The slideout Keyboard for the 8125 is great in the car, at a game, etc. But when I'm at the office or home I'd like a keyboard a little bigger. With that said I came across this one on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Stowaway-Portab...ryZ29851QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Any reason this one wouldn't/shouldn't work with the 8125?
Thanks
David
Well, if you read the specifications and compatibility list provided by the seller, you'd see that 1) it doesn't say anything about Windows Mobile 5.0 support and 2) the Wizard (8125) isn't on the compatibility list.
I would say those are two reasons that it wouldn't work.
Geoffrey
I saw that. But I've also seen other products in the recent past that works with WM5 though it does not say it does. In fact I've got software on my device right now that was not designed for WM5.
That is why I ask.

David

The ThinkOutside keyboard is the best I've seen.
http://www.thinkoutside.com/products/xtbtue/stowawaybt_product.html You can get it cheaper on eBay I'm sure. Make sure that you DL the latest driver, makes all the difference in the world.

Tried it, doesn't work. IR keyboards are dogdy at best. You got to line up the IR and even then it's luck of the draw.
Go bluetooh, you'll be happier.
I agree, IR is crap. The ThinkOutside is BT and it works flawlessly.
More info is at the Wizard Accessories forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewforum.php?f=41&sid=07d37e2694499f06e3758219b772b892

Have searched the postings and couldn't find anything - does anyone have a recommendation for a good bluetooth keyboard? I'd go with IR but seeing as they cunningly put the transceiver on the side that would face away from the keyboard if you had it in landscape thats kind of an issue... anyway, got bluetooth so should use bluetooth!
I have used the stowaway bluetooth keyboard. I think its great.

Hope this helps.
Thanks for that reply, thats the one I was looking at and it's good to know someone has already used it successfully.
Keyboard
I have just bought one of these and I really like it.
http://www.cygnetuk.com/bluetooth_keyboard.htm
It was easy to install via a CD and it works quite well. It is a full size keyboard. I got it via this co. on ebay.
Now I just need a mouse
Thanks, I'm really looking for a foldable portable unit.

This folds in 2! Its not much bigger than my device - its superb.
Looks good, thanks for that. Can't find anywhere in the USA that stocks the Cygnet keyboard but I'll look around further
cygnet
Sorry I was a bit vague. It is similar to the other one but half the price! I paid 39.99 pounds sterling. The keyboard opens and slides out to full size. A holder pops out too. Its a nice piece of kit.

I used to use some similar software with my P900......unfortunatly the IRDA port on the Hermes isnt particularly powerful so you really dont get much range out of it
Try next to the device, then try a typical distance away...say 10 feet (i think that would be a realistic distance to use a remote??).

For that exact purpose, IRDA! The infra red port is not intended to be used as a universal remote controller
The IRDA port on the P900 was also crappy but i got about a 5 foot range LOL!
thats what i never understood, i liked the idea first off of doing a remote using the phone but having to walk upto the TV or DVD sorta makes it pointless.
novii remote works great on my 8525..it works better on my daughters ****ty little 13" better then my plasma haha
i read about a software package that worked on wifi for media centres. does any one know the name of it?
I have used VITO Remote on my 6700, and it worked great. I have also had no luck with any remote control software on the 8525, VITO, Nevo, etc. I will tell you this much, my attempts had NOTHING come from the IRDA port. I took my 6700's camera to watch for the light and there was nothing. To make sure my IRDA port worked, I went to explorer and had it send a file, that showed activity on the port, so I know it works, just not with the RC programs I've tried. I'm going to try the NoviiRemote and see if I can get that to work and report back.
Just downloaded and tried NoviiRemote Deluxe. Nope, didn't work. I got errors straight away. I am however running a cooked WM6 ROM, so it might be a compatability issued with WM6. My previous attempts with VITO and Nevo were with the most recent HTC rom running WM5, so I know it wasn't an issue with WM6
Ok, call me stuborn. I got NoviiRemote to work. Infared is on COM3, and so I naturally used that and it didn't work. I noticed IRDA is on COM1 and tried that. VOILA! Using my webcam, I see blinkies!! So I put it in learn mode, program in my controls for my plasma and it works. Not the best mind you, I have to be under 4' from it, but it does work.
Because I'm on a roll, I try VITO and Nevo. Nevo I can't configure it to a specific port, so that isn't gonna work, and VITO pops up saying it's not compatible with my processor. No matter, I like that NoviiRemot flips the screen for orientation with the infrared port on the bottom of my 8525.
LMAO just walk over and change channels
remote
I use novii no problem on my herms
range is average, but go the custom set-up and works a treat on my Sony amp, tv/dvd/settop box, and xbox.
my 2cents
cheers
Novii Remote works great on my Hermes - not a glitch!
I have a dell axim x5 also.. I do remember a 3rd party IR upgrade kit was available, making the range nice and long.
Has anyone seen such a thing for the hermes ?
Hello everyone.
That's it. My "good" old Universal finally gave way to a brand new HTC Touch Diamond, as I changed phone provider. Since I am always reluctant to sell my old toys, I am trying to recycle the beast into something usefull.
The great thing about the touch diamond is that it is relatively small compared to the Uni, which makes it handy to carry around as the main phone. The down side of this is that typing on the touch screen isn't the most efficient input method around.
I am looking at various options like the virtual keyboard (a laser projected keyboard), a stowaway keyboard or other bluetooth options. They are expensive, though.
This is why I am writing this email: is there a known tool that would allow me to use the Universal as a bluetooth keyboard emulator? I have looked at Remote Commander, but it can only control a PC, which is not what I am looking for.
Please send your comments!
Thank you!!
Ohh i see. so you want to use the (big) keyboard on the universal to type out stuff to your htc touch diamond?
I dont know how you would do off hand. But thats an interesting idea. On the first glance though i wouldnt gain much benifit from the universal keyboard anyway maybe 2 times quicker. But if i did get the full size keybaord i could type maybe 10 times faster. But i see your point though that bluetooth keyboards are expenive. You could bit the bullet and sell your universal for exchange for a bluetooth keyboard (I would get a stowaway mainly because i touch type and you cant do it with a laser keyboard)
If you find a way to use your universal as a keyboard let me know how it turns out. Im pretty intrested on how it would work.
ok so i love my hd2 but sometimes wish it had a physical keyboard will a bluetooth keyboard work on the hd2 for sending emails and text messages?
Yes.
I currently use a Dell BT Keyboard for typing.
Just curious, did you actually do a search before asking this question? Because I answered it for another person less than 24 hours ago on this same forum branch...
I found this on amazon- paired easily and works great.
now to make a case..

There is a recent thread, specifically about those small handheld BT keyboards:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726254
Lots of interesting links.
I haven't tried one yet myself. Would be interested in hearing more input from those who have.
I do have the larger fold-out type, the Stowaway brand. I haven't tried it yet on the HD2, as I just got that phone yesterday. I assume it will work though, as it works on all WM phones.
The little ones could come in handy too, to carry in your pocket along with the phone.
I thought I would start a thread for what works and does not for bluetooth.
My A500 connects and works perfectly with:
Sony headphones model DR-BT21G
Freedom Pro keyboard set to HID - no special driver needed
Think Outside folding Keyboard - this is no longer on the market
My wii controller using wiimote controller and pce.emu from android market.
Wiimote controller lets me play with all the tiger emus and pce.emu has native wiimote support.

Why no one seems to be annoyed by this bright spot in the right of the screen??
It is only noticeable in bright colored backgrounds (white, light blue etc), but it completely goes away on dark backgrounds and you cant notice it at all.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/IMG]
I ve seen this issue on every device i ever hold in my hands (demo display devices o9n stores), including my own.
I have started a thread about this some days ago : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077527&highlight=light+bleeding , but there seems to be only few ppl worried about this..
So i wonder, does everyone else suck it up and live with it?? Maybe you havent noticed it yet?? Maybe its not so bad on your device ?? Maybe you dont have it at all ??
As far as i m concerned it really pisses me off when i look at this spot on a white background !!!
Sony DR-BT100CX Bluetooth headphones working great, incl. player controls (pause/play, FF, RW). I haven't tried the headset's microphone, but suspect it might not work yet based the user manual:
user manual said:
Note: Only A2DP stereo headsets (without microphone) are supported.
Please check for updates to the tablet's software which may add support for

The Palm Wireless Keyboard (3245WW) works perfectly. Saw no reason to buy a different one when I had this one laying around collecting dust. You can still find them used and a rare few that are new. I'm pretty sure this is just a Think Outside keyboard with the Palm brand on it.
I have also gotten the Wii Remote working well with a Nintendo 64 emulator. I'm using WiiMote Control and N64oid.
I'll be following this thread because I'm looking to get some wireless headphones.

Targus Bluetooth keyboard for iPad
So far, I'm liking this keyboard. A few of the buttons are marked a bit oddly for Android, but overall, I really just wanted the basics. A few of the specialty keys work well - magnifier bring up search, volume keys work, arrows scroll and pan...
So, yeah..not too bad and pretty low profile as well. Operates off two AAA batteries Paired very easily. Occasionally after a long period of not being used, I have to turn it off and on again, but it reconnects Very Quickly.
Very Happy until the next one that's perfect comes along.
51.00 from tiger Direct (no shipping and no tax!)
my jaybird bluetooth headphones work great.
Qstarz BT-q818 bluetooth GPS unit.
I use my tab as a moving map in the airplane where the tab doesn't have a clear view of the sky. the BT GPS has a 42 hour rechargeable battery and works quite well. Download the Bluetooth GPS App from the market and enable Mock Locations to get it to work.
Astro
Polaroid PoGo Printer
My Polaroid PoGo Printer works well with the Iconia.
other than it being pricey, this works on my tab. I mainly use it for my media center
The Logitech keyboard for tablets works great!
I got mine at Best Buy - they did not have the "Android" model but the one for iPad is the same product.
