I'm S=OFF and that didn't work.

for anyone having problems accessing the recovery after flashing Clockwork Mod, pull the battery and put it back again. Then try accessing the recovery. Worked for me.

Ok stupid question ( haven't tried yet) but do i access the recovery manual via ROM manager or can i hold down the HOME button when i restart?

Please post questions in Q&A section.

Restart the phone and the computer. Try a different USB port. Just keep unplugging and plugging back in until it works. Worked for me.

Rom Manager problem- red exclamation?

Hi
I really need some help..
I flowed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537 guide and all went fine with downgrade and root with Visionary.
I made a test with terminal emulator and got the #, so that looks fine.
My superuser is uptodate. I downloade Rom Manager and tap Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery 2 times saw that thats workes better sometimes. and that looks fine to got 2.5.1.3.
But here the problems come, i went to download CyanogenMode, said yes to Google apps, wipe ect. And the phone reboot but when it starts up again it just show the Grey phone and the red exclamation..
Hope somebody can help me with this.

Looks to me like you haven't got S-OFF so clockwork manager is actually unable to flash Clockwork recovery, certainly clockwork recovery hasn't flashed as the red exclamation mark is the original recovery console. I would boot into fastboot adb fastboot and check that it says S-OFF in the top corner

[Q] Vibrant_AOSPish_JK2 ROM, won't go to recovery

Hi guys i just installed this ROM Vibrant_AOSPish_JK2 on my vibrant and all was perfect. Then i tried to condition my battery. Turned off phone with power cable connected and tried to go into recovery mod but phone stuck at vibrant screen. I pulled power cable turned off the phone and turn it on regularly and all was fine, then i turn it off again without power cable connected and it stuck again on vibrant screen. Then i went to ROM Manager and boot to recovery same thing happened phone stuck on vib screen. And now i cant turn it on anymore it stuck on vibrant screen every time. I tired to pull out battery... What should i do? Thanx in advance
Are you using the three button combo? If so and its still not working, try downloading quickboot from the market.

With the phone hooked up to the computer pullout the battery, sim, & sd card. Then try to reboot into recovery with the volume rocker & power button. Hope that works, good luck!
You need to install busybox to be able to boot into recovery in that Rom

I can't turn on my phone thats the problem... I tried the magic combo without luck... I had busybox installed. Maybe the problem was because i didnt have cwm properly installed. I renamed cwm installation folder to update.zip and that run it from 2e recovery. After that i can access cwm but need to repeat the procedure every time.
Finally i succeeded with Odin to solve my problem. Now im on stock rom again. Only this time i installed cwm 2.5.1.2 trough ROM manager but phone still goes to default recovery i dont know if this is normal? I want to flash to Froyo Rom where i can find clear tested version? Thank you guys for replaying and trying to help

I'm running cwm 2.5.1.2 also, and rooted with froyo+voodoo lag fix on vibrant, phone's running great, just trying to get rid of bloatware right now, my recovery boots fine, I wiped everything then reverted back to stock 2.1 when I had issues then updated through kies to 2.2, ran super one click root, and ran voodoo through odin, got rom manager from market and recovery worked perfect. hope this helps

the problem is, the AOSPish JK2 rom doesn't install busybox properly. You'll have to reinstall AOSPish jk2, then before rebooting, install busybox from the market. then it'll work. (the EXACT method has been described in the AOSPish jk2 thread many time, but hasn't been updated in the op)
I know for the busybox process i did that but something went wrong obviously. I repeated the process and for now everything is ok recovery is working. Thanx for help guys i appreciate that

[Q] HELP!!!! Installed one click root and cant use rom manager CWM error

First i installed the drivers for the epic then the one click root. The superuser apps shows up but every time i try to use ROM manager it tells me that i need CWM to do anything. I try to up date CWM and error occurs.... Please help
Rom.manager will not install clockwork for you. If you ran the one.click with cwm then you should have it. Try booting into recovery and see.

I am having a similar issue.....
I oneclick it, reboot and see SuperUser. I reboot into recovery Volume down, camera, power, and it reboots to CWM recovery..... that is where the issue is.... now matter what I try to do, reboot, install from sd, wipe... etc, it all just goes forward to the next screen where I see the cwm hat and an arrow..... that is the last thing I ever see as it locks up at that point every time.
I have to Odin back to stock everytime to do anything. I have tried purple cwm several times and even tried to drop back to orange......
ANY ADVICE?

[Q] Can't get into hboot or clockwork?

Search function is down but I did go through a few pages of threads looking for what was going on and no luck but I apologize if this has been solved somewhere else.
First off I would rate my rooting know-how as beginner to intermediate. I've jailbroken/unlocked multiple iPhones awhile back and have rooted/flashed roms on a cliq, mts, my3g, and this mt4g before.
I recently returned my current mt4g back to stock rom and unrooted. I do not think I turned s back on but I should have double checked before.
I currently have root and flashed clockwork and am trying to flash CM7 (I had ran it before on this phone as well). I have an issue right now where I cannot get into clockwork recovery as it will just sit at the mytouch logo forever and if I try and volume up and power into recovery all I get is 3 vibrations and a flashing amber light.
I can boot into the stock (but rooted) rom.
Any ideas? I feel like my recovery is broken or something but this goes beyond what I know. Any help would be great and any information you need I'll be happy to provide.
myTouch 4G, rooted, s (probably) off, stock rom, clockwork says i'm on 3.0.2.4
After reading that, I'm not fully convinced you actually have root and S-OFF. If you're sure you do, download ROM Manager from the Market and use that to install a fresh copy of CWM recovery. Also make sure the "fast boot" option is turned off somewhere under Settings. At that point, there should be nothing preventing you from getting into recovery if you have perm root.
I've got ROM Manager and it has SU permissions and I have the latest recovery flashed but I am still stuck on mytouch logo or the 3 vibrations/amber light when I try to get to recovery. If I reboot there is still no problem getting SU in terminal emulator or ROM manager or anything.
Fast boot is off as well. Thanks for the help so far.
Any ideas?
I don't often boot into recovery manually since most custom ROMs have an enhanced reboot menu with a recovery option, but if memory serves, I believe the key press combination is actually Power + Volume Down, not up like you mentioned in your OP. Give that a try.
Man I am really crazy. Here I am a tmo rep and also a novice modder and I'm hitting power + volume up.
Worked like a charm.. Now just to figure out why clockwork is sitting at the mytouch screen when trying to install CM7.
Thanks for the fresh set of eyes!

After flashing CM7, the phone hangs at the myTouch screen when attempting the first boot?
From ROM Manager if I try to flash CM7 from there it goes to the mytouch screen and hangs before anything else happens.

What if you select the "boot into recovery" option in ROM Manager? Does the phone reboot into CWM recovery? (you should see the main CWM menu in orange text)
Boot into recovery takes me to MT4G logo and hangs.

So you don't have a good installation of CWM. Open ROM Manager again and re-flash a fresh recovery. I think there's an option to wipe your existing recovery beforehand, so if you see that, select it. You need to get a working recovery image before you can do much else.
Deleted current recovery and I confirm my model again and it takes a total of 5 seconds. Trying to reboot into recovery again after and I still hang at MT4G.
I hate it when you know something you need to do but you've been working on it so long you can't come up with new ideas.
Thanks again for the help.
Sorry multipost since it didn't register on my computer the first time for some reason
Yeah sorry man, I've never heard of a situation where CWM stubbornly refuses to install. If you have the engineering bootloader, you could manually flash it that way, but that's my only other idea.
Alright well thanks for all the help man, I'll dig around and pick up tomorrow.
I ended up looking for the recovery myself on the SD card and deleted it and then it flashed no problem. Thanks again for the help
