Does anybody know where this thread belongs?
GENERAL
But to answer your question, there should be no issues with bluetooth. Flash the correct kernel and reinstall the update.... WIPE DATA, DALVIK CACHE, and CACHE.... Then try again.

I had problem with bluetooth not turning on on DJ05 too. Reflashing DJ05 helped. My guess one of the updates from ClockworkMod killed it.

Flashed 2 or 3 times, no issues here. Its actually working better than DI01
Are you running a custom kernel (stupid fast, etc.)?
This is kernel related. DI01 kernels can lose vibration, haptic feedback and BT when run with a DJ05 system. This is normal, and is pretty wide spread. There are some work-arounds like what was posted above, but updated kernels will be released, it will just take some time.
To be clear, this is not permanent. You can go back to DI01 and you will get your BT, etc.. back, but SMS will be broken if you updated the modem to DJ05.
Consider it an early adopter tax.

Of course, if you have access to a DJ05 kernel that would be the way to go.
Fixed by reflashing dj05. Thanks for the input.

I gotta report that DJ05's bluetooth is definitely improved. On my car stereo Pioneer AVIC-D3 Phonebook is syncing now, and A2DP supported together with regular phone calling. Before it was one or another, and phonebook transfer didn't worked at all. Good job Samsung!

For those who know the nature of the GPS bug... is there any improvement with the latest modem available?
I never thought there was a problem before, but I was shown the light. Then this came out and now we are all happy.
Yes this fixes it. Just try it. : )

Hmm.. I gotta keep trying. Flashed dk05 radio with DI18 ROM - GPS worked better than ever. Flashed DK05 ROm with DK17 kernel... no more GPS. Now I'm wondering whether it's the DK05 ROM itself that causes it or the DK18 kernel. Reflashing DK05 with its own kernel doesn't help.

That's the only one that works. New modem makes a huge difference (so far, we'll see if it still works tomorrow), but either dj or dk breaks gps for me.

Can you be more specific where to find that. I can't find what you're referring to.
I just replaced my Epic due to this GPS issue last night. It worked when I got the new one, but it already has stopped working again today. If they don't have a consistently working fix by the time my 30 days is up, I am definitely going to switch to the Evo.

Here you go. No promises, but this is the only one that's worked for me and it works better than anything else. Note: hardcoded 98ft accuracy is still present, but GPS clearly works much better. Sensitivity is improved with DK05 radio, let's see how it works few days from now when the cache bug usually starts biting.
so i flashed the full DJ05 package through odin and it worked perfect... after it was done, i tried gps.. and it said initializing without stopping for at least 15 minutes and still no lock, so i flashed D101 through odin and it worked perfect and still no gps lock... what happened???
Had a similar issue after upgrading Maps to 5.0, un-installing maps and re-installing it fixed it for me, also make sure the location services are turned on.

From what I heard the dj05 update isnt really a fix for the gps,,,,, just a slight improvement.
The galaxy s phone are garbage in my opinion. Poorly made. Motorola makes the best Android phones hands down. And they support them!

From my experience the galaxy s phones have great hardware, they just have crappy software. The dj05 update helped my gps by a lot, I can get a lock in about 2 seconds. I have seen and used the droid x and the droid 2 and would still rather have the fascinate, huge improvement over my old eris even when it was running 2.2.

Then you heard wrong, unless by "slight improvement" you mean that GPS goes from non-functional/useless on DI01 to working fine in DJ05/DL09. The only time that GPS has issues for me is if I turn it on while moving, it takes maybe 20 sec. to get my location then, otherwise, it's better than my old phone by far.
Until you've actually tried it, how about not trolling here?
imnuts i had the fascinate returned it cause i hated it. my friend still has it with the update he says its a slight improvement in the gps area.
Either way the fascinate sux<<< btw thats trolling.
Ok new update on my gps.
I go to maps app... Directions... Type it in press enter... Shows me written directions... Click on the little blue arrow... Shows me driving and the blue arrow is moving in the right direction and what not bit it doesn't stop saying getting driving directions with the rotating blue thing on the left... So I wait and wait and wait............. And nothing!!! I even tried putting an address close to home and nothing!!!!......... Any idea what's going on?
This is also now my only issue with the phone. I tried rebooting and uninstalling and installing it back on.... But nada

Did you flash the DJ05 MODEM in additition to the rom? Just have to ask.
Well, to the know it all Bigboinkers above, DI01 was not downloading ephemeris data like it was supposed to, which is instrumental to GPS locks on phones.
DJ05 does, and so does DL09. They lock quite quickly.
So stop making BS up, kthx.

i will argue that your statement is incorrect, my GPS is perfect after i Flashed DJ05.
and it would not lock at all prior to flashing...

If you still have not found a solution, it very well may be a hardware problem. I would try everything again, and if that doesn't work, I would get a replacement.
And to the troll, go away. If you don't have a Fascinate, you don't belong here.

i flashed both Dl01 and DJ05 again... and still nothing... i cant get my phone to root now either ... =\ but yeah even stock on DJ05 gps is showing no navi...fml
It downloaded randomly and says something like "phone will update, power down, and power up automatically for this special offer"---GREAT!! a SPECIAL offer that is ESPECIALLY ANNOYING!
I dont like how someone can just download something on my phone like that without my permission. when i want to update windows, I go and manually update it. i dont need someone to hold my hand.
anyway, it obviously didnt work.
1)it tried to reboot and it goes to the little android guy with exclamation mark and it says some failure to update message.
2) I just hit reboot phone and it goes back to my homescreen
3)it goes directly into trying to install again.
4)my only option is to postpone it for 24 hrs
What should i do? I want:
1) full control over my device(pls go verizon or whoever is trying to control my phone)
2)to fix this issue

first thing I did when I got the phone was do the "how to root, install CWM, voodoo,...." thread.

It won't cause problems. And what else can they do, anyways? The developers here can't automagically push changes to your phone! If you install any of the ROMs posted here, the updater won't try to update it, because it won't be there (or, like said, you can just manually disable/remove it).
You probably didn't see anything about it because there hasn't been a new update recently or anything, the last one being a fairly minor update shortly after the previous one was released to boot.
If you're still running DI01, it's probably trying to update you to DL09/EA28, which is the current highest version.
As stated, either freeze it with Ti or just move the .apk to name.apk.old in /system/app. Either way will prevent it from running, ever.
Well dl09 also fixes gps. It's nice.
Seriously, DI01 is obsolete. EA28 is better in every way. But if you chose to love your DI01, there is nothing we can do.
Also, adrynalyne's super clean rom is pretty nice. But again it's up to you.

Personally, I feel like I jumped the gun with EB01. GPS works worse, it's a bit flakier all around, and I had a hell of a time dealing with restoring SMS (I had to make a backup, restore an old one, back the SMS up, restore the eb01 backup, then restore the SMS... only to have the SMS app auto-delete all but the 200 latest!).

EB01 is the latest Froyo leak (DL30 was the first&previous, and was far buggier). I upgraded to DJ05 because there were more rom/theme options available for it at the time than DI01, as well as hoping it'd fix the horrible GPS performance (it didn't, nor did EB01). I upgraded to EB01 after it was out for a while because, well, I wanted Froyo (plus, I'm going to be using Push updates for an app I'm working on... and C2DM doesn't work on Eclair).
Hey. Im just wondering which custom rom is thew best right now?
Srf 1.2.0 or if your going for gingerbread I still like acs bamboozled
sent from my epic 4g. with the key skips.
They are ALL good. Just depends on what you want.
Why do so many people ask the same question? It is like the exact same question and nothing has changed in over a month. Best ROM is ALWAYS a matter of opinion and what works for you. Just read the threads for each ROM and find out what problems it comes with and what improvements are in there and decide if it is right for you. Some wipe all bloatware and Sprint apps, some don't, some have themes and some don't....gotta read.
Yup, its all about personal preference. Also, ROMs behave differently on each phone. I couldn't get SRF 1.0 or 1.1 to work right ever on my Epic but 1.2 works great. Yiu really have to try them out

Best that I've Used
The best ROM that I have used is the ERA OLYMPUS ROM. It feels very stable and is extremely fast. It might be a placebo but it feels like the GB ROMs are much snappier than stock Froyo. I did change out the theme on the ROM though. The Stockish ROM was cancelled but the ACE theme that is linked to on the page looks really nice. I also flashed Chris' updated EH17 Plus kernel onto this. so far I've had to redo the ROM a few times but that has been mostly due to my own negligence, such as swapping SD cards with my friend's Droid X about 20 times in one day while trying to help him fix it. One good thing is that I may only have a random reboot 2 or 3 times a day. I can deal with that. Overall I really like this ROM and it is just as good as any stock OTA GB that may come out in the future.
I haven't tried many, but I have SRF 1.2 now, and it's awesome. Well worth it to try it out IMO.

You can flash the zip anytime, on or off. I am not sure exactly how it works, but basically with it off anytime your battery dies, or comes out or phone shuts off any way other than holding power, when you restart you will have uncontrollable force closes. With it on you lose a pinch of performance (not really noticeable) but you will not worry about the force close issue in case anything happens.
Most of us suggest having it on.

Journaling costs you a little speed but helps you data from getting corrupted in case of a bad shutdown, bad flash, battery falls out, ect. I always turn journaling on.

thanks for the response.
believe it or not, I actually haven't had any unplanned shut downs since flashing to SRF 1.2 (along w/Genocide 1.1) a few months back but, lately (as in the last few days), I've noticed that my battery performance has really dropped. in addition, my phone has exhibited some occasional flakey behavior: one in particular is making a phone call, seeing that I'm connected (call timer starts ticking away), but hearing total silence. the person on the other end receives a call from me but they can't hear a damn thing from my end. this problem is only corrected with a reboot or shut down. I was curious if my not having journaling enabled could be accounting for any of it. like I said, these issues are recent, and I do live in an area now with considerably worse Sprint coverage than before. For example, in my apartment, I can't even get a reliable Sprint signal. Without my Airvana (which has huge issues with maintaining a consistent lock onto the GPS) I couldn't even really use my phone without roaming on Verizon.
anyway, just a bunch of stuff that's been bugging me and I'm not entirely sure what to do about it.
Sometimes booting into recovery and wiping Cache partition and Dalvik Cache will free up the performance. Its my understanding that over time it can build up causing lag or stuttering..well general performance loss. Anyhow, here's the journal on zip in case you need it..

Honestly ReVolt, SRF 1.2 and Urban Regeneration are all great. Regen is themed blue with apps added and some custom sounds, ReVolt is leaner with a custom kernel based off of Genocide 2.0, SRF 1.2 has a lot of under the hood tweaks that I am not familiar with. Revolt has Hotspot hack baked in lasted version. It is a flashable add on for the other two. They are all excellent choices

ok thanks. I'll give it a shot.
I have a Fascinate running a "PowerWashed" FroYo build. This has been running fine for months, but the past few weeks, I occasionally don't receive calls. I'll get a notification for a new voicemail, but no missed call on record.
This didn't bother me too much until yesterday. My wife and baby were in a car accident (rear-ended by a 23 year old, texting of course....) My wife repeatedly called me. The calls never made it. Only after frantically calling me time and time again did she leave me a voicemail, which I got the notification for.
Could this be a problem with the rom? The radio? I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to spend a lot of time flashing new stuff if I don't need to. If I have to flash anyway, I sure wouldn't mind flashing an ICS build if there is a stable enough one for Fascinate.
This has been an ongoing issue ever since Froyo was released. Verizon says it was supposedly fixed in ED05 but reports are mixed on whether or not it is. Also people say this is worse in areas where LTE is present but I don't know how substantial that is.
What version of Power washed are you running? Have you tried upgrading to an EH03 from like Superclean3 or GeeWiz 2.4.2 or 2.5?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I would update the radio to EH03, because it is a reliable radio version. I had a similar problem but with my version of ICS because the radio the ROM came with was jacked up.

ICS builds not come with a radio...its uses the radio you previously had.
Must have been a different one then, but either way using stock radios does insure greater reliability

geewiz or scms2 are good ideas, pair them with either kgb or geewiz kernel and your phone will fly. either use ec09 or eh03 modem. imo eh03 is faster and ec09 is more reliable when it comes to not switching from 1x to 3g.

Just flash the ec09 or eh03 radio...when i ran powerwashed froyo, i used imnuts pbj kernel with ec09 radio. Rock solid setup with no missed calls. But yes upgrade to something like superclean3 with kgb kernel or cm7.2 with glitchv13.1
I can't seem to find just the EH03 radio. Where can I get this? Also, can I flash through Clockwork, or do I have to do this with ODIN again?

Thanks everyone. I flashed EH03 with directions on post #3 here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...tom-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-25-a.html
Hopefully I start receiving all calls again.
