what is the best application?
Im using Documents To Go, does the job without hickups.
Didn't you get ThinkFree Office on the tab? I use that and it works great.
I have DocumentsToGo on my HTC Desire, and ThinkFree on the Tab (preinstalled of course). I've not played much in anger with ThinkFree, but my currently feeling is that it is better than DocumentsToGo.
All that being said, I should add that my primary use for both is reading email attachment, and not really creating/editing much.
Regards,
Dave
I thought ThinkFree would be useless bloatware, but its not, its pretty damn good actually. Fastest pdf renderer on android by a long mile (i've tried them all)

As in the title. Specifically, does anyone know if there is an RSS reader which integrates well with the home screen? Or if there is a working manilla tab for RSS feeds?
Thanks.
I've been using RSS Hub for years and i like it. I do not think I need anything more complicated. It is simple and works great. ...Think it was preinstalled on my HD2 ? What I did was just tweaked it to make it more thumb friendly. (you can find the tweak on the long HD2 tweaks list)
I have RSS Hub's tab icon on the Home screen.
RSS Hub does not appear to be included in my version of HD2. Therefore, I installed YomoMedia and setup an account with them. It seems to be working fine for me.
As RSSHub always crashes when you got a couple of feeds and go back to fast (had this with a lot of ROMs) i went over to the new GoNews and am quiet happy. But in my opinion all RSSReaders out ther either lack some functionalities, dont support fluid scrolling or have an ugly user interface (so has GoNews ) Until now theres no reader i am 100% satisfied with
I guess the best one still is the Google Reader in its iphone version:
http://www.google.com/reader/i/
works great on opera browser
it supports kinetic scroll, loads fast a top, in the landscape mode is excellent do view pictures...
and the best feature is that already sync with your reader so when I go to desktop is easy to follow the updates.
I've always like Yomomedia, but they're in the process of adding Google Reader syncing as well, so I'm sticking with it.
hi
I just got my desire (upgrade from Blackstone) and it is amazing.. I am so happy but now down to business.
My Blackstone was tuned to perfection for my app needs (shame about the UI, constant crashing AND slowness despite NRG best efforts with excellent ROMs.)
I have covered lots of my needs and more with great Android Apps (see appbrain thread) but I cannot currently achieve the following.
1. active synch my local outlook email on my laptop.
2. Sling Player (Though I see its coming)
3. Ebook reader for Mobi pocket reader files..... -- I guess I need to move to PDF only and find a decent PDF viewer of which there appears much choice.
4. Some kind of SKYPE/MSN for outside '3' (I have the 3 versions) and checking out Fring.
5. A navigator like Tom Tom for Europe.
cheers
New to android myself .
But just wanted to say that co-pilot for europe is great and support most languages.
Using Aldiko Book Reader for my e-books atm and i like it so far.
Congrats on the Desire btw

Check out Sygic (www.sygic.com) or Navigon (www.navigon.com), both are cool programs. Navigon has a 30 day trial @ Android Market.
1. active synch my local outlook email on my laptop.
Use gmail, or set up exchange syn.
2. Sling Player (Though I see its coming)
Never used it.
3. Ebook reader for Mobi pocket reader files..... -- I guess I need to move to PDF only and find a decent PDF viewer of which there appears much choice.
The pdf viewer is fine. But i dont read books on the phone anyway.
4. Some kind of SKYPE/MSN for outside '3' (I have the 3 versions) and checking out Fring.
Yeah - where the f**k is skype ? Its mental they dont have an android version.
5. A navigator like Tom Tom for Europe.
I missed totom too, but copilot ROCKS !

thanks for the options guys.. looks like most solved then except 1)
HTC synch does NOT synch emails and I really do not want to move to a exchange solutions.. i want active synch for android... I store my urgent inbox from multiple email accounts including work on outlook and I need this synced on my phone
I'm trying this currently "mylink"
http://www.wavestore.co.uk/index.php
ok i tried the demo and it works well. Only issue is the reviews are not good saying demo is hiding the bugs.. Looks like I will take a 10 quid gamble..
Just throwing out a line to get some ideas on the best PDF viewer, possibly with annotation (although not required). I'm looking for something fast and smooth that can navigate larger documents, etc.
I like the polaris office one, at least better than adobe reader, which seems sluggish.
+1 for Polaris Office. Not perfect, but faster than the Adobe Reader app.
Hmm, I might have to try to find a copy of Polaris, it has disappeared from my app list in the midst of various ROM changes.
Repligo PDFReader
I use it to have clients sign contracts right on the screen. But has so many functions.. Check out the Video
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cerience.reader.app&feature=search_result
It is $4.99 but well worth it.
+1
Polaris Office
Repligo +1 for me. And for read the include Acer Lumiread.
At some of android news website I saw a test of pdf readers and the winner was ezPDF reader. Maybe you'll like it (sorry for my english)

Thanks, I'm trying it out now. Seems pretty good, overall.
Did you ever try ezPDF? I've been using Repligo for about a month and I love it! It was definitely worth the $4.99 (actually, when I bought it, it was $1.99 @ the Amazon Appstore).
I looked forever for the perfect android PDF app for reading books and ezPDF won hands down. Amazing control, bookmaking, and text rendering. I couldn't believe how many of the apps weren't up to par.
Sorry to drudge up a moderately old post, but I have a question about ezPDF. Can you rotate documents? I scan a lot of stuff into PDF, and sometimes I need to rotate the pages on the fly?
Also, does it support adding notes (written with stylus) and bookmarks? I've seen other posts and some say that it has this feature, others complain it doesn't.
Thanks,
-PW

I do not see rotation in the settings anywhere.
And it does support adding notes, annotations. Just tap and hold screen and chose "free hand". It will ask u if u want to make a copy for annotating which is great so u dont mark up the only copy u have. It will create another copy if u like to mark up. Once u chose, then write as much as u want. Good program.
i'm working with lots of PDFs - non-editable, editable, with markups, making markups - and right now the best reader and marker for PDF for me is RepliGo.
The PDF Viewer from Picsel Smart Office is as well very good and very fast but without marking capabilities.
Picsel Smart Office has as well the best excel, word and powerpoint readers/editors.
Hi,
First of all, don't be cross if this has been asked before. Your search isn't working today
I'm looking for a lightweight office app. I've tried Kingsoft Office, which is very nice, but seems to take up a lot of juice and runs a bit slow. I am using Swype, which also chews up a lot, so I need the office app to be lightweight.
I need an app which can edit word documents. Does anyone know one which works well on the NST?
Thanks!

Documents To Go is best. Word perfect for me.
Hi i bought my wife a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 2014 edition
ive been using it and really lke it
was thinking of getting one me self to replace my laptop as i work offshore and it would be easyer to take away with me for a month at a time
i like the expandable sd card slot so would be able to save all my films etc to it to watch when am away
the thing thats put me off is office apps
while am away i have to send off my timesheets etc
on my timesheet i have a windows word timesheet with a excel spreed sheet on the inbedded in the word document
on my wifes tab i am yet to find a office program that will let me edit my spreadsheet thats embeeded in word
what offices do you,s all use , and what is the best
I use Documents To Go due to its Bluetooth keyboard integration. The spreadsheet is used about 15 or so hours a week with a Bluetooth keyboard. If keyboard integration is not a consideration, Office Suite or the free ones are OK. If you are looking at moderate to heavy usage (me) then consider a Bluetooth keyboard case (I have a Poetic combination). Before settling on an application, consider your usage of a Bluetooth keyboard followed by compatibility.

Documents To Go's Bluetooth implementation is superior to the rest, though it lacks in the bells and whistle department. It works and is stable.

Try Polaris Office 5 for tablet first because it is free (Samsung apps).
Then you can try Office Suite.
Sent from my SM-P605 using Tapatalk
i like office suite the best, but its too expensive for what it is. Kingsoft is a close second for me and it's free. Quickoffice is ok. Polaris is horrible, mostly because it sucks at rendering pptxs from powerpoint. Couldn't comment on the word processor aspect.
I have used all of the above. I like Office Suite the best and I got it for free during one of Amazon's free app of the day. I have seen it there at least twice for free, but if you have to have a good suite try Office Suite 7. King Office is good, but to me, kind of cumbersome to use. Just my opinion...
Kingsoft worked best for Excel

I have used all of the above as well, specifically OfficeSuite, QuickOffice, Kingsoft Office, Documents to Go, and Polaris. OfficeSuite used to be my favorite until I started having problems editing an Excel worksheet. The formulas were broken and necessary. I started testing all of the office apps with that specific excel (including a few other free office apps that I don't remember) and Kingsoft was the only one that could handle it well. I now only use Kingsoft office and haven't noticed any loss of functionality. It should be noted that I primarily use it for Excel so I can't comment on how it works with PowerPoint or Word. I have viewed PPT files using Kingsoft and that worked well, but did not edit them.
Edited to add documents to go to list of office apps tested.

No. I have a bluetooth keyboard, but I never use it. I almost always have a laptop as well, so ifI need to lo lots of text entry I use that instead. Kingsoft office is free so you could dolwnload it and try it.
I have installed it several times and due to its Bluetooth keyboard support, uninstall it. Thanks though.
