Any users who still wish to fulfill their pledges, please send your donation to your chef of choice that provided you with a Desire HD ROM with working camera. This is by no means mandatory.
____________________________________________________________________
I know that I'm not the only one using a Desire HD ROM on my HD2 and I know that I'm not the only one wishing the camera would just get fixed already... I'm hoping that this thread will create a reason for dev's to fix the damn thing once and for all. It is, after all, practically the last 'important' thing that needs to be fixed to have a nearly perfect Desire HD ROM.
I will start the bounty by offering $25.00 USD to whoever makes using the Desire HD camera on the HD2 possible meeting ALL of the below conditions.
Conditions that need to be met:
1. Camera must be able to be installed via ROOT method or ADB for those who are using existing Desire HD ROMs and also be possible for ROM chef's to cook it into their ROMs.
2. Must be 5mp
3. Flash must work.
4. NO green hue.
5. NO thunder cloud.
6. AT LEAST 800x480 video recording
7. Zoom must work.
8. Some users say that they also want working Camera Effects as seen in numerous youtube videos.

What's so great about the Desire HD build that you would spend money to have the camera work rather than just use another Evo or Nexus One based build that has a working camera?

Just my thoughts...
Check out this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791151 they already have 580 on the bounty for the Nexus One. I dont know if their fix would not effect ours but if it does the combination of the two bounties may open a few more eyes to the benifit of getting the camera working on the Desire HD ports!

Not relevant I'm afraid. They already got the Desire HD camera working on some Motorola device but in no way shape or form did it help with the development of the "Desire HD'2" camera development.
Valiant effort though.

Count me in for 20$!

http://www.iwindroid.com/windows-mobile/windows-phone-7-for-htc-hd2-to-be-released-soon/
if cotulla and DFT team got the camera to work for WP7 on the HD2, couldn't that contribute to the camera fix for Desire HD2?

Me for $20 too...

Xoom at Staples for $399 ($499.98 - $100 coupon)

Staples has a $100 discount on any tablets and that makes the Xoom $399.
I had bought the Xoom from Staples when they only had $50 coupon and today they refunded another $50 when I showed the new coupon. Thy returned the previous purchase and sold it back to me at the lower price.

Thanks for bringing attention to this coupon zzxyz! I found the coupon over in the XDA_Developers Asus Transformer forum earlier this morning. I bought my TF over a month ago but I bought my Xoom at Best Buy 9 days ago when the price dropped to $499.00. I took the Staples coupon in to Best Buy and asked them if they could do anything for me. They handed me $106.65 in cash. Awesome! Xoom for $399.00 Thanks again for bringing attention to this coupon in our Xoom forum!

sweet. bought xoom at best buy last week for $499.00..think I'll try this and see if I can get some money back....
Crazy deal they got going on. You can get a Dell Streak 7 for $199. Not too shabby if you're on a budget.
I'm getting the xoom next week on friday (July 29th) after I cash my check. Spending all of my money on that thing.
picked mine up today and am loving it. Great price!
Is there a way to know where the Xoom was purchased or would you need the receipt?

You would need the reciept for staples. They also have 15% off all the tablet accessories at time of purchace and 25% back in rewards store wide (tablets and normal exclusions apply)
Also their accidental damage plans are being fulfilled with cash cards for store credit not refurbished...
Dell streak 200 with coupon
Xoom 400
Acer iconia 300
And more pretty slick
(Somewhat of a staples bias )
Just so everyone knows places that price match also are taking the coupon. I just picked up an Asus Transformer at HH Gregg for 399.99. They honored Staples coupon.
Try Best Buy as well

xoom!!! (You are on the xoom forum)
Great support from independent developers.
Honestly chances are you will be happy with either. I wouldn't stress too much. If you wait a couple of months what's to stop you from waiting a couple more months and then more and more.
There will Always be something around the corner that will be better, and I don't see anything coming soon that's would be worth waiting for.

More cheap USB drives

Best Buy has a few more USB drives on sale. The Kingston ones are only on sale today.
SanDisk - Cruzer 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive - $7.99
SanDisk - Cruzer 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive - $5.99
Update: The following are no longer on sale.
Kingston Technology - DataTraveler Special Edition 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive -$7.99
Update: Amazon has price matched the Kingston USB. Free Prime shipping for those who have it.
Kingston Technology - DT Special Edition 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive - $4.99
Kingston ones are no longer on sale.
I bought a 32GB Kingston USB3.0 Stick for like $17.00 CAD on sale -- which they frequently are -- and at the time of posting, roughly $20.00 on several reputable hardware sites.
Their write speed isn't anything to write home about -- for usb3.0 anyway..
“ SpeedOut_0.5 ... Read = 35.211mb/s; Write = 17.803mb/s. Real world ... I average ~7mb/sec. ”

However, I get write speeds of ~ 15mb/s via usb3.0 port on my GB-990FXA-UD7, and overall it's a decent unit and great value IMO.

Yea, basically, you should always start a new thread if it's a different deal. Just a general rule of thumb. It's more likely to get passed over and missed by people if it gets appended to an existing thread.
We want everyone to be able to take advantage of great deals like yours, so a new thread is the best way for it to get noticed. Also people can discuss their thoughts on the deals more easily in separate threads.

Available for £350 at Clove and Handtec UK !

Yes, amazing price (that's why I put an exclamation mark in my title).
Price includes vat, don't know how much the postage is.
Green colour not available from Clove, available at Handtec but costs a lot more.
Wow. That's actually an insane price. I'm seriously tempted the cancel my Sony Store order and get it through these guys instead.

2 quick questions as I'm a newbie to importing:
1) Do I have to pay "VAT" if I'm importing to the United States?
2) Would Sony honor the warranty on this 'grey market' device in the United States?
Thanks for any help you can give
Wow, indeed. I'll probably order from Handtec soon.

You'll need to pay the vat as it's been sold in the UK and the taxman will want his cut of that sale.
Don't know about the warranty, it could be a European one or Worldwide, you'll need to contact the seller or Sony to check.
Also you'll need to check that the GSM will work in your region.
Update - No vat to pay for exporting.
I'll probably order a red one from Clove tomorrow,I hope this isn't a typo and they honor the price. I'm sure though I've seen it on Clove before at £420, so it does look like this is a genuine price reduction.
http://www.handtec.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-16gb-green.html
£425.99 incVAT
£354.99 exVAT
Thanks for the info on the low price! Went ahead and ordered one from Clove.
Ordered mine. Great price. Happy to see Sony going for volume over margin. Hope to see lots of development on this, as it should be incredibly popular. Honestly expected it to be £500 at the Sony store and ~£440 at the cheaper retailers.
Re: importing to the US, you shouldn't need to pay VAT (contact the retailer to make sure they don't charge - may be better to order over the phone), but you will need to pay import / customs duty and possibly sales tax in your state in the US.
Me too. Brilliant value
GREAT! Thanks!
Just brought a red/orange one from Handtec, since they use DPD which is my favorite delivery company.
Does anybody know if the phone their sell is UK model, EU or grey import?
P.S. DPD will give you 1 hr window slot in the morning of delivery, and you can track the drive on a map to see roughly when you will get your delivery within the 1hr time frame. Much better than other company's 8am to 6pm delivery time frame, too afraid to go the the bathroom for missing the door bell approach.

There are only two models: D5803 and D5833. The D5803 has UK and EU bands, as well as bands for some US carriers. The D5833 is the one for Asian markets. You can be sure the Handtec one is the D5803.
Handtec removed the green z3c and also matched price with clove - both are about 290 GBP without VAT
Ordered mine today and was pleasantly surprised when it came out to 290 GBP at the checkout since I'm from Canada and don't have to play the VAT fee! Best pre-order pricing for a beastly phone eVar!
P.S. LULz at all the Apple fanboys waiting in line and paying nearly twice as much for a significantly more inferior phone, but hey, whatever floats your boat!

Hah! Yeah, I've seen that graphic make its rounds around social media. Classic. But also true! So by 2016, the iPhone 7 may have finally caught up to the Z1 Compact.
Ordered mine from Clove yesterday, with shipping to Mexico so no VAT.
I can't wait for this to be delivered!

From history, it has always been the case that sim free Sony phones from any outlet always allow unlocking of the bootloader. I doubt that this would change this generation.
Hah! Just noticed Clove is basically selling the Z3C for the same price as a Z1C. That's crazy!

Where to buy in New York?

Hi, as an unhappy owner if the Nexus 5X, I am looking to buy a 6P. As an EU resident however, I won't put up with the ridiculous price over here. Luckily for me, I am going to NY next week, and if I manage to find one for the right price, I will definitely get one.
I want to ask some local people for some tips and places where to look for one. It also doesn't have to be new..even refurbished or second hand in great condition would do.
Thanks

Best Buy in NY have it in stock. Check their website.f
Check bestbuy, create an account if it is in stock and you can just pick it up with your photo ID and CC if you're afraid it'll be out of stock by the time you get there.

So 499 is the lowest as I can get? What about some places that sell used or refurbished ones?
Thanks

It's not New York, but they're refurbished.

OP: I assume you know that the US version (1511) only supports certain bands of the international version (1512) that may limit the usage in EU and elsewhere. A reminder post, if nowt else.

A store known to most in the NY and NJ area called b & H photo had them even cheaper.... 32 gb for 425 and 64 gb for 475, no tax and included a $50 gift card to use at the b&h store now. Unfortunately, those sales ended a couple of days ago on March 27th. I was lucky enough to get the 64 gb for 475

got one on order myself through the B&H website unfortunately when I placed mine they had just ran out of stock and the availability date keeps getting pushed back. Went from 3/29 to 4/8 now. Disappointed as I've had good luck with them in the past

B&H is awesome. They recently had a sale where all 6P's were 50 cheaper plus a 50$ gift card... So everyone bought from them, that's why they are now ridiculously backordered.

yes probably going to somehow find some patience if I still want that discount  I'm sure it doesn't help that I got the 64 GB graphite which I see as potentially quite popular.
Looking forward to the upgrade from the original Nexus 5 to the 6p though. hopefully they won't make me wait too long

Ouch... Not right this is the only version for sale. On JD.com there are 2 others...
The 6gb ram 128gb rom version is 4099 Yuan, equivalent to approx $650 USD...
The 4gb 128gb version is closer to the $550USD mark.

I understand that but that is still a bit ripe, offering the least amount of ram/rom when they could give the best to and people would probably buy it. After doing the conversion it is only $610USD, for that $100 more I'd certainly double the rom space and add 2 gb to the RAM not to mention the 3d touch or "force feedback" on the 6gb model...

When I posted the deal it was 509$+9$ shipping. Now they changed it to 529$ with free shipping.
For me it's only 5% tax so 25.90$ tax
The problem I have with this is, is it appears to be the US version sold by newegg. So basically no warranty in Canada. ZTE Canada website doesn't have a mention of the Axon 7 anywhere.

I'm not sure but maybe you ship it to newegg which then ships it to ZTE USA directly for repair?
