your describing that evo vs. iphone video on youtube and your friend is the character repeating "I don't care".
Are you happy with your device? Does it do what you want the way you want?
You are all that matters....
good day.
Kinda... but its not utter stupidity - more ignorance. What I am trying to say is that the iPhone has been the epitome of what a touchscreen smartphone SHOULD look and behave like.
I enjoy Android but I honestly got the Evo because of Sprints plan coupled in with unlimited bandwidth was a great money saving choice for a smart phone. Also, the fact that I can roam on Verizon meant I could get signal where an iPhone could not.
Honestly though, if I could get an iPhone on Sprints network with unlimited data + tethering as I do now for under $80 I would jump on that offer. Really love that phone and the game development is skyrocketing. I do enjoy the Evo, however. Cant complain about its amazing screen size and custom roms I can put in. Also the free tethering is nice
I guess your conclusion also explains why in every smartphone review, the iPhone is mentioned several times also.
Yup. Now if only we could get that phone out of the ATT deathgrip.

So you do want the iphone...
I'm not surprised that the iphone is the standard - there are a lot more of them than any other smartphone. And they're very nice phones.
That said, I much prefer my evo. Even if the iphone became available outside AT&T, I'm sticking with android. While the iphone has more games (and fart apps), android allows more customization. I'm also not limited to a single controlled app market. Finally, my aging eyes love the large screen.
My girlfriend has a mytouch slide and after having the phone for a week I was showing her how to use it and she didn't even realize there was a menu button. You miss out on an awful lot without using that button lol.

Pretty sure the BB curve still holds the crown.
That said, I am moving my mom from her BB curve to an EVO in December. I'll do the same with the EVO that I did with the curve. I will set it up so everything she wants is on the home screens. I'll give it a nice, clean look and make sure the fonts are right, etc.
She wants it for the big screen, not because it is fast, customizable, or anything else.

I prefer: Common sense is not that common.
I agree with the OP 100%. People are creatures of habit and don't realize that in the same way a PC differs from a MAC, an Android phone will differ from iOS based phone. I think that people will buy anything that has a lower case "i" in front of it just because Apple found a niche in the way they advertise. I don't have a problem with their products. My beef with them is based on their communist approach to business and the fact that they don't care about their customers.
Personally, I have never nor will I ever buy anything Apple. It has nothing to do with being an Android fan-boy so much as it is about being an Apple hater. lol Although I will say that my first experience with Android has left me wanting to kick myself for not switching over sooner.

I made the terrible mistake of buying my g/f an iPod nano about a year ago. I really should have known better but she really wanted it. I got her hooked on Android with her Hero last Dec and she is now enamored with her EVO. My current challenge is I'm trying to convince her to let me see if I can hit her iPod with a .50 cal round at about 400 yards.
I'd settle for using my AR at 200 yards but the .50 would be so much more gratifying

Bwahaha! My girl wanted an iPod for her birthday a few years back, and when she opened the box, there was a Zune in it. She looked at me as if I had just said something about her momma. After a week, she was loving it. She was able to remove that resource-hungry iTunes software from her computer (she had it on there because of an iPod Shuffle she previously was using but broke), and it made her computer faster, too.
If you ever take the .50 cal to the iPod, make sure you use the Evo to capture the event.

Yeah, I got it for her but with the caveat that it could only ever make a usb connection with HER COMPUTER.
I think I'll have to actually get her a raplacement before she'll give it up. I'm thinking either a Zune or a 16gb microsd card for her EVO.
Also, rest assured if I ever do get her iPod out to the range.. the event will be captured and shared
iPhone is a bit too easy and locked down for my tastes. I like being able to apply themes, change my Home app, etc. I think that alone makes Android look much better than iPhone. My iPhone friend who is an Apple fanboy agrees that the Android setup is much better and widgets are awesome.
Icons on icons is ugly to me. It's almost insulting.

Zune HD ftw. I have had a 16 gig since launch day. Sexy screen, light and portable, and best of all the battery life is ****ing outstanding. Also, the best music browsing/playability out of any device to date.
Yea, the Zune is pretty. Although to be honest, I would invest in a 32GB SD card for my Evo and use that instead of using two separate devices. While the UI of the Zune is pretty, I wouldn't spend the money on it when I have a phone I already carry with me all the time that can do the same thing.

Look dude, I'm not trying to start more shiz in another one of your threads.. I'm appalled by your behavior in your WTF WIFI?!?! thread, but that's another story. I'm asking you politely to check your language. You could have just as, if not more effectively covered your point without dropping an f-bomb.. Again, not trying to start shiz.
I have no experience with zune but everyone I know that has one LOVES it, and several of them have models that are OOOLLLDDD, so that says something to me about build quality. On the other hand, a big sdcard full of music would conveniently negate the need for another device to purchase and keep charged, but would likely mean I'd have to hook her up with another battery or two or an extended battery. Oh what a dilemma, now I have to research and purchase more technology

Okay fine lets agree to be police to so others don't have to deal with it.
I was thinking about getting an SD card for my Evo but the only crappy thing is I want to carry my music around in places that I don't want to take my phone like the gym. Not only are phones prohibited in some gyms, I couldn't bear to accidentally drop a weight on my phone or get too sweaty and short it out etc etc. Although I love my Zune and it cost me as much as my Evo did, it is not nearly the same device as far as capabilities.
Plus, another thing with the Evo is you don't really need an extra sd card. Just setup Dropbox accounts and you're good to go. I have all my music on dropbox and I just stream it perfectly.
Not to hijack, but I also have a dropbox account. How are you streaming music to your evo?

smart.
The brand itself made the iphone successful..
I recommend iphone too to those whoever looking to get a smartphone, especially the ones I think are not really OS/smartphone enthusiasts..
Both android and iphone are great OS'.. It's just much simpler and refined iOS is compared to android.. I think the Galaxy s2 made it right out of all the android smartphones out there..
Thanks to its great specs and incorporation into the OS..
And also... We keep on waiting for the next iteration of android to work right.. We said that about gingerbread then honeycomb.. Lol.. Is honeycomb not that good either?
ios and android are just 2 sides of the same coin.
Android gives the user a more advanced and easily customizable interface as well as open source, minus side is stability and hardware/software compatibilty.
IOS gives you the security of a rock solid stable OS with the comfort of knowing your OS is built around your hardware, thus no incompatibility or unsupported features. downside is closed OS no source info apple controlled market and complete lack of customization.
Android = Mobile Technology Enthusiast
IOS = Business savy person, or parent, people who need to be 100% certain everything works 24/7 (or trend hopping teen)
i have an ipod touch, a galaxy S, I love both
I have an Imac and a self built windows 7 gaming rig, I love both
Mind you these are my opinions and as such yours may differ.
as a person who loves the best of both worlds i use Miui with the Vexillium Project icon set, this gives an iphonish polish and feel with the customization of android that i have grown to love.
Android is more for the tech savvy people, while apple is for people that don't really know much, with the iphone though, you don't get leaks, either your phone is supported, or its old and will forsure never get updates (apple).

One area where apple has a big advantage is how easy it is to change themes or customize iphones. My buddy at work has an iphone 4 and it jail broke. Thru cydia he installed something call a dream board (or something like that). Thru that he can go from theme to them within a few seconds and there are zero issues. Also its super easy to change signal, wifi icons etc... Now us android usuers know what a pain it is to change almost anything on your phone. Finding something compatible with your rom, make a back up, flash, reboot, cross fingers , say a prayer and hope everything works like it should.

You can post it here. I enjoyed the article. It's different if your purpose was to sell something, but even if you had ads, it's not against the rules.
As for the topic:
My wife's sister is an apple iPhone convert to Android with the Galaxy S Vibrant. Observing her everyday dealing with the phone would come to the conclusion that the iPhone is just simpler. She had her iPhone before I met her, so I didn't get to see her initial learning curve into the smartphone arena. She often complained about the Galaxy's constant crashing, slowness, and terrible battery life. (She's the type of person who only charges once every three days). A custom ROM did not make things better, and shouldn't have to as she put it. She loves the Market and all of the nifty apps that she can download. She uses that often. She didn't have many apps on her iPhone.
It makes you think. I've found that a lot of features that I used apps for previously are built right in to the MIUI ROM and negates the use of an external app. I believe that a lot of features should be implemented into the OS, and should not require an external app, or custom ROM to access it. This is something that needs improvement. To me, an intuitive UI isn't only about being pretty, but being complete in the sense that I don't have to customize it in order for it to be fully functional.
iOS has superior apps, a superior user interface, a more battery-friendly design and superior media ecosystem (iTunes Store, etc.).
Even where the same apps exist, the iOS version is most often better.
Also, the build quality of the iPhone is superior to practically every Android device on the market. The only other smartphone I've owned that came close was the HD2 (boy has HTC gone down the ****ter since then?).
I simply can't deal with it because a 3.5" screen isn't enough for me. I need 4" at least on the screen. Anything less is not usable to me as a daily driver.

That's because it is pretty, gleaming, slick, and simple to use.
It's not marketing. Go to an AT&T or Verizon store and look at it.
It's so good, that even Samsung tried their damnest to copy the Look and Feel of it, and Android even borrowed many UI elements from iOS.
Lots of people got Vibrants preciecely because it was a 3GS look-alike with Android on it (skinned to look like iOS) and they didn't want to get AT&T's service to get an iPhone.

That's true to an extent. But not every android phone can run GB. So that's not an option for everyone. Plus apple os is pretty slick right out of the box. No need for custom roms.
Bi-winning V3
In terms of build quality yes and in terms of efficiency their iOS is efficient but there phone is a nightmare for people with big hands which is why I generally see more women own iPhones and more guys own android phones
While this is all true i think google knows this an thats where ice cream sandwich comes in cant wait an gonna be open source so that mean CM8 unlike honeycomb

Funny as I was checking on replies for this thread,I am also right in the middle of an article from yahoo news saying that Blackberry is dying a slow painful death(kind of,they just didn't shout it out loud to Bb's)
I've never used an iPhone long enough to actually make a comparison, i do love the smoothness of iOS but the idea of getting stuck with iTunes turns me off. I've read that ICS will have hardware acceleration, so the smoothness may be solved as soon as ICS is ported to x10 through CM9, MIUI etc.
the other thing that used to attract me was the enourmous game library, but lately nearly every game i hear about on iOS gets an Android port so, i'm ok with that.
an idiotphone? No, never, you just sent a shiver down my back thinking about it
I'd never use an iPhone, NEVER.
you have to go through a whole lot of trouble to stay up to date with an iphone, jailbrake, make sure you don't update to an unjailbreakable version, buy the new phone when it comes out 6 months later...
Bleh, my 3 years old X10 is still working perfectly fine with all the latest apps, I can't say the same about an iphone 3G.

Lol although I agree about not wanting an iPhone, this is pretty fallacious as well.
X10 does not at all work "fine with all the latest apps".
stuff that isn't compatible simply doesn't show in the market, believe me there would be about an equal amount of apps you couldn't run on the x10 and iPhone 3g..
I dont hate the apple products but lets say i just prefer the android os.
because IOS is very boring not much customisable
i mean when i flick through my homescreen on x10 i dont get bored ! On iphone there is no widget so really boring homescreens.
let alone the fact no app drawer you can barely see the wallpaper you have set lol...

Maybe not on the Market app on the phone but on the Market website, even from the phone, they do show. And up on the left hand side it says it's not compatible with your [insert phone model here].
Edit: On topic, only if it were free (to play around with, not for daily use) or if someone paid me. I only put iTunes on a PC once (a spare pc at that) and only cause someone paid me to put their cds onto their iPod.
No one can deny the smoothness of iOS(i haven't used android 4 still).
At first I loved iOS before i even knew about android. But after using an Android phone I don't think I would go back(unless they do something extraordinary changes in OS ).
Android on apple hardware is my dream lol

To think about this again, back then,I never dislike neither its products, nor the user themselves(now I can say I hate both)...I used to even think that they are a great innovator when they first released an IPhone(even though overpriced).
First,it all started whenever I talk to Apple user,it borings me because everytime we talk about technology, there is none besides what Apple brings to the table(sigh). It would even bothers me when we even discuss about media download, when I say a decent 320kbps mp3 music file is enough for me,they will deny it by saying nothing is acceptable if its not lossless. When I say that a normal BRrip avi file is already more than watchable enough, they will say nothing is like mkv.
And it really sickens me when I say 4 inch screen is nice when I watch youtube on it,they will say,TOO BIG,
when I say a new phone just came out with dual core processor, they will say it is UNNECESSARY,
when I say it is good that now we have a lot of choices for smartphone, they will say FRAGMENTATION.....
And the list goes on.
And to the point I see almost all Apple Users are all F**k Up.I start to notice whoever own one of the IDevices, there is a need for them to flash it public and brag about how cool it is when possible....
And as for Apple Inc.,when they sue Samsung for rounded edges,I think they just wanna protect their rights, but lately it doesn't seem so,it is more like they are all against all the android big boys(Samsung,Htc,Motorola). And they have already stop innovating something that is cool enough to the eyes of the most people and try clinging to the only products that is sell-able for as long as they can.And to do that, they need to take everyone else out by keep suing them.
Latest court case they won against HTC is based on auto-parsing,which whenever you get a phone number via short message, the phone will recognize it,you can dial it from the dial pad straight away....and such thing.I think my 8 years Sony Ericsson P990i can already do that(if not older),such claim is bad for all of us consumer,at least from my point of view.
And recently,Apple file up a case against Samsung again for infringement on about 10 FREAKING PHONE CASING...can you believe that?
I think Apple R&D is already dying...no new products to keep up,and yet they need to make money as much as they can.
And for today,I think Apple should just go to hell...the way I see it I'm not going to buy anything from them and not in the near future....
I wouldn't switch either. I just love playing around with android too much.
That being said, I do use my girlfriends iPhone for games when we are bored. That and for photography because android photo apps just seem sub par sadly.

I've got a 3Gs for as my work phone. I barely touch it. It's running IOS 5.0.1 and it's rendered it mostly unusable. battery life is poultry, phone is laggy & unresponsive as heck, and if i visit a website that requires login or user input to continue, I get stuck in a login screen loop. Add iTunes to this and it's really just a nightmare. We've started setting the partners up with 4S's, and while they are admittedly quite speedy/smooth, itunes still ruins the experience. As well as the boring interface.
I'm not a big fan of the hardware design either. There are much nicer looking phones about.

What's funny is how they're suing everyone in sight, yet stealing ideas more than anyone else. (drop down notification blind anyone?)
Not to mention Samsung produces the entire iPhone pretty well, yet apple has the gull to sue them?
