To begin, i'm really sorry if it has already discuss because i searched for these problems and i didn't find any threads (maybe i'm blind )
so, my problem are there :
- after a custom rom flash (i tried FRE and WWE, it doesn't matter), i've got a lot of freezes. At the beginning, i thought that was manila but even i stop it, it does again. When it happens, i can't do anything else, i'm obliged to SR
- times it works well (if i can say that , when device is turn to sleep, i can't unlock it. I explain : when i switch on screen, i slide to unlock and then it goes again to sleep and if i try again, it does the same again !
I tried some things a lot of time : HR, SR re-flash, re-HSPL... and each time, it's the same thing
The only rom works it the last official one (i lost the HSPL each time too)
EDIT
some new test results : (for me only at this moment)
- in manila 1921, 8 and 16 GB cards are accepted without any problem
- in manila 1922, 8 GB card is accepted with any problem
- in manila 1922, 16 GB card isn't accepted ! freeze and unlock problems
i repeat that it does even if sense i switch off, so the doc tab issue seems not to be a good way...
END EDIT
EDIT 2
LINK TO STERNAS ROM
above a link to the only rom works. Thanks to Sternas (and waiting if he wants to explain it precisely to permit other cookers to include issue)
END EDIT 2

Yes, there are a lot of people, having the same problem. Myself as well
But we couldn't find the solution for it.
I tried different cooked roms, I formatted the sd card (fat32), I took out the sd card, I tried with or without sim card, but the device still freezes.
In case of original roms it works without freezing
Original ROMs also freeze

I disagree - I find that in the mornings, the phone the radio has gone off and nobody can phone me (I charge the phone all night). I am on Rom 48.
Hi Will,
You are talking about custom roms FRE and WWE are they realy custom or do you talk about the stock roms?
Maybe it's good you explain how you flash the rom and explain how you use the rom.
Do you use the rom default or do you install applications?
Which applications you are using, a list would be great.
And you can also explain this:
* Are you using HSPL or SSPL?
* Do you flash from storage card or do you use your desktop?
* Did / or did you not remove storage card during flash?
* Did you hardreset after flash?
* Which roms are you talking about, I mean which versions?
The more details you give the more people can verify if they have simulair problems/ software that could cause this issue and the faster you will find what is causing it.

Hi Laurentius26,
i'm sorry if i didn't precise all things you ask because i used to flash my different device for a while (since the first diamond) and i begin to have a little experience on it. So, i think i use the good way
To explain, i use to do this :
- copy the leoimg.nbh on the root of SDCard (previously formatted in FAT32) and i precise it is a sandisk microSD
- two methods then : test from the microSD (restart with the volume down key pressed) or from the PC with the CustomRUU.exe . I precise again that i've already install HSPL from Bepe and Cotulla (thanks again to them)
- after device restart, i do a HR, then i follow the config wizard and i do a SR.
and then, i do nothing, just set hour and date and the problems listed above appear, without any time to install or custom anything
for the rom, i confirm too that's not stock roms i tried but for example, Xannytech Evolution 1.0 RC1 or rom from French cooker Seya
So, i don't think it is a method problem but maybe a little bit different hardware than all of you (why ? i don't really know)
Let's go for your analysis !
thanks
I can give you 3 suggestions how you can find the cause.
Try flashing with Custom ruu but no storage card inserted.
Actualy you could try to use the rom for a day without your storage card and see if the problem persist. If not you can put the storage card back in and continue testing.
Yah and second suggestion is trying another custom rom and see if the problem persist.
If the problem still persist after these steps I would flash a stock rom, one time without storage card inserted and one time with.

I will try to re-install another custom rom while i will eat my sandwich
i'll give you more news after
i've just tried to flash with freyberry_premium_V5.3_23518 and then it works well !!!
does it mean that my phone doesn't support rom further 1.48 ?
have you any idea about that ?
No I would say the two roms you mentioned earlier probably have a bug in rom which causes the freezing and you should contact the chefs.

in fact, it's not a problem of rom version because problems comme back again, even with the freyberry_premium_V5.3_23518, i can't unlock HD2, it return to sleep before i unlock completly...
i try another rom to see
just a information, when i use customRUU.exe, it always says me that i change my image version from mine to "1.48.kwbr"
with all the different rom, i always have this message ! is it OK ?
Edit : forget this, i was wrong. I did the same and so, i obtained same version ...
I'm facing the same problem with cooked rom. But I test the cooked rom by copying a big file into my document folder, and left with about 10M in main memory, files in HD2 are easily corrupted and HD2 freeze.
- flashing stock 1.48, and then cooked rom with hard reset, HD2 can not pass the copying test.
- flashing stock 1.61, and then cooked rom with hard reset, pass the copying test, and my HD2 still functioning after one day of use. I realize that the radio for 1.61 is newer, version 2.06.
I tried to install a FRE custom rom based on 2.02 and then it works until i put the microSD card in again.
After this, freeze and sleep problem come back. So, is there a problem with 16 Gb SDHC Class 2 MicroSD card ?
thanks
it was not far to work well...
i flash without MicroSD, then install SD card hotfix from HTC and it seemed to work for 5 minutes.
i try to recover my contacts with pimbackup from my microSD and then FREEEEEZE : obliged to pull out battery
i'm fed up with this problem !!!
another new and question for all :
it seems to come from micro SD, so, someone have same of mine ?

Yes I am using the same SD but I am observate a little bit different behavior. MY HD2 freeze and nothing can be done. I soft reset my device but the boot up doesn´t finish again. It stops at the white HTC screen and showing me the version numbers on the left bottom. I have to hard reset my device to use it again. I had this two times with dutty´s V0.3a and the implemented Radio 2.06 using HSPL.

As you get your problems with all ROMs I guess it's either your sd-card or your device.
I suggest you first try another (smaller) sd-card. My 8Gb works perfectly.
I am also using a 8GB card (Kingston - Class 4) and had no single freeze or lock-up since the beginning.
As I thought about switching to the 16GB SanDisk card as well I am very interested in the result. If it's either a sd card or device issue.
Best regards
i totally agree with you, i think now it's a SD problem but what i can't understand is :
i use this card since i had my touch HD (the first one) and there is never a problem
i change my phone to HD2 and so put my 16 GB in HD2 and then : no problem too
it's only since i try to flash with custom roms and not with stock roms, so it's not really a sd problem but a problem between SD and last roms, am i wrong ?
hi there.....First of all let me tell you that I have read all the forums on this site and on htcpedia.com to solve my problem but no success. So i had no other choice other than to ask in the forum.
Problem is when I boot my hd2 for the first time after copying "Android" folder in to my sd card(32 gb), It would display 5-6 lines in the top left corner ending with the line "Jumping to the Kernel (custom)...." and freezes there even after i wake up from 8 hours long sleep. Then I have to restart it by removing the battery.
There is a one strange thing. When I copy 'Android' folder in the root of sd card (sd card\Android\..) no data image file would be created in it after the end of the situation described in second paragraph. But when I copy all file from 'Android' folder to the root of the sd card (Sd card\all files) , the camera flash lite will turn on for a moment and the screen will display weird black and white lines and would freeze there indefinately untill I restart it after good couple of hours and there would be data file of around 1 gb. Nothing would change even after I reboot again.
Radio- 2.10.50.26
rom- Elegancia gtx v 5.0 final wwe
android- mattcleo froyo 1.8
Please help...AS Android was my motivation behind buying this nice hardware.
Ok, first why don't you just use the search function or just jumpin two pages further? There are about one million people having the same problem as you.
But if I were you, I would try to update my radio at first (at least to 2.12) because 2.10 caused much problems.
And second thing is, which kernel do you use? And how does your startup.txt looks like?
Also make sure your version of WM is Android friendly.
Radio version is important also, most Android versions need a radio that ends with .50, NOT .51...
I would first make sure your current ROM will work with Android. Get a new one if needed. Next do a fresh reformat to fat 32 on your SD card. Last try a new radio: 2.10.50 does work for me, but you may try a 2.12.50 one.
Try to boot up between each of these steps. It may take one or all of them to get you up and running. Good luck.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
try a smaller sdcard.
I heard something about 32gb not working with android.
Solved the freezing puzzle.....fell in love with HD2 powered by android
hey thanks guys for support.....
Finally I managed to install Android on my hd2......It was my fake chinese made 32gb micro sd card making the trouble. I read in some forum about it.
Then I bought SANDISK 8 gb class 6 micro sd card and bingo......it worked.
Thank you guys.......And those who is having the same problem give it a try....
Sorry guys but I need some serious help getting android to run on my htc hd2....
I have been trying to get android to run for the last 5 weeks+ but I have not even got close....
HSPL 2.08 installed.....
Tried mostly all android builds....
Tried every radio known to man in combinations with custom ROMs....."AND NOTHING"

I have read copious amounts of threads relating to this issue, so I have not been lazy...... but all avenues circle back to the same conclusion "no android no work"....
The only thing that I possibly hindering me is my sd card, but some say that android runs smooth from these type of cards...so instead of going out and spending a fortune on a top of the range one I thought that I would post this thread first....
Is it something simple that I am missing........?
Please any help would be most appreciative......
same.. :/
Hi, i seem to be having a similar problem
I run haret and it seems to run through some scrolling text, then leave a blank black screen for ages at a time.
Have i too done something wrong?

Me too, the exact same thing. Have tried MDJ froyo rev 1.5, with S1 kernel and with Hastarin R8. Both types I get a black screen with HTC in green - but stays like that for upwards of 10mins.

the other thing you can do is get the android sdk, install adb, and watch the logcat, it shuld be obvious if it starts to loop, or copy the logcat and post it so someone can help you debug.
my guess, your card's corupted... try formating it to an ext4 file system, then back to fat32. or scan it on a linux box and see if it shows up corupted...
Thanks t1h5ta3....
I will give it a go....
i used to face the same issue. place the android folder in the root of your sdcard
and check your startup.txt for your android path
e.g set cmdline "rel_path=Android"
you've probably did it before....
So why not pay a little money and get a low end SD card for testing? That would tell straight away if there's a problem with the card.
I use a 16GB Sandisk class 2 with no problems and also have a 16GB Kingston class 4 that runs fine.
Never had any problems, except SOD (and there's a fix for that), with these 2 cards.
Both formatted Fat 32 with 32 kilobyte allocation size on a Win 7 machine.
Makes Sense.........
"Enough" is "Enough"
From my previous post I have purchased another SDHC card (TOSHIBA 8GB CLASS 4) for testing android and surprise surprise I am still getting exactly the same problem, not a thing in regards running android. Why is such a simple thing turning out to be so problematic, my head has finally dropped and I am losing the will to live.....?
Common Issues.....
whilst linux is booting android it will always stop at "SMD: ch 1 1 2 -> 2".......... ???????????? i have searched for this with little or no success.
And one thing that I find very confusing is the Startup.txt files... what should it actually say because many people have different opinions.....BOOT or BOOTLINUX ????
Can anyone please please please post a complete setup in regards of rom, radio, etc etc of there HTC HD2 (LEO) European version """(NOT A 1024)"""" running android, so I can compare and find out what the BL**DY hell is going on...

The only other thing I could think of is that maybe it's the Windows rom that you're using. Haret Android actually makes use of bits and pieces of what winmo leaves behind in memory, and since you are running a rom with cht built in, it may be using the ram memory differently, storing different things in ram addresses that Android doesnt expect. I would back up your NRG CHT build (shouldnt be too bad using XDA_UC), and flash a stock rom or NRG's bare bones Android rom. If it doesn't work, at least it's one more thing you could cross off the list of likely suspects

The plot thickens
Thanks for the suggestion huggs....
I flashed Energy.Leo.COM2.Barebones WM Build.For.Android as you suggested and have been getting some strange results??????
Firstly because that particular build auto boots into android once you switch on your device with an sd card inserted it does not detect either my Toshiba micro 8GB or my Sandisk 4GB SD"HC" cards and says "NO STORAGE CARD HAS BEEN DETECTED"... although saying that I can open file explorer on my device and read both storage cards.....but the auto boot does detect my Sandisk micro 2GB "SD" card and auto boots android but Linux stops at line "usb: product_id 0xff9" and hangs......
Either my hd2 does not like micro "SDHC" cards or it is knackered......
I AM CONFUSED.COM

battery pull

flash VBNDroid-Reloaded2Alt-21913-Oct08
format SD card
download [UPD][BUILD][18.11.10]|MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4 [kernel: MDJ S6.1]
unzip
put the Android folder to your sd card
with device off - put sd card to device
boot
manually click on clrad then haret (do it fast, you must activate haret while
hardware keys are alight)
print that step by step guide, you can never fail on that.
jingers i preformed task 29 and i can not get my phone into the bootloader ?
Hi there,
One question to all of you having problems with Android. Do you happen by any chance to have extended battery?
I similar problems with Android. One day it worked and the next day it wouldn't and no matter what I did it just refused to work on any build I tried. I was so sure that it was because of the memory card that I even didn't think about the extended battery causing problems.
So if you try everything, including different wm roms, different android builds, changing sd cards and are totally at loss just try any rom with extended battery support or try changing the kernels that support one and then try again.
Provided you've got extended battery and are not too much experienced in Android issues I could bet that this is the cause of your problems.
hi rafian a good shout but no i am not using an extended battery.....
But is does not matter now because i think my phone is bricked after doing a task 29 because it will not enter the bootloader ??????????
Also because it is not entering the bootloader and all i get is the NRG flash screen from my preivious rom and that task 29 has not removed it am i right in thinking if i send my phone off to be repaired / replaced they will see that splash screen and know that i had HSPL installed and void my warranty ???????
I'm sorry to read it Frank. This is the worst case scenario ( .
WHY O WHY did i do a task 29......................
Got my HD2 to work
Hi all,
I also faced many problems in my attempts to make Android run on my HD 2. I got stuck on the startup screen (starting Linux kernel etc).
In the end irrespective of what the other form user stated, you need to install HSPL (article link provided below). Be warned, to install this I had to switch off everything (wifi, BT etc) but phone (and a reset was needed) and had to make sure on windows desktop that Windows Mobile Device Centre was able to communicate with phone BUT was not synching anything.
Once HSPL was installed I found out that my Radio ROM was too old. need 2.07... + (I had 2.06...) I then updated my Radio ROM thenTADA I am now running Android on my HD2.
Here is the link that resolved my issues.

Hi,
I have been on this forum for the past 2-3 days trying to get android on my gf's HD2 and it just wont have it.
I have tried MCCM's HD v4 Desire one
I have tried Froyo 1.5
I have tried DL Desire Series, both SD and MAGLAR.
The ones where you click CLRCAD.exe then haret.exe either say it doesent have certificates to run or parts are missing. Or it goes to a black scree and gets stuck on "Jumping To Kernel" and it stays like that for ages (tested for 1 hour, never budged)
The DL desire series via MAGLAR wont work either, I need HSPL (sp?) to install MAGLAR but HSPL keeps reporting back that the file Rapi.dll is missing.
My SPL version is 1.42**** so technically thats right ( from what I have read )
I have tried formatting the SD card via PC and device, also tried a factory reset and an additional 2 other SD cards. Still nada.
What else can it be? Someone mentioned the radio but there is so many questions being asked in a specific thread that mine gets lost and since this is more of a global issue I thought a thread of its own is deserved
I really want this and will go to any length to get it ( not keen on ROM flashing thought, would like to avoid turning the handset into a hammer rather than a phone)
Hope I havent busted any rules
Cheers,
Gib
You need radio 2.14 or more for Android.
aka, upgrade your ROM.
You are not alone
You are not alone here.
I have been having this problem too, I get stuck on the HTC white screen. though I haven't tried much ROM but I have tried formating and reflahing of my WM ROM.
I once did a stock ROM official update with: (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2 .15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ever since I have not been able to find how to flash using SPL, I have been flashing using SSPL_RU and my radio is 2.15.50.14.
Could this reason be the problem.
I need help please I want to have a feel of droid.
Know the feeling
I have been trying all the different android magldr sd roms and everytime its the same story. First boot fine. Second boot and on it just hangs at the green htc logo. I have tried so many things i don't know what to do next.
Have you tried one of the Energy ROM's? I found on my unlocked HD2 that these were the only roms (going back a while now) that I could get Android running off an SD card. I've since heard that there is a basically blank rom for people who want to run nothing but android. It's a small rom, only about 30mb.
It's in a few places around the board. I can't remember what the name of that one is off the top of my head, but any of the Energy series, or the Miri ROM's apparently work too.
Good luck!

Ater trying some nand roms i came back to the orignal firmware( the same as you).
And i also have this problem , it just load into a picture with htc on it.
Have you tried using a different SD card? My Sandisk 8gb didn't accept anything. I had an old 512mb laying around that came with my E90, loaded SuperRAM on it (aprox 450mb including data.img) and it booted straight away.
2.15.50.* is the right radio for most SD builds, make sure you have enough free space on SD. most builds have at least 512mb if not 1gb data.img which gets created when first boot. If runs out of space it will get stuck on boot screen. No hspl required with 3.14 HTC winmo rom
I also try to get Android in my HD2 (energy ROM). I am somewhat puzzled however: I want to flick back and forth between WM and Android and many programs I have reside onto my SD card. I have read in an earlier post that before attempting Android I should format my card - does this mean that I cannot have WM data (programs etc) in the same SD card I run android? or that I can transfer them back AFTER I manage (if) to load Android?. Thank you
The SD card has to be formatted in FAT32. Just to make sure the card is clean I copy all my data to my pc, format the card and transfer it all back.

OK thank you - got it!
Unfortunately I cannot get passed the green HTC splash screen - my HD2 stays there for time no end and the only solution is to take battery out. Any suggestions?
Assuming you've got everything set up properly (right radio, hspl, ...) which you can find on the Android forum. I think you'll have to try using a different brand of sd card. Some cards simply don't play nice with Android.
Got uber annoyed with the SD method, just ended up doing a full scale flash to ROM. Was easier lol

Good luck!

I am using Energy ROM (Energy Serie: Energy.Leo.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Feb.12)
My phone just hangs on the white HTC screen when I try to boot into Android from the SD card. I flashed my ROM with SSPL_RU after an update with the Stock ROM (RUU_Leo_S_HTC_NLD_3.14.404.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship)
ehh

I would almost agree with that except, i have 2 exactly the same 16 gb cards, each with a 3 gb fat32 primary partition. 1 loads android but wont allow me to do things like take pictures[it says there isn't an sd card.] The second card just hangs at the green htc screen. Even if I copy the working partition to the other card, it still hangs.

Thanks for this Info. I didn't take into consideration that the file will be enlarged during booting. The copied Android folder was 508MB in size but this got enlarged to about 1.3GB during boot up. I thought if I just leave about 1.2GB in all the SD card I have been trying that it should be enough. But I was wrong.
Thanks a lot I have done multiple reboot without any problem.
I am enjoying my first Android feel.
Thanks once again.
Android on HD2 hates most SD Cards
From my own limited experience to also having read many posts I can say that most sd cards prevent Android from running properly on the hd2. Mine works fine with radio 2.14/2.15 and the stock Sandisk 16gb card that came with my tmous hd2, but I recently tried a wintec 16gb card that made Android run like a broke-wheel-cart and other sd cards I have laying around make it fail.
I think everyone needs to add what card they are using to their signature, or else we might all just end up howling in the wind.
Based on some feedback from another post I just ordered this Sandisk 16gb card from Newegg. It is Model # SDSDQ-016G-A11M . It is reported that that model# provides class10 speeds even though it is sold as a class2. It's use with Android is supposed to be good.
HD2 WP7 does not support all extended batteries. When trying to charge certain extended batteries in wp7, you get alternate red/green flashing led and no charging occurs.
This dual boot method allows you to boot to an android build and charge your battery, whilst still obviously being able to use your phone normally. No partitioning or formatting is required.
When WP7 is installed, there is a 200mb FAT16 partition created at the start of your SD card, which is not really used by WP7.
Usually this space is not big enough for an Android ROM to reside.
Thanks to Rick_1995, a Barebone Cyanogenmod 7 ROM was built that was pretty small. This ROM has been ported using Portadroid (Thanks to boonbing), to create a small sd build (here) which can be run from the SDcard and does not affect the WP7 in NAND. This Android does support extended batteries.
Instructions
1. Download SD build from here
2. Optional - Use a program such as hashcalc to verify md5sum of your download is the same as that on the dev host download page, to ensure your download is not corrupted.
3. Use Minitool partition wizard and set your 200Mb FAT16 partition to primary. Use extreme care with this tool, do not wipe your PC hard disk. Also note that this step may not be necessary at all. I can't remember whether the partition is already set as primary. If it wasn't, then the android build may not be able to view contents of FAT partition (odd I know). However this should not affect charging the battery. Feedback here would be good.
4. Extract the zip (using 7zip, winrar or similar) and put the BBCM7 folder onto your SD card
5. See this post and download either the 64Mb or the 48Mb data.ext4 (see below for choice), extract the zip and put the data.ext4 file into the bbcm7 folder on your SDcard.
6. Go to magldr / 10. Services / 1. Bootsettings / 3. AD SD Dir / and select BBCM7 folder.
7. To start Android, use magldr / 2. Boot AD SD
You should then get the portadroid screen for a minute or so and then you will be in android. Set up your Android and use it to charge your battery (and as a phone if needed). Subsequent boots take about 30 seconds.
You may want to use magldr / 10. Services / 1. BootSettings / 2. AlwaysMenu, to save pressing your power button on each restart to get magldr menu.
The choice of data.ext4 size depends on how you use your Android phone. This file contains any apps you download. Whereas media (music, photos etc) are stored in the DCIM folder in bbcm7 (FAT). If you want more apps, choose 64Mb.
I believe the data.ext4 can be re-sized using toporesize application on pc
Thanks go to Rick_1995, boonbing for Portadroid, Cyanogenmod, cmhtcleo team (arif-ali, milaq, charansingh and all other cm developers) for device tree, tytung for kernel, DarkStone1337 for SuperRAM concept, wis1152 for original porting and any others I forgot.
Enjoy
Finally a solution to Official HTC Extended Battery Charging!
Thank you very much Robbie P! This solves all the extended battery charging issues. Especially if they're using WP7 as main! :good::good::good:

I'm glad you got it sorted felix.chia, it was your PM which got me to post this thread in the first place.
Thanks :highfive:
I have an extended battery as well, but after I switch from WP7 to Android, the latter sees that it's at 60% and cannot be charged more. I have to take the battery out and put it back in to make it go to 100% on Android.
Any idea why?
Probably due to calibration, we know that it takes a full charge to full discharge cycle for the os to learn about the battery's capability. Maybe android is a bit confused (like me)
I don't know what are you talking about. I'm on WP 7.8 and have an extended battery since 2 years ago on my HD2 and it always charge it with no problem since first editions of WP on HD2, same thing for Android since v2.1 or whatever was the first version available for HD2 when it ran over SD card.

Thanks for info cadorna, I have changed OP and title to reflect the fact that ppl can charge some extended batteries and not others on wp7.
Cheers
