UC Mobile, a mobile internet service provider, recently announced the release of its mobile browser UC Browser 7.4 for Java, Symbian and Windows Mobile. The new version offers lots of improvements and new features, which make it a good alternative to other browsers such as, Opera Mini, Bolt or Skyfire.
The developer of the mobile browser has improved all the UC Browser 7.2 features such as data compression to save 85% of users’ traffic charge, very good pre-fetch technology, high download speeds, built-in file manager, multi-search, save and share and night mode.
The features described above were also embedded in the new 7.4 version, but perform better now.
UC Browser 7.4 offers WAP2.0 support, which means that the browser will display more graphical elements, unlike the old WAP 1.0 which only displayed a few basic elements on webpages (text and pictures).
UC Mobile also enhanced UC Browser 7.4 performance, which is now 30% faster than the previous 7.2 version. Cursor mode is another added feature, along with My Shortcut.
While UC Browser 7.2 provided users with a “common mode” (a mode you can control the page through your keypad or navigation key), the new version offers the more smooth Cursor mode feature, which enables user to browse using only the phone's D-pad button.
The My Shortcut feature may look familiar for Opera mini users, as it resembles the “speed dial” feature. The “My Shortcut” will display four squares in the home screen the first time the browser is open, where users can add their favorite sites.
Importing from browsing history or typing the address to add a website as favorite is also possible. Up to eight “speed dial” squares can be added for favorite sites.

I like this browser, its very fast (probably a bit faster than Opera Mini), and I do like the home screen quicklinks in there. If you like basic browsing, then this is a best option.
Nice work mate, and thanks for sharing.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha :d
alternative to skyfire huh?

Right. I have searched though didn't find ant reference to it. At least not i using searching in the subject.
Well ftpxbrowser basically does the same, adding tabs. It is not an full blown stand-alone browser.It isn't very WM5 compatible and probely developing stopped.
If you like skyfire...then this is for you.

I'll have to try it..
its hong kong only
its about time!
daaaaang its about freaking time, there needs to be some more browser competition
it is for hong kong, but i dunno of its bad to do but you can use any 8 digit number that starts with a 9 (thats what hong kong uses for their cell numbers ive read) which is what i did and it allows you to download the trial. i tested it out on a tmobile wing and it runs pretty slow. not sure if its because of the phone itself or the browser but all in all its almost not even worth using on the wing.
Great piece of software, works great in playing flash videos. Much faster than Skyfire and better flash vide quality. Just one question, at me, the seek bar doesn' work in Built in Player. Any ideas ?
will try it out
keeps asking me register and never loads any website
You have to pay to use the servers.......?
good find and thanks .
it's pretty quick but renders pages a little too roughly for me
youtube works , but very choppy video that is un watchable
other flash video do not work
zooming is terrible, it needs some sort of adaptive zoom , otherwise very primitive
interesting text input , similar to iphone ... it opens up a a blank page
buttons and menu are finger friendly
skyfire definitely much more usable but I still prefer my opera mobile 9.5 any day
Thanks, but I prefer Skyfire....
it works only on wm 6 and 6.1 any chance to let it work on wm5? please
I have never seen web browser like that before..it is amusing.. it is the best web browser.. opera 9.7 beta is poor. skyfire may be reach mach5 ability.. it is amazing.. fast and useful..
Great App!
Hero Adobe Flash Tutorial v0.1a
A few things to note before we start:
This tut is intended to illustrate what I do to increase
the playability of browser based flash in hero.
If the flash content requires direction key input, your out of luck.
Flash on hero is flash 8.0 afik, so no flash games/apps/etc
that utilize a later build of adobe flash will work, or the flash
window will end up looking like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This means it will not load.
Needed:
Hero - Haykuro
HTC Hero Speedup - tehseano
Open Overclocker (market link)
Advanced Task Manager (market link)
I will not explain how to set up any of these, because they have their own
After you obtain/install all of these:
Cpu:
Use open overclocker to overclock to 527.15 MHz, flash is
cpu intensive, so we give it all the help we can
Internet Connection:
It would be preferable to be on wifi, but 3g(H) will do, the
internet throughput does not really hinder flash unless the
game itself dynamically draws content, such as video
Browser:
Plenty of websites come up as mobile sites by default.
The Hero browser user-agent is not set to android.
From my own experiences the mobile version default
non-agent based versions are meant to be, browser independent.
Since most mobile browsers do not have flash capability,
the mobile versions of sites usually do not include flash.
If you uncheck Browser --> Menu --> More --> Settings --> Mobile View
you will disable the mobile versions of most websites, thus allowing you to view all their flashy goodness.
Memory:
The Rosie launcher(com.htc.launcher) takes up quite a bit of memory, and memory is what we need for quick, snappy flash, here is a rundown:
This is what were after:
this is prior to launching the browser, but we want the browser to allocate as much memory as it can
This can be achieved by using Advanced Task Manager and ending task on most Applications and Processes.
After:
Is it a bad thing to terminate Applications and processes?
Yes in a general sense. But I have confirmed that this
does in fact work. Notice that I have terminated Rosie as well.
Some if not all processes and applications will start again if you hit home.
To avoid this, we long press home and bring up our previously loaded browser.
The example of what to terminate provided in the pictures is by no means
what you should actually end. It is just an example of what you
possibly could terminate.
Playing a Flash Game
As an example I am going to load a game called CurveBall
This version, off of this site uses Adobe flash 7 or 8, so it is usable.
If you try and play it in the browser itself it will not function correctly.
For this simple game you need to be able to perform mouse(finger)
dragging actions to move the paddle around. This can not be done
from the hosted SWF embedded within the browser. If you try
to move the paddle it will only pan the browser.
Solution: Long press the flash window and select Play in full screen
This will not only allow you to use the dragging motion within
the game, but it will also fit the game to the screen
and force it to landscape.
After all of that you should now have a fully working flash game,
running at full speed, fully playable.
You can use this method on more intensive flash content as well.
just my $0.02
This might just be all a bunch of bologna, but I have noticed an improvement.

of course it is like every big browser. we've got a free internetbrowser and they our internet behavior^^
no jk.. maybe^^
its a very good one i prefer it to opera.
technically it's not freeware, it's a "concept version" It will expire at some point..
One day I hope theyll release the proper thing so that those of us who bought the last one can get an upgrade with everything working..
Over gprs in "simple mode" browsing things like this forum is perfect, strips out all the uneeded stuff and makes it very fast.
Not sure if anyone can help. I've been using the NetFront 3.5 Concept browser for a while but I have an issue with it.
For some reason when I am typing text into a webpage using it, be it into google or any other page, the text I am typing doesn't display until I move off the text entry box (tab, or press the right cursor key).
I've been living with it for the last few releases but would really like to get it sorted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help.
Typing in usernames / google searches / facebook replies blind is fairly tricky. If I am writing anything other than a few words I tend to drop to notes or Word and then copy and paste.
Apologies if this is the wrong section to post in, but I thought it was somewhere to start.
I'm using a TyTn II branded as an XDA Stella.
Thanks
IAn
This concept version has the following restrictions:
* The trial period for this software expires on November 30, 2009

Great app! Will test asap
Yeah, good job. Works flawlessly on my phone (Xperia X1, WM 6.1) with Opera Mobile 10.
Amazing work buddy. Works perfectly on Opera Mobile 10 on TG01. I saved the file to my Opera Mobile 10 folder in Program Files.
Always wondered what opera:config was all about. Know of a way to enable word prediction in Opera? Only seemed to work in older versions of Opera.
