Hey everyone, i posted this at android central with no answer, though to see if you guys had any suggestions.
Just purchased an apple wireless keyboard to pair with my rooted (super clean + stupid fast kernel) fascinate. I've been looking around and saw that JP Bluekeyboard supports the apple wireless keyboard, so i gave it a shot..
well what do you know, it didn't work for me, everything on how to set it up goes great except that when i try and input, it goes "connecting" and straight to "disconnected".
anyone have any luck with this software or know of any other bluetooth keyboard applications?

The slideout Keyboard for the 8125 is great in the car, at a game, etc. But when I'm at the office or home I'd like a keyboard a little bigger. With that said I came across this one on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Stowaway-Portab...ryZ29851QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Any reason this one wouldn't/shouldn't work with the 8125?
Thanks
David
Well, if you read the specifications and compatibility list provided by the seller, you'd see that 1) it doesn't say anything about Windows Mobile 5.0 support and 2) the Wizard (8125) isn't on the compatibility list.
I would say those are two reasons that it wouldn't work.
Geoffrey
I saw that. But I've also seen other products in the recent past that works with WM5 though it does not say it does. In fact I've got software on my device right now that was not designed for WM5.
That is why I ask.

David

The ThinkOutside keyboard is the best I've seen.
http://www.thinkoutside.com/products/xtbtue/stowawaybt_product.html You can get it cheaper on eBay I'm sure. Make sure that you DL the latest driver, makes all the difference in the world.

Tried it, doesn't work. IR keyboards are dogdy at best. You got to line up the IR and even then it's luck of the draw.
Go bluetooh, you'll be happier.
I agree, IR is crap. The ThinkOutside is BT and it works flawlessly.

Hi,
So I have been looking for information on which bluetooth mice work with the samsung vibrant. I currently have an apple bluetooth keyboard working well with the vibrant, but I'd love to have a mouse as well.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
EDIT: Here is a video of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with his vibrant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21aVbYpgrRA - so how do we do it with a mouse and pointer?
EDIT:His XDA post can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8447646

Don't think this would work - there's no on-screen cursor.
Ditto. I remember Cyanogen added it as a feature not too many revisions back, so it isn't part of AOSP. Unless Samsung choose to add it... You can see where that is going.
So this is a video I saw a while back of a guy using a bluetooth keyboard AND MOUSE on his Vibrant. I'd like to do the same. How do I do it, and what mice will work? I know you two said that it can't be done, but this is proof otherwise.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21aVbYpgrRA
I suggest you contact him. He mentions using a leaked build, so it definitely isn't a mainstream feature yet.
edit .. Bluetooth HID is a standard, so all you really need to do is figure out what build he found it in and any bluetooth mouse should work.
Okay, so I found his XDA post under the i9000 section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8447646
mouse definitely works.. i use Apple's Mighty Mouse (pass: 0000) wireless without a problem... the scroll wheel works as the ones on the older HTC models...
hey guys,
is there a way to pair a bluetoothkeyboard with the defy? And is there a cable to pair the defy with a tv?
Mfg.Homer
As for the cable to TV, I don't think so.
But wouldn't any Bluetooth keyboard just pair with the Defy, or is that dependent on some profile that is not present on the Defy? I.e. do you own a keyboard and can't make it work, or do you just want to know if it would work?
There is a keyboard from "HAMA" which works...but you need any add-on...
keyboards
Tried a chinese bluetooth kb ... driver didn´t work.
3rd party drivers did somehow, but have been a pain in the ass in daily use.
Hardware keyboard which would be best in thinking of energy doesn´t because of missing USB Host.
Still: Defy ist the best phone I ever had ... but the road is loohooong ...
A quick Google search suggests there are enough keyboards to choose from. Just check if there is an Android driver and you should be fine.
Don't really get why one would want a keyboard though. It kind of undoes the portability and it seems a hassle to use. Don't get me wrong: I loved the keyboard on my old HTC Wizard. But that one was integrated in the phone which might be a better option for you as well!

- because you need some sort of time machine to get another waterproof mobile with a querty keyboard.
I would have liked a micro one for a adventure trip to proper blog and chat - the phones are nearly usable for that.
It works with Froyo !
Sorry for such a late post. Anyway, I bought this cheap BT keyboard some time ago. Whilst running the stock Eclair ROM, I had to use 3rd party applications to handle it, but never without lots of issues. I had bought it for test purposes, since Android was not listed as a supported platform. But after I flashed Froyo (in my case, the 3.4.3-11 UK ROM), the keyboard just works as it should. After it was paired (the digit sequence specified on the phone - I chose the widely known 0000 - must be entered in the BT keyboard, followed by <Enter>), I just turn the keyboard on (with the Defy's BT radio also turned on, of course) and press any key. The bluetooth link is immediately established, and I'm able enter data to any applications through it.
Just my 2 cents...

Carlos
good news
thanks4info.
I will jump on the CM7 train as soon as (a)gps is ok and will try there.
Still hoping to get usb host running, as other projects successfully activated it per software. Will post results after playing around with CM7.

Wow! For a long time, there was no posts at all in this thread. Ok, back to business. You see, I'm running CM10 too. In fact, due to some issues, I'm still on Quarx 11/17 build. Anyway, until I saw your post, my keyboard was forgotten in a drawer. I took it off, turned it on, pressed a key, and, although it was already paired with the phone, an entry in the status bar came up, which, upon being tapped, asked me to either allow or deny the connection. After a couple of times answering 'Yes', the bluetooth icon, in the status bar, turned blue, and, from that point on, all the text I entered was correctly taken by the phone, without any issues. Have you gone through this phase as well?
EDIT: have just flashed Quarx's CM10.1 05/27 build. Couldn't find a way to make my BT keyboard work with it. Haven't tried his CM10 new buiild, but as they seem to share all the radio (BT, Wifi) parts, it is most probable that it won't work there either. I'm already back to his 11/17 build.
there's some keybords that works, but it depends on the ROM too.
I had a chinese one, and it was a lot better to type than the touch keyboard, but, for me it wasn't very useful because I was unable to use some accents, and I usualy type in Portuguese.
I was wondering how many have experience with the Garmifone? My G1 is dying a slow death plus I am looking for a better GPS receiver that I can connect to the A500 to use aviation navigation apps.
What are some thoughts here? Could this kill 2 birds with one stone?
I have heard from a buddy that he did not like it, but I have not had any experience with it.
NOt sure if teather GPS needs to have root acess but that will share your android phones GPS with the iconia.
if your also looking there are bluetooth GPS recievers, I have yet to use one, they do pair with android phones not sure about tablets
Thanks for the feedback Brian.
I have been looking at the Bluetooth GPS receivers made by Globalsat and talking with the developer of the Naviator App. He has been using a Bluetooth receiver paired with his tablet I believe and it seems to be working. Since I need to upgrade my G1 anyway, and don't really care about all the social networking bells and whistles that come with a lot of modern phones, I was looking at the Garminfone for it's navigational abilities.

Good looking phone. Do you know how well the GPS signal locks in it?
mine has been fine always gets a lock
I've had one for over a year now. It works fine. I don't know anything about linking its GPS function with another device. I tried to find a way to use it as a GPS receiver for a PC application, but could not find a way to do that.
I use the GPS in my Nexus One for my A500, shared via bluetooth. It works 100% beautifully, since it can lock down almost instantly and tracks more accurately than this thing can. I use Sygic's latest release as my navigation app, the only problem it has is that the top part of the interface is cut off (it doesn't use the new HC full-screen mode, yet), so the signs that come up are cut off.
I can sync my A500 to my nokia wireless headset without problem. Approximately an hour later it disconnects while watching a movie. Doesn't matter which movie or player program. The headset is fully charged.
This started after Flexreaper R12 but never happened prior on stock roms or the earlier versions. I also ran Taboonay and it worked fine.
Any thoughts? Yes i did a full wipe and load.
Thanks
Hello,
I had a simular question some days before.
I'm using a case with keyboard via USB and a mouse via BlueTooth. With Taboonay everything worked perfect, with any Flexreaper. The mouse will be paired but no pointers, no work.
I never got any response on my question.
It seems no one of the developers is looking into this forum.
On the other side I'm not allowed to post to the developers forum because I have not done 10 questions.
This is, simply, bull****!
Regards
Rainer
Hoping anyone can help!

[soapbox on/] What's bull**** is someone with three posts *****ing about not having a hotline to the Dev of a great program that didn't cost you a dime. When Windows dumps on you, do you drop Bill Gates an email and get a callback? Devs here have real jobs and real lives, appreciate what they do for us.
As far as post count, not hard to get ten under your belt. If you don't like the rules, don't play the game [/soapbox off]

Hey you anonyme guy, that was very polite what you wrote.
If I have only this one problem to post for, because all others is OK. Then it would be the best way to do it in that part of the forum where it belongs. So the developers can see it directly in their thread!
Thats all.
And there is absolutly no reason to do a posting like you did. This style do write other people is very easy done in your anonym corner!
People like you cannot be taken as serious guys.
Bye and FO

Hi civato, would be nice to send some help if you have found it.

Solation for passt post, somewhat same issue with bluetooth...
Hi there to you all.
First up, quadruple kuddos to Civato for the rom, it kicks butt and is great.
Concerning my previous post about graphical crashes during games (like NFS, NFS HP, etc,) was related to this specific unit.
It seems to suffer from intermitant hickups during certain process(like flashing, etc)
If any one comes across the same issue, simply factory reset tablet, empty all caches and reflash rom.
As for the bluetooth issue, I seem to have something similar going on.
First up, all my devices (Acer bluetooth keyboard, Bluetooth Mouse and Rocketfish Headset all pair and work with the tablet)
The headset loses connection 3 to 4 times before it connects properly.
If I watch a movie with Diceplayer, MX video Pro or V player, and if the headset becomes disconnected, the movie starts playing in fast motion with no sound.
I tried everything to close//force close the player and empty cache, etc and nothing works.
The only way to fix that problem is to reboot the tablet.
The mouse works fine so does the keyboard.
Any toughts?
