Solution (Tested Personally) :
To get Wi-Fi fixed on your Samsung Galaxy I 9000 follow the instructions detailed below :
Make sure Wi-Fi is ON and Navigate to Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Wi-Fi Settings, now click the left-side context-menu button on your phone to bring-up Advanced option and click it.
Now to get things working we will need to make cellphone use a static IP address for Wi-Fi, check the Use Static IP option and proceed with entering values manually.
If you are not sure what values to use take a look at your network-adapter status on computer, here are my settings (should works on most default router setups).
Enter all values and your screen should now look like the one below.
Now go back to your Wi-Fi settings page and click your access-point name and it should show you the manually entered IP value.
Your Wi-Fi issues should be now over.
If you need help with manual values do ask here.

I don't mean to be offensive but your recommendations make no sense at all...
You are saying: if you have wifi troubles switch from DHCP assigned ip-addresses to static ip-addresses, using the settings which are personal to _your_ setup at _your_ house.
If for some reason static-ip-address gives you a better connectivity I suggest you start investigating your DHCP configuration in your network.

No offense taken, but being a system administrator and software developer for 9 years I know what I am talking about. The "DHCP configuration" on my network/router is fine, it is working flawlessly for past few years with 8 computers on the LAN with multiple wi-fi devices connecting to it almost on daily basis - only SGS gets the Wi-Fi blues; it is the 'SGS DHCP' driver implementation which is having issues - without a static IP SGS connects and works for some time but have issues re-connecting automatically after a screen-off or long break. I personally had used my iPhone 3G on this setup for more then a yaear (and many other phones/devices occasionally) without a hiccup and problems were there on SGS from very first day until I used the STATIC IP.
Here are some forum/blog posts/user opinions confirming the SGS wifi issue and the static ip solution :

If you are having SGS Wi-fi issues, have you tried this solution ?
Thanks for the tip. But I was wondering how the wifi would perform if you were at a wifi zone other than your house wifi with these settings. For example, university library or a coffee shop. Would the wifi connectivity get distorted due to these settings when we're using free wifi such as the above mentioned?
I haven't tried this but have the same concern about switching to other wifi networks. My data plan includes free wifi connection to the Cloud, BT Openzone and other wifi hotspots. I would be concerned at the effect of a static IP address on those.
I have only noticed an issue with wifi since upgrading to Froyo. Sometimes the phone dies not switch back from 3G or HDSPA when I return to a wifi zone. The workaround is to switch wifi off and back on again. I have an unlimited data plan so the only concern is speed but that does make it annoying.

Now connects but no Data Transfer
Hello ApnaDroid,
Thanks for your trick.. Now I can get "connected" but cannot have any data transfer.. when I connect to my wifi router (my modem and wifi router are seperate units) which is on 10.1.1.10, I dont see it connected and having data transfer. Strangely, when I see under WiFi routers wireless statistics, I cann see the MAC address of the Galaxy S showing this in front "STA-ASSOC".
That means, that I am getting connecetd to the wifi alright.... but no data transfer... MIND YOU, WITH NO CHANGES TO THE SAME WIFI, WHEN I FACTORY RESET, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.
Please guide. Is there any way to patch this in Froyo Build DDJP6.
Regards
PS ; Is there any way I can reset the Wifi to factory settings without Hard Formatting (Factory Formatting) my Galaxy S ???
This solved it..

After doig all the above, I again switched back and unchecked the "Static IP". Then voila... I tried this...i open allshare app which go to wifi settings and connect to the wifi then just close allshare and you have wifi
Went to allshare ad enables wifi... IT WORKS...
As soon as I updated to Froyo I had the same issue with regards to wifi refusing to reconnect to my Netgear WNR2000 at home after a short while, it was fine with Eclair and worked fine with a Draytek 2600 at work after update.
My solution was to change the Netgear router to use WPA2 encryption and not mixed WPA/WPA2, have not had a problem since. I have not tried other methods yet.
Woah, the AllShare method really worked for me. I went out one day and tried to connect unsuccessfully to a hotspot. When I came back, the Wifi didn't work and was stuck at "Obtaining an IP address". Nothing else worked, but accessing the wifi settings through Allshare, gave it an external ip address, (169.152.647.201 or something or other) and from there, refreshed to obtain a local IP within the proper subnet.
Thanks akshayadv!
Also, guys you may try to remove dhcp reservation for galaxy from your routers. Helped meh.

Hi,
My Stock 2.1 did not have any wifi problems. Now updating to stock 2.2 it does. Found a little app on market, Wifi Fixer from Zanshin which did not do anything to improve. Uninstalled it again. Restarting my Bogpond Netgear cable modem router (CG814WGv3) did do the trick for about 2 minutes before dropping again. Another time the wifi stays on but no connection to internet. Which is not correct as other wifi phone does connect as well as my wifi laptop and this computer. Phone reboot will fix wifi for a little while. So I do think this is a Froyo 2.2 issue and dont want to change the router settings as it did work before without a problem. I dont want to go the static IP route for now.
I am wondering if it has anything to do with maybe my Aura gps program. Not so much because of the gps, but because the program wants a data connection at times. Similar with google maps I hear... I see some people suggesting this may create a conflict when only on wifi even though it initially works, something with re-associating the wifi. I am not that technical, so I leave it for your consideration...
???
I would like to find out more about the Allshare method. Could not find an app on market with this name, what is it, where to find, and how to go about it?
Any other solutions or fixes? (I find so many posts/threads, which so little on possible fixes.)
Phone details in signature.
Thanks
Dear VeenK,
All Samsung Galaxy S Froyo ROMs have an app called allshared which comes pre-installed. (Mine is DDJP6 with OCLF installed). I have been using this to connect to the internet. I havent changed any settings like Static IP or the like.. Its just factory settings which are left untouched in my phone.
Method : Just start your Allshare app and when it askes to connect to WiFi, click OK. When the WiFi is connected in allshared, simply close the app and you have the working WiFi. (downside is that the WiFi will have to be connected again using allshare after power off and power on)
Try the allshare app and let us know your feedback... (It has worked for me everythime.. A bit frustrating though that you have to do it off anf on. But its a workaround discovered by me almost by accident. much better than doing a factory reset everytime).
Regards
Thank you, it work for my new I9000 (2.2 IL).
Allshare
Thanks, this workaround worked for me ! Still hate Samsung but at least I can connect to my home wifi again ....

I had to start the AllShare app only ONCE and never more, even after phone reboot.
I am currently using "Static IP" solution since I had v2.2 installed and it works everywhere (DHCP/public cafes(nobody must have the same IP number as the IP number I assigned for my phone), Static/home).
@ApnaDroid (OP):
Great tutorial with pics!
But for DNS1 and DNS2 I think you need to input "192.168.1.1" (router's IP number) in both fields, because "192.168.1.2" is the first device connected to your router.

Please help, ive had my hd2 for a few days now and have had nothing but problems, might just give it back!
It picks up my home router but simplify wont connect, it just displays a small rotating circle likes it working but nothings happening.
When i remove the settings and retype the key code it keeps saying incorrect code but it isnt,
Anyone any ideas, can i some how reset the wifi settings, its taken me a few days to customize the phone so i dont really want to do a hardwear reset. Ive already a software restset.
Bloody htc!
What protocal are you using on your router? WPA, WEP?
Oh if your using an older Belkin router, I know of about 3-4 models that used to have trouble with WinMo, an update Router flash fixes it though.
Give us some more info on your router etc and Im sure we can help though
Sure your using the right password/key? if it says its wrongs it is probably wrong lol. Maybe try changing it to a more basic password as a test? like "password" and see if it can get connect.

Hi
Calm down. Give some information about your router and the type of security You use.
try these
1. Reset the router once
2. If you use MAc access list on the router then add your device's MAC to the list.
3. If you use N router then in the settings untick N mode protection.
Give more details about the third party software on the hd2 using radios (eg: tomtom, igo, gpstuner like these)
Good luck
HI guys thanks for helping out.
Obvious first - yes the key code is correct i use it on my laptop and iphone.
security mode says WAP-PSK/WPA2-PSK. Its a siemens ive been on the ip server addres and cant see any issues, im on my laptop using the wifi now and its working perfet.
Ive tried everything, changing passwords, settings both on the router and on the phone.
The hd2 is full of really stupid bugs!
Try to hardreset the PPC.
If it won't work, try to update your ROM to the latest available.
If it doesn't want to work, then try to connect to another WiFi without password and see the connection is successful.
If it works with an unprotected WiFi, try to connect to a different router but with protected WiFi.
If it works, then there is a problem with your router and I suggest to update your router's firmware.
funny wifi
the problem wit my hd2 is most of the time it shows wifi connected but i cant surf the internet and sometimes out of the blues it connects to the internet, cant figure out wats happening....
HI kholk, thanks for the help, ill work my way through it and hopefully get it sorted!

Have you found the solution? I can help you my friend i had the same situation
I tried to connect yesterday my hd2 with my router. First it wasnt working aswell. Then i set the next things. Channel 9 (was auto), Encryption AES (was tkip and AES). Network mode is Mixed. Further have you installed Mac Filter? I installed this also. So if i have a connection thats it. I must fill in my macadres from my phone for i get fully connected.
Hi guys thanks all for you help call HTC UK support and their amazing advice was to do a full hard reset!
I really am having a lot of problems with this phone and i cant understand why their have been so many issues?!
Hi guys,
I have the same problem- HD2 shows it is connected, but no access to Internet(other- laptop, SE990 phone is connected and working OK)
For not to write about all, now situation is:
1. On router wrt54g2 temporary disabled wireless security, only mac filtering is on(laptop mac, SE mac, HD2 mac is allowed), router firmware is up to date
2.HD2 is like new after hard reset, no settings is done for connection to home network. HD2 wifi is on, looking for access points and connecting to only one available open network in my area- to my home network and shows it is connected but no access to Internet.
3. In router I can see all connected clients by mac. All 3(lap, SE, HD2) are connected. I use Network Magic software too but it is showing only my laptop and desktop are connected. SE is not connected according NM, but it is working OK.
P.S.
Do not know what else can help you in my problem(maybe some other router setting, but as other devices are connected without problems so maybe it is not important for now)
So only my HD2 can not access WWW
Can You guys help somehow please
I've got a similar problem with an HD2 over here. Wifi does switch on, but it just won't connect to my router. The cirkel that is supposed to show when connecting to a network doesn't show either. I'm using WPA2-AES security, and yes, i did use the proper network key. I haven't tried connecting to other networks/using an alternative encryption method because a lot of other devices will then have to be reconfigured and it's not my own place. My Touch HD and 2 laptop connect to the network without any problems. The only solution I came across until now is doing a hard reset, which I would rather not do... I'm using a stock dutch rom (V1.43). Is it possible that upgrading to the newer 1.48 will solve this problem?
Have you tried removing the wireless security password and trying again? Test to see if maybe you are indeed typing in the password wrong.
Also check your exception list on your router, it might be blocking any other devices coming in.
I have the same problem.. Get the spinning loading circle and thats it.. But if i turn my belkin wires g router running wpa2 off then straight back on again the phone connects fine. But if i then leave my house or disconnect from the network then try and reconnect it wont and have to do the same process again. Luckily im also running a speedtouch 585 modem router which the phone connects fine to.
hey maybe it takes only a WEP key and not WPA as most people have. this is certainly the case as mentioned in the Wifi router article below -
http://www.mobilityminded.com/5438/wi-fi-router-on-htc-hd2-application-overview
Again me
It seems that it is problem with my router. HD2 was able to connect to open wireless a.p. in my town and all sow to my friends router which is using WPA security. So my linksys is not compatible, or i will try some other settings on it, but as other router clients have no problems, i am loosing my hope to have my HD2 connected at home unless i change router. But then another problem- which router will be compatible with all my devices in prise range of 100$
And replying to blackheart2925 my friend is using wpa not wep, i do not know other settings on his router but it is not security problem.
One thing is strange for my HD2 shows it is connected, router shows mac of HD2 among connected clients, but only HD2 do not have access to internet

Yes, i am going to hard resset my router, but have not much hope i sucsess
PROB:
If your HD2 connects to router but you cannot enter any web site, do this:
SOLUTION:
enter your www router settings - wireless - access control - MAC Address Filtering Table ->>>>> add your HD2 MAC adress
enter your www router settings - firewall - access control ->>>>> add your HD2 MAC adress
so, you have to add your MAC adress of HD2 into router TWO TIMES into TWO PLACES!
I had the same problem and..... solved
Hello all,
I love my X10, but the frustration with getting it to connect to my Netgear DG834 router was getting to me, so I dedicated an afternoon to working out a solution and I've found one that works for me, so I hope it'll work for you too.
Summary of problem
--------------------
The phone will connect to the Router once, and once only. Any attempt to re-connect to the wifi will result in the phone disconnecting, scanning again, then discinnecting until the user gives up. Nothing will cause the phone to reconnect (telling it to forget the connection for example). The only surefire way to reconnect is to reboot the router each time - not ideal.
Manually adding a Static IP also doesn't work - which is weird as that is how I've solved it, see below.
Scale of problem
----------------
The problem seems to be with the router and not necessarily the phone as it appears to be on a wide range of phones (Hero, Droid, Touch HD etc.). Seeing at the DG834 is the most popular router in the world, and Android is growing all the time, there are a large number of people affected.
However Iphone and Symbian phones appear to be unaffected.
Reason for the problem
-----------------------
Currently unknown, but appears to be something to do with the handshaking procedure when a device asks the router for an address (DHCP) - though as to what I don't know.
Solution
--------
1) Download an app called WiFiStatic from the App Market. WiFiStatic takes each DHCP assigned IP address and stores it in a small database to be re-applied whenever you are back in range of the same Router again. It is not an ideal solution as you may have to re-scan and re-assign if you visit a busy hotspot, but this is a two press function, so it's not that onerous.
2) Turn off your Router. Make sure the WiFi on your phone is off too.
3) With the router off, clear your Remembered WiFi connections (or at the very least the Netgear connection). Once that's done, turn the Router on again and wait until it is full back up again.
4) When the Router is fully operational again, turn on your wifi on the phone and let is scan for and connect to the Netgear Router. You may need to tell it to connect from the Wireless Settings menu on the phone.
5) The phone should now connect to the Router successfully. If it doesn't, repeat the above procedure.
6) With the phone connected to the router, fire up WiFiStatic. Check Auto Switch and Show Visual Prompt if they are not already selected, then Tap Add configuration at the bottom of the screen.
7) The IP address and other settings assigned by your router should be displayed at the top of the screen, at the bottom should be the name of your router and its MAC address. If not then tap Menu > Generate to populate the form.
8)Tap Menu > Done when everything is ok.
That's it. Now when you move into range of your Netgear, you should get connected, though it does take a bit longer than normal (the Router still wants to assign an address first before accepting the static IP). You can speed this up by changing the Device table on the router to always keep the Phone's static IP open.
This shouldn't work as all my other attempts with Static IP failed, but I've had five days now of instant connection to WiFi at home, so something has been freed up.
i can not tell you how seeing this post was like finding bin ladin in the white house. Prob would have found him twice trying to solve this WIFI problem. And the strange thing is this is the 1st phone i have had that there are so few posts about it...is everyone on that icrack? scary. cheers to you...
Thank you for posting this.
I tried this with my and it seems it doesn't make a difference for me. I still can only connect once to the router and for me to connect again i have to restart the router again. Am i missing something?
Problem is when I connect for the first time at home it works then when i leave to the office i use the wifi there and never have any problems there but when i get back home it doesn't work. Do you guys switch the wifi off manually when you are not using it?
one thing that is almost always overlooked is updating the router's firmware. this usually solves a number of issues. I dont know about netgear but it's worth a try to update

That was one of the first thing i tried....it seems i have the latest firmware.
Is this an issue for a lot of people then? Ive one of these routers and never had an issue connecting any phones to it. Had 3 nokias and 3 different android phones, currently on the x10, and they all connected fine everytime.
i have some troubles in x10i wifi connection and holp someone helps me~
------------------------------
im chinese, my x10i have had the lastest firmware but the phone cant connect the AP which set the channel is "13". but i used it long before and suddy just one day i find it dosnt work~ it cant scan(and find) the AP anymore !
then i have tried and config the router in another wifi channel(just like 1,8,11..) and the phone can scan and refind the AP.
i have tried to reload the phone's default setting, but it dont work(in channel 13)ToT
---------------------------
someone tell me why? and someone give me some suggest?
in china , lots of router's wifi channel are using "13" by default(factory setting);so, if my x10i cant works in that channel means i couldnt find the "opend APs" which in the public place(like KFC~~)
THX to help~

Thank you! I have spent three days trying to get my phone to re-connect to a DG834v5.
Your solution has worked! I had gone as far as reserving an IP address on the router and linked it to the MAC of the phone... no dice. The phone would connect once and then never again until the router was reset. Really irritating because I have two PPPoe connections running through the router with a routing table that has to be re-loaded via telnet every time the router is reset. I was considering a new phone or a new router.
HI,
I have near the same problem.
But I found out that when I remove on the access point the hidden function ( SID ) then it works perfect.
so that is a bug in the ROM of the X10, I have the R2b026.
At the moment everone can see my Access Point but I can live with that solution.
Worked for me! Many many thanks this had been infuriating me...
Same problem here - never had an issue with any other router, so I blame Netgear...
Let's just hope this works - it's been driving me crazy for the past 5 days...
Neh, hasn't worked for me....
Stupid freakin' Netgear...
works on the HD2 aswell. Thanks alot!
Not just Netgear, maybe Android

WORKS! I can't believe it, finally i can disconnect and connect without having to reset my router everytime. BIG thanks man!
alright, it worked fine for the first 5-6 hours. then it went back to not connecting without rebooting the router. this problem happens only with my home router, at work i can connect fine, as well as in other places.
any thoughts or solutions? i mean it did work in the beginning, then why did it stop? shall i change my router?
P.S.: i noticed that every time i connect to my home router i get the same IP address and all the stats are the same.
I just bought a Rogers arc and everything is great so far, except the wifi. For whatever reason when i try to connect to my home network, although it recognizes it and connects i get a "limited connectivity" which effectively does not allow me to use wifi at all. ive tryed rebooting the phone and reseting my router (which is a D-link DI-524.) any help would be appreciated.
you could go in the router settings and register the phones mac address to a ip of your choice. it should do the trick i think...
I finally figured out what the problem was, i had to update the firmware on the router and then manually add the MAC address like dogggie said and after a reboot voila!
I don't want to make another thread since my problem is similar to this one. So in my school there is a hiden Wi-FI network and it has got a password, but we know Name and Password, so we can connect to Wi-Fi. But here is the thing: My friend who has SGS2 connect's without any problems, but everytime I try to connect to Wi-FI i get "Limited Connectivity" mesage. Is there any way to fix this? Can I somehow get Gateway and Netmask from router, so I can set static IP on my phone or sometheing like that?
Thanks for answers.

Zanimivo, na kero šolo hodš?
I have the same problem. Hidden Wi-Fi in school, limited connectivity. Works for some people, doesn't for most.
I have used CM7 for some time and the Wi-Fi worked with it, but I flashed the stock ROM back and now, again, it doesn't work.
Oo, another one form Slovenia Lep pozdrav. Šola je pa TŠC Kranj.
It also worked for me when I was testing Offical Beta ICS, but now I am back on stock 2.3.4 and all I can get is limited conectivity
tsckr
tehniskikranj
Same school.
Today it works. I have just manual set gateway, DNS servers, netmask and my own IP.
Cool. Mind sharing the values you used?
My Wifi connected to my home router perfectly until I flashed the custom rom.
Now it wont work. the phone recognizes my network, then tries to connect but it pauses at the obtaining ip address bit and doesn't connect?
I tried to restart the router. It doesn't work.
I tried to reflash the rom or offical rom (KE7). It doesn't work.
I also tried to delete the file /data/misc/dhcp/dhcp_list, but there are no "dhcp_list" file inside 'dhcp'
Do anyone have another way to solve this problem?
Thanks
Could be a problem with the router, are other devices able to acquire IP addresses from it correctly?
Perhaps you should assign a static IP to see if that makes a difference.
I am on KE7 stock rom with root and had this problem too. It just started yesterday and got stuck at obtaining ip adress. So I switched WIFI off and flight mode on and after some seconds wifi on and flight mode off and it connected. I also noticed that now sometimes when it is in standby it disconnects from the wifi network (but wifi is still ON) and when I wake it up it connects to my network.
Me too, same problem.
If wifi is ruled on "sleep when screen turn off", it don't wake when screen turn on.
It stay on " searching for IP adress...".
For the moment, I'm forced to leave wifi on "never" and I use Juice defender for disabling wifi on screen off.
I really think it's a common pb with SGS 2. May be it will be fixed with 2.3.4.
Same problem. I 'fix' it by turning off wifi then turning it back on and it gets an IP address immediately.
same problem here with a dlink dir-615 router. from time to time the phone can't get an ip, and it only works if i reboot the router. didn't try with another router yet ( well, i connected to a few more but not frequent so i can see if there are problems), but i ordered a new one anyways since the dlink also crushes my battery too.
try posting the brand/model of the router you have problems with, maybe there's some specific ones that are troublesome.
d-link dir-615 here / ke7 stock - rooted
I also have a dlink router. But I get the same problem with a Belkin.
With my first SGS, no problem. I really think it's a specific issue on SGS2.
I'd read in some place that 2.3.4 will fix some wifi problem known for the moment on 2.3.3...
Let's see...
I'm seeing this with both my home router (Netgear WNDR3700) and my office router. Disabling & re-enabling WiFi on the SGS2 solves it -- fortunately, it's easily accessible on the notifications panel.
Same thing with Dlink dir 815.

Same thing here with Draytek 2820 router, all other devices (PC's Phones, PDA's etc) have no problem. SGS2 however needs WiFi turning off when waking from sleep to get it to obtain an IP address again. However my HD2 also running Gingerbread 2.3.3 works faultlessly.
KF2 seems, for me and some others, fix the problem...
hi
lucky me, i thought im the only 1 having problem with wifi
my problem, same as the others
the wifi try to connect (obtaining IP) and then disconnected
it will scan again, same thing will happened
try with all type of protocols, wifi b,g,n wep, wpa, no passwd
results still same
try to connect wifi at my office, results also the same
im on KF1 using dlink 615
hopefully someone can help us
tq
Just got my Galaxy S2 today. Cannot connect to wifi network on G or mixed mode, with or without security - just tries to obtain an IP address. Ridiculous.
Any help ? Quick search on Google doesn't bring up too much. There does seem to be an app called "FXR Wifi" but I don't expect to use that on a brand new phone.
Update: Upgraded my router's firmware (WRT54GS) and it works !
I have the same problem with my SGS 2. I can't connect to an AP - NETGEAR DG834G.
I found a partial solution to use my phone with my AP until I solve the problem. In the Wi-Fi settings menu enter Advanced mod and set the IP address, Gateway, Netmask, DNS1 manualy (by touching <Use static IP>). If you don't know what IPs you have to set for IP address, Gateway, etc. just connect with you laptop or desktop and use the settings from your computer. Just make sure you type a different IP address in your mobile (not the one from your computer - for example in you computer you'll find something like this: 192.168.0.3, you'll have to type in your mobile something like this: 192.168.0.10). The rest of the settings have to be identical.
Good luck!
To solve this "obtaining ip address problem". Set the following manually in the advanced configuration and save it.
1. ip address(your choice).
2. subnet mask(255.255.255.0).
3. default gateway(192.168.1.1).
4. dns servers(8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4)
Note: The above given values are the most commonly used, you change it if you want so.
After entering these values manually(and correctly), it will connect to the networ in 1 or 2 seconds.
like mine SG s2, wifi connects works perfectly at home and friends place,
but stucks at obtaining ipaddress for wifi, at the mall and college, ( where it needs first login page for authentication) ( or to agree user terms and regulation),
any idea, how to fix this issue.
Thanks
mine also does this where it doesn't get an ip. Reboot your router or just disable and re-enable the access point feature on the router and it should work without having to reboot it
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
but at university?college or mall, we dont have access to router.
any other idea to fix this
Thanks
Hey guys! Did you find a fix for this problem? I have the same thing happening right now. I tried at different places, home and country house with Zyxel P660HN and Cisco E4200 respectively. Stuck at obtaining IP address...

Hello everyone!
I just got the S4, and im really impressed by it.
But for a heavy youtube user, beein unable to connect to my home wifi is a big problem.
I know this is not 100% the right forum, sice i have the I9505 edition of the phone (I'm from Norway), but I guess this is the best forum to ask.
Whenever I try to connect to my home wifi I immediately get the message "Authentication error occurred" and the S4 wants me to insert password again. I did manage to connect to the wifi for some breef moments using the "Wifi connection manager" application, but it suddenly stopped working after I put the phone to lock screen. I have updated the phone in Kies, Rooted it to maybe find some fixes, rebooted the access point, forgot and reconnected the network, and still no luck
Here is some info on the wifi:
WPA-PSK (personal)
We use an access point for the wireless singals. This is a Moterola AP-5131
But considering there beeing 4 iPhones and 2 laptops already connected to the wifi, I doubt it beeing the AP that is the problem.
I really hope that there is a phone-side fix to this problem, because it is easier to hack into the Matrix than to acces the AccesPoint.

I have noticed the same "authentication error" on mine as well with public sites like Sams club and target to name two. Never had this issue on the S3.
There is a known issue concerning the S4s ability to connect to certain routers or APs. The issue is most prevalent on D-Link equipment but there have been reports of Cisco, Linksys, and other wireless APs having issues as well. Instead of getting a different phone, I opted to get a new router and I have been good ever since.
There is an issue with Android 4.2.x where WiFi will not connect to certain wireless routers or APs as well but with the Galaxy S4, the issue seems to affect more D-Link hardware than any others - I don't know why. It's a really weird problem.
As for correcting the problem, you will basically have to tinker with the wireless settings of the wireless router or AP you wish to connect to until it works - and it may work for only a small period of time. No amount of tinkering worked for my D-Link DIR-655 so I purchased an Asus RT-AC66U and I can connect now. I've heard of success with Netgear routers as well.

Thanks for the replies! I just think its funny how 4 iPhones are connected, but the S4 wont connect.
I think I will try flashing stock firmware a couple of times first, just to be sure that this is not a phone-side error. As i said in my OP, the AP is like the Fort Knox. I will have to serial into it using telnet software, and I dont have the cables.
But as you said, I might end up with buying a new AP :/
That sounds like an awful lot of hell to go through just to change some wireless settings lol. Try changing your security key to AES encryption and see if that works.
I used to relish the battles I fought with my electronic equipment, aka toys lol. Now I just want them to work without a fuss. Thats one big reason I bought a new router.

Yeah it IS hell, but as I said, the only way for me to log into my AP is to reset the damn thing to factory settings first, because I think WAN port access has been disabled In the settings. Bloody buisness solutions -_-
I have tried all the IP adresses suggested In the manuals, and change to static settings to match the submask

Would you happen to have a link for more info in this? I am running a D-Link DIR-655 as well
Edit: I did some poking around and found this/ I did not come up with this I just found it at the site linked below. It seems to have helped me.
-------------------------------------
1. Login to your router
2. Go to the setting for wireless 2.4 (probably radio 1) (For Sitecom go to tab Basic> subtab Wireless 2.4 GHz)
So what i changed here is the 802.11 mode. (there are several modes like: just 802.11b, just 802.11g, just 802.11n, mixed 802.11b and 802.11g, mixed 802.11g and 802.11n ........)
>>> I Put It On: "mixed 802.11g and 802.11n"<<< (it used to be on mixed 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n)
3. Secondly i disabled Auto Channel Scan. This allowed me to select a Wireless Channel (frequency/channel).
>>>I Chose the highest channel ("2.472 GHz - CH13")<<<
4. I used to have the Transmission Rate at the option "best (automatically)"
>>>I changed this to the option: "54" (Mbit/s)<<<
5. I have channel width at the option: "auto 20/40 MHz" (but it always used to be this one)
Furthermore i have the following settings:
> Security mode: "WPA - Personal"
> WPA Mode: "WPA or WPA2"
> Cipher Type: "TKIP and AES"

Yeah thats basically everything one will need to try in order to resolve the problem.
I refuse to slow my router down to 54g though, even if it would have fixed the problem, which it didn't.
Is there any solution on the phone side?
I have the same problem, but the router is in company network, and there is no way I can access it.

I had the same issue. I use a linksys with wpa security. Use tkip cipher. I was on AES and would not connect. Just remember to reconnect your other devices to wifi.

I had that happen when I first tried to connect to my home network. I "forgot" the network, rebooted the phone, and typed everything back in. It worked for me. YMMV
Update firmware on your router/access point.
Then set security to WPA2-Personal.
Use AES. TKIP is more secure but much slower.
Everything else leave on auto/default.
Zapha did you ever find a solution?
I have the AP-5131 at work as well. I have had the the same problem on my HTC Evo 4G LTE since it first upgraded to Jelly bean. Zero issues on ICS. So far every JB ROM I've tried has the same issue. Iphones, ipods and laptops are also connecting fine
So far my only solution has been to unplug wireless and plug it back in. It will reconnect until i wander out of range and i get the error again.

I realize this is a somewhat older thread, so if I need to repost a new one please let me know. My gf and I both have S4s, but only mine is modded. She's currently in the hospital with pneumonia and she asked me if they had a Wi-Fi connection there for her phone. When I searched I found 4 open hotspots, and upon connecting only a webpage came up asking to agree to their terms and conditions before it connected.
Mine, on the other hand showed that it connected without an agreement page, but I wasn't able to use ANY data functions, be it Wi-Fi or LTE. Turning off Wi-Fi didn't help the issue, so only a reboot got my LTE working again. This wasn't the first time this has happened to me, but only after connecting hers am I seeing anything else but it connecting (sort of). I should add here that I never have this issue at either my home or hers.
I've tried playing with the settings several times, so I wouldn't be asking if I found a solution... Lol! The only things I can think of are 1) my particular phone is faulty in some respect 2) it could be the rom I'm using, which is Goldeneye 8.0 at the present. In retrospect I've just started to notice this happening in the past month or so... I was able to connect to publics just fine prior to that, no matter if they were passworded or totally open. Any help would be immensely appreciated as always, and again I apologize if I should've created a new thread... Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:
I just want to add that my wife has this funny thing that some android phones cannot connect to the Internet.
Even my very Samsung s7 cannot log in to the net.the strange thing is on the day I bought the phone.it can be connected to wife.but the nx day it just cannot hooked up to the wi Fi.
Even stranger is my old s5 which has been hooked up to wifI previously also cannot connect.
I tried calling up the isp.the usual thing about switching off the router.re connect the cables to try a gin.no luck.the isp tech even said I key in the wrong password.I confirm that my password has never been changed before.I try up teen times to no avail
I finally found out that by retyping your security password on your router wireless settings solved the problem.even if it is the same password as before.I tried it and boom.wifi is back.everything is still the same password and all.but it will not connect until you retype your password again
