Extended Battery on MDJ Clean 2.4 Kernel 8.4eb - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I'm using a 2400mah extended battery I got on eBay with MDJ Clean Sense 2.4v with 8.4eb kernel.
My battery will display 24% battery and when I remove and replace the battery it will show something like 74%.
I think I've seen this question asked before but I can't find it.
Does anyone know if there's a fix?
Thanks!

Turn off phone.
Charge battery completely, green LED will turn on.
Keep charger plugged in still.
Turn on phone, boot into Android.
Delete batterystats.bin file inside root/data/system/
Reboot.
Unplug charger when Android boots.

No, you don't need to. Just charge it while the phone is off.

From what you're saying, I think you might be looking at the sdcard directory using either your computer or a standard file explorer (i.e. ES File Explorer or Astro File Manager). You need to use the app ROOT EXPLORER and browse the system files while running Android. This will allow to see every system file/folder. You can either support the development of the app by buying it from the market, or google "root explorer mobilism" and download the apk from that forum. Once you get that app installed and running. You'll be able to find your batterystats.bin file in the directory I posted. /root/data/system/....and FYI, when I say "/root/" it's not an actual folder that you'll see when you open Root Explorer, it just means the very base of the directory. So when you open up Root Explorer, just look for a "data" folder, and then a "system" folder inside that. I hope this is thorough enough.

[Q] How to install circular battery?

Hi there... I'm trying to install a circular battery indicator using this guide -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7172329&postcount=2
I go to the online kitchen and select my battery alternative and the upload my framework-res.apk file and get a zip-package in return.
The guide says to reboot into recovery mode but that doesn't work since it will only make a normal reboot.
I opened the zip file and copied the framework-res.apk file inside and copied it to the system/framework folder using RootExplorer. This DID give me the circular battery after rebooting but unfortunately it will keep rebooting in an endless loop (don't worry, I have a backup of my whole SD card).
There were another folder in the zip package containing the following files.
\META-INF\CERT.RSA
\META-INF\CERT.SF
\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF
\META-INF\COM\\GOOGLE\\ANDROID\update-script
Does anyone know what to do with those files, please!!??
Brgds... /Tubgirl
So it seems like the other files are only needed for the recovery mode procedure and framework-res.apk is really the only file needed.
Too bad it didn't work. I like the circle battery but am not willing to change ROM for it since the ROM I'm using is rock stable. MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4

Thanks for the tip... it looks great and I'll make sure to use it if I ever upgrade to MDJ FroYo HD v.4.6.
I'm on MDJ FroYo Sense Clean v. 2.4 and even though the file you suggested actually installed the circular battery icon (which looked excellent) it screwed up lots of text strings in my Android. I guess the framework-res.apk really has to be customized for the exact correct rom you're using.
Thanks anyway... I still hope anyone knows the answer.

How to disable Boot sound, no custom rom

Sorry if this has been covered, I Searched and couldn't find anything on it other than custom roms.
All you need for this is to have your phone rooted and use the program Root explorer or similar.
Open root explorer or similar go to: system/media/audio/ui directory
Then at the top of root explorer click the button that says Mount R/W to change it to Mount R/O
Then rename the file poweron.ogg to poweron.ogg.bak and enjoy silent boots.
You can do the same to any other sounds you want to disable. Or if you are adventurous you can put your own custom sounds in there.
As noted below, it's not such a bad idea to backup files before you tinker with them. Simple making a copy and stashing is somewhere takes a few seconds and could save you some trouble.
I'm not liable if you screw up your phone, do at your own risk.
Yea you ll be fine, you did it right. Backup so if u delete something u want. u can put it back
spoonerdee do you know where the charging notification is when you plug your phone in the charger? It is disabled in the blazer rom and I would like it back so when I connect the phone to the charger it makes a sound.

This is why I recommend renaming it vs removing/deleting it. Safer that way.
But as you said, no harm in making a copy of the file for a backup, you never know

You are doing it wrong.
What you need to do is already in the article, but here are steps:
1. To find out which version you have, check the size of the /data/battd/cc_data file.
cc_data = 16 bytes - old battd,
cc_data = 24 bytes - new battd.
2. If you have the new battd file whose size is 24 bytes, and the owner and group of that file (look in properties. Use ES File Explorer) is mot_accy then change it to system using ES File Explorer or terminal using the following command:
Code:
chown -R system:system /data/battd
3. Reboot and charge your battery to 100%.
Now you should not get battery drops unless your battery is really dying like mine!
I got a new battery from a local dealer. Its not original, but does the job.
Still confused

All this can be easily done from inside ES File explorer. Please use that, as there is really no need to use the terminal.
Of course you will need to have root options enabled in ES File explorer settings.
Just press Menu and in the grey area that opens, scroll down and enable Root Explorer.

This is just plain wrong on so many levels...
1. Don't tinker with an .apk unless you decompiled it. With your way you will inevitable break zipalign, thus slowing everything down.
2. The power_profile.xml you provided is already pre-compiled. Why?
3. You flash the Rom again - This overwrites the changes you made before. Lee me guess, without going back to the original framework you device did not boot? That is because you not only broke zipalign, but also the .apk's signature. So the system refuses to install the vital framework.
I said it before in one of your threads. Be careful on what you upload here, as people usually trust xda and, excuse my language, rubbish like yours is of no use for anyone...
I hope you realize that by now.

Ok I said I'm out, but you are pushing it...
Do you have any idea what the power_profile.xml actually does?
It provides consumption values to the framework, so that this may properly calculate the battery consumption. Changing values in there won't change anything else then the readings in the battery report or apps that call upon that data.
It will in no way affect the actual energy consumption, so I stand by what I said before.
You provide a not working thing, period!
If you don't believe me read more about it over

Anyway that's it from me, good luck...

u're wrong. it works for me :good:
there are many errors when compiling roms from cyanogenmod and stock rom by sony and samsung and others. see my sound fix thread for example you will see the difference ! cyanogenmod didn't fix that sound problem yet !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/general/cm11-sound-fix-ultimate-t2861135
And as you can see on stock rom or cm11 give a high value (for radio, BT,GPS, screen-on or cpu idle) will drain battery fast !
compare the two files decompiled !
So what is about with this mod? What are the benefits of using this? Can someone confirm working this? I read this discusion and i dont know its safe or i brick my device?
it really works for me. i never upload that never works or never tested. i got a great battery life after found this solution : two days with heavy usage. believe it or not ! make a backup and test. better you decompile and modify the values like uploaded here. :good:
ok so can you adviced me what i need to do?
im using stsock kk russian second edition 108.
what i need to change or is any option to create flashable zip file to instal it via recovery or i need to push it manually? why i need to flash new firmware after this operation? after flashing i understand that all of my data will erased with all settings and all my file will be cleaned ? i dont udnerstand why it wouldnt works after flashing? maybe you could post some instructions step by step to clean up everything im a little bit scared that i can brick my phone or something.
cheers
I see that it was mentioned before, but it seems it went unheard.
This mod will not work because of the simple reason that the second step overwrites the change!
Flashing the ROM again will remove the modified framework-res.apk file.
You can try and see for yourself. after doing the steps, unpack the apk again and see which power_profiles.xml is there.
I'm pretty sure you'll find the default one.
Also, the file has nothing to do with actual power consumption, as is mentioned in the Android documentation.
I hate to say it but the battery improvement you noticed is just a placebo
If you really want us to believe it works, then at least show us what you got. A screenshot of battery usage and screen time are a good proof

Is there any way to fix/improve battery life on CM11? Z1C with the same usage on stock rom gets over 2.5x longer battery life.

They're not in media but under system/priv-app/SystemUI_ZTE/
Look into the apk under res/raw/
There you have your charging.ogg

Ok, I copied systemui.apk from the location that you told me, then i replaced that charing.ogg. But now, when I copied it back (even from TWRP, or es file explorer), it feels like system dont see SystemUI.apk. The screen is totally black, and on first reboot I didnt have status bar. I fixed permissions, cleared chaches, and still nothing. Even if I copy back the original systemui.apk, its still the same. Im rocking your port of mifavor 5.0, do you know the solution how to properly install modified systemui.apk?

Most likely a signing problem or possible a clean flash needed.... (that is if you changed permissions right and so on....i cannot judge from here )
But as only res has to be modified i'd see no problem..
If you send me the ogg files you want to replace in the apk, i'll look into that and do a test myself.

i'm guessing you didn't change the permissions after putting it back, though, isn't it?

Glad it worked ! Needed more then a bit of permissions
These chinese ones are more stubborn as other roms. Therefore i deodexed the SystemUI_ZTE.apk
ONLY WORKING ON V2.0.0B13 (SL!M) Mifavor5.0
Here is the deodexed file : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850495598
Just extract it and replace existing in system/priv-app/SystemUI_ZTE/ and change to 644
And you'll have another "charging" tone
